Rien
- Ivy (6/5): - The staff were friendly , nice little eating area. Quiet and peaceful.
At a convenient location. It was a good walk from the main Street, if you don't really like walking.
I found the rooms to be dusty.

- Anya (6/5): A bit overpriced for the experience - The view from the hostel was great, as the hostel is on a hill. The room was spacious and the bed had a lot of storage and privacy curtains. There was even a little conservatory area outside the room to relax or dry laundry in the sun. The lounge area was also comfortable. Everything about the building seems very old and outdated. The windows would audibly shake quite loud anytime the room door was opened or closed. The interior is makes it feel like a hospital - very cold and not very cosy feeling. Although they have an onsen, the showers aren't clean - lots of mould. It's quite close to the amanohashidate sandbar, but it's a 30 minute bus journey and then 10 minute quite steep uphill walk from the train station (with all of my luggage this wasn't too fun). It's also not close to any restaurants or convenience stores. Almost everything was about an hour's walk away. The bed is traditional japanese style, and although i'm used to the futon and bean pillow now after living in Japan for a while, i still feel more comfortable with a regular pillow.
I don't know if it was only the one night i stayed but there was almost no social vibe at all.

- Sarah (10/5): 100% recommend! - Everything is amazing ! Lots of space, good explanation of the place, good equipments like a kotatsu or a sento ! The jaanese breakfast was delicious, and because this is the low season, i was alone in the dormitory :) Only thing to say is it's a bit hard going up with your luggage but the view and the temple next to it make it worth it.
Also, i guess the bed are not the most comfortable but still very good for the price.

- Chintan (7/5): Lovely quaint hostel and good value for money. The staff is super nice! - Location, staff, and the dining room! The hostel doesn’t have great heating. It was very cold in the corridors (where there is no heating).
- Adriána (8/5): For simple travellers, women friendly, tatami for free - It was in the forest, and very pleasant. About 15 minutes walk, behind a temple and also near some shrine.
There were also tatami in the room, no need to pay extra. So if you want traditional accommodation without paying extra, I recommend it. I was there when there were about 3 guests there.
It is for undemanding travelers. I found a cockroach, heh. Little bit scary. The dining area was not very clean.

- Ksenia (10/5): Magical place with a view and cosy atmosphere - If you're into vinyls, they have quite a collection there and it keeps growning with guests contributing too!
Overall, waking up in the place and seeing Amanohashidate in the morning light from their wonderful terrace is going to be a memory I will cherish.

- Mjbmc (10/5): -
- Winterborne (7/5): A bit overpriced for an average place - There was a nice, serene shrine nearby.
They have breakfast and dinner available if you need it.
Beds are warm, comfortable, and large enough.
Free parking.
Front desk lady was quite nice and helpful.
Instructions, amenities, and facilities were clearly marked or explained. The public bath is small and made of stainless steel - cramped and slippery.
The bathroom is quite far from some of the rooms, so if you need to use it in the middle of the night, it could be a long walk.
The place is an old building with metal doors so it feels a bit cold and old. Lacks character.
Price is much too high for what you get.
The view from our room was an overgrown yard with junk stored on balconies in clear view and bamboo blocking the ocean.

- Bert (8/5): - Tolles Essen, tolle Lage. Sehr aufmerksames Personal.

- Alice (7/5): A cozy rustic retreat hidden in the woods - The hostel is immersed in lush greenery, and the common room/breakfast area looks out on the bay. Truly lovely view of forest and sea!
The bathrooms, showers and shared bath are all relatively new and clean. There are a couple of washing machines and driers you can use for a couple hundred yen!
Breakfast is tasty and cheap, a typical Japanese meal set with rice, tofu and fish. Recommended!
We didn’t have a chance to eat dinner here, but at only 1200¥ per person it sounds really convenient - especially because leaving and returning to the hostel at night can be difficult due to its rural location up a steep hill.
The front staff is extremely kind and helpful! They received my luggage delivery and gave me useful information about transportation. Due to the natural location, the open verandas and dated fixtures, it’s inevitable to find a few spiders - which won’t be a problem for people braver than I! Keep in mind this is a simple, rustic experience in an older facility and the rooms reflect that. The bunk beds are a little dusty, so I would recommend the Japanese style tatami room.
Due to the steep hill, I can’t recommend it for people with difficulties walking uphill.
- YUNG CHI (7/5):

