Guest Reviews
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Wing na (4/5): - Not clean
- Magnusson (10/5): I was really impressed with how accommodating and responsive the team is. They really went above and beyond to ensure I - The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, especially the bed! Great location, close to the main attractions for walking, but away from away the super loud bars - was quiet and peaceful.
- Charles (9/5): A great location for a great price. - The host was fantastic. He helped with any and everything we needed from an airport transfer to explaining everything about the area. If we had any questions, he was available to answer them. There is a shared living room and kitchen, but we had it all to ourselves since there wasn’t anyone staying in the other bedroom. The bed was a little hard for my liking.
- Katherine (8/5): Calm environment, beautiful building and great location - Great location, close to the main street but without all the noise there alway is. The apartment have a nice and classic style and a small balcony. I thought it was a hotel but it was really a shared apartment. I'm not really sure if I didn't read the description well or if I wasn't told about it.
- Jacob (8/5): Nice place in a decent location. - I liked the ease of access and the location. The host was very conscientious about making sure he would be there to meet us when we arrived. He also had recommendations and addressed issues we had right away. I don't know if it specifies anywhere that the "hotel" is really one common room (living room, kitchen) shared between two groups of visitors and two separate bedroom/bathrooms. Not a huge deal, but would have been helpful to know.
Also, the light on the AC is impossible to turn off and it made it hard for us to sleep at night with the AC on.
- Ana (10/5): Amaizing accomodation - Location is amaizing, very close to the main street and beaches, comfy bed and great hospitality, I would come here again
- Marcin (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice host. Great location. Clean. Spacy apartment. I wish we could have more time there
- Ioana (8/5): Great vibes in Playa del Carmen. - The location is very good and we enjoyed the free parking. The owner came by and gave us tons of recommendations for out trip; we had a great conversation. The property offered also extra pool towels which we found useful. The flat has a good vibe, you can easily make friends with other guests. The complex is very nice, the pool was clean and the flat was cute decorated. We also had a fridge in the room that came in handy and the flat itself has a fully equipped kitchen and living room with dining table. Also the check in went really smooth regarding communication and considering that was very late when we arrived. The property itself is a bit out of date. Not everything works. As an example the hot water did not work for us in the first day and the owner had to be there to restart the boiler which is behind a locked door in the apartment. Also we were not happy about the payment method. Maybe is a thing in the area but we were calculated the price in dollars and changed to MXN on the day's rate. Then 3% on top because we paid with card. It was probably written somewhere in the booking reservation but we missed it and it did not feel right upon arrival.
- Hannah (6/5): The swimming pool was lovely. The living room area was good. The bed was large and very comfy. Hairdryer and fridge were - The swimming pool was lovely. The living room area was good. The bed was large and very comfy. Hairdryer and fridge were useful. The location was excellent. Our airport to hotel taxi was organised efficiently with good communication. Woken up both night by loud noise in the living room area/outside.
- Diego (10/5): Exceptional - Pretty comfortable, really well located close to the 5th avenue but without the noise of the clubs.
- Mircea (5/5): Passable -
- Jana (9/5): Superb - Close to 5th Avenue a beach, Giuliano and Diego are really nice and helpful.
- Hadassah (8/5): Lovely! - Amazing location, Diego was a lovely host and very helpful. Had all you need It would get very stuffy and hot in the communal room as there didn’t seem to be AC, we managed to get our AC to work in our room eventually but would take some time
- Anna (8/5): Clean and comfy - In the center yet relatively quiet at night.
Short walk to the beach.
Comfy bed/mattress.
Good wifi.
Fast communication by the host. They used USD rate 18 pesos when converting the price to MEX which is higher than normally (16 pesos) so I actually ended up paying more (even in Euros) than was the initial booking price.. Kitchen utensil many were sticky so you had to wash them before using. Cooking oil in the kitchen would have been a nice plus. Toilet didn't wash properly, had to wash 3-4 times before everything went down. Pillows were too big/hard for my taste. Pool wasnt particularly clean/inviting.
- Mar (8/5): All was nice and good -
- Roberta (9/5): Superb - Very central, nice and big apartment.
- Ana (7/5): Could have been my best experience! - I love the location, it was so convenient close to good restaurants, stores, farmacies, and of course the beautiful beach! The apartments, has a majestic swimming pool! The appearance of the apartment was good that's it! Well, to begin with! I requested it to be on the first floor, I wad given the third floor. I have a Doble knee implant! I also have lower back surgery. Shoulders problems, Gulliano told me I was not requested it and it might be booking fault not describing properly it!! But believed me when you are mess-up like me, you don't miss things like being the 3 floor instead of the first-one! Secondly The apartment share the kitchen and living room! It was suggested I have it on my own!
