Guest Reviews
- Tracey (8/5): - Convenient place for all locations that we wanted to visit. Loud music Friday and Saturday night.but we where warned on arriving.
- Denise (9/5): -
- Angela (10/5): It was a really fantastic stay the staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble, this is more of a he - Everything
- Christopher (7/5): Great stay shame about unrespectable guests - Perfect Location bath was amazing. Other guests banging door through the night
- Craig (3/5): Needs a lot of improvements - The area was nice and breakfast and staff in morning where great The room was not clean was very dusty curtains has stains on them bathroom dust and cobwebs in corner of toilet then the disturbing part was there was a panel that would be easily accessible that had a fuse board and when seen inside the fuse board wasn’t even fixed on properly
The bed was comfy though just for what you pay is not worth it in my opinion and same as people who also stayed at same time as we was at a wedding
- Duncan (6/5): -
- Banks (4/5): Disappointing - not the relaxing break we needed - The staff are the best thing about this hotel! The noise - VERY loud music playing - sound system the bass level was deafening in our room - just above The Drinking Den so much you could feel the reverberations in our chest!
- Amanda (6/5): -
- Jack (9/5): -
- Vicky (9/5): Comfy basic accomodation near the
River - Despite being a little tired looking the accomodation was clean, comfortable and spacious. The shower was good and hot..The cheap breakfast was above average. There was entertainment on at the pub next door in the evening but it was far away enough for the effect of noise to be minimal..Great location and fairly priced lodging in order to explore Ironbridge Valley. Nothing much just a lack of biscuits on the drinks tray. Also be aware on Sunday many of the local eateries close early evening .S
o booking ahead or travelling out to surrounding villages should be taken into consideration.
- Michelle (7/5): Staff are good but hotel is tired and tatty - Good location, breakfast good value Rooms at first looked good but on closer inspection they are quite tatty. I was cold in bed as the quilt was very thin and pillows lumpy so I didn’t get much sleep..
- Ella (6/5): -
- Melissa (3/5): Very poor value for money downgraded but still expected to pay for a penthouse suite - Lovely area Booked a penthouse suite to enable to have 2 bedrooms plus living area but was downgraded on arrival to a normal room no pre warning and still have been charged for having a penthouse suite rather that a family room. Room had a screw sticking out of a drawer so was unsafe as was staying with a 2yr old, there were spiders webs everywhere and the shower was mouldy despite being told on arrival the room had just had a deep clean.
- Andrzej (1/5): All in all, the worst hotel stay for a very long time - Good location On arrival there was no hot water in the room. The dinner took very long time and, when it came, it was not the dish I ordered. This was replaced but my wife’s salad came drenched in dressing despite a clear request to omit the dressing due to allergies. Very loud live music directly below the room, no mention of this on Booking description. Hotel website stated that they do have live bands on Friday/Saturday nights, we stayed there on Sunday night. On top of this, hotel information states that Monday to Friday breakfast is served from 07.00, on Monday morning we were told that this is not the case on Bank Holiday Mondays.
- Hayley (6/5): Great location but noisy. - Location was perfect for dale end park and the centre of ironbridge
Kettle and tea/coffee facilities in room
Good sized room.
Breakfast food quality was good. No warning prior to check in that they have live music on a weekend until midnight right under the rooms.
Cobwebs in every room, bed was a bit rickety due to being a metal frame.
- Lauren (8/5): -
- newby (8/5): - The position of the hotel was excellent and the rooms and beds were comfortable. When we had breakfast at 8.45 the tea and coffee facilities were taken away without notifying us. Maybe guests should be advised before this happens in the future. We were booked into carpeted rooms and for some reason we were given a room with floorboards although when this was mentioned the room was changed.
- Helen (8/5): -
- Caroline (1/5): Yuck - The breakfast and the security dude Everything else.staff very rude.very loud music went on from when we arrived at 2pm till after midnight.could on get served in beer tent even tho restaurant bar was empty..the room was tiny and was meant to be superior suite. Car park was pay and display.was very dissapointed
- Jashan (10/5): -
- Norrie (10/5): Staff are just brilliant - Can’t
- Shaun (5/5): Interesting stay but wouldn’t return. - Staff didn’t seem too friendly on arrival but when we actually checked in the guy on the desk was Firstly, there is absolutely no parking at the Malthouse. However you could park in the sister hotel next door. Spaces are very limited though so it was always stressful when taking the car out and hoping a space would be available when you got back. Unfortunately the hotel wasn’t overly clean either, the public areas smelled of urine. Our room was well worn in places and we had cobwebs and plenty of dust.

