Guest Reviews
- Erwin (10/5): simple perfect and would highly recommend to everyone. Great place to stay! - We stayed with our family at the reservoir. Which was amazing. Extreme hostmenship by all staff. Mr Damitha, the resident manager did everything he could to accommodate us. Late breakfast after a safari was key for him to fix for us. Nothing was asked to much. Nothing, all was simple perfect. The Gym was a bit hot and not elevators in the building, but they will fix that in future.

- MarieL687 (10/5): Warm Hospitality and a Peaceful Lakeside Stay - We had a wonderful stay at Centuria Wild in Sri Lanka. The accommodation has a traditional, slightly older charm, which really adds to the authentic experience of being surrounded by nature.
What truly made our stay stand out was the exceptional service. The staff, and especially the manager Damitha, treated us with genuine courtesy and respect, consistently going above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable.
Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the lake, which made for a peaceful and relaxing setting. Although we didn’t get a chance to use the pool due to returning late from our safari, it looked pleasant and inviting. We were also impressed with the gym facilities—the space was generous, with more than enough equipment to enjoy a proper workout.
Overall, a memorable stay with warm hospitality that really made a difference.
- Karl (10/5): Excellent attention to detail from the manager made this stay stress-free. - The manager, Damitha, was warm and welcoming and went out of his way to ensure our stay was everything we needed it to be. We appreciated his attention to detail.
- Janine (10/5): A must stay for the Udawalawe National park. - We treated ourselves to a room with a view over the lake in Udawalawe National Park. The room was huge, the view from the verandah was so good we saw deer, wart hogs and yes an elephant having a bath. You do need binoculars to see really well. Damitha the manager was great and I pre organised our safari with him over booking.com messages. Brilliant and even a packed lunch as we missed breakfast with the early start. There is a rooftop that even if you have a garden view room you can go up to anytime and see the lake and most spectacular sunsets ever. Damitha’s team of staff were amazing and the restaurant with local and western delights was great. We cooled off in their lovely pool ever afternoon. You could tuk tuk to town but seriously this is all about nature and they had it all by having a hotel with a view. Having to leave lol
- Matt (8/5): Staff very attentive.congratulations to manager Damietta you made the effort to personally welcome us His team a very c - Set in a nice location, very clean with a relaxing atmosphere
- 197harshab (10/5): A charming hotel in a lovely setting. - A lovely stay at this lovely hotel. Old style charm and wonderful srilankan hospitality. Immaculately clean with huge bedrooms and shower. Such friendly, polite and accommodating staff. Lovely menu with local and international food and nothing was too much of an ask in accommodating our palette and requests. Amazing service! Gorgeous grounds and gardens with amazing views to the lake and mountains beyond with beautiful birds and butterlies. A fabulous pool and slide for an excited child! A small hotel wiith tradition and authentic srilankan culture. Please visit them and experience with peace and tranquility and all the lovely things offered. Its not modern but thats thr charm for us. Ideal base for our safari only 5 mins away. So many members of staff and managers to mention who work round the clock. Highly recommend.
- 9robiny (8/5): Pleasant, and not wild - After a long train/car journey from Nuwara Eliya we had an enjoyable afternoon safari at Udawalawe, before checking in to this picturesque hotel nestled off the main road, among verdant trees. Monkeys were in them, as were chipmunks and birds (unluckily no elephants). The room had a pleasant view of the reservoir, and birdsong was plentiful. Staff were friendly, but Wifi is patchy except if at the reception.
- Craig (10/5): Great spot to relax after safari. Safe. Clean. - View of park Felt a bit understaffed at the pool but understandable given the global financial situation and cancellations.
- Denise (10/5): -
- PHILIPPE (7/5): Bien. Bon accueil.
- Michael (9/5): An enjoyable trip to Uda Walawe - All of the staff were very helpful and friendly.
- GastronoT89 (10/5): Simply the best, thank you! - Centauria Wild is undoubtedly one of the best stays we had whilst in Sri Lanka. In fact, the hospitality we experienced from the staff at the hotel, wonderfully led by Damitha, was probably one of the best of my life (and I’ve visited 35 countries and counting!).
