August (10/5): a little piece of paradise - Beautifully, well maintained property with full kitchen facilities, amazing pool, and beachfront access. The two fulltime caretakers are very welcoming and are available for any issues should any arise (none did). This was the perfect retreat, allowing for long Beach walks, sipping coffee in the mornings while listening to the gentle ocean waves, the sea birds, and the occasional knocking on shells by the local oyster divers. The villa is immaculately kept clean, fresh potable water kept topped up in our suite. The pool is quite large, shallow, one depth, so nice for families with children. Perfect temperature. Very clean. The ocean is swimmable, a few rocky parts to get out to the more sandy areas in the water. It stays shallow for quite a long ways out with some dips here and there of 8-10'. Calm ocean water so safe for children with adult supervision. There is one restaurant, the Faro grill, we ate at one night. Pretty good food and drinks. Pricey. For the most part, we made our own meals at the villa after grocery shopping in bucerias on our way into the villa. There isn't anything really close within walking distance once your there. Everything was perfect! If quiet, serene, relaxation is your goal...this is the place to be. Thank you to Mario and Yolanda for the warm welcome and stay. We loved everything.

Ken (9/5): The staff was very friendly and helpful and my stay was relaxing. - The location on the beach was wonderful with an exceptional view of the bay. The authentic Mexican style of the property was appealing and relaxing. The pool and patio areas were excellent to soak up some sun or just relax with a coffee or cold drink. The water taps in the bathroom shower and sink were difficult to adjust and the sink was slow to drain. The overhead ceiling fans need to be cleaned. The mattress on the bed was not very supportive and caused some mild back pain. The kitchen dishes and utensils could be of better quality and the stove in the shared kitchen did not heat efficiently.

Lori (10/5): - The facility is amazing. Quiet and great staff. Out of the way, but once you figure out you should use the Uber app and not try and tell the taxis where you are, it was great. Uber app has your location pinged so you don't have to try and explain where you are.

Nancy (10/5): Have recommended this property to everyone I know. What's not to like??! - If you want to treat yourself to utter beauty and tropical auras stay here. You will delight in THOUSANDS of art pieces tucked in every nook and cranny and even canvases in your room and hallways. This is in addition to a fully stocked kitchen (ie everything but food), comfy beds, colorful gathering spaces, intricate walkways, secure locked gates along the beach and roadway, and the bay only feet away. It is also possible to walk along the beach to La Cruz. From the property we saw 20+ bird species, as the grounds contain mature trees, unlike the nearby condos scouring the landscape. You DO have to lay in some meals or drive/taxi to the nearest town. But there is a full size refrigerator in the kitchen. The nearly developments make this spot a slice of heaven.
Richard (9/5): Absolute Paradise - The room with the view was well furnished. The pool was big enough to swim laps. The community kitchen was a big plus, complete with a full size fridge. There was a small fridge in the room. The maintenance man, Mario, was very responsive. Swimming in the ocean was nice. The gate to the ocean and the gate to drive in are padlocked and very difficult to operate. Too many different keys. A key for the ocean gate, a key for the drive in gate, and a key for the walk in gate, which you need to open to get to the padlock for the drive in gate. Very steep driveway.

WIFI is available, TV is not. Walking distance to the La Cruz Sunday market via the beach was a bonus. New high rise construction on both sides was a bit of a detriment. Had a nice stay overall.

Scott (10/5): - Jardin del Mar exceeded my expectations. The property is beautifully landscaped with both small and large patios in several areas. The room (Delphin) was clean, well maintained and equipped with all of the basic amenities needed for our stay. First and foremost was the view! The property is right on the beach. We watched whales, porpoises, sea turtles every day! The onsite kayaks were great for excursions out to get a closer look at the whales. The town area is about a 15 minute walk along the beach. There are a number of restaurants with a wide range of foods and prices. Don't miss La Cata in the fish market area or La Balina Blanca for their shrimp tacos! Be advised that at high tide, you may have to climb on the rocks for short intervals to keep your shoes dry. Don't ask how we know that. Mario and Yolanda seemed to appear out of nowhere whenever we had a question. Both were very helpful during our stay. In short, it is a beautiful property and I am making plans to return.