- Esteban (10/5): - It was an amazing experience! The people there were super friendly and cozy
- Castillo (8/5): Very good -
- Andres (10/5): Great value for a family of six... - Lots of restaurants within walking distance...
Perfect for a family of six...
Great value... No AC in the living room (only in the bedrooms)...
- Darren (6/5): - Check was alright. Hard to find the entrance. Everything was locked up. Shared an apartment with another family...:/
- Andreas (5/5): Passable - The location Dirty sheets, dirty forks and knives, ants in the sugar vase
- Ghistos (9/5): Perfect.place to meet other travelers - I really enjoyed the place. I was there for 3 weeks.
The kitchen is a share place. My room had a private balcony, clim and tv. It was perfect.
The people who work here are very kind and helpful. A big mention for the girl who make the room everytime I asked for.
I met a lot of travelers who shared the space with me. Wifi not working around the pool.
- Carmela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annette (9/5): Superb - Amazing place! The apartment is very pretty and has all the facilities one might need.
It's a 5 minute walk to 5th street (where the party is at) and it has an amazing pool surrounded by so much green.
Michael was also an amazing host and responded very fast (i changed our check in time about 3 times) and was very flexible. Only thing is that the AC was a little outdated, but replacing an AC is very expensive so..
People should book Playa Alegria more 😊
- Konstantina (7/5): Good - The host was very kind and helpful and the place is very central and secure! The pool was also very nice. There is also parking space available. While booking we thought it was a hotel room but apparently it's more like an Airbnb (our fault actually).
The towels and bedsheets are very old and need a replacement. Utilities are in general not very new. Cleaning service was every 2-3 days (irregular).
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jesus (7/5): Good -
- Riccardo (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, comfortable and lovely staff. Difficult to find it, there’s no signs and you have to call or text. Electricity was gone for the whole day so we had no air conditioning, water, etc.
- Żanetamojsak (7/5): Good -
- Khrystyna (8/5): Very good -
- Devon (3/5): we stayed 3 out of the 7 we had paid for and left for more pleasant accommodations - convenient location street noise …. needed earplugs to sleep
shower moldy… bleach the grout???
no 24 hour desk
shared living room always hot… AC ???
run down … needs updating
- Tammy (8/5): Playa vacation - Great location to the central area of Playa
- Gringojeff (7/5): You can not beat these prices but the facilities are in need of some attention. - First and foremost, the price of our room was exceptional given the features of our shared apartment. We liked the size of our room, the quality of our king-size bed, the abundance of storage space for clothes and suitcases, the large walk-in shower, the good air conditioning and ceiling fan. The housekeeping was excellent. Our towels & sheets were replaced every 3 days. In both the kitchen and bathroom, the faucets need attention. It was impossible to stop the faucets from running. The counter-top tiles in the kitchen badly need re-grouting, The spaces between the tiles are filled with old breadcrumbs, food particles, etc,.
- Yhestryll (8/5): Very good -
- Teresa (9/5): Superb - Very clean. The host speaks very good English and was really helpful. Good location. Well equiped kitchen. There is no name on the building and few of them look the same so we had trouble finding it.
- Jeannine (8/5): Very good -
- Shinetop (8/5): Very good - N/A There was not blanket for the bed. This was our only flaw. All else was perfect
- Jako_84 (9/5): Nice apartment right in the center - Large double room with air conditioning and private bathroom. You share a fully equipped kitchen and living room with another double room. At the living room is a small balcony. Our room had its own balcony. WiFi was great. Restaurants, shops and supermarket around the corner. Not far to the beach. free parking in front of the house. The apartment is in a residential complex with a communal pool. We didn't use the poll. We were very happy with the accommodation. The address on Booking.com is not quite correct. Here are the correct coordinates: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Fp6GKMGsEy4yTeUe6 Bathroom a bit worn. Sometimes a little loud in the evening through the street, we didn't sleep with the window open.
- Jako_84 (9/5): Ideal for four people. - Very well located, restaurants, shops and supermarket just around the corner. Accommodation in a block of flats. We had two double bed rooms, a living room with a fully equipped kitchen and a small balcony. We didn't use the poll. The accommodation is ideal for 4 people. Air conditioning and good wifi. We felt safe and comfortable. The rooms are already a bit worn. You can see it especially in the bathroom.