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by front of house and provided with some much needed refreshments after what had been an incredibly long journey from Galle. The view from our room was indescribable, absolutely breathtaking - a panoramic view of the Udawalawe reservoir and the surrounding park. I honestly haven’t seen anything like it and nothing comes close to the feeling of sitting on the balcony and watching the sunset over a view like that.
The staff around the hotel are incredibly warm and friendly, always smiling and checking in on how you are, which I thought was lovely. We bumped into Damitha in the evening of our first day and he showed genuine concern for how we’d get home given the Middle East crisis, reflecting how much time and effort he puts into knowing his customers and building true connection with them.
I’d booked a safari for my mum’s 65th birthday and had asked that something be organised to commemorate the day. Not only had they beautifully arranged the bed in advance of our arrival, they outdid themselves on her actual birthday in ways beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Damitha went out of his way to make sure that breakfast was still available for us although we arrived back late from the safari and we had the most wonderfully delicious breakfast spread (thank you to the kitchen team too!). Little did we know that this would be followed by a birthday cake celebration that outdid anything I could have expected, not only did they sing happy birthday to my mum as they brought out the elaborate cake on a trolly to some background music with a candle for her to blow out. It all felt incredibly special and showed a level of care and consideration I was truly grateful for.
My mum and I were absolutely blown away by the immaculate service we received throughout. The team paid attention to small details like helping us arrange tuktuk drivers when we couldn’t get them on PickMe, giving us suggestions of where to visit and how to get there, taking photos of us to help us remember special moments and we even got a touching note from Damitha as we left. I am so grateful to the team for all their hard work and would go there again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a hotel in Udawalawe, look no further than Centauria Wild - their service is second to none, you will be thoroughly cared for and I truly hope to go back there someday. Thank you Damitha and thank you to the CW team (special shoutout to Asanka, Imesha, Poora, Soratha and Chirath)! We’ve got memories to last a lifetime
- Emma (8/5): Good for what we needed, nice pool and big spacious room. - Ideal location for safari trips, big rooms and ours had a view of the lake! Property buffet dinner was a little basic. It lacked any type of ‘vibe’ but most people are passing through for just 1 - 2 nights
- X804LWrolands (10/5): Good experience - Very comfortable hotel with good views and food . Convenient for safaris and the Elephant Transit Home.
- LOUIS (10/5): - Emplacement vue lac confort
Personnel sympathize
Et particulièrement le Dircteur Damitha RAS
- sarachandrah (10/5): Highly Recommended – Comfort, Taste & Hospitality - Had a wonderful experience! The food was incredibly tasty, and the excellent welcome made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The calm and relaxing environment added to the charm of the place. The rooms were perfectly arranged and very comfortable, making the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, comfort, and a pleasant atmosphere.
- Nicole (10/5): Great service. Amazing food. Lovely people. Splendid all round. - Beautiful, clean and amazing poolside views. All our needs were accommodated for and the staff were very attentive. Highly recommend. I would stay here again
- Simone (9/5): Great hotel would highly recommend - Right in the heart of the national park. Staff was so lovely Pool bar wasn’t open especially late afternoon when the pool area busy.
- Wendy (8/5): Excellent location, helpful staff and good food - Very clean hotel with very helpful staff and the food is good. View from our room was beautiful. It would be nice to have an outside bar, especially on the rooftop which seems under utilised. The pool bar was very noisy and not a place for relaxing!
- Michael (8/5): Comfortable 1 night stay after safari before moving on - Spacious and clean, staff helpful and courteous Breakfast wasn’t great, hotel gives the impression of a place which has lots of coach groups passing through where food standards don’t really matter too much. Quite a rambling disjointed layout. Location a bit remote, we got a Tuk Tuk into Udawalawe to visit the elephant transit home which was worth it, returned to the town later to eat as didn’t fancy the hotel food
- Julie (8/5): Very good value for - The staff and the manager was so attentive Dining room
Food very good
Atmosphere was very bright get some dimmers
- aneeshan2019 (10/5): Beautiful hotel with spectacular nature views - We were greeted warmly with fresh drinks in the beautiful open air lobby. The hotel is situated only 10 minutes from the Udawalawe Game Reserve. The rooms are large, modern and have a classy colonial decor. The hotel grounds are lush and tropical with a fantastic pool and stunning rooftop views where you can see the lake and elephants and other wildlife in the distance. We were very impressed by Damitha, the resident hotel manager, who came over to greet us while we were dining and took special pride in making sure our stay was perfect. We wanted to stay longer at this lovely place but hope to be back in the near future. We would highly recommend a stay at this gorgeous paradise retreat.
