• Andrew (8/5): - Excellent location. Rooftop terrace very good. I am too old to get up from futon and also would liked a chair in bedroom. Gora is best place if you have only limited time in Hakone and the property is only a very short walk to transport.

• Wendy (10/5): - We arrived just after 2pm to leave our luggage, but instead were warmly welcomed and given our room key. The Gaku hotel is maybe 10 minutes’ walk from the train station through the underground passageway. One public onsen is also about 10 minutes away on foot. Despite the very convenient location, the neighborhood is near-silent, very serene with a major park just up the hill. We heard no noise at all from our second-floor room. Our tatami was clean and airy, with air conditioning and extra bedding in the closet. The bathing facilities were separate but ample for all guests to use, uncrowded and unrushed. There was a communal kitchen and fridge, as well as vending machine, area to play pool. The same friendly Mr Ryogo Komuro who checked us carried my bag up the stairs from the street to the second floor room and later provided very detailed travel info for the limited time (2 days) we had available to enjoy the Hakone Loop with our Hakone Free Pass. Highly recommend this hotel, if you can do without the traditional ryokan experience with in-room meals and onsen!

• Kostadina (4/5): - At booking, I had made a mistake in dates and asked for a small change but was refused, thus losing a night’s payment of about £70. When l stayed at the property, l was alone most of the time, so l know that the change of dates l had asked for could have easily been accommodated. When in Japan, it was extremely difficult to reach the property on the phone. I had to seek assistance from Expedia on every step. At the property itself, no maintenance whatsoever — garbage was not picked up a single time during my week-long stay. With the exception of a staff member called Yogi who tried to be nice,, the rest was disappointing. Expedia should not be promoting this place.

• KarenKim (10/5): - My family and I stayed at the Tsubaki room for two nights. The room is originally for three people but the hostel nicely provided another futon for a fee. It was so cold when we stayed at the hostel so we didn't get to hang out at the rooftop but we enjoyed playing pool and table tennis on the first floor. We also needed duct tape for my luggage--good thing they had one. The hostel smells nice, too!
• Angel (6/5): - Para nada lo esperado, reservamos una habitación de 4 personas aunque nos íbamos a alojar solo dos, pues la habitación era pequeña. En la descripción no mencionaba que fuera de baño compartido y para estar en invierno tenian la calefacción apagada y tenias que encenderla tu al llegar teniendo que estar en un habitación congelada hasta que se consiguiera calentar pasadas algunas horas, ademas la ventana tenia una grieta en el cristal.

Moving around is very convenient. During our stay, the cable car is under maintenance. It was replaced by buses. There was a common lounge and cooking area. There's aldona rooftop where one can relax there. In the ground floor, there's recreation area.

• A (10/5): - 県内からの観光で利用させていただきました。 宿泊当日は夜から雨が降ったのですが、駅から近かったのであまり濡れることもなく行けたので良かったです。 歯ブラシとバスタオルが無料で借りられました。 宿泊したフロアーにお手洗い(男女別)、洗面スペース、シャワールームがありました。 室内に、徒歩1分ほどのところにあるエンブレムフローというホテルの朝食夕食の案内があったので、そちらの朝食を利用させていただきました。予約なしで利用でき、オシャレで美味しい朝食をいただけました。

• Tari (10/5): - A 5-7min walk from Gora station, and there's the underpass you have to cross with stairs leading up and down. Reception was on the 3rd floor if I recall correctly, so again, you have to bring your luggage up, and then to whichever level your room is on. Toilets are clean, bathroom is nice and spacious. Sinks are available at the end of the hallway on each level too. You can stay in the common space until certain hours, there's a console there. Pool table on the first floor, and there's a rooftop too, both of which you'll need to seek permission from whoever is at the reception.
• Susanti (10/5): Kind staff - Zaku is very kind to help us take all our suitcases to 3rd floor. We have 3 large suitcases and 4 cabin cases and because we are catching the Hakone ropeway, we just leave all bags to Zaku and he brought it all to our room. The room is large for 7 persons, very comfortable and we can sleep very well. We even cooked the rice and boiled the water. Meet some guests from Sidney and Indonesia too. Shared livingroom. The only cons is the stairs is bery narrow to 3rd floor. From gora sta, find a tunnel and go down and up stairs, then go straight, the hotel is not far from there in the right side. Use google maps.
• Max (8/5): 静かなホテル - チェックイン、チェックアウトがスムーズでした。 スタッフがとても親切でした。 ただ、室内の照明が暗い気がしました。それと入口の照明はつきませんでした。 部屋の設備はローテーブル、エアコン、クローゼット、ハンガー、ティッシュ、ゴミ箱。 トイレ、お風呂、水回り、冷蔵庫、金庫は室内にありません。 フロントは3階になります。使用済みのシーツ等は3階のボックスに自分たちで片付けるシステムです。 静かで快適に過ごせました。 また機会があれば利用したいと思います。

• Joseph (10/5): Everything is good - We had a great time at this guesthouse, it’s very cozy and the person in charge is very friendly to us thought they speak very little Japanese. We were given a tatami room for the night, and you have to make your bed.

• Hamid (8/5): Great place in a great location - This accommodation is located in a great place where you can easily access beautiful Hakone and surrounding area. The accommodation itself was great. The manager was a great guy too. The only problem was that we had to share facilities such as bathroom and kitchen with anyone else. But, the price was reasonable for a shared accommodation. I recommend this place for a short stay in Hakone.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hosts and location, pretty near the train station. Do note that there will be stairs from the train station to the hostel and again at the hostel. Hosts were very helpful and glad to help with the luggages at the hostel. Luggage service to and from the Hakone-Yumoto station is also available for a fee and is a very convenient and cheap alternative to dragging your own suitcases around.
• Victoria (8/5): Super Near and have all necessary items! - It is located super near to the Gora Station. Approximately less than 2 mins walk from the station. The owner speaks good English and pretty helpful. Aside, you may leave your baggage in the hostel after checkout and went to get your baggage before you leave Hakone. Which is every convenient as after you check out at the hostel, you might still travel around Hakone area. The hostel is clean and bathrooms are equipped with bath tub. Perfect after a day of walking. There is a kitchen and guests are free to use the kettle, microwave, oven etc. Which if you would like to cook yourself it will be nice. They also sell beer and other drinks. Aside, there is a very famous and good restaurant near to the hostel, "Ginkatsu Kobou" which serve good food. But bear in mind, a lot of people visit the restaurant so do go there early to get a number. It's a nice place but there is no elevator in the building. But I will still go back to Gaku Hostel for my Hakone revisit.
