- Magda (10/5): We had a lovely time and we’ll be happy to be back! - Super nice bedding, charming building, nice staff, everything was quiet. Our room and bathroom was incredibly spotless. The only downside is the lack of parking but it’s understandable. There is a car park right around the corner, about 2min walk and it’s free 18pm-9am.
- g11 (8/5): - Grosses Zimmer, praktisch eingerichtet, Frühstück gut. Kein Ausblick. Parken kostet separat. Badewanne zum Duschen eng.
- Lizzy (9/5): Lovely hotel on the moors. - Lovely hotel on the moors
- Angela (10/5): Amazing. Wish I'd had longer - Beautiful and very clean Lack of parking. But I managed free in the station
- PuddingElephant (9/5): - The staff were lovely. The food was great. Room clean and comfortable. Second visit and will absolutely be back. Thought room had a view as per booking, and shower was difficult for 6ft man and low ceiling.
- Howard (9/5): Very pleasant stay with good food - Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was amazing value for money
- Rianne (9/5): Last minute booking for me and my husband. Beautiful location and lovely hotel and staff! -
- J Morse (10/5): Perfect gem. - What an absolute gem of an Inn/hotel. Location was lovely and the staff from check in to breakfast were friendly helpful and happy. Food was good too. We had dinner and 4 different choices with every one perfect.
Super breakfast before we walked on the moors. Nothing.

- Colin (9/5): Pleasant. Waiter at dinner very professional yet friendly. - Breakfast was varied choice, prompt delivery to table. Room comfortable and everything we needed.
- Alasdair (8/5): - Excellent value, comfy, characterful, clean. Bathroom slightly dated, but functioned well and was clean.

- Abigail (9/5): - Super super comfy bed, really friendly staff, nice country pub atmosphere, clean, very dog friendly It was lovely. A little tired around the edges and not ‘lixury’ but really good for the price and the bed really was so comfortable
- terence (7/5): Nice location, lovely room, food was fine but more choice would of been great. - Room was nice, comfy bed and lovely linen / pillows. Everything you needed in the room. Constant hot water and a lovely deep bath to relax in. The noise from the above room was a little disappointing due to the creaky floors, so sleep was hit and miss. Would of been good if there was a little more choice for vegans on the menu, accept for the usual risotto and burgers.
- DAVID (8/5): -
- SOPHIE (9/5): friendly and accommodating staff who bent over backwards to make everything go well - breakfast is great and has a very good selection of choices.

- Sarah (10/5): an excellent venue with exceptional staff - the hotel exceeded our expectations. room was lovely. staff were fantastic and could t have been more helpful could have had fruit at breakfast
- Gillian (10/5): - Value for money, nice room Nothing
- Andy (8/5): Great location, exceptionally dog-friendly, friendly staff, comfortable room lovely Dartmoor walks. - The location of The White Hart Hotel Moretonhampstead is perfect for exploring Dartmoor National Park, with multiple dog walks straight from the doorstep, and we particularly enjoyed walking to The Fingle Bridge Inn for lunch and back with beautiful views along the way. The hotel caters exceptionally well for dogs and, for just £10 per stay, they are provided with a bed, treats, poo bags and a ball, and are welcome in the bar, lounge and restaurant, which made a real difference to us. Room 6 was a good size with a very comfortable bed and, although directly above the lounge bar at the front, we were not disturbed by noise. The staff were, without exception, polite, friendly and helpful, and while the food was good, and the cheese in particular delicious, I do think it is a stretch to describe Jacobs crackers, chedders and water biscuits as “artisan”.
However, while the breakfast was good, it did not meet the “exceptional” standard mentioned in other reviews, with boxed cereals, carton juices, basic sliced bread and what tasted like shop-bought hollandaise feeling fairly standard. The lounge chairs in the room were very uncomfortable and seem better suited as spare beds, although the bed itself was comfortable. The TV did not work despite checking connections, although this was not a major issue as we used a laptop and WiFi, which did drop out several times, although phone signal allowed use of a hotspot. Toiletries were good quality, and even the toilet paper was better than average, although anyone around six foot would struggle to stand upright in the shower in Room 6.
A very well-located and genuinely dog-friendly stay with friendly staff and a comfortable room, although a few small niggles meant it fell just short of being exceptional. Nothing major, just those mentioned above.
- HELEN (10/5): - Friendly staff, lovely meals, pleasing decor Nothing
- Paula (10/5): - Room clean and comfortable, staff friendly
- Penelope (10/5): - Central location with parking nearby. Dog friendly. Lovely room. Very friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful period property. Excellent breakfast.
- steven (10/5): Great location - Great location. Staff friendly. Clean hotel No car park. Had to use Public car park
- Stephane (10/5): -
- Robinson (9/5): - Lovely hotel with lots of history in a beautiful spot on the edge of Dartmoor.
The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Couldn't be helped, but they had to change the evening menu due to staff absence. The alternative was much more limited, so we were somewhat disappointed.
- Lynn (10/5): Relaxed and comfy - Friendly comfy good beer brilliant breakfast All excellent
- Peter (10/5): - Everything in every department was brilliant!
A very relaxing and lovely stay. Nothing.
- Linda (9/5): Very enjoyable - Lovely pub and rooms, good food Nothing it is a pub in a country town
- Edith (8/5): Nice stay overall - I overall liked my stay. Friendly staff. Breakfast could do with some fruit, not just prepackaged cereals, there were some odd choices in the breakfast menu (like mushrooms that cannot be served without garlic?) or that there is no hot water urn for tea but rather just a small thermos etc.