- DianneW257 (10/5): Really lovely place to stay. - Wonderful Hotel. Can't think of anything negative to say, Rooms comfortable, bed comfy, shower great. Staff helpful, food nice. Location great.
Veldig bra basseng. Enkelt treningsrom. Vi var ikke så fornøyde med middagen.
- malcolm (9/5): Perfect stop got the national park safari - Cleanliness and staff Restaurant lacks atmosphere
- Menu1024 (8/5): Beautiful hotel in Udawalawa - Clean, large and spacious room with bathroom.
Large swimming pool with a slide.
Hotel staff is helpful and friendly.
Only negative experience in meals. Meals were not yummy.
- Christiane Weinholt (8/5): - Det lå godt til Udawalawa National park.
Store værelser
Dejligt pool
- Kimia (10/5): - Everything was very good. Service was good and breakfast exceeded our expectations but biggest bonus is that we saw an elephant, buffalos, deer, peacocks, eagles and many other animals while we were standing by the swimmingpool at the hotel.
- Angela (9/5): -
- Gertrud (10/5): - Saknade hiss
- D2168UUdaniels (10/5): Warm staff, spectacular views - We had a wonderful time at Centauria Wild. The rooftop view was spectacular, where we enjoyed the sunsetting over the mountains and the animals feeding around the lake. The staff were warm and friendly, and we were even included in the manger’s birthday celebration- thanks Damitha!
The room was oversized and clean
Highly recommended
- Jessie (8/5): We had one night here after deciding to go to Udawalawe National park instead of Yala as we heard Yala was too busy. We - Lovely hotel, clean, well maintained grounds and great staff. Stunning rooftop views, perfect spot for an evening drink. Nothing
- Mark (5/5): Nice to see the animals on safari and the Hungry Monkey in the village was fantastic - The front of house Staff. No atmosphere bit like a boot camp.
- Susanne (8/5): - Bra läge nära parken och mycket bra poolområde.
Möjlighet till frukostpaket vid tidig avfärd.
Stora lyxiga rum.
- Kylie (9/5): - The hotel is very close to the park entrance and has wonderful views across the lake and surrounds. There are good buffets for breakfast and dinner. The manager and other staff were very caring when I needed to visit a doctor. It was reassuring to know they were there to help. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. A great place to stay if visiting the national park.
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent service and location with helpful staff. - Loved the access to the national park and ease of tours. The food could’ve been a bit better.
- Abdulla (7/5): - Room size very good additional bed not comfortable at all. Very limited food option for dinner and breakfast
- Isabella (8/5): - Good location to safari. And nice big rooms. I’m usually not a fan of buffet, but the food was good.
There is a beautiful rooftop and I don’t understand why the hotel doesn’t make a bar or something up there, as it is the perfect place to end the day. We ordered lunch a la carte one day and waited 45 minutes on the food, which I think is a very long time.
There are a lot of small mosquitos since you are close to the jungle.
- U5747LLalexb (10/5): Beautiful lake side view - At one with nature. - We had a short but enjoyable stay at the Centauria Wild Resort and had a wonderful lakeside view. The hotel is ideally positioned for Jeep Safari in Udawalawe National Park and to visit the Elephant Transit home.
We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast which offered lots of choices. The Service was excellent. Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A Special mention to our cheerful barman Lalitha who served our drinks and the hotel manager Damitha who sorted out a late checkout for us.
- Alison (9/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable stay , excellent location. - Room was very spacious, clean and quite , bed was real comfy. a large walk in shower with plenty of hot water . We very much enjoyed the lakeside view , and hearing the sounds of nature on our large balcony .
