Guest Reviews
- THIERRY (8/5): Super plan Je conseil.
- Bram (9/5): - Vriendelijke familie, heel goede locatie
- Ana Rita (8/5): Casa de família muito acolhedora e tranquila - Casa antiga com ambiente familiar e muito acolhedora
Dona muito simpática e prestativa
Pequeno almoço soberbo no terraço
- Emma (7/5): Rahwa was super friendly and helped us with whatever we needed! It was in a good location within the medina. - The family and children will be up into the early hours of the morning, playing and talking. We and children try to get into our room around 1am. Just be prepared it’s a very communal space.
- Abdel Hamid (9/5): -
- bernardo (8/5): - Todo correcto
- Felix (9/5): Superb -
- Mikolaj (8/5): Really good hostel - Great rooftop terrace where the breakfast is served. Views to the landscape of Fes' medina. Bathroom in 8 person room had to toilet paper and shower was not comfortable to use, but it is not a huge problem as the price for night is amazing.
- Gianluca (8/5): Week exploring Fes and the surrounding. - Spacious room, very nice terrace where to eat and relax. Nothing in particular.
- Hristo (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast that these guys cooked for us was amazing. It was so delicious! The location is also great, if you want to have a walk through the medina.
And last but not least, the terrace on the rooftop was really nice to enjoy your breakfast and watch the sunset.
Thank you so much and I would definitely come again if I come back to Fes 🙌🏽
- Georgios (9/5): Superb - Very friendly staff, convenient location, well decorated building and room, nice view from the terrace and our room as well, nice breakfast, close by parking. Better sound isolation is needed (doors and windows need replacement). A small fridge inside the room is always useful and is missing.
- Iurii (10/5): Great place in medina - Great location, terrace, breakfast, very lovely and helpfully people working there. Late check-in was no problem. Maybe sound insulation between a room and common areas
- Suriyah (1/5): Incorrect address on booking.com, left stranded! - The location is inaccurate on booking.com. It showed me it was in the area called Batha which is considered more safe especially at night. However, when I tried to find the place on the address provided there was no Riad there, locals told me it was deep in the medina near the tannery. They were unhelpful, did not communicate or help me find the Riad. I was dragging my 20kg suitcase around for an hour and a half trying to find this suitcase until I gave up and checked into a local riad the area, who thankfully had space!
- Julfikar (10/5): Amazing stress free experience - Located in a great spot. Staff is extremely sweet, made our time at Fes extremely helpful. They suggested recommendations for the city and the breakfast is great as well. Stairs were a little narrow
- Jannis (9/5): Superb -
- Mouad (10/5): Exceptional - It was really Amazing, Thanks Naima and all the stuff who made our stay unforgettable ✌🏻🌹
- Sofia (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, close to one entrance of the medina, so it's ideal if you arrive by car. Public parking lot close by. Beautiful terrace and view. Good breakfast. Our family room was small with no place to store anything.
- Ismail (8/5): Good place to stay in old city of Fès - The place is very good and clean!! You can feel the Moroccan architecture in this place which is in heart of old city of Fès!! The staff is very kind and helpful, a special thanks to the young men Mohamed and Rashid who took care of us!! It would be great if you can add liquid soap in the washrooms
- Marcos (10/5): Will come back for sure. Highly recommended!! - Super nice views of the city at the terrace No regreats.
- Guillermo (9/5): Superb -
- Verstraete (8/5): Very good - Location and accommodation are perfect.
A little difficult to find as you stay on the old medina, which is a real labyrinth when you arrive for the first time.
Perfect rooftop with a very nice view and sunrises.
Price/quality, OK.
Fès is a nice town, as the entire country is. I'm in love with Morocco.
Unfortunately, the locals inside the cities see us, foreigners, as a walking lottery ticket and try to make big money out of everything. We are the ones to blame as it is our own creation. We forget to adapt to the local culture, way of living, and prices.
The country is growing very fast and is unfortunately becoming thé most touristic country of the last decade, and will when grow bigger, which is a pity and will take away a lot of her originality and origins, ancient culture.
- Dien (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay. Breakfast on the terrace was so lovely and everyone was so friendly. Would definitely come back.
- Martalopezcu (10/5): Great Stay in Fez - location is fantastic, close to blue gate and main street which adds safety.
Rooms are big and terrace view is nice.
Hosts are friendly and provide much information in person or WhatsApp. just for people with mobility issues , there are many stairs
- Jacqui (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing - Good A/C didn’t work (eg) A/C remote device didn’t have batteries 🪫,was given flat batteries.