- jackie (2/5): - The area was lovely. The town was clean, unlike the malt house. Lovely Micro bar with assorted ciders, chippy was good. Derby's 1779 tea room/ coffee house is lovely food and friendly staff. The malt house used up their parking outside their building for their guests to make room for more seating. Makes it inconvenient for guests, especially disabled. the area opposite outside the malt house on the road is only a 40-minute parking, no disabled spaces, or extended parking times. 8am till 6 pm, 40 mins is all you get. The rooms we booked were dirty and need a lot of maintenance. The room was damp, smelling musty and cold, dirty holes in the walls. Tv signal freezing / our other room sink was blocking water wouldn't go down shower dirty mould on the grouting around door. Floor in bathroom dirty and tiles undersink filthy behind doors cobwebs dirty. Lights not working bulbs missing from ceiling. It had not been cleaned ! I wiped a towel across the tiles on top it was black dust.
- Alasdair (3/5): Underwhelming - Location Not 4*. room was dated, tiny bed and the sound proofing didn't block out either the live music or other guests/staff. Great location and the pub was nice enough, just more 2/3 star than 4.
- Anne (8/5): Enjoyed it overall and convenient for my activities. - Left very early so did not have breakfast Drumming but did stpp. Steak in pie a little tough and could have done with more veg.
- Karen (5/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good. There was music playing loudly all afternoon and evening, even on a Monday. The room was cold and there was no soundproofing so we could hear the music and the guests next door.
- Janet (7/5): It is what is says on the tin in a beautiful area. - Location is perfect, staff lovely. No where to put things in the bathroom, no shelving etc. shower excellent. No comfy seat in the bedroom and the tv never worked properly and wants throwing out of the window.
- Langston (10/5): Had a great time, will stay again - Everything was perfect. Repeat customer
- Martyn (7/5): - Awwsome location. Very picturesque Wasn't aware until arrival of it being a love music venue. We were in a room above. Did finish at 12am. And settles down quickly
- Ewa (8/5): Short break - I like the location. I wish the room was cleaned better.
- John (6/5): Some bits were great but others need improving. - The food was lovely and the staff were great. I ate dinner there on my first night and the steak was fantastic. Probably the best I've had in a while. While the parking was a bit convoluted, there was plenty of it at their sister pub along the way. The bed was fairly comfortable and I couldn't really hear the live music in the bar below (the 'Attic' room is offset from the music venue). One of the shower heads was gross… I didn't use that one, but used the overhead shower. The grout needs a really good clean as well. A minor detail was the state of the shower door (the sealing strip really needs replacing as it's hanging off in places).
- Ben (9/5): -
- Mark (2/5): Unable to sleep due to disco and live music. - Breakfast was okay.
Location excellent however with no car park and expensive parking near by. Do NOT book this hotel. The room has NO sound proofing and the live music and disco runs to 2am.
You can not hear the TV in the room and the toilet seat vibrates with the noise.
Totally unacceptable. The establishment has no regard for the people staying in the rooms.
- Dave (7/5): - The flixibility and empowerment of staff. I had an issue with the loudness of the music (I needed to take a work call, and get up early next morning), and without hesitation, was relocated to an appropriate location for my 2 day stay. Much appreciated. Visitors should be aware the impact of it being a music venue at weekends
- Mcnally (10/5): - Everything warm welcome great facilities Nothing not to like
- gibbons (9/5): -
- Stacie (10/5): Fab location and great room with a beautiful view - Great location and lovely room , the shower was the only let down of the whole place Just the shower , there was no power at all and it was either freezing cold or absolutely boiling hot
- Sharon (5/5): - Room was pleasant but could of been cleaner Dust
- Ben (1/5): -
- Charlotte (9/5): A very warm welcome in a cosy, comfortable b&b - Lovely friendly staff, big rooms and yummy breakfasts
- Sebastian (9/5): -
- Carlie (6/5): Night time live music - Breakfast was nice. Size of the room was spacious. While the hotel has potential, my stay was unfortunately marred by several significant issues. The room felt a bit dated, particularly the bathroom, which is in need of a modern refresh. However, the primary concern was the noise levels. Because the room was located directly above the bar and lacked adequate soundproofing, I could hear everything from the hallway and the bar venue below.