The beach has loads of shells, with kayaks for your use. Adding paddle boards and snorkel gear would be a wonderful up to date addition. Incredible art and antiques are found everywhere on the property. The safety level is great, we always felt very safe. The proximity to so many towns and beaches can’t be beat. Renting a car is very helpful. You will not regret choosing Villas Jardin!

The rooftop patio is where we started and ended each day. The property wasn’t within walking distance to any conveniences, but to no fault of their own. There was a lot of construction noise, but beautiful properties being built.

The pool is very clean and a great temperature and there are a lot of places to relax. You can tell the staff really cares about giving guests the best experience and there are a lot of small touches that didn’t go unnoticed! The only downfall is that the location isn’t within walking distance of much. It’s nice in some ways because it’s removed from the busy part of town, but you do have to rely on taxis or Ubers to get anywhere.
Patricia (10/5): Great stay at paradise! - The house is beautiful, the amenities are in perfect condition and everything is clean. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and the casitas have everything you need to make your stay pleasant. Mr. Mario and Mrs. Yolanda made us feel at home and are excellent landlords. The overall organization was exceptional from the beginning. Even though the beach is rocky, there are spaces to swim either on the one right in front or walk to the ones that are nearby. In short, it was the best choice for our vacation and we hope to return! It was not something negative but if darker curtains or blinds could be placed in the casitas it would be excellent since at dawn the light is quite strong and wakes you up.

Beautiful villa and gardens with artistic touches. Lovely view. It was challenging to get into town to eat if you don't have a car or scooter. There was no restaurants or food stores close by. We ordered breakfast one morning, but it was disappointing. Breakfast should be better quality.
Durvene (9/5): Relaxing get away for quiet couples. - The art work and peace and quiet were wonderful. I also liked the beach access and how friendly the staff is. We really enjoyed shopping at the fish market then coming back and using the outdoor grill to prepare it. The location was a bit isolated. I think I would have preferred a place a little closer to a town. Perhaps easier to walk to. During dusk there were bugs. Bring bug repellent if outdoors. With the spray we did not get bit.

Cheryl (10/5): We love the property and couple who care take the Villa. We will continue to return. - The lovely hotel is right on the beach. There is pool large enough to swim laps. The grounds are spectacular--put together by the original owner, an artist, who collected Mexican artifacts, tiles, and gorgeously designed the villa. Nothing the property can do, but too much construction is happening surrounding the once, off the grid, quiet space. As a result, construction noise, blaring music is sometimes intrusive. There can be smell of sewage at the east end of the lower floor and pool area near where water flows down to the beach.
Taylor (10/5): - Jardin Del Mar is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. Even for a short stay I feel restored and at peace after hearing the ocean every night. The grounds are extremely well maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This is my second stay and I look forward to my next!

Always willing to help. The only thing I personally didn’t like was the bed. I found the king bed was too hard for my liking.

Patricia (9/5): We loved it enough to re-book next year [despite the dis-likes mentioned]. - Staff [Yolanda & Mario] - extremely kind & helpful. Authentic Mexican atmosphere and the whole building was spotless. Pool was a good size and deck furniture comfortable and lovely. Many areas for public and/or private use as the space is quite large. Beach in front is quiet and it is a short walking distance to a 5 star hotel for wining and dining. We enjoyed watching the oyster divers each morning while we sipped our coffee on the roof top. Beds not comfortable and balcony in Casa Santiago is tiny & sort of useless. The area directly in front of our entrance is dedicated to the space next door - Casa Isabella. When the occupants in that room were both smoking at their patio table - it filtered directly into our room plus we could hear their conversations. It would make more sense to assign that balcony space to Casa Santiago as there is still an abundance of balcony space directly in front of Casa Isabella.

Kathy (9/5): It was a lovely stay. We'd love to return. - The location was nice. Slightly out of the way, yet a close walk (a bit over a mile) along the beach to la Cruz. A close taxi ride to Bucerios. Sayulita was about 20 miles away so not far as well. I loved that our casita had so many openings to the outside covered by screens. The air flow at night was so lovely as was the view out our window waking up. There are only 7 rooms on the grounds with lots of opportunities to meet others staying there, but also lots of beautiful nooks and crannies to find and hang out in. The pool is lovely and access to the beach is right out in front. Lovely views. In our casita I didn't care for the shower right by the toilet. Our floor in the bathroom became very wet after a shower.

