- Simon (8/5): -
- Ernesta (5/5): Good for Appartement, not Hotel - We stayed here for one week as a family of four (two adults and two young children) and left with mixed feelings.
On the positive side, the accommodation itself was a real highlight: we had a charming, spacious little house entirely to ourselves, which was perfect for a family. The surroundings are genuinely beautiful — green fields, roaming sheep, peacocks, and friendly animals that the kids absolutely loved. As a personal touch, the team kindly arranged a birthday cake, and even surprised us with a bottle of local Madeira wine. That gesture was truly appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly affected by a number of practical shortcomings. Upon arrival, there was nobody present to carry out check-in, which set a frustrating tone from the start. Throughout the stay, there was no reception and no staff on site to address questions or concerns — all communication had to go through Booking.com, even for urgent matters.
The property is listed as a hotel with breakfast included, but the service level was closer to a self-catering apartment. Room cleaning during the week was minimal, dishes were not washed, and bed linen and towels were not changed. Breakfast consisted of fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, and milk restocked in the fridge, with a limited supply of eggs — nothing more. Coffee required prompting to be refilled, and coffee filters were not provided at all at the start.
Towards the end of our stay, the upkeep seemed to decline further: kitchen towels ran out on the last day and were never replaced. The rooms are unheated, which may be typical for Madeira, but is worth noting. Hot water was available in the shower and kitchen, but not at the bathroom sink — which was also the only place with a mirror. The water pressure at the sink was very low, making washing or shaving impractical. Several buildings on the property appeared to be under active construction, which may have contributed to some of these issues.
Overall, the impression was that the property is currently investing in renovation while cutting back on guest comforts and staffing. Had it been listed as a self-catering apartment, expectations would have been set accordingly and the experience would have felt much more positive. The location and the space genuinely have great potential — we just hope the service catches up once the building work is complete.

Cisza i komfort własnego domku z kominkiem.
Pyszne wino z Madery, świąteczne ciastko i kosz owoców. Super.
Kolejnym minusem to poziom śniadania. Dla czterech osób dostaliśmy 2 paczki krojonych wędlin, paczkę sera i 4 jajka plus słoiczek dżemu. Zestaw był taki sam codziennie.
- Galit (9/5): A sweet small apartment in a small village - - We loved the bathroom - big, beautiful and with a very good shower.
- The host was extremely nice, gave us lots of information, she noticed I had a cold and offered to bring lemons (really appreciated!) and some vegetables directly from the garden which we used to make a delicious dinner.
- There is a friendly rabbit in the area, goats and sheep and free roaming peacocks.
- The village has some restaurants, bars and grocery stores, a nice church with tiles, a really nice park with a small 'zoo' and a viewpoint.
- We made a beautiful Levada walk in the nearby village - Machico.
- Parking available right near the apartment.
- Quiet! Nothing not to like, however it's not luxury if that's what you are looking for
- Tomáš (9/5): I would recommend this place and the host was super nice. She brought us fresh local mangos every day! - Nice location at the countryside in a forest The fireplace was out of order so there was a high humidity.
- Ryszard (10/5): -
- Janette (10/5): Beautiful, quiet and simple location in the mountains - Up in the mountains and a working farm. Wonderful farmers market on Sunday. Quiet ambiance. Friendly owners/staff. Nice simple breakfast left each day. If you like golf, Club Santo da Serra is 5 min away Funchal is 30-40 minutes
- Martina (9/5): - Nice and peaceful accommodation; 15 minute drive from the airport. The host, Joana, was very kind and caring. A big breakfast with lots of fruits is brought directly to the room, tea and coffee is also available. The room is spacious with a comfortable bed which guarantees you get a good night's sleep. Outdated furniture. The TV from our neighbours was a bit loud sometimes.
- justyna (9/5): Wszystko czego potrzeba, idealna baza wypadowa.
Śniadanie - bułki, owoce, jajka, mleko, konfitura, ser i szynka.