To be fair, the hotel does mention live music, but "evening" is a bit of an understatement for a set that runs until midnight directly under your bed. The staff kept all doors open so it didn't contain the noise, and the lack of soundproofing meant I heard everything. I wish the late-night noise had been clearly disclosed before I paid and arrived, as I needed a restful night's sleep so I wouldn't have chosen to stay here.
- PAUL (7/5): I would definitely visit again but defimitely not with a LIVE band under my room. - Great location, decent room and comfortable bed, with great bar and hospitality. Breakfast is good...could be more. The only draw-back for me was the price charged for a LIVE band under your room, preventing you from sleeping till 1am.
- Karen (9/5): - So close to everything and the staff couldn't do enough to help. The loud music , I was told there was music but didn't know the rooms were right over the top of it and it finished at midnight ,were then informed summer time its on till 2am.
ONLY parking was at the sister pub and that was tiny.
- Christopher (8/5): -
- Marvaret (8/5): - The location by the Telford river and the iconic ironbridge spanning the river
.the building itseld, old historic and attractive.
The young friendly attentive staff. My room. Flapper Girls, could hear loud music on Saturday night. Did not keep me awake but it may bother some people.
Provide ear plugs?
- Taite (10/5): -
- Woolhouse (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed it - Everything More coffee/tea
- Georgia (8/5): -
- Brian (6/5): My fault I did not read their website in depth as our room was across the corridor from the exclusive private bathroom w - It’s location The live band went on after the specified time by the staff not enabling us to sleep quite frustrating after a long drive
- Tony (9/5): - would stay again staff were lovely
- Hazel (6/5): Property very convenient and good value, just disappointed with the cleanliness of bathroom - The staff were very helpful and pleasant, property close to the function I was attending I didn’t find the bathroom very clean, especially the sink and skirting boards very dusty
- AJ (1/5): Very poor staff poor lodgings - Location Staff
- Jackie (8/5): One night stay to see a band bed was very comfy and shower good , however room was very musty - Great band Room smelt musty
- donna (7/5): - It was very noisy at night didn't have much sleep
- Fern (1/5): - Location was perfect The room was absolutely disgusting! And freezing the staff was rude as hell and the room smelt like fish!
- Catherine (6/5): - Great location. Staff very attentive and friendly Cleanliness
- Stanaitis (7/5): -
- donna (2/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- Jessica (1/5): Terrible - The room The room was not as shown, it was dirty, small, smelt, stains on sheets and pillows, hole in wall, curtails stained, advertised in pub but was in our building.
We didn’t stay, found another hotel up the road
- Jon (8/5): -
- Jackie (6/5): Check the details before you stay. - The location, the room was lovely. The fact that there was no consideration for people with allergies, their attitude was dismissive and almost aggressive. It felt like asking a question about food or for a slight alteration to the menu was a just an issue for them. When in fact this could have caused major health issues. No information was given that the room was over a bar with live music. Which was incredibly loud. We may as well been in the bar rather than in bed. It was word perfect. This put a negative slant on our stay which is such a shame
- Joanna (1/5): Terrible - Location Dirty, staff unhelpful, very loud music until early hours, run down lacks any pride in its standards
- Angie (10/5): A great stay! - A very comfortable stay. The room was clean and well-equipped, very friendly staff and excellent food throughout the day, including breakfast. There was no parking, and restricted parking on the road (40mins in daytime) but a possibility of parking at the sister pub next door but one was an option. Failing that, a short stay car park fairly close by.
- Zak (10/5): 100% Reccomend - Loave this place! Stayed a few times now with my partner and cant complain about anything. The price is so worth it. Staff are always there to help with what ever you need and the food is to die for. Disclaimer: I knew this so it didnt effect me.
However it isnt as clear online that this place is a music venue and you WILL here the music loudly from your room. This being siad if thats not for you then dont book here but they have a sister pub a few doors down you can go instead. This didnt bother me and my partner though
- Rachel (7/5): -
- Lindsay (1/5): will not use this place again - nothing the room was too noisy it was right over the bar area where live music was played very loudly till midnight.
- Michael (8/5): Normally good rooms and not damp - Good location, the food was great, the staff always very nice and friendly The room that I had was cold and damp , should have been heating put on before we arrived
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Wesley (1/5): Worst place I’ve ever stayed. - Location excellent Beds falling apart, room damp and unclean.
