Guest Reviews
- Leslie (7/5): - Breakfast was lovely For the price, the mirror was cracked in bedroom. My daughter who was staying with friend wasn’t feeling well one night and wanted to stay with me; the pull out sofa was broken so she slept on a loveseat then left the next morning and skipped breakfast; not sure that was worth 75 pounds they charged me.
- Skye (10/5): - Lovely staff, room was very clean. Enjoyed my stay Gaps between the door and glass to the sauna so wasn’t actually very hot, Cold draft kept coming through.
- Enrique (10/5): - It was great.
- Rusty (8/5): Great location, tasty breakfast and cozy room. - The location was very convenient. Breakfast was included and it was one of the best I have had on this trip. Our room was very cozy. We had an issue with the heater but more in that later. The room was 80 degrees when we entered it. We could not turn the thermostat down. We checked with the front desk multiple times and she said to open the window. Once we looked at the heater, there was a dial to turn it down and off. By the time we woke up, the room was 72 degrees. We did sleep with the window open with the fan nearby. Management should educate their front desk staff so they understand all the rooms. Nevertheless, the accommodations were very nice,
The breakfast very good and the location perfect.
- Charles Alan (10/5): - Large comfortable modern rooms, great location, great breakfast.
- Robert (8/5): -
- yakubu (9/5): -
- Sammy (9/5): - There's nothing that we didn't like The last opening time for sauna and Jacuzzi
- Kevin (8/5): Nice hotel in a great location but the quality of the food needs to be improved - Room was great.
Very spacious and comfortable. The food served at lunch and breakfast was averaged at best.
The price played was not reflected in the quality.
- Ana Paula (10/5): -
- Patrick (9/5): -
- Edward (5/5): - Spa we where told at 9 o'clock on the Sunday the bar was closed and we had to go to the bar next door
- Dawn (5/5): - Location Annex rooms across the street. Dingy entrance, tired paintwork. More like an average Airbnb property.
Breakfast room similar to a premier Inn ( but not as spacious). Breakfast was awful. Nothing cooked to order, just congealed food lifted from trays and served cold. Inedible
- Rita (6/5): - Spacious, nice room, good location, receptionist lady taking care of everything: breakfast, reception, cleaning the lobby - and yet she tried her best to make our stay great and remained very friendly. This is not a 5-star hotel. We booked it for the spa facilities but could not use it as someone booked treatments for that afternoon and it was therefore blocked, and you'd need to pay extra to be able to access it. Breakfast was below average compared to all the other B&Bs we stayed at in Scotland.
Cleanliness of the room was not spotless (there was a used towel left in our room and only a little bit of toilet paper left).
- Michael (10/5): Great hotel and staff great - Location, room and the staff were fantastic before and during our stay The breakfast could have been much better
- Morris (10/5): -
- graham (4/5): - Very comfortable room, although in the annex The facilities were ok but not offered as a 4star spa hotel should be
- Katherine (8/5): -
- Kirsty (4/5): Comfortable but definitely not 5 star standard - Friendly staff
Comfortable bed
Good sized en-suite
Central location Not 5 star standard
Marks on carpet in room
No brown bread at breakfast, only white
Machine for tea/coffee at breakfast
Spa closed at 5 and no pool
Seems understaffed
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Kirsty (6/5): Lovely, but could have been more relaxing and feel all facilities should be included in price. - The room was nice and spacious and clean. The room was very hot, it’s central but therefore noisy. You cannot use the spa facilities unless you book a treatment or pay £25 per person for an hour and it’s only a steam room and sauna, seems excessive and should be included in room rate.
- Alex (10/5): Great hotel in central St Andrews - Great customer service, room was clean, well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the location is fabulous for all things to see in St Andrews
- Łukasz (9/5): Good sport in St Andrews! - A very pleasant hotel with a delicious breakfast. Centrally located with all amenities.
- Guest (5/5): -
- SandraB (8/5): Very good location and a lovely room. - Very good central location. Lovely room. Friendly staff. Continental Breakfast very limited. Cooked breakfast OK. Parking difficult on arrival, but OK later.
Restaurant not open as initially indicated.