Breakfast was very enjoyable , with plenty of choice at the buffet. The Service was very good nothing
- Sanosha (7/5): We enjoyed the hotel facilities: the pool was great. The hotel is also ideally located as it is very close to the nation - The location, the breakfast as well as the pool facility were great. The dinner buffet lacked a bit of love, meaning there were not much Sri Lankan curries (only aubergine and dahl served on both nights) and we found bugs in our plates. The room was also not very clean: it was very dusty under the beds.
- Ville (9/5): - The hotel has fabulous facilities and was able to provide safari. The pool area is also relaxing. Food lacks consistancy. It would be major imptovement if there would be mention of the allergenes in the food
- marina (5/5): It was nice but the lunch and dinner buffets dissapointed, the massage was really good - Calm -
- Angus (9/5): Brilliant stay with excellent family room and kids absolutely loved it - Swimming pool was great for the kids
Safari the next morning was right next door and we strongly suggest you book the 5.45am as by 6am the queue to get in the car park was massive
The buffet supper and breakfasts were great Not much wrong
- Ronald Blikman (7/5): -
- Stefan (7/5): -
- Ray (8/5): Perfectly fine stop for the Safari! - Nice swimming pool, good food! Timings for dinner weren’t so helpful for us (though they did do a la carte) but the buffet was actually excellent- with a baby, and also with the morning safari- some consideration maybe to provide a small breakfast would be accommodating given the nature of Udawalawe.
- Venture23955717538 (10/5): Lovely stay - An amazing trip, the manager and staff are so helpful and want you to have the best time. Great Sri Lankan food. Very close to the entrance to the national park so a must visit if you want to see the elephants, which the hotel team can arrange for you! the rooms were good and spacious, we are so glad we upgraded to a lake view room as it is a stunning view. We made use of the pool and the happy hour! We would definitely return. A tip for the manager - get on social media so you can spread the word of this beautiful hotel.
- Alanah (10/5): Highly recommend - Great family hotel. Kids loved the pool especially the slide!
Central and beautiful views from our balcony. We were a family of 6 and had 2 interconnecting rooms it was so easy, spacious and nice four us all to be together.
- Sheetal (8/5): Very comfortable great pool for the kids and good location for safari! - Rooms massive and comfortable staff helpful and excellent proximity to the national park.
They gave us a good breakfast package for our safari with ample food. Food at the buffet is not great from what we were told so we ate elsewhere and cannot comment
- Zaza Md Taat (6/5): Short stay at Centauria. Recommended for fams! - Spacious hotel rooms, suitable for families. For a famly of 4 w 2 adults & 2 young kids, we got a room here + 1 additional mattress. Clean with AC. Service staff like Lalitha & Ankara were helpful, same goes for the manager Sarath. Food needs improvement- coffee is not gd, bread is abit hard & Sri Lankan rice was hard , though curry was gd..price did not reflect quality. The food was a disappointment & this affects the entire hotel as a whole.
- Ryan (9/5): -
- TAMAN1951 (6/5): Nice - Stopped after a safari for a quick bite.
The buffet was OK but not very tasty. I only liked the fried fish and chicken soup.
Some nice fresh fruit.
Rest was blah.
- Sivanmesh (8/5): The best massage in Sri Lanka - I visited Centauria Wild Resort with an Israeli group, and I experienced wonderful treatment from the staff at the hotel and in the spa.
I especially enjoyed the amazing massage SEETHA gave me. She took care of me with all her heart, dedication and professionalism. She has hands and a heart of gold - I highly recommend this hotel and especially her as a masseuse. Thank you very much 🙏
- Fiona (8/5): Friendly staff, great rooms, delicious food and drinks and great location for safari. - Location was excellent, really close to safari parks! Pool was great for adults and kids. Food was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Danielle (9/5): Nice one night stay, good food and welcoming staff - The hotel buffet offered a diverse selection of dishes, with something to suit every taste. The quality of the food was excellent, fresh, and well prepared. Service was good throughout, and the staff were especially friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Clean, large rooms.