- Tibbs (10/5): Amazing - Amazing staff great location nice clean room If your not staying up for entertainment it can be a little noisy
- Danielle (1/5): Maybe ask for a room near the back and not above the bar area - Very near to family The noise was so bad. Both nights we stayed the music from the bar was so loud it kept us awake
- Nicola (6/5): - Location In need of an update, room worn and dated, bathroom not the cleanest looking
- Antony (8/5): - Room was comfortable, heating was on, it was cold outside but room was warm (had to turn heating down but that wasn't an issue Reception staff on arrival quite rude when discussed parking like they couldn't be bothered. Staff at breakfast in morning more helpful/smiley
- Cole-Chadburn (2/5): Restful and relaxing NO - The location is beautiful over looking the river. The rooms have everything you need ie hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Reception staff, very abrupt.
Our room was freezing on entering, no heating on the room. The hallway was lovely and warm. Asked at reception and was told it was the room hadn't been used for a while. Was then moved to another room which did eventually get warm.
Eat at the restaurant the food was ok.
Attached the hotel is a cocktail bar which had live music playing. Which was situated below our room . So our nice relaxing was ruined by this . I think this should be disclosed. So we had very little sleep. Bed was comfy. Hair in shower.
- Doug (7/5): A basic hotel with wonderful staff and a smashing location - Good friendly staff dinner was excellent the room was worm and clean Breakfast was poor very cheep toilet paper (disappointing) room was not made up in the morning
- Poppy (8/5): - Room was nice
Bed very comfy Walls are thin and got woken up by woman on her phone early
- David (8/5): -
- Susan (6/5): Not bad I only slept there i wouldn’t stay there again - Br Breakfast was not included which I wasn’t happy about there was a glass door in my room which was very dirty it was covered up with a curtain.
- Huw (9/5): - Food was excellent
- Sylvia (10/5): Comfortable energy and a quiet stay. - The staff were very friendly and the dinner was brilliant. They served in good time and seemed comfortable in their job, which is always a good sign. The room we stayed in was clean and neat, not too spacious, but we only needed it for one night, so it wasn't an issue.
- Maureen (7/5): Pub been local plenty of rest there - Breakfast was ace bed fine .find cob webbs behind small bedside table 🫣 staff was very good very polite. One lady help my Partner show were to park car for free😁 Expect at the top
- mark (10/5): -
- joy (7/5): - right hand side of the bed had a squeak, but was the side that had the socket to plug the computer in....password for wi-fi was wrong, so had to go and find someone to sort it.....glass blocks were a nice feature, but a night a lot of light came through.... messaged them to say i was coeliac so was not happy there was no gf sausage or toast for my breakfast.
- Marianna (8/5): We had a lovely time - N/A Somewhere to put towels and our toiletries in the bathroom
- Jane (9/5): Comfortable and lovely food - Very comfortable bed. Great shower. Food excellent. Convenient for a day in Telford. Parking is a bit of an issue here but managed to get a space in the sister pub car park this time.
- Marc (10/5): -
- Ashley (8/5): -
- Natalie (6/5): - Nice location. Lovely outlook and staff pleasant Rooms was not cleaned very good lots of cobwebs all around the ceiling and room very cold! Door to the room was not the best secured and hard to lock & unlock
- Graeme (6/5): - Staff were pleasant and food was nice. The music was laud at night and unfortunately my room was directly above the groups stage.
The window catch was broken and the window could not be secured properly.
Also tea and coffee not replenished daily, maybe ot was because I was there over Xmas.
- Sam (2/5): - Room was a decent size. This was our second stay and we were aware that there was live music. However after the live music finished (around 11pm) there was a DJ which was even louder and as we were above the pub toilets there was a constant slamming of doors and shrieking. I think we should have been put in a room further from the noise - the room we were in was not suitable for people just looking to sleep! Very disappointing as our first stay was excellent and we visit the area regularly to see family.
- Andrew (6/5): The stay went ok but I wouldn’t recommend to other people until improvement’s were made - Location and entertainment The rooms were cold on arrival
One of the radiators didn’t work
- Kevin (9/5): A great location with clean comfortable accommodation at a great price. - Location No on site secure parking
- Andrew (9/5): Fantastic stay yet again only place I will consider in Ironbridge - Excellent location great staff lovely accommodation Tv didn’t work properly
- Beck (6/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): Lovely food great atmosphere, comfortable bed definitely recommend.. - Friendly atmosphere Nothing everything was above and beyond
