Guest Reviews
- Gaby (10/5): - Great food, great staff
- Lauren (8/5): - The view from the property is lovely. Would have liked to have visited the algae baths nearby but they weren't open. Room was nice but small. Bathroom was certainly passable but not roomy - stubbed my toe on the very high threshold more than once. Overall a pleasant stay. Was nice breakfast was included as well!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The rooms were clean and quiet, breakfast was delicious
- Colleen (10/5): - Clean and spacious rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly. Dinner on site was excellent -hearty! Breakfast and coffee was delicious
This place is in a spectacular location just a few minutes drive from National Park and amazing views
- Lynnette (10/5): - Lovely guesthouse and awesome restaurant. The staff and owner are super friendly and make you fell very welcome. A bit windy the night we got there but it calmed down half way through the night. Would definitely stay there again.
- John (8/5): - Nice place in a beautiful setting.
- Gainha (10/5): 뷰가 기가 막힙니다 - 끝내주는 경험이었어요~
뷰가 시원해요!
서쪽에 가신다면 강력하게 추천해요.
- Lois (8/5): - Check in process was very easy. Breakfast was as expected and the bread was really nice. Only weird thing was the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor.
- Alejandro (10/5): - Great
- Diane (10/5): - Staf was welcoming
- Bernardo (8/5): - Check in was quick, very friendly staff.Very modest bedroom amenities, no dresser, no closet, just a shelf and two hangers. Privacy curtains not very private and black out curtains not much black out. Decent enough breakfast and very good dinner options and portions size, simple and effective.
- nizar (10/5): - Very friendly and hospitable service... family run business
- Ann-Julie (10/5): - Pros : Great guesthouse, very clean and functional. The blackout curtain were quite good compared to other guesthouses in our trip. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was fine.
Cons : there's no common room except the restaurant area, so its only tables and you're in the way of the staff.
- sharon (10/5): - New rooms, beautiful location.
- William (10/5): - Boutique hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Nice restaurant/bar on site.
- Megan (10/5): - Very nice place to stay at for our first night in Iceland. Kast has a restaurant and they offer dinner for their guests. It was amazing food! Highly recommend, prices are reasonable. Enjoyed the breakfast that was included in the morning, too.
- Frederic (10/5): - I nice quiet place near the highway. Very close to sights on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
- Supreet (10/5): - Very close to all locations, great starting point for Snaeflessness
- AINGEAL (10/5): - Beautiful location with great mluntain views. Breakfast provided and great options available. One really impressive item, the linen and pillow quality. The room and our shared bathroom were very clean.
- Mark (4/5): - The surrounding area and view was amazing, but the property (guest rooms) need investment to prevent them from appearing to be run down or dated. It could be enhanced with decorating, new furniture and some in room technology. The wifi in the guest room we were given was non-existent.
As we checked in, there were 5 customer groups in front of us waiting for service. Food was being carried out to tables in the restaurant area in front of us. We saw that the kitchen was due to close at 9pm and it was already 8.55pm, so we quickly asked one of the busy staff members carrying food whether we could still order as we hadn't eaten since breakfast. He returned from the kitchen and told us that "all the food had gone and orders were finished - Nothing left from the menu". When we eventually checked in at the desk we qualified this with the receptionist, who went to the kitchen again and came back to explain that they could only offer mushroom soup and bread. As she also confirmed that this would be the only food option for miles around, we asked for 2 portions (watery and disgusting). Once we had finished eating, taken bags to the room, the three hotel staff members on duty were seen tucking in to three plates of the other options from the menu.
This is the very worst in customer service, when they had all kitchen ingredients to quickly prepare something else for themselves or us as paying guests!
A good hotel location let down by selfish staff, leading to a poor visitor experience.
- Katie (10/5): - Amazing stay! The Kast guesthouse has everything you need. Cute and quaint location nestled at the bottom of the beautiful mountains. Comfortable beds. We had a private bathroom with met our standards and the staff was incredibly friendly. You can make a reservation for dinner there. Breakfast included, which was nice. They even have boxed sandwich lunches available for purchase, which was helpful as there are not many places to stop in between. Great find and would highly recommend!