- Anita (9/5): Prettig hotel in “old english style”. - Goed hotel met goede service. Verlengsnoer werd meteen geregeld. Restaurant prima.

- Paul (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Very enjoyable - Great staff. Lovely evening meal and breakfast. Bit tired in places but excellent value for money

- Katriona (10/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): - Everything!
- Christopher (10/5): Amazing dog-friendly getaway in the heart of Dartmoor - The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and our dog - even bringing our pooch sausages for breakfast. We couldn't have asked for a more welcome reception.
- karen (7/5): - Good shower and comfy bed. Slow service at breakfast.
- Emma (10/5): Fantastic hotel in a great location - We had a fantastic stay. The hotel is old and characterful and beautifully maintained. We stayed in the separate Mews building, which was tastefully decorated and just a very short walk from the main hotel. Excellent location for walking and exploring Dartmoor and very dog friendly. Our evening meal at the hotel was delicious. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Very comfortable and relaxed stay - Very clean ,staff excellent
Food was really nice Nothing
- KONSTANTINOS (10/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): We love the bar and the food - Cooked breakfast sets me up for the day, we love staying here as we love walking in the area.
- stephanie (3/5): - The hotel is absolutely unsuitable for people with fur allergies. Some of the rooms have ancient carpets and upholstered furniture, as do the bar and restaurant. There was a lot of dog hair, and it smelled strongly of wet dog.
- Linda (8/5): - Friendly staff in all areas.
- Debbie (10/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): - Friendly and efficient. Bedroom too hot.
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Roland (9/5): - Very central to discover Dartmoor National Park.

- Harry (9/5): Fantastic stay at friendly, well-located hotel with very good food and great staff. - Great location for Dartmoor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good food and drink. Comfortable room with good hot shower. Not the fault of the hotel, but parking locally is paying.
- Alison (10/5): - Everything Blackout curtains let in too much light round the top
- Helen (9/5): - Good atmosphere and good location for cycling the Dartmoor way, and a good secure place to leave the bikes overnight. All good
- Cecilie (10/5): Wonderful stay at the White Hart! - Friendly staff, comfortable room, nice restaurant
- Piyush (8/5): Overall good value for money. Would return. - Clean and had a lot of character. Steep stairs
- Ann Shirley (7/5): - Centrally located No parking. Single glazing makes it noisy. Secondary glazing would help
- david (10/5): - Absolute gem everything was excellent, My bedoom was perfect very c9mfortable bed and the bathroom was ace.The staff were amazing. Food was excellent my evening meal was delicious and the breajfast was freshly cooked plus good selecti9n of cereals croissants etc. Nothimg!
- Adrian (10/5): Lovely stay in a very nice hotel. - It’s unusual these days to get breakfast included in the price. Excellent hotel with a very nice bar Can’t think of anything..
- Lynne (10/5): Very Comfortable and Quiet Stay - The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our twin room was very quiet and comfortable. We especially liked the homemade shortbread! Our evening meal in the bar area was delicious too. Breakfast offered a good selection of continental and freshly cooked food. Nothing stands out as being a "dislike"
- Nic (10/5): -
- john (9/5): - The breakfast was very good.
- Tina (9/5): The White Hart on the edge of Dartmoor has welcoming friendly helpful staff. We had a lovely room with a comfortable bed - The hotel was an old property charming, warm and cosy.
- Annabel (7/5): Nice for a one night stay - Nice location for first arriving at Dartmoor National Park, easy drives to key areas we wanted to visit.
The breakfast - perfect! Great choice directly from the menu for hot food, and additional croissants, cereal, muesli, yoghurt, toast etc as self serve.
Nice staff too , with quick and easy check in and check out. While it was generally clean, the building is old which gives it character but understandably leaves a few issues (no double glazed windows, small patches of mould). The bathroom ceiling is quite low especially in the shower over bath, and the bathroom layout was a bit tricky to navigate. Perhaps not the case in all rooms - worth asking though if accessibility is important.
It was fine for a night stopover, probably wouldn't stay for too much longer.