- o-town-davo (2/5): - The only positive thing about this accommodation was its location and accessibility to Miyazu, Yosano and the surrounding area, as there were not many available accommodation capacities in the area. Otherwise it was a big disappointment and one felt like one was in a third world country and not in Japan. The price for the accommodation absolutely did not correspond to the quality offered. Just the night before we had a hotel for only a slightly higher price, but the quality of this accommodation was many times higher.
This accommodation was more like a hostel, which is fine, but it rather resembled some horror hostel from a B-movie horror movie. You can see that the building is older, which is also fine, but apart from its age it also seemed very unkempt. Unkempt greenery, last year's leaves not raked up, crumbling railings, wooden elements. The equipment was not only old, but also unkempt. Towels were not even part of the equipment, we had to pay extra for them. The bathroom in the form of an onsen was very old, variously repaired and glued tiles, joints,... here and there mold in the joints. We are not hypersensitive, but this was too much for us. We slept in strange sheets on even stranger mattresses. Really, everything was outdated, just poorly maintained. I understand that the equipment doesn't always have to be modern or new, but even older equipment can be maintained regularly to keep the accommodation clean and cozy. Luckily we survived the night, but in the morning we quickly packed up and left as soon as possible. The only small positive was the breakfast, which was pleasant, Japanese.
- Kumi (10/5): Lovely accommodation surrounded in nature with great people. Great for backpackers who want to immerse in Japanese cult - Extremely friendly and attentive staff, excellent home made food for great price, spacious private bedroom, homely atmosphere, laundry facilities and cheap bike rental. Affordable accommodation with old charm. Will go back again for a longer stay next time. Lovely hostel- if you are after luxury, it may not suit all tastes- go and stay in a hotel- but if you are after friendly staff and calm atmosphere it’s a perfect retreat. Nothing.
- Imke (1/5): Worst accomodation I had during my month long Japan trip - The girl behind the desk was so nice to help me get a taxi away from that place so I could reach another hotel I had to last minute book The room was not at all like the pictures, there was a hole in the floor in the middle of the room which was covered with carpet but you could still feel it. There was no ac on and all doors in the room (even a mysterious back door of which I still have no idea where it led to) were open so it was buzzing with a lot of musquitos. The room just overall looked very outdated and kind of like a haunted house, this made me (for the first time during my month in Japan) get the urge to do a bed bug search and I found some unsettling black things on the bed one of which was very clearly a dead bug. On top of all this there were no other people staying in the hostel next to me which made it even more creepy, so I booked the first hotel room I could find and was out of there within half an hour… Unfortunately they only refunded 50% of what I paid.
- Hiroko (4/5): Good to have a shelter overnight - Good view and quiet location Food provided was not necessarily good for us; too heavy and too salty.
- Darrell (7/5): Good -
- Eva (7/5): Okay for 1 night stay. - Kitchen space available. Big lounge space. English speaking staff Location wasn’t great, hill is a bit tough with luggage. Facilities are quite old and not the cleanest but matches the price, I suppose.
- Jimmy (7/5): Good - The rooms are big and comfortable, and the common room is an awesome spot to hang out. There’s a great view, and overall it’s a really comfortable place to stay. There’s a few things that are charged extra that we weren’t expecting, like use of the laundry machine and towels. There’s also only one western style shower, so there could sometimes be a line for people to wait. The WiFi was also hit and miss.
- Taryn (9/5): Superb - The hostel was very comfortable and cozy. The location was excellent, with a view of the bay and a short walk to the ferry terminal, grocery store, bus stop, and entrance to the sandbar. While the room was a little dusty, it was clean overall and the beds were comfortable. The facilities were good, and we especially enjoyed the bath. The hosts were very kind and helpful; we reached out about some dietary restrictions for dinner in advance, and they were able to accommodate them. One of the employees even called the bus station for us when we had lost one of our bags on a bus, and helped to arrange for us to get it back.
- Whitney (7/5): Good - A decent budget place to stay for the night. The bed was comfortable and the break room had a great view and a lot of books and games. The family rooms had nice patios that would’ve been lovely in warmer weather. If you’re only staying one night, which is all you should need in Amanohashidate, then this place is good enough for one night. The staff was friendly and helpful
- Jasmine (7/5): A cosy, scenic, getaway from the city. - This hostel made me feel like I was back at school camp. And I loved it. Needless to say, it was fun, cosy, and it had a retro feel that made it so interesting. The views from the place are out of this world! Namaishkii (I hope I spelled his name correctly) was so sweet, helpful, and tentative to the needs of those staying at the accomadation. The bedding is super warm, if you stay during the colder weather. I unfortunately have terrible hay fever, and got bad congestion due to some dust buildup underneath my roommate's bed. But no one is at fault, because this place is run by mainly one person throughout the day and night and they're on top of everything else!
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional - great view from hostel. lovely shared space. could have been a little cleaner. especially bathroom.