- Evgeny (9/5): Superb - The hostel is in a riad. Decorated in nice classic terracotta colors. On a quiet street in the center of the medina, and you can easily walk to the Shuara tanneries. The breakfast was very good. Fried eggs with spices, in a tagine. Fresh orange juice. There is no sign with the name of the hotel. When Google maps do not work correctly, it is difficult to find it. I was alone in the hostel(, and did not feel the atmosphere of the hostel.
- Julie (10/5): Great stay! - We really liked the hotel. The breakfast and room were very nice. The bed was very comfortable and the location was great!
Staff were very nice!
- Anna (9/5): Delightful - Great location on the edge of the medina, so you can either head in or about a 10 minute walk head out to get a taxi elsewhere. The room was comfortable. The shower takes its time to warm up, but has been the same in other Moroccan stays. Lovely host, who does her best to help when asked. Fantastic view from the terrace. If you speak French then you’ll have a lovely time speaking to the host’s father. Watch out for the tortoise. It was eggs for breakfast every morning; okay for a short stay. There are lots of narrow stairs, so not recommended if you have mobility issues.
- Bo (10/5): Nice stay!! - We really liked the place! The communication the kindness and hospitality. They even arranged a great tour with a guide through the old Medina. There was as well a Turtle on the beautiful rooftop terrace. The bathroom could be a little bit cleaner.
- Sivaprakash (8/5): Very good - Ismail (manager) was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The terrace was beautiful with good view. The rooms were comfortable. Very authentic riad stay with wonderful rooms. A lot of steps. Not very comfortable for aged people.
- Thomi (2/5): Very poor -
- Pierre (9/5): Superb - Dar very well located in the heart of the medina of Fes, Hanane is extremely kind and helpful. The breakfasts are excellent, and can be enjoyed on the sunny terrace. Could be better soundproofed
- Abadou (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great 👍
- Mehdi (7/5): Live like a family member with kind hearted people - Very welcoming people both the manager and the staff and helpful in every way they could. A good breakfast every day till 11:00 on the roof and a friendly environment. That is not a hotel so you do not have everything in your room. It is an old house Moroccan style with short doors and narrow stairs. If you have a big suitcase it is a bit difficult though everybody helps you to make it to your room! So while you enjoy an authentic culture in architecture you have to be careful not to bump your head going out and coming in or slip on the stairs! For me it was a bit cold but I am sure in the summertime the coolness inside is great.
- P (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manon (9/5): Perfectly located inside the amazing Medina of Fez, you’ll find your home for a few days. - Dar Naima is the perfect place to stay and explore Fez. The riad is great, the breakfast amazing and the staff super welcoming! It is inside the medina but in a quiet area. And as a solo traveler I felt looked after. I truely recommend this hotel!
- Priscila (10/5): Very good - We loved Dar Naima, the rooms are beautiful and very clean, the terrace is beautiful with a view of the whole area and the ruins, the breakfast is very good, the staff are very receptive, they help with everything you ask for, thank you especially for the helps Driss, Wafai, Hanan and Zack. The location is good, a good place to rest and also see all the best in Fez. Nothing to complain about.
- Patricia (10/5): BEST Accommodation in centre of Medina FES. Will recommend it full power. Super Happy :) - Stayed on 26th Nov 2023 for 2 nights in the Centre of Medina Fes which I love to experience the locals. We celebrated our anniversary during our stay in Fes and what a surprise ... on our second day Abrahim which he welcomed us, is a very nice, humble and dedicated person, upgraded the room and we were so surprised for the detail in this upgraded room. I deeply wish to thank Abrahim and his staff for the effort in this. I will treasure the memories for life. The big breakfast at the roof top was amazing with amazing tranquil views. The rooms were very clean, very quiet and comfortable with heated water. Location is the best in Fes. Thank you Abrahim for helping us with the luggages and for the amazing rooms. We appreciate all with a smile.
- Zack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregg (8/5): Lovely family run accommodation in Fes - A fantastic place to stay during a recent visit to Fes. The staff are friendly and accommodating and serve a lovely homemade breakfast on the roof terrace every morning. A great place to escape the hub bub of the busy medina streets below
- Mo's (8/5): Nice stay - The Terras had an amazing view, the staff were hospitable and nice especially Brahim. The breakfast was delicious and fulfilling. The bathroom that came with the room was small and had a door that is equipped with see-through glass. Which means that it wasn't blurry enough and u could see the other person inside it.
