Guest Reviews
- Mihajlo (10/5): - Clean, quiet, pleasant.
- Katja (4/5): - Check-in is supposed to be possible from 2 pm. We had to wait 25 min until the receptionist turned up. Nobody answered the phone. The receptionist seemed inconvenienced by the arrival of guests. Or greeting them appropriately. 6 pm no hot or warm water available. Walk-through to back entrance seems to serve as public toilet (not the fault of the hotel though). Will remain our only visit, I guess.
Möbel extrem abgewohnt.
Lage in Friedrichshain sehr gut, einziger Pluspunkt!
- Mirza (8/5): - Location was awesome, having a kitchen in the room is really good!
- Marc (8/5): Adapté au court séjour. - Courte étape d’une nuit.
- Julie (10/5): - This was such an incredible hotel to stay at, the staff was so friendly, everything was clean and well kept and the neighborhood that it is in is the best with so many wonderful eateries and everything within walking distance. The staff also went above and beyond to make sure that I had everything that I needed.
- Britta (6/5): Slarvigt städat rum. Bra läge. - Dåligt städat. Skräpigt under sängen. Lite sunkigt.
Helt ok boende om man vill bo centralt i Fredrichschain.
- Elina (6/5): - One staff member could so visibly not care less it made us uncomfortable, while we tried to be as polite as possible. Luckily the others were very nice and helpful.
One thing that would have been good to inform at check in was that you need to lock the rooms with your key, both from the inside as well as outside when leaving the room. That is not exactly a common practise in hotels, not unheard of, but not common. Also, didn't really feel safe as there is no 24/7 reception and the gate nor the backdoor do not lock automatically. Anyone could've come check out the hallways at night since no patrons locked them behind them (again, no one said we should).
Room quality seems to vary massively. My room was nice, clean and spacious - my friend's was smaller and the bathroom smelled of sewage, and from what I gathered from earlier comments some rooms can be much worse.
The station is close, the area has a certain vibe which is charming, however I would not want to walk out alone at night around there.
- Manuela (4/5): - Noch nie vorher eine derart abgewohnte Unterkunft
genutzt
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The check-in was supposed to be open at 2pm. The room was not ready. Then 1,5h later the room was still not ready! The reception closes at 6pm, so there was no chance to leave luggage there as I had other commitments than to hang out close to the hotel all day! Curtains of the room were dirty and the floor sticky.
- Ilona (10/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal
- Lorena (8/5): - Everything went well!
- Sarah (10/5): - Sehr gutes kleines Hotel inmitten von Friedrichshain
- Alexander (2/5): - It is unacceptable to have your roilet, shower and sinc next to your bed without a separate bathroom. Water dripping all night long. It was like a jailcell. This should not be rented at all.. corridor smells terrible.
- Nacho (8/5): - The hotel was good everything worked properly and the little kitchen in the room made having breakfast so easy. The only problem was that the room was street-side and the noise in the night was quite loud. Apart from that I did not have any problem.
- Johannes (10/5): - Hyvä oli
- Daniela (2/5): - Einfach nur furchtbar
- Torbjörn (6/5): - This is a no frills basic hotel. Clean and feels rather newly renovated. Sheets could be of better quality (my bed sheet was so thin it was basically see-through).
There's no ac in the rooms so on a hot summer's day you would need to sleep with the window open. Bring earbuds if easily disturbed by the city noice.
- Patrick (10/5): - Alles bestens! Super freundlicher Service. Alles unkompliziert. Sehr empfehlenswert.
- GENNARO (10/5): - Tutto ok
- Vidar (6/5): - God lokasjon, hyggelig personalet. Resepsjon og trapperom lukter som et askebeger. Ingen heis.
- Paul (10/5): - Great value for money and a great location too. Within a short walk of the station and also lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
Uppskattas!
- Casandra (2/5): I do not recommend - The first receptionist was really helpful and kind. We arrived late before the reception closed and she helped us. We left our bags in the room and went out. When we came back we realized the room was really dirty. There were stains on the sheet. The floor was not clean and it was over all dusty. The next morning we told the new receptionist about this and her answer were “why didn’t you say so earlier?” Which wasn’t really nice because we hadn’t seen it earlier. They cleaned the room that day and it got better but the lowest part of the bed was still really gross (because the bed was old obviously).
After this the receptionist did not greet us anymore when we walked past her.
The signs said the reception was going to be open until 6 or 8 depending on the day but on the Tuesday in was closed already at 5:30.
Hence everything, we slept very well. But I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Maybe if you like dirty sheets, crooked floors and rude staff.
- Christian (10/5): - Great short stay for Hours.
- Mike (10/5): - Sauberes Zimmer,freundliches Personal,ideale Lage
- Noel (8/5): - It’s cool
- Urban (8/5): Art Fair - Bra avstånd till mässhallen Arena
- Michael (8/5): - Sauber und zweckmäßig, keine Beanstandungen.