- Roger (8/5): - Moldy odor in bathroom
- Rebecca (8/5): - Rooms slightly outdated but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and property is very comfortable and a great place to walk around and enjoy.
- Cindy (10/5): - Beautiful property! The guesthouse was spacious and had everything we needed. The staff was friendly. We took advantage of the restaurant on site and we were glad we did. Excellent food! The broccoli soup was delicious and the cod was some of the best we had during our trip. Breakfast in the morning was also very good. A driving tip: watch out for sheep as you are driving to and from this property. They cross the road quickly and we even came across some laying in the road.
- Emilie (10/5): - Staff were accommodating & friendly, enjoyed their breakfast, great variety.
- HANA (10/5): - Location, breakfast time facility . The owner was very pleasant
- Alexandru (10/5): - Great location! Great staff! Very clean property! Highly recommend!
- Rahul Anil (10/5): - Absolutely amazing property and very well located to move around in the Snæfellsnes area.
- Cheryl (6/5): Surprisingly amazing dinner! - The look of the guesthouse is very basic, not very appealing. You check in at the dining area, which was very nice inside. Our room was small and tight, we had to open our suitcases, get the things we needed and closed them up because we couldn't leave it open. The bathroom was very small, nowhere really to put any toiletries. There was not hairdryer, and only shower gel. We did not get a hand towel. There were little flies or gnats between the curtain and window, so we did not open the windows for fear of more insects coming in. We ate at the restaurant and that was the absolute star of the stay. The food was absolutely delicious! Both dinner and breakfast were very good! The beds were comfortable as well, but it was just very warm in the room
- Hatim (10/5): - Clean and friendly staff
- Emilie (10/5): - Staff were accommodating for our late arrival. Our flight was delayed, this made our arrival to Kast Guesthouse at 3 a.m. It was comforting knowing our room would be available upon arrival.
Bed was comfortable & breakfast was amazing. Thanks for making our stay
Enjoyable.
- Elaine (2/5): - I do not recommend! Do not reserve! They do not reply to messages, do not answer the phone therefore we were unable to check-in and were left without a place to stay that night. And they will not refund our money even though they did not provide us the room we paid for!
- Ariana (10/5): - Incredible location with sweeping views, great food at the restaurant. Friendly kitty was a bonus.
- Dustin (10/5): - Excellent stay. Highly recommend. The breakfast was the best part.
- Helga (8/5): - Beautiful setting. Great food and staff. Rooms small and quite warm. But the rest made up for any imperfection with the size.
- Tannis (10/5): - Overall good experience. Easy check in and out process. The room was very clean but did show signs of she (scuffs etc.). Very friendly staff and food was good. Great location for sites in the area.
- Tanner (10/5): - Felt cozy. Great view. Good soup. Overall great.
- Sonia (10/5): - Property was clean and staff was friendly.
Restaurants and shops are within walking distance.
- Colleen (8/5): - The property was clean and the staff was friendly. The view was incredible. We woke up to the mountains behind us and the ocean and horses in front of us. The only thing was the shower was hard to operate and there is not 24 hour front desk. It was also hard to find a cheap restaurant close by although there were more expensive options. all in all, we loved the room and property and would recommend!
- Gert (10/5): - Nice resort, good Dinner, friendly staff.
- John (10/5): Wonderful and Wonderous stay at Kast Guesthouse - The staff is so friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the restaurant. It's so close to some amazing horse tours and a beach with seals! Greatest views of the Northern Lights on a clear night
- Heather (8/5): - Breakfast was great! Everyone was nice. It was comfortable and quiet!
- Vincent (10/5): - Very nice hotel
- Janice (10/5): - Had a comfortable stay. I was warm and cozy with a storm blowing outside. The desk clerk told me that the northern lights “would be going crazy” the night I stayed, and they were indeed spectacular!
- Paul (10/5): - This guesthouse is the perfect location for the Snafellsjkull pennisula. It lets you stay in one place and drive 3 separate locations. It was super super quiet, clean, and warm. Their heated floors were so good after a cold day hiking and seeing the sites.