- Allison (8/5): -
- Ewan (10/5): Super stay - Great hotel, staff super friendly, room was fantastic for a junior suite, it was much larger than I had expected, fantastic value for a hotel in St Andrews Nothing
- Krishna (9/5): -
- Rita (9/5): Very comfortable and convenient - Our room was very nice and very. Lean. Staff was very friendly fly. Location great.
- Erica (9/5): -
- Helen (3/5): Snarare 3-stjärnigt, svag price-performance - Bra sängar o bra läge Behöver rörmokare, träna personalen i serviceattityd, pulverkaffe till frukost och att släpa väskor o golfbagar i trappor (ingen hiss)
- Julie (10/5): -
- Suzanne (9/5): Great stay in a lovely hotel very central to St Andrews. - Klaudia at reception was very professional, helpful and just very nice!
- Chloe (10/5): -
- Claire (8/5): - Warm & welcoming. Great location. & easy and n street parking. Only having hot water from a coffee machine. Impossible to get a decent brew when coffee from the previous person drips in!
- pauline (8/5): ideal location to visit uni and enjoy St. Andrews! - location nothing
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Matthew (5/5): - Location Water pressure , no bar , no access to the spa
- David (6/5): Over priced for what is a 3-4 star hotel - Central location and nice staff, very helpful and courteous. Absolutely sweltering room with no air conditioning, I fear for anyone staying in height of summer. Breakfast was average, continental mediocre and my scrambled eggs were over done.
- Agnes (7/5): My stau - Hotel staff
Location Room
Too hot at night could open window
But kitchen flume was right next to window so was a bit noisey
Breakfast have to say not good
French toast was thickeness of an envelope
And came raw
Next day continental breakfast
Was packets of cereal boxes
Even porrage came in tub were peel back and add water
- James (1/5): A birthday present that did not go to plan. - Hotel is well situated to all amenities in St Andrews.
A short bus ride from Leuchars train station and a short walk from St Andrews bus station to the hotel.
Checked in on line prior to our arrival.
Arrived early, receptionist was very helpful, room not ready but it would be by approximately 3pm. we were able to drop off our luggage at reception before walking around St Andrews.
Our luggage had been taken to our room. Unfortunately we only stayed there approximately 1 & 1/2 hours. On our return to check-in we were taken to the annex across the busy main road, accessed by use of your key card. Our room was "Scotscraig" on the top floor. First impressions of the room, it looked nice but very height restrictive, as the room was in the loft space.
At closer inspection the room, in my opinion was not up to the expectations of a 5* hotel. The towels in the bathroom were not soft and one of the hand towels had a hole in it. There were marks on 2 of the 4 pillow cases and found hairs in the bed! The Mattress had seen better days, you could see where it was sunk from previous usage. There were hairs on the window sill next to the mirror in the window. There were marks on the walls possibly from hot drinks? One of the wardrobe doors would not close properly leaving the internal light on constantly (there was a switch to turn it on /off inside the wardrobe). The room in my opinion had not been cleaned or inspected properly before we arrived. The Bathroom door had to be pushed/pulled hard to close/open. The bathroom door did not open fully into the bathroom and banged on the wash basin due to the restricted space.
I returned to reception (the receptionist wasn't the same person who we had seen earlier) and requested to be moved to a clean room as I explained why the room was not acceptable. The receptionist did apologise and I was informed there were no other rooms available and would give a full refund. Before I accepted the refund I had to find replacement accommodation, which I did.
I felt there was very little customer service received on this occasion. I would have thought there should have been more done to keep my business by trying to correct things as best as they could, rather than doing nothing except refunding payment? This, in my opinion, is not 5* customer service.
- Christine (7/5): -
- Murray (10/5): Nice hotel, no spa access unless more money spent - Excellent location
Lovely touches for anniversary
Breakfast No access to spa area unless booking a treatment. For the amount of money paid for the hotel I was disappointed that the facilities couldn't be enjoyed
- Stephanie (5/5): Disappointed in a supposed 5* establishment - Location was perfect, breakfast was good The room was most definitely way over priced, dated, tired and needing attention, window latch was broken so window open all night and could hear the traffic, mould on the bathroom tiles and cobwebs which is easily rectified, not what you would expect for a supposed 5* establishment!
