Guest Reviews
- Nathan (10/5): - Friendly staff and amazing scenery
- Grant (10/5): - The front desk, the owner family, are all very nice and helpful. Thanks so much for your kindness, support, and information.
- Nimshi (10/5): The owner is so kind and helpful - The owner was extremely helpful and generous. He spoke very good English.
- Samuel (10/5): - Lovely hotel with incredible views.
- Olivia (10/5): - The property is very nice and clean. One thing to note in the thin walls as you can hear your neighbours if they’re talking normally/snoring. The owners of the property are very kind and helpful. Overall I would recommend for anyone staying in the area
- Benjamin (8/5): - Tea Cloud Guest House was a good property! Nice and peaceful, however felt quite isolated and very limited dining options. The restaurant next door was ok and very expensive, I would advise people to have a 7/11 dinner instead of eating at the restaurant next door. The staff at the accommodation were incredibly nice and welcoming and offered me some free tea which I greatly appreciated!!
- Naomi (10/5): - The hotel owner was very kind and helpful. He drove us to a nice Taiwanese restaurant.
Tea tasking was also good.
- SHOU SHAN (8/5): - 浴室地板的排水孔會排出臭味,整個房間整晚都聞得到,難受。住宿環境很安靜、整潔。
- Tony (10/5): - The property is half way to the top of the mountain, so about an hour's driving from Jiaye.
The suite we stay has two bedrooms, a shared washroom with two bidet toilets and a large shower. It also has a large living room and an open tea room that can be converted into a bed room. The suite is clean and very comfortable to stay for a family.
The staffs were very friendly.
One of the attractions of Alisan is sunrise, you can enjoy a cup of Alisan's green tea in their lounge at the sixth floor. However, if you are enthusiastic about Alisan's sunrise, you should drive to the top of the mountain. You will be above the cloud which is very beautiful also and be able to watch the sun rising from the cloud.
- Ana (8/5): - Amazing views from the room. Large and comfortable. Staff very nice. My one disappointment, is that it says B&B which to me means bed and breakfast. There was no breakfast and no place to get breakfast. I was told to go to 7/11.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great and friendly hosts, location by public transport while on the way to Alishan tourist area (35-40 mins away) is relatively convenient 5 min walk from closest bus stop. Heater provided in room. Shower is clean. Common area is very comfortable.
- Chan (10/5): - 老板非常熱情招待客人,能解決我們的需求。
- I-SHUN (10/5): - Beautiful room, clean and cozy. Friendly staff and service. Highly recommended.
- Douglas (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. The hosts were extremely friendly offering us tea and assitance getting to amazing trails through bamboo forests and tea farms.
- Christy (10/5): - Beautiful property, free tea tasting, and very wonderful host. Host was a pleasure to talk to and was always available for any assistance we needed. Had great recommendations for food and hikes nearby. He also took the time to show us his family’s tea farm only 2 minutes away. The views were incredible. Alishan Recreational Forest was only 30-40 minutes away.
There is machine laundry, but clothes need to be air dried. However, there are enough lines and fans to allow the clothes to dry overnight.
Overall amazing stay!!
- Val (10/5): - Amazing stay. The staff were awesome. Unfortunately pouring rains dampened our stay, but they did the most to make if great.
- SengKee Joseph (10/5): - Simple hotel better than city acclaimed int'l hotel. At least equipped with Int'l tv channels and 220v charging points.
Tranquil location and friendly family owned hotel.
- Cai Xia (10/5): Comfortable room - Room is spacious and clean. Hosts are kind and attentive. Fantastic sunrise view from the viewing area on the 6th floor. A lack of heating made the room rather chilly but the bed was warm and comfortable.
- Min (10/5): - Mr Liu and family are great hosts. 6th floor solarium viewing area to watch the sunrise and sea clouds in comfort. Lots of tasting of awardwinning teas from their own plantation. Yummy dinner at Tian Mama restaurant right next door. Given a morning tour of their tea plantation and got introduced to the rhythms of mountain farming life.
- Genevieve (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, and staff was incredibly sweet. You can see the Alishan sunrise from the hotel - no need to jostle up the mountain. Family owned, and it shows! Staff also drove us to the bus stop to go up the mountain the next day.