- Ernie (8/5): - Breakfast included
- Stefano (10/5): - Excellent hotel to explore snasfellnes!
- Daniel (8/5): - .
- Stephen (10/5): - Fabulous location to enjoy the Icelandic countryside. Extremely well kept. Wonderful breakfast. Very welcoming to tourists.
- Tina (10/5): - We went to see the Northern Lights, and what a show we saw. The location was perfect. Our biggest surprise was dinner. We had not made any plans for dinner and decided to eat at the hotel...it was the best meal we had our whole trip. Highly recommend.
- Terri (10/5): - Some of Iceland's hidden gems are their guesthouses. Kast is out there on the windswept peninsula surrounded by mountains and sea, and of course Icelandic horses and sheep. Facilities are clean and comfy. Wonderful kitchen serving chef-prepared lamb, cod, etc. For the included breakfast, there is the full Icelandic layout. Wonderful!! I'd stay there again.
- Kenneth (10/5): - friendly
- Gary (4/5): - No amenities. No microwave. Shower leaks all over bathroom floor. I would not recommend. But the staff were ok.
- Barbara (10/5): Dramatic location and great experience! - Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a large window and could see the ocean in the distance. We enjoyed an excellent dinner there as well as breakfast which was included. The two nights of our stay the northern lights provided a beautiful show.
- Corey (10/5): - Simply a lovely place to stay on the peninsula, highly recommend
- Wendy (10/5): - Lovely stay in a stunning location. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
- Bruce (10/5): - This property is in such a stunning location. The staff are so kind and so helpful - they make you feel like you're extended family coming for a stay. The food was AMAZING.
- Liudmyla (10/5): - Great place to spend a night. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was generous. Highly recommended!
- Christopher (2/5): - I made a mistake in booking my stay, picked the wrong month. As soon as I realized my mistake, a month in advance of the booking, I requested a cancellation and refund. I did not receive a reply. I hope the house keeping staff appreciated not having to clean an unused room for two nights.
- Sonali (10/5): - clean and great view!
- Mahender (10/5): - Words can’t describe how good we felt staying there for 2 nights . Friendly staff ..always smiling and happy to assist you . It’s located amongst the mountains ..with beautiful views . Feel so out of the world..watching the landscapes from the room and general reception area. Five stars to the staff Roxanne, Diego , Alexandro and Leo who were all truly amazing humans. We met Darren the owner at breakfast the morning we were checking out …and he seems to be the reason for building this family owned place and keeping it as is now.
- Allison (10/5): - Great spot to stay if you are headed through the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Rooms are very cozy and updated. Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The best bread i've had in Iceland.
- Paula (10/5): - Kast Guesthouse was a nice place to stay for a reasonable price. Breakfast was included which was nice, and they have dinner options as well which I enjoyed. My room was comfortable.
- Francisco (10/5): - Property located in a 15 minute radius from many tourist spots.
Clean new and well sized room.
Polite and attentive staff
Restaurant food was very good at dinner and breakfast.
- alison (8/5): - A sweet little guesthouse for one night. The room was a bit cramped but we made do. Loved the heated bathroom floor. Bonus that it was walking distance to the pool!
- KATHLEEN (10/5): - The people were welcoming and attentive. Setting was beautiful with horses in fields of lupins would stay here again. Meals available on site. Good light blocking curtains.
- Cindy (8/5): - The room we stayed in with a private bathroom was small, but fine. Solid floors, good lighting, nice water pressure, easy to control water temperature, very good mattress. The staff was friendly. The area is pretty remote, but gives you easy access to Snaeffellsjokull National Park. Dinner was very good and reasonable price, breakfast had a good assortment (although as an American, I’ll be glad to not see any more salami and cheese for breakfast). The only negative I have is the poor communication prior to our stay. I sent two messages through Expedia, and one email directly to Kast with no response. This was after I called, and was told I needed to email my request.
- Andrea (8/5): - This is my second stay at the property. First time in the newer building which is much more spacious. This time was a smaller, more aged room. Staff is wonderful, breakfast decent Icelandic typical selection. Spectacular location and very nice dinner options, fish is excellent.
- Andrea (10/5): - Perfect place to stay during our travels!
