Guest Reviews
- maddie (7/5): overall good stay and clean, noisy at night though outside - comfy beds, good space and a tv- the showers were clean the windows were not strong so you could hear every little thing outside, as i’m a light sleeper i didn’t sleep
- Carvalho (8/5): -
- Smith (10/5): Location was great and the place was really convenient to use while we where visiting the area. - Location was perfect 👌 lots of close pubs, clubs, shops and restaurants
The staff we met including the young man at front desk and a cleaning lady were very friendly.
Our key was waiting at front desk and easy to hand in the key when done a convenient key box for returns. Dont believe all the negative comments. The room was a little small but we managed.
There was a slight unpleasant smell of somthing burning or cooking. But opening the window and some spray it was fine.
This is more like a hostel but having a secure room with a key was convenient and reassuring. I

- Aga (10/5): Awesome winter spot! - It’s have been there few times by now. And it’s always kindness of the staff that makes me come back. It was very clean and quiet and nearly on the beach ! What else could you ask? Nothing
- Vanessa (8/5): Great stay. - Good size room and bathroom, lovely staff, lovely room mate Nothing it was what was to be expected for hostel style accommodation. But I would bring my own pillow next time.
- Lee (9/5): - Great access to the beach right around the corner. Room had a window and bedding was comfortable. They had long curtains and chair plus hangers and side table. Good value and very easy to get to. Easy access to all the buses.
- Rachel (6/5): -
- Matthew (7/5): Good for a quick trip. - Location is amazing and you are right by everything. Very easy to walk to the beach or breakfast in the morning. Bathrooms were pretty dirty and they demand you give them $20 in Australian cash for your room key. Which I do not receive back.
- Nompumelelo (8/5): - The location and proximity.ity to the beach and major public transport networks was excellect Breakfast can be improved upon. Merely offering bread with butter and jam as well as cereal is not good enough. Can. Include a protein even if it is a boiled egg and peanut butter plus fruit for breakfas
- Stacey (10/5): Loved it! Had a blast! - The staff and guests were all really friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were kept clean. The location is perfect, so close to everything. Nothing.
- Soraya (9/5): -
- mariam (7/5): - great location reception lady was a bit grim in attitude and didnt want to give a tour
- Laing (7/5): - Location is superb, such a quick walk to the beach. We stayed in a double room and found it very comfy. Whilst it was nice that breakfast was included, the serving space was too small for so many people, and for so short a period of time. I would suggest putting breakfast in the sitting room instead.
The exterior looked very cute and pretty, but the inside could definitely do with a lick of paint.
Similarly, some of the plumbing needs updating, with some taps always on, some never on.
Finally, getting to the bathrooms could be difficult, so it again felt they cram too many people in with not enough facilities.
Overall, nothing worth crying about, the location is fantastic and we had a good stay, but a few little updates would make it feel like better value for money.

- Sofia (3/5): - Det var bra läge Smutsigt, fuktigt och skränigt
- Alison (5/5): - The location and free breakfast. Other guests were friendly. Didn't see any staff at all during my stay which made me feel apprehensive about security. Room very hot and small. Found out when I was there that alcohol was not permitted on site which I have never encountered in any other stay elsewhere. It should have been advertised on booking.com so I knew in advance. I may not have chosen to book this place. There was a curfew of 8pm on the balcony near the bbq which was a bit early I thought as most people don't go to bed at that time. Overall a lot of restrictions which I thought were a bit heavy handed. Broken tap in first floor bathroom and another one dripping.

- Marielle (3/5): vervelende sfeer - locatie vlakbij restaurants, bar, strand. Prima! De gastvrijheid. Leeftijdsdiscriminatie.

- Kiikz (9/5): It was good enough. I’d stay again - Location. Clean. Kitchen open all the time as well as common area (except smoking balcony). Too quiet. Almost eerie.