Bardzo czysto - regularnie wymieniane ręczniki, wszystko zadbane. W pokoju kawiarka, kuchenka, żelazko, suszarka, grzejnik do suszenia ubrań.
- Laura (9/5): -
Snídaně byly skvělé, každý den čerstvé bio vajíčka, šunka, sýr, máslo, mléko, čerstvý chleba, marmeláda a ovoce.
- rodolfo (10/5): - Tutto Niente
- Bronte (10/5): - Lovely house on a beautiful farm!
Friendly staff who gave us lots of helpful information and recommendations.
- Hans (8/5): -
- Carmen - België (8/5): - zeer mooie locatie, in the middle of nowhere
- Krista (7/5): -
- Jana (9/5): -
- Ana (6/5): Pleasant - The location is in greenery. Cold enviroment in the hills of Madeira. The accommodation is outdated and had a strong, unpleasant smell, with high humidity that made it difficult to tolerate. There were also many mosquitoes in the bathrooms. Luckly in the room is provided the mosquito repellet.
Additionally, the walkway in front of the house was somewhat dirty and could benefit from a high-pressure cleaning.
- Ingrid (8/5): Nice quiet place to stay - old farmhouse - Peaceful farm location in rural village
Very helpful host
- Jon (10/5): Clean, friendly, comfortable, exceptional. - Joana Pereira was absolutely fantastic! Her welcome was warm and friendly, she assisted us with some of the walks we planned with her local knowledge. The house was beautiful and in a lovely setting. This really made our holiday special. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Caterina (8/5): Nice Cozy staying in the nature - Cozy nice farm in the mountains. Nice atmosphere with animals in the nature. Very nice and available staff!
- Susanne (9/5): Lovely stay at green property with small livestock - We loved to stay at this farm with some small animals, like a pony, a pig, several sheep, chickens, ducks, peacocks. The people were very friendly and their helpful communication was great. We received useful information about the surroundings and things to do. Every day fresh bread was brought for breaks, eggs from the chickens, cheese and chorizo/salami, lots of fruit. The Sunday local market is recommended to visit, as well as the Quinta Santo da Serra next door. The view is wonderful, the location is very convenient at max 30min distance from places like Pico do Arieiro, Machico, Caniçal etc. In april the nights and mornings were a bit chilly, but the afternoons warm and sunny. The children didn't want to leave the animals, we would have loved to stay longer! The kitchen is functional but not brand new. At 600m altitude the house can become a bit humid, but several electric heatings are provided against that. Make sure you bring something against the small mosquitos.
- Michael (10/5): Our second time here. Thoroughly recommended. - The property is very rural with sheep, lambs, chickens, pig, horse and peacocks which are all very entertaining.
- Birgitte16 (9/5): Superb - Very spacious apartment in a beautiful location. Service was great: every day a delicious breakfast (fresh bread, eggs, toppings, fruit etc.). Joanna, thank you again; we had a wonderful stay. It was perfect!
- Marija (7/5): Good -
- Tomasz (10/5): Exceptional - Staying at this agro-tourist villa nestled in the mountains was an unforgettable experience for me and my kids. From the moment we arrived, Joana, our wonderful host, greeted us with warmth and kindness, making us feel immediately at home. Her genuine hospitality and dedication to ensuring we had a memorable stay went above and beyond our expectations.
The villa was a true mountain oasis—quiet, cozy, and perfectly situated amid Madeira’s lush, green landscape. Each morning, waking up to the fresh mountain air and stunning views, with the sun rising right over the hill in front of us, was a pure delight. The peaceful setting provided exactly the atmosphere we needed to relax and recharge. The kids absolutely adored the experience, and like me, fell completely in love with the island. We left with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for this beautiful corner of the world, largely thanks to Joana's exceptional hospitality. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking to experience the true magic of Madeira.
- Iris (8/5): Great stay - Great stay at the quinta. Nice and helpfunctie host. Breakfast with eggs from the dark. A basket full fruit. Its in the mountain area and the wheater was Cloudy and wet.