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Nice quiet area next to a shrine and not far to walk over the Amanohashidate All good. Lovely youth hostel feeling.
- Isaac (10/5): When visiting Amanohashidate 100% would recommend - The communal area was so nice. Fusbal table, lots of books to read at your leisure, comfy couches and awesome views to top it off. Staff was also friendly and the location was very convenient for visiting the main attractions of the area. The accomodation was cheap so it's no surprise but the rooms were a little flimsy, but hey you get what you pay for. It was super comfortable regardless.
(7/5): Good -
- Tjun (5/5): Passable -
- Sharon (7/5): Good -
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good -
- Ariel (1/5): My worst experience on the trip - My stay at the hotel was a very disappointing experience. From the moment I arrived, I was met with an unpleasant and unfriendly reception from the staff, who seemed disinterested and impatient. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was viewed solely as a source of income.
The staff's attitude was cold and unaccommodating, and they completely ignored my request for an early check-in. Additionally, the hotel did not look anything like the photos online. The walls were peeling, and the overall condition of the place was neglected and run-down.
If you’re looking for a place that values and respects its guests while providing a pleasant experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. Change to a nicer team, and put pictures that really reflect what the place looks like
- Parkpoom (10/5): Exceptional - Environment and location and price
- Judith (7/5): Good - Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Lovely dinner but needs to be ordered in advance. Nice to have a public bath. Good views. It's a little tired and could do with some refurbishment, but great value and we enjoyed our stay there.
- Hoi (7/5): Good - Wonderful staff.
- Jarrod (8/5): If you are staying in Amanohashidate, this stay is very comfortable -
- Montree (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ines (9/5): Great! - Really welcoming, comfortable, clean hostel with an old fashioned charm. Breakfast and Dinner were delicious!
- Ghait (3/5): Disappointing experience regarding cleanliness and hygiene - to be honest: nothing The hostel was generally not well-maintained. The bathrooms were particularly unclean, with an unpleasant odor lingering throughout the space. A damp, musty smell seemed to permeate the entire building, and to make matters worse, I noticed traces of blood on the sheets.
- Elizabeth (7/5): Low price , just about OK to stay at- good location but very tired facilities and surroundings. - The hostel was adequate as a place to stay as a solo traveller but the building is tired and could do with an update. The location was good as it was elevated and had views over the bay (see pic). There was free coffee and tea in the communal room which was furnished with basic tables and chairs plus some old sofas and a TV. There was a collection of vinyl and a record player which would have been great to use if the TV had ever been turned off...
The dorm slept 4, bunks with privacy curtains and tatami mat flooring - all fine. but the balcony was a bit grotty although OK for hanging clothes out to dry. I wish the little balcony area off the main room was cleaned up and made more pleasant - I don't find ashtrays full of cigarette butts appealing. I found the Japanese bath washing area acceptable, but you had to just keep going to see if it was free - no room for more than one person in the bath at a time. The outside of the YH could do with a good tidy up... it just feels tired and unloved. I'd stay again for the price and location as a place to lay my head, but it could be better I think - and I wouldn't want to stay with friends.
- Netta (8/5): Very good -
- Truong (9/5): Superb - the atmosphere of the hostel was great, cozy. The family room was spacious. The hostel has a common living room + dining room which is my favorite. The living room has a great vinyl collection, one piece manga collection, board games to play. The terrace, where you can sit and have a sip of coffee or tea, overlook the iconic scene . They offer rental bicycles which is a great option to roam around and explore the scenic Amanohashidate. The staff was helpfull I didn't expect the climb to the hostel a bit physical challenging. But It worth the climb anyway
- Mui (7/5): Good -
- Gang (8/5): Very good -
- Varvara (10/5): Exceptional - This is one of the best places I've ever stayed in. It felt like a lovely homestay. I booked one bed only but had a whole room to myself. It's lovely, quiet, comfortable, and surrounded by beautiful countryside. I would gladly spend the whole summer there, if I could.
- Ralph (9/5): Superb -
- Chatrattanawet (5/5): Passable -
- Artit (9/5): Best view, little bit difficult to find but great place. -
- Nicole (7/5): A nice and fun stay in Amanohashidate within a reasonable budget - The breakfast was splendid! The meal seemed gluten-free. We didn't specify that we were Celiac but being served a meal that wasn't fried nor contained soy sauce helped a lot! The common room next to the dining room was cozy, we spent most of our time there reading magazines. The staff were also helpful and friendly, a couple of them spoke English. Renting bikes was cheap, you just have to be aware of pushing them up on the steep hill where the hostel is located. The room we stayed in was dusty, we caught allergies from the dust at some point. The bath area needed some cleaning as the drains easily got clogged. The road towards the hostel had no streetlights so it felt unsafe walking at night.
- Noheila (1/5): Really dirty and disappointing - The hostel is near Amanohashidate cable car which is convenient. It's really dirty. We found a cockroach in our room! And we wanted to ask for help from the staff but they were not available!
Also we actually couldn't ask for a dinner or breakfast although it was indicated that we could, so we went to the supermarket instead. To be honest I really don't recommend this place!
