Guest Reviews
- DAVID (10/5): Perfect - The Staff were very polite
Good service
- Cyril (9/5): -
- James (4/5): V disappointing - Run down with disinterested staff
- Jane (8/5): Mostly Good for what we needed apart from above. - The location of the room was good. We were a bit disappointed they didn’t do breakfast. Not necessarily a cooked one but one that guests could help themselves to, as we had to go elsewhere, so really they are loosing out on profit.
- Karianne (8/5): Had everything we needed and a very comfortable sofa bed!! - Friendly staff The guests in the room next door made noise till 3am then again at 5am but out if the hotels control
- Marion (9/5): -
- Callaghan (9/5): Stayed an extra night ! - Great setting, great staff, lovely bar. Food from the bar was good. Wi-Fi was good. Recommend! Shower controls in Room No. 4 were somewhat stiff and clunky to set. Nothing a little sprits of WD40 won’t solve.
- Tony (8/5): -
- Dominic (8/5): -
- TJ (10/5): -
- Marion (9/5): We were doing a 13ml sponsored trek for the Alzheimer’s Society the day after arrival & were travelling up from Devo - Easy location to find, very welcoming and accommodating staff. Simple but comfortable in the pub. Good local beer. Great garden space (beautiful wisteria).
Perfect for our needs. Nothing
- Gary (10/5): Excellent stay - The room was fantastic. Had everything we needed and a beautiful view over the garden . Very clean and comfortable. The only criticism was that the mirror in the bathroom was very high and I had to stand on tip toe whilst having a shave , and I'm not short . Pub meal was very good and staff very helpful. Had a very good evening there . Beer garden huge and very well kept with loads of tables . Highly recommend. Only bathroom mirror .
- Karen (8/5): -
- Holly (6/5): Friendly staff nice food, could do with updating - Staff was very friendly and food was nice The room was very dated and I don’t think the bedding was clean as there were stains on the sheet and other unwanted bodily items in the bed!
- Chris (9/5): - Staff were brilliant, couldn't help you enough
- David (10/5): -
- Lindsay (6/5): - The bed was clean and comfortable. Parking was easy. The room was very tired. The wall paper was torn from the wall in several places, the toilet roll holder had been snapped off.
It's very dated. It has kitchen style cupboards in it.
The taps in the bathrooms continually run.
The shower was fine.
Parking was easy. Checking in we were told by the first person he had no idea what he was doing so he needed to get the manager.
We stayed here to visit Larkhill camp and it was a £45 taxi journey away so beware if you're thinking of using it for that.
I wouldn't visit the Pelican Inn again.

- Neil (6/5): Cheep and cheerful - Great pub with good food for dinner. The rooms are external motel style and are comfortable if a bit dated. The room had a fridge, which was great, but the fridge door was hanging of. Great value just in need of a bit of tlc.
- DAVID (8/5): Great price and location. - Great staff, location was good for us. Door was difficult to close, shower very hard to use, could do with a blind on the bathroom window.
- Raymond (10/5): Great values - Everything Nothing
- Sharif (8/5): -
- Farzana (7/5): -
- Leanne (8/5): Great value for money. Very welcoming staff. - Very comfortable. Great location for Longleat. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Food in the pub was very nice. Nothing of note.
- Jim (8/5): - A good place to stay. It was mid way between our journey. It was all fine.
- Anthony (7/5): Good value, comfy bed - Location, price, clean, comfy bed No breakfast available
- DAVID (10/5): -
- Helen (6/5): A pleasant enough stay, good customer service but the restaurant lets it down. - It was a convenient location for where we needed to be. The lady who checked us in was excellent, very enthusiastic and obviously loved her job.
The bed was comfortable and clean. The room rate for the night was very reasonable. It was cold in the restaurant despite the fires, there were quite a few choices not available on the menu, and my meal was very disappointing, and not good value for money. The shower in the room was not particularly pleasant either.
- Charles (7/5): - Nice pub location, good food and beer. Room needs modification.
- Kevin (8/5): Bed was very comfortable and room was nice that a biscuit was in the room - Location to the job, comfortable bed plenty of heating in the room would recommend this stop over pub
Food good at a reasonable price Television signal not good so really needs sorting maybe with a larger smart tv
- Michael (8/5): All in all! Absolute bargain!! - We was very surprised with the room, it was very comfortable and warmed up quite quickly once we got the heaters on!! There was no clear labels on any electrical items to indicate a PAT test has been completed and the Fire Extinguisher appeared to have been last checked in 2021 where as I am sure this should be checked annually.