- Katja (10/5): - I can recommend this location for staying a few nights.
- Elin (6/5): - There are a lot of good restaurants and cafés just around the corner. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms are small and a bit outdated.
- Andrea (2/5): - Very very basic, not absolutely a 3 stars hotel!
- Adin (8/5): - It was exactly what I expected and was a fair price
- Kevin (8/5): - Cheap , clean and easy access to the arena .
Nothing special and room small , but perfectly ok .
Would recommend for a overnight stay.
- Franziska (6/5): - For a one night sleep in Berlin it's more than ok.
The interior is what it is but you have everything you need. I would say it's more a "party guest" hotel than sth for ppl staying longer in the city.
the room was super clean, nice shower & the location is perfect to reach your desired spots. The staff was very friendly :)
I would def stay here for another night bec the rates are super fair when you're not that long in the hotel anyways ;)
Gerne wieder!
- Bahiru (8/5): - Overall it was good. East to walk to the city, restaurants and different ammentites.
- pamela (8/5): - Overall fine would use this hotel again.
- Thea (10/5): - amazing place very friendly staff, perfect value for money!
- Daniel (8/5): - The hotel knows well its clientele (young, mobile, party people), but has created a nice atmosphere inside a building, which seems run down when seen from the outside. Facilities are correct, but two things could be improved: mattress quality and a safe box.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location is excellent, it's close to several modes of transportation so it's quite easy to reach any of the main attractions in Berlin. The room was clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent value for money. Convenient location for both tourists and business travelers. I'll be back again.
- Eugene (8/5): Overall nice hotel - Train station and rewe supermarket a big bonus for my stay at hotel goldmarie .nice local pubs and restaurants very close .easy to get from airport .room was very spacious and clean .i would have liked to have a fridge in the room and there was plenty of space for one .
- eyal (8/5): Nice place - Great staff, uper nice and helpful. Nice design. Only problem is a lot of stairs and no elevator. If you have luggage do mind to ask a lower floor room. Room was very basic but clean. Nice location in the eastern side, very multicultural area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A nice little clean place. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Service was good.
- Pilar (10/5): Perfect for a short business trip - The hotel is perfect for a business trip
- Maddie (10/5): Fantastic stay for budget business trip! - For the price, it was perfect.
Nice size room with clean bed linen and towels.
Room on 1st floor - was a tad noisy but my colleague was on the 2nd floor, where it was much quieter.
Overall, fantastic stay and would highly recommend for budget business people or travellers looking for a safe and secure option.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it’s close to the metro, tram, bus, markets, great restaurants.
no elevator
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very basic hotel lodging with stairs only. The location is excellent, shower was excellent, bed was comfortable. Excellent breakfast/lunch places within 100m of front door. Helpful staff ;-)
- Georgia (6/5): Suitable for a one night stay. - The location was excellent. The Wifi was great. The room was very clean. The rooms are very small for 2 people, the beds were too soft. Our room was not cleaned the first night. Towels were not replaced. I would recommend it for a one night stay only and make sure you ask reception for towels and room to be cleanbed.
- John (4/5): - Rooms were OK, entrance and stairs were forbidding.
- Octavio (2/5): ot recomendable at all - Very unconfortable ,very noysy room, lack of even ONE glass for tootpaste and brush, no even place for champoo and douchegel bottles, very dissapointed.
No dark to sleep, curtains doesnt cover the window always illuminated.
High price for nothing just a bed and shower
I will never return
😖😖😖😖😖
checking out 11,00am very bad ínstead of checking out at 3 or 4 pm jet to compensate a little all the lacks.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s okay, very friendly staff, clean, but very small rooms, nothing special, but good for a 1 night stop
- Mark (4/5): - I honesty think a hostel is better! From the time you get your room key expect disappointment. No elevator and of course I was on the 3rd floor. Realized that there was no air condition, towels, or toiletries. On my second night I realized that there was no toilet paper in thd room. I thought maybe housekeeping forgot. On the third night, still no toilet paper. Thank fully I am prepare. The good thing is that transportation was easy to find. The gentleman in tge afternoon at the reception is very nice!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Welcoming and helpful staff and first floor for me made luggage to room easy. Only mins to eating places and 'The wall' is only 10 mins walk way. No coffee or tea making facilities and not secure for bicycle storage in open rear yard.