It is a bit of a walk to get to a store and a cab would be in order for a grocery shop. The rooms are GORGEOUS. The artwork is MAGNIFICENT. The grounds and pool are a dream!! Outdoor kitchens are fully stocked with kitchenware, fridge, stove, microwave and toaster. Lovely seating areas throughout. Gardens are gorgeous. Ocean right at your doorstep. Perfection!! The shower in my room (Casa Isabella) was a bit on the temperamental side.

It was good to have a separate closet/room to keep the clutter in the main area down. I would have loved to have a screen door on the balcony so that it would be possible to have the door open all night. I was in Santiago room.

Nikki (8/5): Ideal place to just sit in the beauty of Mexico & read, walk, swim & enjoy it all in peace. - The Villa is everything the reviewers tell you and more. It is a little slice of heaven set away from the glitzy all-inclusives. The place is spotless & every nook & cranny has been thought out. The entire property is yours - take advantage of it especially the outdoor kitchen & 3rd level patio. The Delfin suite was so amazing - massive including living area. Kayaks for use, on-site staff and managers available on What's App. We took advantage of the pre-order groceries which is a game-changer. Had cold beer, guac & chips for our arrival & were able to ease into the vacay by making our own breaky. Easy walk on the beach to La Cruz (Sunday Market is a must) and a decent walk (1hr to Bucerias) Buses are plentiful and easy to get to if you just walk up the road 900m to the roadway. The other guests are all quiet and respectful and you barely run into one-another. There are kayaks to use and the beach is 3 steps away. The pool is perfect and so clean. There is a giant wardrobe near the entrance that has giant, fluffy beach towels, bug spray, medications ie: Pepto Bismal, tampons and bandaids... so helpful. We arrived on a National holiday and were in Los Santos hut with no windows, just screens. The rental house next door partied for two nights in a row & it felt like they were in our bedroom. It was LOUD. Then the all-inclusive in the next bay liked to have live bands on the grounds so we got it from both directions. We asked to be moved and were quickly accommodated to the Delfin. We truly loved our little hut but there was no sleeping under those circumstances. No fault of the Villa.

Jana (10/5): Exceptional - Great Villa, has 9 rooms and is big enough you feel like you are the only person there. Villa has a history to it and was designed by the original owner that recently passed away. It's a treat to spend days around the pool and using the facilities. Occasionally, iguana comes for a swim as well. You can borrow kayaks and head for the ocean. The water is very calm on this side of the bay. Communication with staff via email was great. 50 minutes walk to Bucerias .25 minutes the other way to marina and few restaurants and basic small grocery store. The shower was temperamental.

Thoughtfully designed property with an interesting history. Plenty of beautiful common areas. Lots of convenient wall plugs, fans and lights. Great communication with staff! Stayed in Casa Delfín. Bed was a little hard - but that's just us.
Mark (8/5): - Beautiful place and very relaxing but unless you have a car it is hard to get around. Can get a taxi or beach walk 20-25 mins to La Cruz but only while tide out. I am a runner and nowhere to run as only 1k to busy highway. Disappointed nobody ever there to greet us - only by chat.
Sharyn (10/5): It was perfect!! - The property is a small paradise with unique Mexican decor. it was great to have the opportunity to meet people from all over . Lovely clean grounds and pool to cool off after a warm day . Its a great place to relax and enjoy the sound of the waves. We saw some whales from the balcony, and there were iguanas and various birds to entertain us! Loved every minute of our stay! It is a trade off of being somewhat “away from it all” and having to take a taxi to La Cruz Village or Bucerias. Depending on the tide it is accessible to walk the beach. We didn’t mind taking a taxi or walking.

Attractively and colorfully decorated rooms. Good beds. Basic kitchen, ample to prepare simple meals. Garden and grounds well maintained. Close to town of Cruz, a sweet, still fairly serene town. Terrific fish market, Sunday market. Exterior lighting on stairs to upstairs units needs improvement.

