Guest Reviews
- Guy (9/5): - De prachtige tuin.
- Dominique (10/5): -
- Nisha (7/5): A quick getaway - nice stop - Location was great. The room and the outside area was lovely. The outdoor shower and handbasin we uniquely decorated. Access to the property was easy and the hosts so very lovely and accommodating. Enjoyed the stay. The long drop was probably an experience not sure we enjoyed :-). Curtains on the back window of the cabin would be great. Felt someone going past could get an eye full. Some hooks in the cabin would be ideal to hang jackets and bags as ended up sitting on jacket. If you are tall it will be an issue ;-) and if you are the type that goes to the toilet in the middle of the night might be challenging when colder.
- Patricia (10/5): A time to recharge, relax and enjoy nature - Serenity, privacy and the view of endless vineyards External toilet, but really a minor issue
- BLittle Australia (10/5): Great place to stay amongst the vines. - Lovely breakfast. Mandy very kindly brought warm croissants each morning. Such a tranquil & picturesque setting in the heart of the wine region. It was so relaxing looking out to the grapevines. I loved all the fruit & olive trees. The hot tub was very relaxing as well.
Thank you Mandy & Patrick for making our stay so enjoyable.
- Mary (10/5): Perfect stop on our South Island road trip. - Location, location, location Nothing.
- Maureen (10/5): Beautiful setting surrounded by mountains & vineyards. Lovely gardens & lovely breakfast served everyday by Mand - The hosts were lovely & gave us great recommendations!! There was nothing not to like 👍
- Marc (10/5): - La courtoisie de Mandy , très gentille. Merci
- Iona (10/5): Very comfortable, and recommend - Large, spacious room, quiet, great facilities and a very friendly welcome. The breakfast was excellent too. N/A
- Anna (10/5): Idyllic and cosy with a great view - Beautiful gardens, very well kept, lots of olive and lemon / orange trees (very Mediterranean), great flowers, a pool (freezing), a hot tub (fun in the rain) and our great little pod - Stars and Vines. Very stylish and super comfy bed and linen.
Mandy and Patrick had thought of everything in the pod - a torch, a blanket, cushions for the chairs, a big brolly, robes for the hot tub, you name it! Breakfast was in the fridge - even fresh fruit salad and hot croissants were brought one morning! Separate building for the bathroom - Excellent shower and lots of hot water Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Terrific place to stay in middle of vineyards - Warm welcoming host (Mandy), super location in midst of vineyards, lovely garden and swimming pool and hot tub. Nothing!
- JOY M (10/5): Mandy was over the top customer service extraordinaire. Such a pleasant venue, serene and peaceful. - The friendliness of the proprietor. N/A
Keine Beanstandung.
- Robert (10/5): Just perfect - An Oasis of calm.
In a great location
- Krzysztof (9/5): -
- XING (8/5): - Very good location, beautiful garden view. The hosts are very friendly to show the local vine yard routes, and local eateries.
- Grete (10/5): A hidden gem! - Amazing views, loved the birdsong all day, very relaxing. The hosts were super friendly and giving very good advise on which vineyards to visit on a bike🚴♀️. I could have stayed here for a week without doubt😊 Nothing
- John (6/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Beautiful stay - Lovely property within walking/ cycling distance of vineyards. Very comfortable, peaceful and well equipped.
Mandy was an excellent host and made us feel very welcomed. Not staying long enough!
- Susan (10/5): - We liked:
- Friendly, informative and very helpful host, Mandy. She helped us plan our winery visits with suggestions of places that offered food etc.
- Fabulous location, nestled in amongst the vineyards of Marlborough, near Blenheim
- Very comfortable accommodation and good breakfast provided Nothing.
- Luke (10/5): Mandy and Patrick were exceptional hosts and made us feel very much at home. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone st -
- Derrick (9/5): Superb -
- Jenni (10/5): Perfect - Lovely situation, loads of space, most enjoyable we wish we had more time to enjoy the sunny outdoors and spa. Nothing
- Natalie (10/5): Great location, everything you need is there and lovely people, would highly recommend and will stay at Antares again if - The room and ensuite was immaculately clean and a good size, a large shared living area with ample facilities if you want to self cater. Breakfast made by Mandy was very nice and as big or as small as you like with hot and cold options and local produce. Super cute wooden hot tub, recommend going in at night and looking up at the stars. The location was great for the wineries and backs onto a number of cycle paths which run along the river, awesome scenery as you ride, and onsite bike hire. Super friendly people who go out of their way to ensure you get the most out of your stay. Would struggle to find fault, even the rain didn’t stop us having a great time!
