Guest Reviews
- Deborah (2/5): - Horrible! Very rude staff
- Michelle (6/5): - Noisy courtyard and outside. Breakfast was ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Melhorar café - Localização perfeita. Café da manhã fraquíssimo.
- David (10/5): Cusco trip w/ the boys - Our stay was very comfortable and very convenient to the 2 squares. Staff was very fiendly and accomodating. Breakfast was great and coffee was amazing. Its also connected to a separate bake / coffee shop which had great pastries and empanadas. Thank you for a great stay.
- Teresa (10/5): - The staff were very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the staff are amazing, location is great
- Jessica (10/5): - We had an unexpected change to our travel itinerary and we're really grateful the Hotel Villa Mayor had availability. We had a double room (2 twin beds). The location is unbeatable. It's right on the main square. No hoofing it up a hill to get to your room. It was a nice small, clean room with an incredible location. The only downside was the noise level. Because it's in such a central location you can hear the excitement at the square - totally out of the control of the hotel but something to consider if you're a light sleeper. We really enjoyed our stay.
- April (10/5): - Staff was helpful and very accommodating. I had a room facing the plaza—it was a tad loud celebrating a feast day, but also a joy to be around. I knew it would be loud in the plaza (from reading previous reviews) and didn’t mind. Walls were a tad thin though, I had a room right under the stairs, so I could hear everyone coming up and down. My bathroom window also oddly opened up just under the stairs as well. But my room had 2 beds, a desk, a chair, and an area to put my belongings. It was nice that they also provide a boxed breakfast if you have to leave early for an excursion. Overall, a wonderful spot so close to all the action in Cusco.
- Briana (10/5): - Super helpful staff to take care of all our needs, flexible. Great location for everything, but that means you can hear the traffic and people outside. No parking and didn’t notice any AC but great for walking travelers at the heart of the city
- Benedick (10/5): Old school charm in city center. - The location of the place is spot on without it being too crazy. It’s steps away from the hustle and bustle but still a blow away that it’s quiet enough. The place has its old charm but i expected it because I wanted to feel the full experience of the history and be around the culture without it being too modern. The lace can use some fixing but I was more than happy with it. The service was exceptional and they even packed me snack bags for my tours. If your looking for no fuss, emerge in Peruvian experience and close to it all, this is the place to be.
- Billy Don (10/5): - Very clean and friendly. Breakfast was not much but that was ok with us.
- Yankiel (10/5): - Great view to Plaza Regocijo and amazing location
- Anshuman (10/5): - Property is located centrally in Main square and hence everything is very convenient,
The inside look/room is little old, but I guess you aren’t going to be in room during the day.
Be mindful of weekends- the music from nearby pubs is loud and goes on late!!
Staff - Lys and Hernan - were very helpful (helped me with many questions ).
- Phil (8/5): Good spot to stay BEFORE Machu Picchu - Good location, overall good value, but sound really carries. People are waking up early to go to Machu Picchu which is great! I would stay here again BEFORE Machu Picchu, but if you want to sleep in after Machu Picchu maybe not the best choice.
- Arindam (10/5): - awesome location , everything is very close.
Service is great and staffs are very friendly and try to help you in every steps.
Rooms are great, we could see the streets and the park from balcony.
love the location
- Neil (2/5): - The hotel seems conveniently located close to the Plaza de Armas. However, it is too uncomfortable. The beds are not sturdy, are held in place with straps and creak every time you do the sightliest movement. Additionally, the windows are too thin and you can hear all the street noise, specially the all-night-long honking.
- Leticia (10/5): - I liked that Liz was very nice and very on top of things as soon as I had a problem. She was very friendly and helpful with everything. The breakfast was really good too. Overall happy with my stay there.
- Saeid (6/5): - Everything was Ok, but if you need reliable internet, do not stay here.
- Björg (6/5): - No windows in my room, except the sml one in the ceiling. That I fo find claustrophobic!
Staff very friendly.
- Kristian (8/5): The owner Elisabeth is a fantastic - The owner Elisabeth is fantastic generous kind and helpfull❤️
- Oscar (6/5): - I booked a room with a doble bed but I got a room with a doble and a single bed witch was too small and not enough room for our need.
I addressed the issue with the staff in charge but he come out with a lots of excuses and at the end he didn't do nothing about it. Very disappointed for what I paid.
I have only one question for you:
1:- Why you allow companies like this one to miss lead and take advantage of clients?
2:- I believe they know what they doing because they know that's hard to get accomodation in the very last minute in areas like that.
Thanks

- Verified traveler (6/5): Melhor ponto: localização - O quarto é pequeno e o banheiro BEM pequeno. A localização é o que vale a pena.