- Nir (10/5): A great place! - Best facilities and service!! Nothing
- Bec (7/5): -
- Pavitra (10/5): A very pleasant stay . - Love the hospitality from the staff .The resident manager Damitha was very welcoming , the kids loved the stay and buffet was good .We had a good rest after Uduwalawe Safari.
- O8507DSsarahr (10/5): Amazing location, amenities and staff! - I stayed at Centauria Wild as it is the perfect location to reach the park for a safari. I was greeted with a warm welcome and the staff helped me get to the Elephant Transit Center in time for feeding. They arranged a tuk-tuk at the very last minute and off I went. They also arranged a solo safari experience (which I highly recommend). The room was beautiful with a lake view! The manager, Damitha, went out of his way to ensure I was catered to (as a vegetarian and solo traveller). He even ensured that there was breakfast for me when I got back from safari. The buffet typically closes at 9:30am, but you don't get back from safari until around 9:30. I was given an extended check out and a handwritten thank you card! All of this care and attention was given while they were also hosting 2000 guests from a cruise ship!
I would stay here again in a heartbeat and thank all of the staff for their hospitality!
- George (8/5): Very nice, large, clean hotel for stays when visiting the national park. - Centauria Wild is a large, clean and well located hotel for visits to the Udawalawe National Park. My wife and I had a lovely massage the evening we arrived and then went out for the safari the day after and came back to the hotel to relax. We would recommend for those looking to visit the National Park for safari. Not many vegan only options, none for dessert besides fruit.
- Cheryl (10/5): Great amenities, breakfast, and dinner! - A little oasis in the jungle! My kid loved the pool, the room amenities were great, and it is a stone’s throw away from the national park! Loved it! Great pool. Friendly staff!
- B2958XUlaurag (6/5): Basic lodge close to safari - Quite basic, perfectly fine for a passing visit whilst doing a safari in Udawalawe. Would we want to return - probably not.
Pros - we had a huge room with a big shower, staff were helpful, room was clean
Cons - cold food, big dining room with no atmosphere, very dated, uncomfortable bed
- Arrsha (10/5): Fab location and excellent staff! - The location is great - very close to Udawalawe NP and you can sometimes see elephants from the road. The rooms and bathroom were a good size, had everything we needed and clean. The staff were fantastic; everyone was super friendly and helpful.
The best accommodation we’ve stayed in during our entire stay in Sri Lanka!!
- GABRIELLA FRANCESCA (10/5): Comfy - Staff were great. Very helpful and they took us in after a terrible night at a nearby hotel. It was a bit out of our budget but the standard was very high. We were very happy. No complaints
- Leigh (10/5): Scenic, friendly hotel - We enjoyed the pool facility, the buffet dinner and breakfast we both delicious so much choice and quality freshly cooked. The staff are all friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful. The scenery is unbelievable, sunset from the roof or pool deck is just amazing. A short tuk tuk ride into town for a change of scenery and fun bars. We didn’t do a safari as had done so many along our travels but the safari park is close to the hotel so a great option. Nothing honestly a lovely place to spend time with our family between Ella and Galle.
- H1227SYcaroliner (8/5): Large hotel, lacked atmosphere, but good location. - Useful location for overnight stay for national park elephant safari. But there are no lifts here so the poor staff have to carry our large bags along corridors and up two flights of stairs. It only opened in 2018 but it feels a lot older.
Has the usual warm welcome and attentive staff. Compared to other 4 and 5 star hotels we stayed at on our tour of Sri Lanka this one lacked atmosphere and felt empty. There were two coach parties in the enormous dining hall but still less than half of it was occupied. It had very high ceilings and felt like a school dining hall and was very echoy as had no soft furnishings to dampen the noise. The buffets were average - not the best we had experienced on the island. Had plenty of pleasant staff on hand.
The bar near the restaurant was empty while we were there and is dated, lacking any atmosphere. They had just opened a small bar next to the swimming pool but this closed at 9pm. The pool was nice but the black vinyl sunlounger covers were hot to touch. Pool towels are available. Most of the walls everywhere were bare and the place generally lacked atmosphere. There were three large empty function rooms - so I guess this hotel is used more at weekends for local weddings/events.