- Scott (10/5): Excellent place to relax and recharge! - Peace and quiet away from city lodging. Mandy was excellent at making sure all of our needs were met and that we could relax for a
couple days to get a vacation from our vacation. Nothing
- Sally (7/5): Lovely stay amongst the vineyards. - Lovely location next to the vineyards and Mandy and Patrick (the owners who were lovely) sorted us out with bikes for the day at an additional charge (~45 NZD). Good sized room and nice breakfast. When booking just note that you share the kitchen and lounge with another room which was not a problem for us.
- Debra (10/5): Perfect base for wine tasting - We loved our stay. Lovely grounds and close to many wineries. We rented bikes from Mandy and, on the bike path and small roads near the Homestay, visited four local vineyards for tasting and lunch. Just a caution, these generally need to be prebooked. A wonderful stay overall
- Lachlan (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - The hostess was so accommodating and informative. Breakfast was lovely, with homemade jams. The bed was so comfortable and the location was perfect. Nothing
- Heather (10/5): Amazing home from home amongst the vines.Excellent facilities and a great breakfast.Very clean and comfortable. - Like being at home but with extra facilities such as a good sized pool and warm hot tub.Great hosts , especially Mandy who looked after us very well.Driving us to a nearby restaurant and providing bikes to tour around the local vineyards and breweries. Nothing
- Holly (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect and convenient to the wine region. Mandy was so nice and helpful Her breakfast was great and was at whatever time we needed.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - We were staying in a room in the main house and had access to a shared lounge and kitchen, although we were the only ones there the night we were staying. We rented bikes from Mandy so we could cycle around the vineyards and when we got back we had a lovely swim in the outdoor pool and a soak in the hot tub with lovely views of the mountains. Breakfast was really nice with cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants and poached eggs on toast. Antares is a great location for seeing the vineyards without having to drive.
- Angela (9/5): Very relaxing and great to have bikes to cycle round vineyards - Beautiful gardens with swimming pool and relaxing lounge
- Kim (10/5): Fabulous stay and would recommend to others exploring the vineyards. - Excellent hosts and pod was in a perfect location to explore the vineyards.
The bikes we hired were great.
Breakfast provided was really nice. NA
- Jennifer (10/5): - Antares Homestay is a gem in the heart of the Marlborough wine country. The inn keeper Mandy is wonderful and focused on making guests feel like family. She greeted us and provided a tour of the property and amenities. We stayed in the blue room which was large and quiet. Options for either A/C or enjoying the breezes from the gardens and vineyards. The queen size bed was super comfy. Breakfast was freshly baked croissants, fruit, yoghurt, granola and eggs cooked to order if desired. The B&B had a small kitchen with appliances and fridge for some snacks that we had purchased. The gardens and ponds encourage exploring and walking with a glass of local wine. We also used bikes that were available to explore some of the nearby wineries. We plan to be back in New Zealand in the next year or so and will definitely stay here again! So many wineries to check out, but one that was fantastic and right across the street is Hans Herzog. Highly recommend booking a wine tasting there.
- Benoît (9/5): Really nice stay - The localisation and property was really great.
The host was really friendly and accommodating.
Various options for breakfast. Also taking into considerations food restrictions. Rooms could be a little bit refreshed and the price is a bit high.
- Jerome (6/5): Nice view - The host was absolutely charming, the view is great. 8 square meter room.
Impossible to walk along the bed. Impossible to place 2 suitcases.
Stinking toilets.
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Jennie (9/5): This property is stunning and we enjoyed our stay very much. - The grounds were beautiful and the location was stunning. The two rooms in the main house shared a very thin wall and both the beds in each room were adjacent to this wall. You could hear the people in the other room clearly and they were not loud, so that felt a bit uncomfortable. The bed in the room was also too soft.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helena (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): Ah, the serenity! - So serene !! The bird song in the mornings and evening when sitting in the jacuzzi. The pool overlooking the vineyards. The gardens. Just so serene. The bedrooms and common areas were very well equipped with absolutely everything you’d need and more. Mandy was a dream host, very communicative and helpful. We’ll be coming back ! Everything was perfect.
- Johannson (10/5): Perfect, will certainly use again, and recommend you family - Just awesome, beautiful place and the host was amazing, nothing was too much trouble! Loved everything
- Hallie (10/5): Great location and easy access to vineyards. - Nice, quiet place right off the main road surrounded by many wineries easily accessible by bicycle. Mandy was a great host and friendly. Homemade delicious croissants at breakfast. Nice kitchen area to prep for lunch or dinner. Beautiful landscaped grounds.