- taiyo (10/5): Great stay - They were so flexible and so welcoming. I had a bad luck with my original booking with the other hotel (they spilt chemical in the room and I couldn’t stay) and I booked here last minute. They made my day being accomodating and ready within a minute.
- Philippe (10/5): -
- Sabrina (8/5): -
- David (7/5): Very good - Great free breakfast and great location The sinks weren’t great in bathrooms
- Bianca (7/5): -
- Petronilo (10/5): Nice - Nice None
- John (6/5): - Not a lot
- Gustavo (9/5): -
- Tim (6/5): -
- Hayley (10/5): Amazing! Would book again - Super friendly hostel vibes. there’s a communal kitchen and living room. Easy to make friends, many shared bathrooms so we never felt like we were waiting if the one closest to our room was occupied. Great location! Right by the beach and the Main Street in coogee with all the restaurants and bars as well as very close to the start of the trail to walk to Bondi n/a
- Jack (7/5): It was very nice overall, great location - Location and how amazing the staff were Little to no cell service in the rooms
- ciara (1/5): - Nothing Dirty
Type of people staying there
- stuart (1/5): Didn’t stay, - Nothing
Wasn’t aloud to stay even though I showed my receipt Everything night manger was so rude, and wouldn’t let me in. Had to book another hotel for the night.
- Gordon (6/5): - Close to the beach Noisy at night (Outside air conditioning units)
- Vincent Markus (8/5): - Große Küche, viele nette Leute, die super Lage
- Shannon (7/5): -
- Ann-Sofie (10/5): -
- Marcio (10/5): -
- marcin (8/5): - The cleanest backpacker in Australia, I have ever been. Staff is really friendly, place is cleaned every day which is above the Australian standard
- Sobash Dishantha (10/5): - Helpful and friendly staff, the owner has upgraded me in to my own room.thank you
- Jules (10/5): Très bon rapport qualité/prix, très propre, je recommande - Very clean accomodation
- de Vita Uliana (10/5): -
- Ayanna (8/5): -
- Dimmitt (7/5): -
- Caroline (5/5): - Location Noisy, bare minimum.
- Jenny (7/5): Suited my needs - Price was the point we were most interested in. It's a backpackers so wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton type experience.
The free WiFi was a great idea, but I kept forgetting to check password in reception before going up to my room. So if it was posted upstairs as well that would be great. Bathroom floors always wet and slippery. A wooden/rubber mat would be better.
People who didn't drop toilet paper on wet floors and not pick it up would also be better.
Next time I'll remember to bring my own floor mat.
- Jenny (7/5): -
- Sofie (8/5): Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt - Mehrere Einzelne Badezimmer (Privatsphäre) Ein paar Sachen in den Bädern waren bereits heruntergekommen
- Kumi (5/5): Passable beach front hostel. - Right by the beach and supermarkets. Staff were very nice and helpful. Storage available for before and after check outs which was handy. Generally dirty throughout. Bathrooms were disgustingly. Kitchen was very small and not very equipped. Supposed to have free bike rental but no bikes. I booked here for the bikes to go cycling so it was very disappointing.
- Stuart (6/5): -
- Paygeen (6/5): - Great location.. value for money.. staff were crackup!
- soler (1/5): -
- Ke (8/5): great - Quiet and relaxing Too few toilets
- Jono (8/5): Very good -
- Jono (8/5): Very good - Close to beach and shops
- Gakyeong (10/5): Highly recommend - Staff were very friendly and in a good location in Coogee Nothing
- Tuba (2/5): Very poor - They might offer to arrange accommodation directly, but I’d really suggest booking through proper websites. They keep changing their words just to squeeze out a few extra dollars, and honestly, nothing they say seems to stay consistent.
The room they showed me had freshly taken-off underwear all over the floor, I couldn’t even make it to the bed. I told them this was unacceptable, and the night manager just shrugged and said, “Well, that’s what a hostel is”🤦♀️. He only offered me another room after I took a photo to prove I literally couldn’t step inside. The second room wasn’t much better either, an elderly lady was snoring all night.
Also, the bathroom window was broken, not the most private setup, especially with the unit directly facing it.
So yeah…I’d say avoid it unless you really have no other option.
- Lucy (7/5): Interesting stay for open minded travellers - Proximity to beach and kitchen and lounge area with clean, comfortable beds Tired walls and decoration.
- Tuba (5/5): Passable -
- Agnes (7/5): Good value for money. - It was almost on the beach.
Reasonably clean and quiet.
Definitely good place to crash.
- David (7/5): Good - Good kitchen facilities available. TV in the room did not work at all. Tv in the lounge area did work but the screen was badly damaged.
- Christian (8/5): Very good -
- Tuba (8/5): Very good -
- Russell (8/5): Very good -