- Dean (7/5): Good -
- Mathilde (9/5): Great! - Great location, only few blocks from the beach. Appartment is clean, confortable and safe.
The kitchen is very useful and has all you may need.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central, nice rooftop, but not much else - The room and bathroom was a bit meh, as was the crammed common area on the first floor, but it was cheap and central and was fine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is very well located and nice spacious rooms. The manager was very responsive and quickly fixed minor problems I had with the bulb etc.
I only wish that it was told in clear terms that the living area etc is a 'common/shared' area with the other room occupant. That would have affected my decision to rent or not. However, overall great location and spacious rooms.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is not what it says on Expedia. It’s an apartment that rents 2 rooms and all common areas are shared. The free parking can only be used by one guest, if it’s occupied you’ll have to pay street parking. The manager was not wearing a mask and
- Lee (10/5): Great communication - Excellent communication from the Hotel
- John (10/5): - Check in was easier than expected. The
- Claudia (8/5): - We only stayed for a night I was hesitant at first I didn’t realize it was a hostel but after meeting with the owner I felt more at ease very clean and I felt safe
- Lucia (10/5): - Had a great stay and owner was very helpful and supportive, very prompt communication! happy to recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
thank you!
- James (10/5): Classic Hotel - The place was very nice. I really liked the decor.
- Terry (2/5): - It's a fraud ... There is no hotel ,rooms, signage. Contact person or any other aminities expected with renting a room........ From what I understand from other people that own condo units here this is and individual renting out her Condo. I was told to wait out in the street and someone would come and let me in. That never happened..... I waisted over an hour trying to resolve this and it never happened. I blame Expedia for lack of control over their listings
- Deb (10/5): - Lovely quiet character apartments and friendly hosts. So close to many amenities. Would definitely stay again :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a very nice apartment. The pool is significantly more beautiful than the image shows. The apartment has two balconies, a large dining table and two bathrooms. I think it is an ideal family spot if you want to escape the all inclusive vacation/ touristy places. (I also think it is cheaper!) There is a Mega right around the corner (similar to Walmart) and you can purchase food cheaply there. The property owners greet the guests and say goodbye to the guests in the end, they text if need is required otherwise they are hands off. Every other day someone comes to clean and take out the trash and to provide new towels. I really loved this place. There were 6 of us. I think, unless it is a family with little kids, the place would be better suited for 4-5 people, though. The location is great. 7 min walk to the beach, 2 mins to the main shopping street, yet the option to go to the more authentic places.I went to church for Easter and visited the Mexican market a lot to eat more of the local and cheap food. The beach is nice, but certainly not as beautiful as Isla Mujeres. I will definitely return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All Good, My flight was delayed quite late but they still met me at the apartment after regular hours
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Unique was it being an apartment while advertised as a hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place, not a hotel - Stayed at Maya Vacanze Playa Alegria for a quick trip to Playa del Carmen. Everything about the place (location, bed, bathroom, Wi-Fi, cleanliness, pool available for guests) is fantastic. Also the price was great.
This is not a hotel but rather is an apartment vacation rental within a larger building that holds other condos/offices, and you will NOT see any signs for Maya Vacanze Playa Alegria from the street. This is all fine, but our complaint was that this was not clearly communicated, and so when we arrived early to drop off our bags until we were allowed to check in, we didn't know that we needed to call someone and that there wouldn't be a front desk. This resulted in about an hour of confusion with all of our bags on our backs. For future renters, to avoid being stuck on the street not knowing where to go, call the company about 30 minutes before you arrive to the building to make sure someone meets you to check you in.
But to be clear, once checked in, the place is amazing and I fully recommend it.
- Laurie (10/5): Lovely room and condo in a great location - What a lovely gem in Playa del Carmen! I booked the room and didn't even realize until I got there that I have always loved the look of this building - it's so beautiful and colorful and has tons of balconies. We booked one of the two available rooms, the one without the balcony. But the views from the many windows were great. There is currently construction going on next door and across the street, but it didn't bother us at all once we closed our door. Gave us something interesting to watch! The wifi works great, air conditioning also. Water pressure is pretty low, but that is fairly common. It was a luxury to have a king bed which we enjoyed, very comfy. The only addition in the kitchen which would have been nice would be a microwave. But we heated up our croissants in the morning in the oven, so no big deal. The host was wonderful, helpful, and available if we needed anything, which we didn't. Love the location, too. Will stay on our list of fun places to stay in town.