- Melita (9/5): Lovely, quiet, perfect location for us, friendly staff! - They don't provide breakfast See above
- Catherine (3/5): Disappointing - Our room was not cleaned properly. Mould in the shower, grime at the bottom of the shower. Toothpaste in the sink. Hair on our pillows. Room had not been vacuumed.cobwebs on the walls and ceiling. Wi-Fi was poor. Door lock was not working properly. You could hear the people in the next room as if they were in your room. Food was also below standard.
- Geoff (3/5): Much less than expected - Nothing There was no breakfast available and no toiletries in the bathroom or drinking glasses and the decoration was very dated and tired
- William & Neve (7/5): - Relaxed atmosphere No bath soap in shower room This is usually supplied in similar accommodation fir ocer night stays.Fridge not working as door didn't close.
- Susan (8/5): - Excellent care of dietary allergies. Really exceptional about to feed a bunch of us with gluten intolerance. Thank you
- Denise (8/5): - Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff, lovely clean and comfortable rooms The signal of the TV is very poor,
- Terry (10/5): -
- Gary Havard (10/5): -
- Win (9/5): Great rooms - Convenient to drive to Stonehenge. Spacious room. Helpful staff
- Stefania (10/5): A pleasant stay and good value for money. - Good value for money and a pleasant overall atmosphere. Nohing to mention.
- EMMA (9/5): -
- paul (8/5): -
- James Jacob (8/5): - No breakfast.
I liked having a Gideon's Bible Internet did not work
- Denise (7/5): - Friendly helpful staff. However bathroom heater wasn't working so very cold in the bathroom, also room heater could be better, but very nice location and pleasant clean rooms. Bed was a bit hard Bathroom very cold
- Barrie (2/5): - . The room
- Donna (5/5): Dated and tiered - Staff are lovely area view beautiful Rooms are dated, stained carpet, ripped wall paper, full of spiders
It's newly taken over but maybe it would of been better to concentrate a little more on the rooms and updating them
- Alex (8/5): - Staff are lovely here and the annex room is perfect and beds are really comfy. Food is really nice here too Bar closes to early would be good to be open till around 10/11pm
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Mitchel (7/5): -
- Sally Bamford (8/5): Good spot - Lovely old pub with basic rooms in an external annexe. Good meals ans parking easy. Nice staff.l Nothing to complain about, it was a good one night stay
- Kevin (8/5): Great spot not far from Salisbury - Location to where I was working Nothing
- Tristan (9/5): -
- Hugues (7/5): - Location close to Salusbury and Stonehenge
- Jack (8/5): -
- sian (7/5): - Good location. Friendly staff. Although I didn’t eat there, the menu had lots to choose from. The bar staff did ask if I wanted any food, and I’m sure that they’d have made something if I wanted. It’s right next to a main road, however, the road was fairly quiet over night.
The fridge in the room is quite loud.
I could t get the shower to work, but at 05:30 I didn’t go to find someone to fix it either- property informed later.
- Brennan (9/5): - Staff are lovely and room is really clean The shower is very small, but then I ain't slim. The TV signal was not consistent but I would still stay here again great pub and food
- P (8/5): Good location and nice accommodation - We have stayed here before and would book again.
- Margaret (8/5): Good location, excellent Gluten Free menu, reasonably priced. - The staff on check in were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was nicely decorated and clean, there was tea/coffee making facilities. Check out the following day was simple. We had a meal in the restaurant, I was very impressed with the Gluten free menu and we had a lovely meal which was reasonably priced. The location of the property was ideal for our purpose. The rooms are located next to the outdoor seating for the pub, this wasn't an issue until we turned the TV off in our room and could hear people who were sat in the garden talking. I think they need to either put signs up to remind people that they need to be quiet after a certain time or ask people to move inside after a certain time. The other option would be to improve the sound proofing between the garden area and the rooms. The only other issue I had was that the WiFi did not work, when I mentioned this when we went to get food I was informed that they were having issues but hoped to get it working again soon. It briefly worked whilst we were in the pub but as soon as we went back to our room it stopped working. The process of trying to register to enable to log-in was slow and you had to provide your date of birth which would be much easier if you could type this information rather than having to scroll through a calendar to input this information, in the end I gave up trying as I kept getting an error message. The property also did not provide breakfast on site, which was disappointing, we ended up leaving earlier in the morning to drive somewhere else to stop for breakfast.