- Julie (8/5): - Great location and great breakfast. Room was small but cozy and had a tv. Heater was broken.
- Uriel (8/5): - Overall it was clean, the WiFi was slow and it was a little dated. The hotel is really close to a lot, so good deal.
- Sheila (2/5): -
I like breakfast only and ubication the rest is terrible
- Ramesh (6/5): tiny place - good hotel, but compact rooms. very close to main area.no ventilation & noisy from the square
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was so friendly and helpful. The location can not be beat - right in the center of everything. It’s noisy from outside which can’t be helped. Make sure your room has a space heater for the chilly nights. The breakfast is good with eggs made to order and fresh fruit. Don’t expect fancy at this price. It’s clean and central with helpful staff. I would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a very nice hotel centrally located but it can be very noisey Our room was facing the square which was nice but the traffic was very loud and continued all night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a good time in this place. Great location to visit Cusco
- HC (8/5): - Staff are very accommodating. Great breakfast. Best location 1 block from Plaza De Armes. Shower has hot water with very strong pressure, only negative is toilet flushes weak and slow and the power outlets often don't charge (not providing proper power output).
- Robert (4/5): I wouldn't stay there again - Good location. Good breakfast.
Shower's temperature is unpredictable, it switches to boiling hot to freezing randomly whilst the shower is on.
Wifi wasn't available all the time and when available it had quite poor connection.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location for walking, site-seeing, and dining. Friendly and helpful staff. Very noisy at night, but I suppose that it to be expected when you sleep so close to the Plaza. I do wish there was some glass on the windows or something to block out sound. It is just wooden shutters.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent location and helpful staff. Rooms were average.
- sahaon (10/5): Great Stay in Cusco - They could not have been nicer. The hotel was very charming and I loved the cocoa tea and leaves that were always available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked that this was in a fantastic location, right off the main plaza. It's also a cute historical building. The room was small, but clean and comfortable for one person. It was very loud due to the festivities, but that was nothing to do with the hotel - just note that it is consistently loud surrounding Cusco's anniversary. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only really annoying inconvenience is that they do not have bottles of water available, so if you are arriving later at night when surrounding stores are closed, make sure you plan ahead to have water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is fabulous. Right on a very nice square and one block from an even bigger square with lots of activity.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was very helpful, room was always very clean, great location, and breakfast was great and just enough. The things I look for in selecting a hotel are: cleanliness, location, comfort. This hotel met my expectations!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very helpful. Takes visa which is a plus. Nice breakfast. Good value
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location friendly staff I lost my sunglasses and they kept it for me
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good breakfast room a bit a bit noisy as you can hear the music from the next-door bar
- Thomas (2/5): Don't book this hotel if you want to sleep. - We booked a double room and when we arrived we received a Twin Room. We asked the front desk if they can change the room. They let us know they don't have an other room with queen bed for us ( the one we booked ) . Then we took the room with no choice because it was already late. The night was a nightmare cause of the nightclub right to our room. Finally at 7am a cleaning staff knocked at the door and opened it without waiting any answer from us.This woke up us after this terrible night. Wouldn’t stay here again. It wasn’t comfortable and super noisy.
- Soowon (4/5): counter lady service was awful - the lady attitude was awful who assisted our check in, she couldn't speak English well and we had a bit difficult time to communicate. and then she rolled her eyes, sighed loudly in front of me. we were very disappointed at her service. other staff were nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location. Poor Service. - Highlights: location, hot water (and water pressure in shower), available breakfast (nothing fancy but very convenient!)
Lowlights: Mediocre customer service.
Details:
We stayed here after hiking the Inka Trail. The hotel is in a great location near the main Plaza. The bathroom was cozy but had great water pressure and hot water, so it was perfect for what we wanted. We got back from our hike kind of late and called the front desk to ask for a few water bottles. They informed us that this was not a service they provided which was very disappointing. At that point we would have paid any amount of high price for water (since we were ending the 4 day hike). It would've been a great opportunity for customer service that they very much did not take. Additionally, the wifi or TV did not work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Actually I like this place because was comfortable and kind of small house to me. The staff was so friendly professional.
- Graham (10/5): Perfect location, wonderful oldbuilding - Very helpful staff. Breakfast excellent with eggs cooked to order. Location perfect on square next to Plaza Mayor, which is the centre of everything, including restaurants.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bed wasn’t comfortable and squeaked ... REALLY loud in the area
- Donald (8/5): - Excellent location in the heart of the historic city. Quaint hotel with interesting rooms and artefacts. Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I did not stay there. I reserved a double bed room and they gave our room to someone else. They were helpful and found us a hostel near by that had one.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the authentic feel and decor of the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Willing to provide help for customers. Breakfast was yummy. Bathroom facility was a bit poor.