Marriott (4/5): Disappointing - Not proactively being informed about the breakwater construction, and having to complain and advocate for peace on my vacation - two full weeks of respite is what we were seeking and that could not be accomplished here. While not the fault of the owners, it is there responsibility to inform guests of construction. We would have declined this wonderful property during this time had we known. They could have done more to address the situation rather than having us endure the loud and persistent, and unending sound of the excavator moving large rocks - 12 hours per day for 10 days without a break, even Sunday.

De (8/5): The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the location is great. The staff that works on the property are amazing and ver - The grounds were beautiful. Staff At The Property Was Excellent, but keep in mind they only come every two days. We had a total of 11 hours travel time that includes time difference and we had to sit outside the gate of the property for an hour waiting for someone to show up to let us in. As soon as we landed and got to the car rental, I started calling the villas property management with zero response that was at 5:40. Prior to our arrival the property asked what time we would be arriving since there is no staff on the premises only during schedule days. I informed them we would be there between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. We arrived at the property at 6:35 and had to sit outside the gate, waiting for someone to answer finally at 7 o’clock management answered and at 7:30. staff showed up to let us in. Tired and hungry, it’s Not a way you want to start your vacation. The furniture is very uncomfortable specially in the kitchen and in the room however, the beds are comfortable. The pool is cold, colder than the ocean. The property sits on the ocean but it’s not a sandy beach. Very rocky. you need to make sure you have everything you need since staff only comes every couple of days. We had ran out of water and toilet paper. Tried to notify management, but with no response, staff showed up two days later on their scheduled day and hooked us up.

Camellia (10/5): - Beautiful and peaceful stay at Jardin Del Mar! It was so beautifully decorated and tranquil. We were completely immersed by nature with the beautiful gardens, birds, iguanas and ocean. One morning we even saw whales jumping. The sunrises are gorgeous and you can see the turtles swimming and the pelicans catching fish. Walking to La Cruz and Bucerias was along a beach with lots of rocks so make sure you bring good shoes. We clod to walk and are active but we found the walks a bit difficult and only did them a couple times each. Make sure you have an Uber account or the phone number for the local taxis if you want to get into La Cruz or Bucerias at night. We were able to buy lots of fresh fruit at the fruterias in La Cruz so we were set for breakfast daily. The hosts provided coffee as well as basic kitchen supplies. We made our own margaritas daily too! We had great service by Michelle, Mario and Yolanda. We were greeted upon arrival with guacamole and chips. They also made us a delicious chilaquilies breakfast one morning. Muchas gracias! This place is beautiful and magical!
John (8/5): Beautiful architecture and interiour design. - They come in and clean the suite 2 or 3 times a week. We added 2 weeks, and stayed a full month because we like it so much compared to others.
Douglas (8/5): Wonderful accommodations, but need new mattresses - Beautiful grounds and room. Friendly, courteous staff willing to go out of their way to help. My only recommendation is that they buy new mattresses. We stayed in a room with two queen beds, and the mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable.

From the moment we passed under the pink arch, we fell in love with the magic of Jardin del Mar and our welcoming and attentive hosts, Tomas & Eric. Our casa and shared spaces provided everything we needed for a week in paradise, and we felt like we had returned home after a day exploring La Cruz, Bucerias, PV or dinner at one of the many great area restaurants. Don’t skip the available daily gourmet healthy breakfast option, the perfect way to start your day and connect. Every breakfast, from pesto eggs to my custom blueberry pancake, was thoughtfully planned, prepared fresh and served with joy. The grounds are wonderfully maintained, and you’ll be surrounded with natural beauty and art, stonework and mosaics, flowers, herons, egrets, with stunning views of ocean sunrises and sunsets and iguanas sunning themselves in neighboring palm trees. To add to our experience, the magical atmosphere fostered strong bonds with our hosts and fellow guests from Canada and the U.S., and we shared a glorious New Year’s Eve dinner and celebration together on the top deck overlooking the beach, capped off with a stellar view of PV fireworks at midnight. What a way to start 2020, in the company of such peace, love and beauty and new lifelong friendships. In one exceptional week we became a family. Thank you, Tomas & Eric, for everything. From the most wonderful hosts, to the welcome guacamole, the incredible artwork, the nooks and crannies to explore, the well appointed kitchens (with QUALITY silverware), the one of a kind suites, the comfortable beds, the quality fragrant shower products and the INCREDIBLE views from throughout the property.