- Bob (10/5): - Excellent accommodations, hosts, and breakfasts
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Wayne (10/5): - We loved our four night stay. Excellent host, great breakfast, hot tub, and poorl and located in the middle of the vineyards. Full kitchen is included. Bicycles available. The rooms are large airy and bright with views of the garden and mountains, flowers and vineyards. One of the best highlights of our trip to New Zealand
- Ball (9/5): Superb - Pod was lovely and comfortable. Fruit was provided from the orchard. Many and Patrick were very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend a fly screen and curtains on the window/door.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Mandy and Patrick were fantastic hosts and made us feel so welcome. The pod was nice and cosy (it was lovely having such a large bed) and the sunset was stunning. Mandy’s breakfast was lovely, including homemade jam and marmalade, and it was great to be able to hire bikes to explore the vineyards. Shower took a little while to warm up at times
- Malena (10/5): - Trevligt boende mitt i vindistriktet. Mycket trevligt värdpar som tipsade oss både under vår vistelse och under vår fortsatta resa.
- Pauline (10/5): All I wished for and more :) - Perfect location, great view, lovely cabin, very friendly hosts. Fantastic place to stay!
- Kerry (10/5): Absolutely wonderful and would highly recommend this property as great value in a wonderful location. - The location was as good as it could get in relation to exploring the area, right in the middle of the wineries. It was extremely comfortable and the hosts were wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful property with us. If the weather was bad there may have not been enough space inside, however as the weather was kind to us this was not a concern.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Cost Pod lovel location , central to wineries - Enjoyed the pod.
Comfortable bed lovely setting Bo loo smelt at times
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rory (7/5): Good -
- Robyn (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Mandy was a superb host !
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula Jill (10/5): - Near the wineries we wanted to visit, but quiet and pretty. It started to rain heavily, so we didn’t get to try the hot tub, but it looked like a perfect spot to relax.
- George (10/5): Would come back anytime. - Mandy is a great hostess. Welcoming and knowledgeable, she is a great source of information about wineries, restaurants and other local businesses. Antares is a little paradise surrounded by vineyards. Great B&B.
- Andrea (10/5): Very peaceful and private stay. - Loved breakfast. Loved the view out to the vineyard.
- Dawn (10/5): Lovely hosts in a fabulous setting - We loved staying in the heart of the vines. Mandy was so helpful and friendly. Nothing to note
- Rebecca (10/5): Perfect wine country stay. - Outstanding stay in the pod, overlooking the vineyard. Rode around the area on bikes. Stars at night. Very slightly inconsistent shower temperature, but really nothing that could diminish the enjoyment of this stay.
- Kaye (9/5): Comfortable B&B among vineyards with friendly hosts - Excellent location looking out over vineyards & next to cycle trail. Very hospitable hosts with delicious breakfast (especially the homemade marmalade!).Well maintained bikes available to hire from the property. Comfortable room with modern shared kitchen. Weather not warm enough to try the pool. WiFi coverage was limited to shared sitting/dining area
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alaine (8/5): Wish we had longer to enjoy the property more! - Sunrise over the vines was very special and the breakfast was beautiful. Very peaceful too.
- Heidi (10/5): Great place to stay in Marlborough wine country - We had a fantastic stay here! Mandy and Patrick are the consummate hosts and took such good care of us. Mandy recommended restaurants and wineries to visit and even booked us a fantastic tasting at Hans Hertzog which is right across the street. We had a bedroom and bath and the use of a full kitchen and living area right next to it. Many prepared delicious breakfasts for us and all the best wineries are within biking distance. They have a pool that was very pretty but we were too busy touring around to use it. I heartily recommend Antares Home Stay.
- Neil (9/5): Highly recommended for relaxing stay for wine lovers! - Great location, central to wine growing area. Bike hire great fun. Clean, comfortable, open common area. All modern facilities, high standards. Great welcome by Mandy and Patrick, couldn’t have been more helpful (even arranged short subscription for sky sports). Very knowledgeable about area. Beautiful breakfast made from home grown produce.
- Laurie (10/5): A beautiful spot among the vineyards! - Mandy was a great host and provided us with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice, French press coffee, and eggs for breakfasts. The pool and hot tub were great. Close to all the wineries. Use of guest kitchen facilities and large common room was included. Lovely homestay on beautiful property with congenial hosts.
- jose (10/5): - Very pleasant, quiet location nestled in the wine country. The gardens very well kept. Excellent suggestions from Mandy.
- Joanne (9/5): An ideal base to explore Marlborough wine country - Mandy’s hospitality was warm and generous. She made us feel very much at home. The unit was very well equipped and we were able to make most of meals in the kitchen. Her breakfasts were ideal. The site is lovely, surrounded by vines and they have a beautiful entrance lane with olive trees on both side. The Wi-Fi coverage could be improved in the common room and in the bedroom.
- Sharon (10/5): We were made to feel welcome and at home - The property was centrally located with spacious outdoor space as well as indoor space. There was the added bonus of the mineral pool and hot tub
- Rachel (10/5): A wonderful , special place to spend our 30th anniversary. - Firstly, Mandy is amazing! She picked us up from the station and drove us to Antares. We really enjoyed the Stars and Vines pod and the gorgeous view right next to the vines.Every detail has been thought about for comfort with care.