- KEVIN (10/5): - Great staff, clean room, excellent restaurant. Nice rural location.
- Stacey (8/5): - Great stay here. Perfect stop for the night
- Carol (6/5): Not impressed - Our room was clean and comfortable, but the door to our room was translucent, and there was no covering for it (we asked). With the sun being up for 21 hours, our room was bright, in spite of the fact that there were blackout drapes on the window. The drapes themselves did not hook on the track correctly in the middle. There was no soap in the shower dispenser. The chicken dinner in the restaurant was poor. The chicken leg was puny. Of all the dinners we had in Iceland, this was the most disappointing.
- shawn (10/5): - Friendly staff with great suggestions on what to do in the area, great breakfast (with meats and cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes, cereals, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, amazing bread), close to seal beach and waterfalls and coastal hike, clean basic room
- Adele (10/5): - They gave us a referral for horseback riding that was th highlight of our trip! The view out our window was incredible and the breakfast kept us fueled for the day!
- Stephen (10/5): - Very friendly and in a beautiful setting
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful 2 night stay. Clean, nice breakfast. Good location.
- Fangkun (8/5): - Good breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good views.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and great service from the friendly staff. I would definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice & Cozy! - Very cozy and nice place, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers good food and cozy dining.
Did a horse riding tour with nearby Lýsuhóll, and the owner was very accommodating, did a last-minute tour at 9 pm with us.
- Coby (10/5): Great stay at Kast Guesthouse. - The staff was extremely kind and friendly. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious.
- Dave (10/5): Nice Guesthouse and Restaurant - Wonderful rooms and a great location. The food was excellent too.
- John (10/5): - Great food, scenic views, wonderful staff
- Stephanie (10/5): - This property was incredibly clean. We had dinner one night there and it was excellent. The free breakfast is great and the beds were very comfortable. Was a great stay!
- John (10/5): - Wonderful stay fantastic dinner !!
- Harald (6/5): - We were assigned a room in the old building, not the new one which was shown in the pictures on expedia. Room was renovated, but not in great condition.
- laurie (10/5): - Very nice hotel in a remote location but I liked that. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Venkatesh (10/5): - This off the main road and close to the mountains property is a must stay when you visit West Iceland
- Joshua (10/5): - Nice accomodation. It is not located near anything, which makes for a very quiet stay. Perfect for people looking to really feel like they are off the grid but still very comfortable. Good dinner and breakfast and staff was very friendly.
- Jeffrey (2/5): - extremely rude staff, would not recommend
- Stephen (10/5): - Beautiful location , fantastic food, lovely rooms and great staff
- Laura (10/5): - Everything was wonderful! Very clean and everyone was so helpful. We chose to have dinner on site. Great views and delicious.
Perfect ending to our day. Pup was the added bonus.
- Maria (10/5): - The place is nice, clan and very comfortable with great variety for a buffet breakfast in the morning. Location is absolutely beautiful with many amazing hikes and points of interest short driving distance away. The only downside of the location is probably the fact that there aren’t too many dinner options, and they are expensive. We were there off season in February , it may be different in the summer.
- Carol (8/5): Top notch - The breakfast spread was excellent. Enjoyed the homemade bread! Dinner was also delicious.
- Adele (10/5): - Absolutely loved our stay there. The room was lovely, staff was very welcoming and helpful, food was amazing at dinner and breakfast included was also very nice!
- Yui min (10/5): - Very clean. Big room and bathroom.
Good breakfast.
Excellent to view Northern lights!!!
- Daphne (10/5): - Excelente
- Peter (10/5): - The view, view and the view (and the dinner was delicious, too)!
- Say Thiang Jonathan (8/5): - Good
- Manisha (10/5): - Really quaint place that is easily accessible to all the wonders of the peninsula. The staff were exquisitely nice and the location was hard to beat. What we loved about it was that we wanted an understated place that’s away from the hustle bustle. Most of Iceland is like this in the less tourist areas but this took us to a whole different level of peace and tranquility. Really loved supporting this family-owned business and its amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Can’t wait to come back!
- Ichiko (6/5): - I like most of the property