- Anouk (10/5): Felt instantly welcomed and at home - The hostess Joana welcomed us on our first day and gave us a lot of information about the island, where to eat and things to see (like music festivals and the sunday farmer‘s market). Whenever we had any questions about activities (for example about the hike from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo) we just texted her and she responded thoroughly and quickly. We felt welcome and well cared-for. The accomodation was homey and comfortable. The fridge and table were always stocked with all the breakfast ingredients we could‘ve needed (cheese, different cold cuts, milk, eggs, butter, marmalade, fruits and cereal). In the mornings fresh bread hung on our door. We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet here. In the evenings we could‘ve done with a bit more light and neighbours and peacocks could be heard in the night, both of which did not bother us too much. I‘m just writing this so the good things have some contrast to stand out against.
- Janette (10/5): Wonderful place in the countryside - Joana is a wonderful host and has given us a lot of recommendations. Nothing
- Sylvain (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christin (9/5): Superb - Super helpful and caring hosts, awesome location for families, quiet very comfy house, fresh breakfast supplies every day
- Vincent (9/5): Really nice place for a quiet stay - The location of the place is really nice. The fact that we get the ingredients for making our own breakfast is really cool and helped us keeping management of our time instead of having to wait for a specific time.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb - Great location, excellent space, lovely hosts, really useful information, fresh bread and provisions each day Some noisy building works nearby, although as we were out all day it didn’t bother us too much
- Will (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (9/5): Superb - Beautiful surroundings, lovely breakfast, comfy bed. Some building work around but didnt disturb us.
- Flynn (9/5): Superb - Beautiful property, responsive host
- Uliana (8/5): Very good -
- Zuraff (10/5): A great place to relax and chill out - Great and quiet location. Contact with Joana perfect. Mr. Jose in charge of the farm very kind. The house is spacious, with a complete kitchen and two bathrooms. A large terrace where you can enjoy tea or coffee in the morning and evening.
Animals at the farm (pony, goat, sheeps, cat, peacock) are very friendly. Ideal for families with children, but also adults will find here a break from the hustle and bustle of cities. A garden in season must look wonderful. In addition, there is a view of the golf course, where on weekends you can see people playing.
The surroundings are beautiful. A good place for trips to the eastern and central part of Madeira. There is also a place to go for closer walks. I recommend just going out and walking around the town, see what normal life looks like.
I recommend this place with great pleasure. Nothing. Even after thinking about it for a while, I can't say anything bad about this place.
- Nico (8/5): Very good - Lovely area with farm animals around. Fantastic host that was very welcoming. The room was decent, the breakfast rather simple but convenient.
- Adam (9/5): Great place with very helpful staff for an affordable price - Great and helpfull staff. Very good location - we did rent a car for the whole trip. Fresh bread every day - it is a self made breakfast. Musty smell in the room.
- Manon (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay was great, absolutely no regret choosing this place!
We appreciated the farm stay, the breakfast doing by our own with fresh eggs!
We truly thank Joana for her kindness, her availability before and during our stay, and last but not least, thanks for all the advice!
Manon and Baptiste.
- Ivan (8/5): Very good -
- Mirela (10/5): Exceptional - The house is excelent. We founded all what we needed, it is very well equiped! Very clean and a very tasty breakfast! We strongly recommand this location!
- Robert (10/5): We only had a short stay, but enjoyed every minute. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. - Beautiful location, Fresh bread, eggs and fruit every day. Enjoyed seeing all the animals every morning. Our host was very friendly and kept in touch with us via whatsapp. Will definitely come back soon. Nothing.
- Dovilė (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing, we feels like home❤️
- Oana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stefan (9/5): Lovely hosts in a nice and calm surrounding. - Very delightful hosts. They have been happy to adapt to our needs and have been very helpful. The apartments are big, clean and very calm. Small kitchen with everything you need. Perfectly located for road trips around the stunning island. I do have nothing to complain about.
- Raphael (10/5): Exceptional - Super nice host! Takes care of e everything.