If you have limited mobility this may not be a good choice as there's a lot of long corridors and stairs to reach the restaurant and bar. I personally feel that this hotel is too big for the location and wonder if it ever reaches 50% occupancy?

- David (9/5): Great hotel, location but food could be better - This was a surprisingly upscale, luxurious hotel - the pictures on the website don't do it justice! The family room (suite really with two bedrooms and a living room) was excellent, pool was great and ideally located for an early morning safari. Probably lets itself down a bit on the food - the buffet dinner and breakfast was ok (ish) but not what you'd expect from a hotel of this standard
- Lise-Laura (10/5): Très agréable - Le personnel de l’hôtel était vraiment au petits soins, notamment Thanuja ! Toujours souriant et disponible !
La chambre était spacieuse et confortable.

- Sri Lanka (10/5): - Comfortable rooms luxury place
- MadMax19620 (10/5): Fabulous hotel, our favourite of the 8 or so we stayed at during our trip. Staff very friendly. - This was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The room was big and very clean and cool, lovely balcony with fantastic views. The restaurant was excellent with a buffet breakfast and dinner and they provided a great packed breakfast for an early start. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Special mention to Dilan, Lalitha, Duleeka, Ashanka and Chef Gayan who were all very welcoming and went the extra mile to make our stay as good as it could have been. There was a wedding whilst we were staying and the staff were excited to shows us their preparations. The grounds are fabulous and the pool lovely. Nice bar. Very handy for Udawalawale park and the elephant orphanage.

- Zionia (9/5): Enjoyed our stay. - Comfortable, clean, food was good, very friendly staff No lifts for higher floors
- srilalm2018 (8/5): Quick overnight stay during visit to Uda Walawe National park - First time I stayed here. Pleasantly surprised. Good quality product courteous staff. Reservation handled well. Early check in permitted. All in all excellent
- Costas (7/5): Exceptionally clean with great amenities, but let down by unreliable dining, constant construction noise, and overpricin - The hotel impressed me with its exceptional cleanliness, standing out among other Sri Lankan accommodations I've experienced. The bar area provided a wonderful retreat, complete with a chess set and pool table - perfect for relaxation (though I'd recommend sticking to straight drinks as their cocktails were inconsistent). Both the room service and laundry service exceeded expectations, delivering prompt and efficient attention to detail. Dining here proved frustratingly unreliable - of the four meals I tried (two breakfasts and two dinners), only half were acceptable, with the disappointing ones being very bad for their cost but edible. The constant construction noise near the pool, main hall, and beneath our garden-facing room significantly disrupted the peaceful natural atmosphere I had hoped for. While wildlife sightings are possible, potential guests should note the hotel sits across the road from the park, unlike competing properties with direct access. Additionally, the pricing felt disproportionate to the overall experience and inconsistent quality.
- Sohail (10/5): Exceptional - Good service Limited breakfast, and ongoing renovations.
- AmandaMeadows (10/5): Beautiful 2 night stay - Beautiful Stay in this hotel. We stayed 2 nights and was delighted with the hotel. From arriving given cold flannels & welcome drinks to the lovely staff who were extremely welcoming everywhere. The food was fabulous so cannot believe some of the reviews. It was very varied & fresh for breakfast and dinner. The pictures don’t do it justice with a beautiful pool and terrace with ample beds looking out to the jungle and lake beyond. The rooms had a lovely colonial feel & were spacious & comfortable. I met the lovely manager Damitha who I told his staff & hotel was a credit to him, thank you.
- Zionia (10/5): Excellent stay - Very nice hotel. Nothing to complain about. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Food was excellent. Hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious. It was in a beautiful setting and was very quiet. Loved to have stayed longer. It would have been good if there was a lift.
- Gagan (8/5): Very good - Proximity to Udawalawa national park and many Other tourist destinations. Friendly staff
- Ashen (7/5): Good stay if you're looking for 1 night and a early checkout. - Great view very comfortable beds. Plenty of room. Upper floor balcony have amazing view. Very friendly staff. We couldn't open the balcony door because of insects. Didn't feel that clean when u are in the rooms. Shower was not spraying water properly.
- robertlY8096UI (10/5): Lovely location - What a great location.
