Guest Reviews
- Kathy (10/5): Beautiful property and relaxing place to stay. - Picked up keys at a reception near the train station. It was smooth and well communicated. We were given taxi vouchers for the short journey to the accommodation as well as maps and general information that was very helpful. The home was traditional yet spacious for our family. We were very comfortable with the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms and the location was perfect.
- Krystine (10/5): Hands down one of the best homes I have stayed in. Beautiful property and awesome location. -
- Thomas (9/5): Great stay - Large and good facilities, lovely beds A little noisy
- Hsu (10/5): - 環境
- Laurentiu (9/5): Excellent stay. - Internal garden Missing a coffee machines.
- Imma (10/5): Acollidor - Ambient molt agradable, un jardi molt maco, habitacions comodes i un menjador molt ampli.
Aire acondicionat a tot arreu, que ha fet una estada més agrable.
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location and the amenities offered. Was a beautiful oasis
- Shyama (10/5): I would recommend this place - It was comfy and neat. It had an enclosed indoor garden and enough space for all of us. Its traditional building style made it quaint and relaxing. It’s quite close to a train line and buses are a short walk away
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stefan (8/5): Perfect stay - Challenging for tall people

- Sirapob (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Every comfort provided - The design and construction are second to none making for an exceptionally comfortable stay. The traditional Japanese garden courtyard was a delight. We felt privileged to stay here. We loved it all
- Matthew (9/5): Beautiful place to stay in a quiet neighborhood of Kyoto - Very beautiful location to stay in. It's a little out of the way if you want to be closer to bus stations, but maybe that's a plus to avoid crowds/noise, and the walk isn't terribly long. I was given taxi accommodations to bring my luggage over.
Size was overkill for three guests only staying one night, but it was more for the experience. If you have a larger group, the extra space will be very convenient, and you can make use of the kitchen and other amenities. This wasn't terribly inconvenient for me since my travel plans worked out this way, but you have to check-in at a separate office beforehand (near Kyoto JR station). If you can't arrive until later in the day, maybe it'd be hard to plan around, but for me, it was fine.
- Grace (10/5): Would stay here next time I’m in Kyoto - the house was a highlight of the trip - Peaceful location by the river, very walkable to Kyoto Station and Kiyomizu Dera Temple. Impeccably clean inside, adorable garden, LOVED the tub and bathroom, comfy beds. This house was honestly one of the highlights of the trip!
- Ronnie (10/5): - Great spot, very clean, organized, friendly, and an awesome experience overall!! Thank you
- Sarah (10/5): - Our stay here was a delight. Beautiful accommodation and it was so cool to get to stay in one of these traditional machiya. The bath especially was so nice and kept us going after long days of lots of walking. Location was very convenient being right by Shichijo station and several bus stops, with a convenience store right down the street.
There was a mixup with our luggage (arrived a day early) and the check-in staff handled it for us even though it's not really supposed to be part of the services they provide. They also had a fantastic info packet for us when we checked in with things to do in the area, recommended restaurants, advice on local transportation and shipping your luggage, as well as a voucher that covers the distancd for a taxi ride from the check-in location to the machiya. This info packet helped us out multiple times and was extremely well put together.
This was our favorite place we stayed during our vacation and we hope to be able to come back in the future.
- Alexander (10/5): Perfect for exploring Kyoto. - Nicely refurbished machiya with all the amenities one could wish for. -
- To (9/5): Very comfortable stay - very comfortable bed; well equipped kitchen; host kindly helped to arrange transportation Better if there is a dining table with chairs
- Rosie (10/5): Beautiful traditional experience with modern touches - Amazing experience in a traditional Kyoto townhouse. Very comfortable with a luxurious feel. The check in was smooth and the staff very helpful, even helped us fill out luggage transport forms in Japanese. Bathroom is a real highlight! For 4 friends sharing we had to compromise a little on privacy, one room is a twin room and the other is a double bed. There are also futons which can be laid out in the living room, be warned it's very similar to sleeping on the floor. Mind your head if you are tall!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - とても綺麗なお部屋で過ごしやすかったです。
Switch