- Eduard (8/5): Very good - Hospitality
- Markus (9/5): Superb - Silent and relaxed stay in nature at a small farm. Good location for walking in the Northeast of Madeira.
Rural village far away from mass tourism.
Very friendly host with tips for the surroundings. Breakfast a bit disappointing for a Bio farm.
Sausage and cheese from the Supermarket
Some of the furniture need to bei renewed at some time
- Piotr (10/5): I realy enjoyed my time at Joanas agriturismo :) Recommendation 10/10 -
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional - rural experience, the animals all around the house, the beautiful landscape, the nice spacious house and last but not least the hospitality of Joanna. nothing
- John (10/5): We would definitely be back - The location was as depicted. Serene and verdant mountain countryside. A quiet and tranquil venue. Very relaxing. Cottages/studios were very comfortable and cozy. Venue was within walking distance from locally owned restaurants, cafes, and small market. Very quaint. Locals were very friendly & receptive. The Sunday farmers' market is a must see and do
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zdeněk (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome surroundings
Daily fresh fruit and pastry
Spacious
Kind and helpful staff
- Femke (8/5): relaxing and in the middle of the nature - in the nature
- Yaroslav (8/5): Very good - Nice little farm house. a wonderful view of the mountains and a piece of Jurassic forest. the hosts are friendly. Convenient location for hiking. Near the bus stop. On Sunday, you should visit the local market. It was convenient to receive fresh bread from the hosts in the morning. Beautiful sheep, goats, peacocks, horses, ducks, chickens and rabbits are well cared for on the farm. the vastness of the dressing room for outerwear and shoes
- Bogdan (8/5): Breakfast îs not as you expect, from reviews. - The staff was great, very help full, they even surprise us with wine and cake, when they found out that it was my birthday, during The stay. We were disappointed about the breakfast. We chose the location based on the Booking.com reviews, where the breakfast was noted as "fabuloase" but it really wasn't like that at all. Indeed we received bread, în The morning, and there were eggs, but all the other were from The shop not from "Bio Quinta" as you would expect when you choose that instead of a hotel.
- Elena (10/5): Special thanks to Jose Manuel for teaching us how to make a fire properly. And thanks to Joana for helping me find an a - Everything was great. We rested in January in a big house. Since the house is located in the mountains, of course it was cooler outside than by the sea. The staff were very responsive and helpful. Every morning we had breakfast staples, which is definitely very convenient, especially with children. The house was big and clean. Towels were changed even more often than we expected. Nothing to complain about
- Kim (10/5): Lovely farm experience with spacious and clean rooms - - very peaceful location
- loved the animals (cats, peacocks, horses, sheep, rabbits)
- Joana was a suuuper friendly and accommodating host. She speaks perfect English and is more than happy to help with anything you need. She explained a lot about the Madeiran culture and she invited us to try freshly butchered pork and selfmade cider. Which was both very tasty.
- breakfast was great with fresh eggs, cheese, ham, bread and selfmade jam
- the kitchen was full equiped and we cooked dinner there twice
We absolutely loved our stay here! 10/10 recommeded :)
- Kristy (10/5): Great place in lovely location - Beautiful location. Very helpful staff. Fresh fruit amd from the farm brought daily as well as daily bread from the local bakery was a lovely touch. Lots of local knowledge and close to some great hikes Nothing not to like.
- Roman (9/5): Superb - Nice location, plenty of space Breakfast offering could be better
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Briony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ana (10/5): Amazing home feeling experience. - We prepared a barbecue dinner with José Manuel's help for our friends that were not staying in our hotel (because the hotel didn't have any more rooms available). José Manuel has been extremely welcoming even for our friends. We have created great memories at the hotel. Will definitely stay again when visiting Madeira.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -

- Tangorn72 (9/5): A very relaxing farm-stay. The great base to explore Madeira. Super friendly staff. - We had a wonderful stay, the service and hospitality was really amazing and the apartment was spacious and clean. The staff is super friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast was simpler then we expected. We thought everything would be local, coming from the farm but ham and cheese were from the supermarket.