- Adam (10/5): Great location and excellent value - I give this place top marks for how its quality compares to its cost. Doubtless, there are fancier hotels -- but I stayed for a week during the busy season (early August) and paid about $45/night with taxes (less than $40/night during the weekdays) for a clean comfortable double room (I may have been upgraded without having been told about it? I paid for a single room but The room I got had two adjacent mattresses and was larger than I had anticipated based on pictures) in a rather nice-looking hotel in a perfect location (right in heart of Freidrichshain with a tram stop directly outside the hotel). If you come during the summer and plan on staying for a bit, I suggest buying a fan (got one for 13 euro at Real at Frankfurter Allee) as they don't have air conditioning.
- Chenjie (10/5): - The place is close to S/U train stations and bus lines. It is very clean. It is close to a busy road but I use earplugs even at home, so not really a thing. There are good food places on the same block. It is very good value for the price.
- Yuet Ming (10/5): 110% Better than expected - This recently renovated hotel is in a vibrant, arty area full of music, restaurants for vegans and carnivores, and street art.
Despite the ‘scruffy’ looking building and grafitti outside, which is in character with the area, the Reception and lobby area is beautifully decorated and clean, staffed by lovely, friendly people 24-hours a day.
My en-suite single room was very clean, comfortable and quiet being at the back of the building. Enough power points to charge many devices.
Wi-Fi was a bit iffy in room, had to re-enter password several times but speed was good. Write or photograph the password so it’s to hand instead of walking up and down stairs to Reception - No lifts!
Very good transport location. Within walking distance to The Wall - remnants of the Berlin Wall which has become a canvas for well-known local and international Street artists. The Wall Museum is worth a visit.
Will definitely stay there again when visiting Berlin.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property doesn't look like much from the outside, it's even hard to spot. Once you go in everything is spotless and fairly new.
My room was in the 3rd floor and having to go up the stairs was the only thing I liked the least. Everything else was very proper.
Room was small but lovely and staff were always helpful.
I'd definitely recommend to other travels and might be back myself.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - When I travel I would much rather spend money on experiences instead of a fancy hotel. For me and my lifestyle, a perfect hotel is one that is clean, quiet, safe, convenient and affords me the sleep and showers I'll need. Based on this Hotel Gold Marie was perfect in every way. Yes the room is small and they don't have refrigerators, microwaves or someone to deliver a glass of water to you at 2AM, but when you're in another country you should be out eating and drinking and getting to know the local culture anyway. It's a super short walk to every local bar, restaurant, gift shop and train. This place is honestly on my list for my next visit because they do exactly what you need them to do and they do it extremely well. I'm a very happy customer.
- Michelle (8/5): Great place at good price - The exterior looks kind of run down but once you're inside the door it's charmingly remodeled throughout the entire building. The hotel doesn't have an elevator which made my room on the 5th floor somewhat tedious to reach. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Great place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great room at a great price - Good location. Close to public transport. Modern bathroom. Could have been a little cleaner.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Area: good location for sightseeing. Not family friendly. Seems to be a high concentration of pickpockets in the area. The local club seems ok with alternative music and punk nights.
Hotel: looks grim from outside but inside reception/halls etc are nice and welcoming.
Room: we had a triple. Room was good size but nothing fancy. 3 beds, a wardrobe and a desk. That was it. Bathroom didnt have enough room to swing a hamster, never mind a cat. If your over 5ft7 or of a slightly larger build then you couldnt get in the bathroom without either clambering into the shower or sitting in the sink! We had to edge in sideways and breathe in just to close the door. If the door opened outward there would be no problem but for some reason they chose to fit the door opening inwards so it only opened a third of the way.
Bedroom window cracked and draughty and didnt close fully. Generally room could have been great but in dire need of basic repairs.
Amenities : none. No kettle, cups or anything.
Its ok if you only want somewhere to lay your head for the night. Anything longer and i would reccomend looking elsewhere.
Hotel has good potential its just not being utilised.
- Rodrigo (8/5): Good value for money - Very nice hotel, located close to Train, Metro and tram lines, in a trendy region with loads of restaurants, bars, clubs and many options around. The hotel is simple and don't have an elevator, so keep an eye on that in case you stay in a high floor. The room is very simple but has enough space and everything you expect and need of a hotel. It was a good value for money.
- Rodrigo (10/5): Loved it - Big place, amazing location, friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small cozy place, near to S bahn.
- Daniel (6/5): Great location, lacking amentities - The location of the hotel is excellent for getting around both Friedrichshain and Berlin.
Service is hit and miss - mostly friendly but check out was slow and lacking politeness.
Be aware there is no lift in the hotel, and no basic amenities are provided - there is a supermarket very close by.
On the first day of our stay we told staff that the shower was leaking. This was never dealt with during our 4 night stay, nor did they offer to move us to another room, so we constantly stayed with a puddle on our bathroom floor.
The room was two single beds pushed together, which rolled apart constantly, otherwise there was a small wardrobe with a few hangers. The size of the room is very small, it is basically just the bed. A great place if you don’t plan to spend any time in the hotel.