- andrew (5/5): Very poor value for money, with poor housekeeping and maintainance - This was a well located property and a spacious suite. Comfortable super long sized bed The tv remote didn’t work in the bedroom. The coffee machine sometimes worked, mostly didn’t. The bathroom door wouldn’t close and needed urgent attention - once forced shut, it was a real risk then that of not being able to get back out. The bathroom radiator was very dusty and dirty.
Breakfast was poor. Only one overrun member of staff trying to manage reception and the restaurant by herself and from what I could see, just one member of staff in the kitchen. Twenty minutes before the end of the breakfast service, there was almost nothing left of the continental option. The coffee was a machine option with paper cups. This was absolutely not a luxury breakfast experience & really terribly disappointing. We fed this all back to reception for the management and a week later, we’ve heard nothing.
- Neil (7/5): great place Great stay Great staff Gorgeous rooms - great location and lovely helpful staff Didn’t like the cooked breakfast
Asked for well done sausages and they were barely done and awful
Breakfast super oily
Not a biggie but a heads up in case you don’t like a super oily cooked breakfast
- Noelle (8/5): Good town centre hotel - Accommodation Lack of car parking
- Drysdale (10/5): - Location , boutique hotel Some signs of wear and tear, roman blind broken and scratches on walls.
- Erin (8/5): Comfortable, elegant property, with thoughtful details. - The location is phenomenal, and my room, Old Course, was truly lovely. Spacious, comfortable and a well designed bathroom. Overnight street noise.
- K Brakke (9/5): Great Hotel! - Nice spacious room, loved the bathtub. Very comfortable bed! Corner room, lots of natural light. The curtain in the bathroom didn't work, so it was really dark in there. Very minor and not really an issue, but since the glass was frosted - it would have been nice to have some natural light in there since the frosted glass would have provided privacy. We didn't report this issue because it was very minor. There was also some noise from it being an older building. We were also right above the restaurant so could hear their music, and we were under another room so could hear them moving around. Again - didn't report any of this as there was nothing that could be done. Restaurant noise was quiet at an early time, and we turned white noise on to try to drown out noise from walking above.
- Jones (9/5): Good comfortable hotel friendly staff and good food - Good No car park even though there was a car park beside the hotel it took ages to get a space
- Leanne (9/5): Lovely hotel, would stay again. - Perfect location. Staff were great. We stayed in the junior suite and the room was so lovely and a great size. Was my boyfriends birthday so the little touch of leaving a card in the room for him was nice too. Nothing really. The fan was very loud and the shower plug was blocked with hair - but very minor things.
- Jeaneen (10/5): -
- Jones (8/5): Good visit - All good The hotel doesn't have a car park and although there's a free car park very close it was difficult and frustrating trying to get a space
- Laura (10/5): Excellent location in a beautiful town. - We arrived as guests and left as friends. Stephanie on Reception was incredibly helpful. Chef provided super breakfasts with an excellent range of choices. Monica gave us a top class afternoon in the Spa.
- Elaine (9/5): -
- Lauren (7/5): -
- Emma (5/5): -
- Abby (3/5): Disappointing stay due to dirty room. - Good central location and relaxing spa. Our room was dirty upon inspection, a lot of dust and dirt apparent on most surfaces and unclean bathroom. We did complain to staff, but nothing was done other than they said they’d mention it to housekeeping upon our departure. An expensive room given it wasn’t the cleanest and could do with a bit of a refresh. The room was extremely noisy too despite making sure all of the windows were closed, but woken up a lot overnight with road and pedestrian noise outside so not very well rested.
- Amy (6/5): -
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Blair (9/5): -
- Leah (9/5): -
- LeighAnne (8/5): Perfect location for a stay in St Andrews - The location is excellent There was a slight smell in the bathroom & the quality of the towels were poor (one was torn). This was a shame as the bathroom itself was beautiful
- Tuton (10/5): Peaceful, comfortable and enjoyable. Would recommend - Good central location with a beautiful room. Friendly helpful staff. N/A
- Phil (10/5): Great location, lovely room very friendly staff! - Room was fantastic! Very spacious.