- Raman (10/5): Right behind Plaza de Armas - Great hotel, super location, excellent service, nice breakfast (fresh Mango juice!)
- Amanda (10/5): Great place - This was a last minute booking as we had a cancelled flight - we were very happy with it. We got it on sale so the value was great. It's condition maybe isn't as high as a new 4/5 star hotel, but it was in good condition, while still having charm and character, which I really liked. The service was good too. Wi-fi wasn't working, but we talked to them about it and they reset it right away for us, and then it worked fine. And the cheese and bread for breakfast was so nice and fresh! We would stay there again.
- Yasuyuki (8/5): Good - Good location, near by Almas plaza but that’s caused noisy by traffic.
- Mark (10/5): - Wonderful, helpful, amazingly friendly staff. Perfect location. Only downside is the square can be a bit noisy in the evening if your room is on the square. But there are 5 star hotels with same issue. The location and staff make up for this.
- Leah (8/5): - Staff at the hotel is great! I had a view of the plaza which was nice but meant there was a lot of noise when I was trying to sleep. Make sure you bring earplugs!
- Robin (10/5): Sleeper hotel - Picked this hotel for its proximity to the central area of town. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel was clean and the room was a good size. I would EASILY stay here again with any subsequent trips.
- Robin (10/5): Great stay unless town is celebrating. - Stayed at this hotel both before and after hiking the Inca trail. The hotel was convenient however, the area was quite noisy all night. When Cusco is celebrating ANY event, the hotel is located at city center and therefore at the hub of late night parades. Also, there is a disco located next door that played music all night till about 4-5am!
Otherwise hotel is comfortable and clean and the staff is very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The good: location. Good standard breakfast.
The bad: location (noise early in morning at 5-6 am, from cars etc depending on where window is facing); bathroom was cramped, sink pipe leaked, not very comfortable (outdated).
- Steph (8/5): Cozy hotel with a convenient location - Cozy hotel with a super convenient location. Wifi was a bit tepermental but once we informed the hotel staff they fixed it. Water in the shower took a minute to warm up but once it got going it was nice. Overall would book again for convenience. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful.
- Michelle (4/5): - Very nice staff, but hotel is really old. The floor creaks so loud it kept us up. Wouldn’t stay here again. It wasn’t comfortable and got little rest
- Sarah (10/5): Gret value! - Really was great staying here.
- Jose (10/5): Small hotel with Charm in Cusco - The hotel is very small but is very well located in the middle of Cusco. The staff is very friendly and do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nothing works - No cold water, only hot water reported it they said to just keep trying rooms very old and bed reallllllly uncomfortable, bathroom not clean. Do not stay here not worth the money at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Awesome hotel in a great location. Only one thing that really turned us off. We asked the guy working the front desk in the afternoon how much it would cost to take a taxi to Moray. He said he would check for us. We left hotel for a walk. And when we got back. He told us he could arrange a taxi for $80.00 american, aprox $250.00 soles
We had already did our research on line. And knew the price should be around $120.00 soles.
The next morning we asked the lady working behind the front desk how much to take a taxi to Moray. She said give her a moment snd she would get us a price. After breakfest we went and talked to her. She told us she checked with three taxi companys and they all had the same price of $110.00 soles. We asked her to make arrangements for us. And she did.
We were very dissapointed that a staff member had tryed to take advantage of us. Very inappropriate.
- Susanna (10/5): - Very sweet and helpful. They were able to speak english
- Jamison (10/5): Great Location & Amazing Hospitality - Walking distance from key sites and fun bars. Amazing breakfasts too—delicious fruit bar, homemade cereal, & egg scrambles. Most of all, the staff was amazingly helpful when our flight was cancelled. Jenny translated with the airline and coordinated our early morning taxi. Dennis setup us up with laundry service. Overall, very kind staff and great service!
- George (6/5): Nice location - I have already given my views. The first nite we could not sleep until our room was changed, the nite clerk could not speak ANY English, however changed our room fairly quickly, I was unable to tip him but he was sympathetic and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I loved everything about this hotel !
my only complaint that it was very noisy my room was very close to the main plaza and Street
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great Location But Hard Bed - Friendly staff and very helpful. After hiking Machu Picchu, walking up two flights of stairs to our room was not fun. Beds were really hard and the pillows were flat. We requested a queen bed and got two double beds. There is a window on the ceiling and the rain hitting it was very loud. Rooms were clean and shower had plenty of hot water.
- Luis (10/5): will go back - Although the space in the room was limited, the fact that it was close to Plaza de Armas and facing a smaller plaza with an water fountain made it a nice place to stay. In addition, the hotel has character and the décor is amazing. The breakfast area is very cozy and the staff is super-friendly.