- John (10/5): - A great option for anyone visiting Alishan. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff/owner, and very comfortable rooms. The 6th floor viewing area should not be missed!
- Peggy (8/5): - The room is very spacious and the vicinity is quite convenient (of course it would be easier with a car). The only drawback is the odour from toilet/bathroom is quite irritating but I think it is possible at high altitude. Overall the experience is good.
- Tristan (10/5): - This property was very nice. The room was comfortable and extremely clean. The bed was excellent. It was actually much better than I expected. The family running the B&B were very helpful and happily drove me to the closest town. Breakfast was not available when I stayed, which was a little disappointing. There are not any restaurants in the area around the hotel which may be a problem if you are fussy about food.
- Brian (8/5): - 希望房間內可以多一個垃圾桶,不然只有浴室有垃圾桶要丟垃圾有點麻煩。
- Ken (10/5): - Excellent service and conditions
- courtesance (8/5): - We love that our room was big and roomy. There isnt any airconditioning in the room but not needed as the weather was cooling. Comes with 2 fans. Its a bed and breakfast unfortunately breakfast wasnt available on site. It works for us as we drove so we could go out and look for food. Service was amazing and homely. Level 6 has a seating area which was big and you can gather there to eat or drink or chit chat if u do not wish to stay in the room.
- Alex (10/5): - The rooms are cozy and there is a nice communal area on the 6th floor to watch the sun rise.
The owner, Mr Liu was warm and friendly, he took us around his tea garden and offered us a tea tasting session and explained the characteristics of his tea.
Would also like to express appreciation to the owner's son for mailing an article left behind to our Taipei hotel.
- Andrew (10/5): Very kind and helpful! - It was great! I was staying in the area to hike Yu Shan peak and the hotel helped me find a private driver that picked me up from the train station, took me to the hotel, and the next day took me to the trailhead.
- Martin (10/5): - The owners were fantastic, can't say enough about them helping me arrange a trip to Alishan, offering some excellent tea, and driving me to a restaurant for lunch and dinner.
- Philip (10/5): - The owners were wonderful, friendly people. They drove us to a restaurant for dinner and breakfast, showed us their tea plantation, and allowed us to sample their tea. They spoke good English and some Japanese in addition to Chinese.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great. - Very friendly staffs, marvelous scenery, tasty tea. Great!!!
You can buy Alishan tea here, too. Thank you.
- Robin (10/5): The perfect home base for your Alishan adventures - My siblings and I stayed here for three nights while we explored Fenqihu and Alishan -- we had an amazing, relaxing and comfortable time, much of it owed to the friendliness and graciousness of Mr. Liu and his family. They made sure we had all the information we needed for each day's adventures and went out of their way to shuttle us to breakfast and our bus stops. I was even lucky enough to have a tea tasting and a tour of their tea farms before leaving. The facilities were clean, the views were absolutely gorgeous, and I would absolutely return to stay there again.
- Jane (10/5): - I booked this stay due to good review and indeed i was not disappointed. The owner and his son were very hospitable and make sure our stay was good. It was cold at night in december and we are not use to it, they provided hot water container for us which kept us warm during the night that we could sleep better. Highly recommend and the sunrise was beautiful except we couldn't see sea of clouds. Thank you Tea Cloud!!!
- Meil (8/5): - 房間乾淨整潔,滿高水準的民宿,有機會會再去,很值得推薦!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Mr. Liu and his family are very hospitable and accommodating. They were always happy to provide a ride to and from the main bus stop in Shizhao. The property is in a lovely location with local hiking trails and scenery eg tea plantations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A comfortable stay. Modern looking. We had a nice view of the sunset.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Tea-rific Stay :) - Empathy and hospitality.
Mr. & Mrs. Liu and Karsing were very helpful without being intrusive. From rides to meals & hikes to laundry to tea information & tours.
The accommodations and breakfast are secondary to the priceless experience of learning and being in the Alishan tea plantation area.