- Harry (7/5): Great hotel, could have been better with spa access which is what it’s advertised as - Great location, cosy and warm rooms To be a spa hotel you need to allow guest access to the spa, no matter how much fine print you add to the description
- Mhairi (8/5): Fab spa and staff - The jacuzzi and massages were great. Lovely bathroom with good shower. Fridge in room is always a bonus. Rattly window (fixed that with cardboard myself), coffee machine was terrible for making tea, had to push the water button about 20 times to fill the cup. A kettle would have been better.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Alexander (9/5): -
- DIANE (6/5): Too much money to charge for bad , old mattresses - location and bathrooms were perfect the Beds! Highly uncomfortable! Hotel added a down mattress pad to hide the extremely uncomfortable twin beds pushed together to make a king bed. Mattress too old that we felt like we were sliding off the sides. we had 3 rooms total for our family and all were unsleepable. Our adult sons put mattress on floor which made it slightly better. For the high prices of the rooms, they should invest in better mattresses, however the linen bedding was lovely. Shame it was on the worst mattresses of our trip
- Anish Madan (10/5): Fabulous - Excellent property, location is great. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Service and breakfast was excellent.
- Kim (7/5): Too short - Very clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and location was great. Would have liked to stay longer
- Angus (9/5): -
- Anne (10/5): -
- Trina (7/5): Very good location, clean and friendly staff - The hotel was lovely, clean and staff welcoming Service for breakfast and drinks was very slow. The breakfast was a little disappointing, partly as it took a while to be served.
- David (8/5): - Comfortable and unique room, great location.
- Peter (8/5): Well worth a stay when in St Andrews - Plush suite Free Parking can take sometime to find especially during peak times
- Anderson (9/5): - A very warm welcome, spa facilities were lovely, and the staff were excellent. The restaurant served great food and hotel was in a fantastic location. Breakfast quality could have been slightly better, but lots of choice available.
- Heather (10/5): -
- Ross (10/5): Staff were perfect and helpful - Decor No car park
- Don (3/5): Started off badly - and got worse! Disappointing - Location - town centre - ideal for our visit. Beds - way too small
Separate building for bedroom from pool and spa - across a busy street
One breakfast - paid for two
Bedroom carpet seen better days
Dining room - more like a cafe
- Katie (9/5): - Staff were so helpful & rooms were lovely There was no lift, we had our baby in a pram so had to carry the pram up & down stairs
- Ben (8/5): -
- Craig (10/5): -
- Martin (10/5): -
- Sheila (10/5): Friendly staff - Super room Nothing
- Mark (6/5): - It did not feel like a 5 star hotel
- Adam (8/5): Overall, fantastic! Would definitely stay here again! - Great building in a great location! The staff was truly helpful and courteous. Our towel warmer was in the fritz and a little rusty. The tablet that is supposed to replace the need for a phone didn’t work to contact reception.
- D T HODGSON (10/5): - Location and fantastic rooms
- Stewart (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back - The room was excellent, location perfect and staff very helpful and friendly
- Emmanouil (8/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- megan (10/5): -
- JAMES DOCHERTY (8/5): St Andrews trip - Location and the suite was very nice laid out really well staff was very courteous and informative nothing was too much My only negative was house keeping cobwebs on alot of walls ceilings appliances lamps etc but it was not a major thing ,heating was full on so I turned of radiators and opened windows but understand that's a personal thing to hot to cold .
That said if they miss that ! What else are they missing ? But to end on a positive note would recommend staying and I will be staying again .
- Cari (7/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Didn’t live up to expectations - Comfortable and spacious rooms. Pleasant and welcoming staff. Central location. The rooms appeared clean but really needed a proper dust. There was food stains on the throw blanket on our bed which was quite off putting. Plug in sink didn’t work and there was brown rusty water coming out of the radiator.
Breakfast was underwhelming - the buffet items were fine but the full Scottish breakfast was very small and the avocado on toast with packed eggs was inedible - overcooked poached eggs, browned avocado and thick bread drenched in strong olive oil. Both my daughter and I couldn’t finish it.
I thought we had booked an upmarket guesthouse (although the property bills itself as a “hotel”). It just felt a little tired and didn’t live up to photos and descriptions on their website.
- Jackie (10/5): - Central location & great rooms