- robert (8/5): Lovely place to stay - Food and location Nothing
- Hilke (8/5): Nette kleine Unterkunft in ruhiger Lage -
- Eric WILDING (8/5): Best value hotel I could find for business in Salisbury - Car park near accommodation No breakfast
- Alison (9/5): -
- Duncan (7/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Very good budget accommodation for visiting Salisbury. - Ground level room at rear of hotel/pub. Our room was away from the light traffic on the connection road and had double glazing.
Good sized room and bathroom.
Good heating, easily controlled.
Wi-Fi excellent and staff very attentive to any requests or questions.
Restaurant on site had a good selection of pub food.
Plenty of off street parking available.
Bus stop directly outside for a 25 minute trip to or from Salisbury Nothing in the room to place travel bags on. Ended up putting them on the floor.
Refrigerator motor a bit noisy at night.
- Andrew (8/5): - Nice food great staff Nothing
- Hanson (8/5): -
- Smith (6/5): - Conveniently located on the A36.Spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities. Next to the river, so nice outdoor space albeit I arrived too late to use it. Comfortable good sized bed and lots of pillows.
Front of house staff friendly and welcoming. Room was a bit tired but serviceable. Check on kitchen closure times before you travel. I arrived at 8.15 and unfortunately the kitchen closed at 8pm.
- Tim (8/5): Good value.Excellent staff. -
- Philip (8/5): -
- Lee (10/5): -
- Andrew Barrow (9/5): Excellent value for money! - Welcoming staff. A clean, well-equipped room. Hot, powerful shower. Very comfortable bed. Very good value for money. Nothing.
- Don (8/5): Good spot to rest for the night. - Comfy bed, clean bedroom & evening meal available on site.
- Andrew (2/5): - Was terrible Small bed bad meal bad staff
- Ediza (10/5): -
- Chris (4/5): -
- Tim (7/5): -
- Patrizio (8/5): -
- ROBERTO (8/5): -
- Stephen (4/5): We weren't expecting much, and we didn't get it. - Towels and sheets were clean, staff were friendly and pleasant, evening meal in the pub was OK. We had 3 rooms, all were very tired and dated. Dirty carpets and showers. Tea, coffee and kettle in all rooms, but no milk in any of them, only one room had cups.
- NORMAN (6/5): -
- Wendy (8/5): Great for an overnight stay - Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Easy to park the car. Good value food available. No hand soap provided, not a major problem as we had our own toiletries. Also owners are new and are making improvements so this may change.
- Philip (8/5): Our second time staying here and stay again in September it's ideal for what we need for a stop over - Like the location and the staff are nice also food is good Rooms could be a little better ie modernised but perfectly clean and has all you need
- Helen (7/5): Comfy beds and awesome shower - It was easy to find and parking was not a hassle.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower pressure was the best I’ve come across Tv reception was hit and miss
- Jennifer (4/5): - Very tired decor, bathroom poor
- Stu (4/5): A bit disappointing - The staff were very friendly, helpful and probably the best thing about the stay. The bed and bedding were clean and fresh. Nice location, decent food. Nice big gardens and patio areas. The room felt grubby, way too many cobwebs for a room that should have been cleaned. The bathroom above the shower was dirty/mouldy. Possibly a mistake, but there was not one cup or glass in the room, but there was a kettle and coffee consumables? Was too late in the evening to contact someone when we realised. You could see a dust line around the edge of the carpet where the hoover didn't get to.
- Wilkinson (8/5): - very new owners but did a great job and looked after me,pub was great good food and not to expensive
- Stefano (4/5): - Parcheggio gratuito davanti all'hotel. Camere vecchie piene di ragnatele in quattro notti nessun cambio di asciugamano nessuna pulizia nessun sapone in camera. Letti matrimoniali troppo stretti.
- David (8/5): -
- Therese (10/5): - Schone ruime kamer, prima douche, vriendelijk personeel