Had the most English TV channels vs all other places we stayed at. :)
- Shawn (10/5): - Host was very kind and helpful. I have learnt a lot of life and things from him. Love the simple and delicious local breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners are fantastic and super helpful. The place is in a beautiful setting surrounded by tea fields. I wish I'd stayed longer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean neat room, nice & warm hosts. Would be better if both windows can be opened instead of only one. The other window is sealed which we feel a pity. Other than that, the overall experience is great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Tea Cloud B&B. Our host Karsing was outstanding. Both nights we were there, we got to sit and drink tea from their own plantation, which was a great experience. On our full day there, we visited the plantation, and then Karsing drove us to a trailhead and gave us directions for a beautiful 4 hour hike through bamboo forests, up a mountain, and through tea plantations all over the area. He also recommended restaurants for us and showed us a local coffee plantation. We went here expecting to drink some tea and enjoy some views, but our stay far exceeded our expectations. Cannot recommend Tea Cloud B&B enough. Thank you Karsing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It went beyond my expectations in terms of the cleanliness of the hotel and facilties as well as the comfort it provides. It was really homely and cozy. This is so far one of my best stay in "min sy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location for sunrise with free parking lot, friendly and helpful staff.
- Chee (8/5): - Good stay and friendly owner
- Loh (10/5): - Good hospitality, thanks to Mr Liew and his son for fetching us to town for dinner and send us to bus station. Treated us really well and brought us the his tea plantation. Breakfast was very good. Thank you and keep up the good work
- Ryan (10/5): Accomdating and pleasant stay! Highly recommend! - Owner let us sample the teas he grows and gave us a tour of his farm.
- Dan (8/5): - Great views from comon area of sunrise over the mountains and tea terraces
Comfortable beds, great for a night or 2
- SE (8/5): - We had rather high expectations of Tea Cloud due to the reviews we read especially in TA but unfortunately, we felt a little let down by the hospitality we received when we arrived.
Perhaps we arrived a little too early which the host was not expecting and we didn't get a chance to try the tea and visit the plantation till much later and it was merely coincidental that we managed to do the above.
Nevertheless, the place is really nice and if you do not intend to head to Alishan to view the sunrise, you can do so in the comfort of the minsu.
- Lucy (10/5): Fantastic welcoming stay - I had a great 2 night stay, I arrived by bus from Chiayi Train Station - got off at the stop very close to Tea Cloud and was made very welcome when I arrived. The family that own the B&B (it’s more like a hotel) are so lovely, it helps that the son speaks great English and the parents good. They took me up the road 5 minutes both nights for dinner, on my full day I watched sunrise nearby at a trail suggested to me- phenomenal then lovely fresh breakfast including vegetables and fruit. I got the bus to explore Alishan before coming back for sunset and dinner, 2nd morning again lovely sunrise (you can also watch from 6th floor viewing space), before viewing the family’s tea plantation & factory (I bought tea too- it’s not cheap but amazing), then I was dropped by car to Fenchihu where I stored my luggage at the station only £1.25 equivalent for 3 hours while I explored before getting the famous mountain narrow gauge train back to to Chiayi then onwards train to Tainan. I’d really recommend allowing 2 nights here- 1 would be possible but very rushed. I even enjoyed a run in the tea plantations and enjoyed sharing tea with the parents who one the hotel- their English and a little google translate goes a long way! My room was spacious, comfortable and clean and I enjoyed leaving the window open (with a fly screen) to slew with fresh mountain air after all the air conditioning on my travels through Taiwan.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The B&B is located on the roadside leading to Alish
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great B&B in the mountains! - A gem of a hotel. Just a few rooms with a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains. You can see the sunrise from the glass enclosed top floor and from the dining area. Short walk to the nearest town and bus stop to Alishan. The owners have lived in Alishan for three generations and are experts at advising on sights to see. The owner’s son Karsing, was a great host. He went out of his way to drive us to get dinner as we arrived late (restos close at 19:30) and the next day drove us to the nearby old town of Fenqihu (15 min away) where we had incredible walks through the bamboo and cedar forests- no one else around! It was a highlight of our trip to Taiwan. The bus to Alishan runs regularly (30-45 min trip). Stayed an extra night as we liked it so much. The owner runs a tea plantation and was proud to give us a tea tasting. Amazing place to stay!!!