Bikes to ride to the river, vineyards or to dinner and back, and heaps of local knowledge about the vineyards and the area.
The welcome bottle of bubbles and chocolates for our anniversary, to a wonderful breakfast laid out for us every morning, by the fabulous Mandy. We enjoyed the refreshing swims in the pool and also the gorgeous Wairau River nearby.
Had a wonderful, relaxing fun weekend in 28-30 degree heat (January) and will be etched in our memories forever. Possibly the eco toilet as we werent expecting that, but it wasnt a big issue for us, and more of a point of difference!
- Wendy (10/5): Wonderful - Very peaceful and tranquil
- Prentice (10/5): - Wonderful hosts. Mandy was so nice. She drove us to a very nice restaurant. Helped with wine tour arrangements.
- Jill (9/5): Great. - The location was superb, set in a beautiful garden with a variety of trees, shrubs and flowers and the sound of many different birds. The property is surrounded by vineyards and has its' own orchard of citrus trees and olives. There was also a pool and hot tub for our use.
We were provided with everything we needed to make our own breakfast, with home made fruit salad and jams put in the fridge for us; and fresh baked croissants brought to us at the time of our choice. If we'd been there longer we could have used the barbeque provided for our exclusive use. We had chosen to stay in a glamping pod, which was great. However, the eco-loo in an adjacent building had no hand-washing facilities and the adjacent bathroom is not yet complete - we had exclusive use of a bathroom in the B&B property a short walk away, but I wouldn't have wanted to walk there in the middle of the night. I'm sure the bathroom adjacent to the pod will be complete soon, but this is a minor disadvantage at the moment, even if glamping!
- Susan (9/5): Comfortable and super friendly homesay in the heart of Marlborough’s vineyard region - Great location close to wineries
- Marc (10/5): Part of paradise - Mandy and Patrick are super hosts and make you feel like being home there.
We got the double rooms with own kitchen and living room, which was a lot of space, well equiped, clean and a nice style.
Vineyards were super easy to reach by the bikes and the view around was also fantastic, even at night with moon and stars. We liked the pool very much and the self made olive oil was one of the nice and delicious details. We will go there again, if we come back to NZL. -
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Doug (10/5): Lovely quiet getaway. - The host, Mandy, was extremely warm/welcoming and very helpful/knowledgeable of the area. The place was secluded and quiet, with an amazing view of the stars at night. Breakfast was a bonus, with great coffee and lots of options. I would highly recommend this place.
- Michelle (10/5): Private Pod in relaxing environment - Mandy the host was so welcoming and lovely. The facilities were comfortable and homely with lots of liitle touches which really made it special e.g. flowers on table, yummy croissants for breakfast plus there was a pool and hot tub. That we couldn't stay longer!
- Juliana (10/5): Friendly service in an idyllic setting - perfect for wine tasting and enjoying Blenheim. -
- John (10/5): Wonderful - Extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts.
Comfortable,clean and stylish accommodation.
Located right in the heart of the wine growing area, some walkable and all within cycling distance of the accommodation We liked everything about our stay
- David (9/5): Don't miss out on a stay at Antares Homestay - The location was superb and the host was very welcoming. It was great to be able to hire bikes on site and vineyards nearby. We loved the hot tub. The breakfast provided in the pod was very good and Mandy's attention to detail was much appreciated. The shower was not operational but it was no problem to use other facilities that were excellent.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Everything lovely. Glamping at its best! The bathroom was a bit of a walk but not a big deal
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Super cozy with beautiful views and Mandy was so lovely! Everything you need is available. Nothing!
- Donnajg (10/5): Antares for personal b & b experience - Mandy and Patrick great hosts based on old English b and b style. Loved the stay. Bike ride with wineries easy distance. Accommodation great, hot tub and beautiful gardens Nil
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - The hosts were very friendly and hospitable. The location was beautiful and very peaceful. The pod was unique and quirky and very comfortable. We liked everything. However, the main bathroom is a short walk away. There is a toilet next to the pod but has no water,so to wash your hands you have to use main bathroom, although wipes are provided. The owners are working to expand the toilet unit to a bathroom which will be fantastic.
- Frost (6/5): Pleasant -
- Trisha (8/5): Very good - Our hosts, Mandy and Patrick were so lovely and accommodating.
- Ian (8/5): Very good - There is no lighting outside it was pitch black.
- David (8/5): Nice place to stay in the country - Beautiful grounds with vineyards all around, olive and citrus trees, mountain views. The hut is cute and cozy. While it rained the whole time we had to be confined to the hut, and distance to shower, toilet and hot tub was a problem. If the weather had been dry, we would have enjoyed the stay much more.