- Liz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Willoughby (9/5): Superb -
- Willoughby (9/5): Superb -
- Bradley (6/5): Pleasant -
- Goulet (8/5): Very good - Every bathroom had a leaky faucet but other than that it was enjoyable. I will likely stay there again.
- Taylor (8/5): Very good -
- Mario (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (3/5): Poor -
- Altman (2/5): Very poor -
- Aoife (8/5): Super location! - Rooms were very comfortable. Location was excellent! Room was a little noisy when shower was on in the bathroom beside us.
- Michele (6/5): Light and power by bed should be minimum requirement - Great location, nice big common room Needs maintenance/updating
- Zoi (5/5): Mediocre - Very close to the beach. Breakfast was sad, same empty jam jars every day. Mattress was horrible. Room was too small for 4 people, 2 of which actually live there longterm. House rules were ignored by many residents, especially one roommate who actually also works in the hostel, lol. Entering the room at 2:30 am drunk, screaming, turning on the lights and bringing people over to hang out while the 3 other roommates sleep is not cool Billie!
- Frank (5/5): I stayed the nite ,I had a triogolgy Concert at Selina,s Coggee Bay - mis communication on my booking of a private room, i ended up in a dorm. The Girl on the day in the office was very apologetic on making booking error,so i had a shared room with 4 of us at no cost.I was Happy.
- Chan (7/5): Good -
- Goulet (8/5): Super enjoyable, I've even extended my stay. - Good location, quiet, good price. Kind of dirty at times but they keep up with the cleaning.
- Clorinda (8/5): Very good -
- Veronica (8/5): - Our entire stay at Coogee Beach House was great. The hostel is very close to the beach and the bus stops. The hostel is cleaned daily, though it’s really hard to control if some of the other guests are not tidy and considerate.
My fiancé and I stayed in a shared room. The bed was comfortable. I would just suggest that the management separate guests who are purely tourists from those who are staying long-term to make the stay more comfortable. I’ve observed this in other hostels as well, when there are long-term guests, it feels like they take over the whole room as if they own the place. I understand that some are on working holiday visas, but there are guests who are on pure holiday and just visiting.
We also had a safety concern about the hostel. We noticed that the main door wasn’t being locked at night. We discovered that the woman we saw entering at night was homeless and had been seemingly entering the building without restriction for months. We don't know whether the night duty manager is aware of it. So what’s the point of the key the doors aren’t even locked? And we had to pay for $20 key deposit. Although, the hotel manager and the staff addressed this issue immediately. The night manager on duty maybe needs to improve in terms of safety and handling guests’ concerns at night.
Nevertheless, we commend the hostel manager, Daniel and for taking action and addressing our concerns. This is not just for us but for future guests as well, and for his business.
- Angela (8/5): Great location , everything you need - Excellent location and very friendly staff and clients . Well ordered and organised A bit tired in places
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Svetlana (6/5): Pleasant - Location is great - It seems there are many people staying long term in the dorm rooms, so the small room is messy and full of personal stuff like cosmetics, cloths, shoes lying around. No space to put your bag.
- No bed light.
- Hairdryer noise in the dorm room at 7AM was unpleasant.
- Farts attack in the morning in the female dorm room was also unpleasant, considering that the window was closed and the room is just 11 sq m.
- Regina (8/5): Very good - everything was clean and pleasant TV in my room didnt work much
- Conor (9/5): Superb -