- Mihai (10/5): Exceptional - Nice place, great terrace! And a very nice and helpful staff. Thank you so much!
- Osama (1/5): Bad -
- Manal (8/5): It was great! Hanane is awesome! - Hanane was very friendly and her breakfast was delicious! The location of the property was not clear. We had to stop several times to ask for directions since it was all walking. At the dar, there are many stairs and I have problems with my knees. It was very difficult for me to go all these steps up and down at least twice a day. I wish it was mentioned under the property description so that people with physical problems like me can make a better decision choosing the location.
- Irena (10/5): Exceptional - Splendid breakfast on the terrace. .
- Matias (7/5): Good -
- Laaguidi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christina (10/5): Amazing!!! - I absolutely loved the view from the terrace !
The heartwelcoming and care from Dearest Fatima she was wonderful she made our stay feel like home ! The breakfast was very nice I was looking forward to it every morning ! The rooms were comfortable and big
- Boumaiz (8/5): the host did her best to satisfy our needs against all odds. -
- Angie (7/5): Good -
- Angela (3/5): Poor - I was greeted by a lovely, very kind and sweet man. Though I did not receive a key which became very difficult to be there It smelt very bad in the bathrooms and around the entrance smelt horrible of cat piss. I had to sleep under covers to hide from the disgusting smell which was uncomfortable considering the heat
- Dounia (10/5): it was great - i like everything in this hostel especially the terrace have an amazing view
- Rheana (8/5): Very good - Dar Naima is a comfortable, traditional Riad, will lots of personality reflected in it's style, staff and location. The medina can be tricky to navigate but with the Riad located on a central street, it's easy to find once you get the hang of your surroundings. The staff went over and above to make my stay enjoyable with local recommendations, adding an extra bed when family stayed and giving me an early breakfast when I was fasting. By the end of my stay it was like a second home which I really appreciated. The terrace also has a phenomenal view. Highly recommend and would stay again. My only recommendation would be the addition of a few hangers for coats but that's pretty much it
- Arianna (9/5): the staff was very nice and friendly and take good care of us; the riad is nice and quiet, with all the necessity - wonderful terrace on Fez, good position in the Medina, staff welcoming and kind there was a little issue with the room at the beginning but they found the best solution for us
- Susana (2/5): Very poor - Breakfast was ok: eggs, bread, margarine, jam, fresh squeezed orange juice, and tea.
Hot shower with good water pressure. I booked 3 nights. When I arrived they only had 2 nights, but in different rooms (meaning wasting a lot of time checking in and out and waiting for the new check in time)
They did not offer any solution, just said "go somewhere else". Then forced me to cancel the booking myself, so that they don't get fined. Otherwise they'd make it look like I didn't pay and charge the total amount!
Btw, booking.com didn't reply to my messages asking for a solution, and the only way to talk to someone was to call UK (from Morocco), which I had no means to do at the moment.
The dorm I had initially booked looked nothing like the pics. There was rubbish everywhere, old stuffed packed under the stairs. Looked like a corner in a public parking. Don't even know how to describe it. Really nonchalant. Imagine a 1€ a night backpackers in the badwment of s pub in Berlin, and you have the picture.
Anyways... The bed they gave me had no bedsheet. I kindly asked the male worker for one, and he flipped! He got very agressive and agitated, and started yelling that if I don't like the room I can go, and if I want bedsheets I should pay for a 60 dollars room (!?) Bedsheets were listed in my booking, and are to be expected in any accommodation. I had read a review where they call this gentleman Cromagnon, and I can confirm he acts as such. He is scary.
Anyways, the lady manager finally gave me a bedsheet.
There was no gel or shampoo, even though it's meant to be included in the booking.
My overall impression was that there's a massive mess going on. They accept more bookings than they can handle, then try to put people wherever they can, or just quick them out shamelessly.
Do not book if you appreciate cleanliness, and if you are not ready to change plans last minute, perhaps late at night like I had to do!
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Abdul and his sister were super friendly and helpful. Great evening meals and breakfasts. Right in the medina. Didn't realise that I couldn't take my motorbike into the medina, but the local carpark guys and porters were super efficient about transporting our gear to the riad.
- Harm (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place to stay. Having breakfast on the rooftop made me smile every morning. Great way to wake up 🤗 the owners are also very friendly, always happy to have a chat. You can't beat the location
- Jane (4/5): Disappointing -
- Maria-cristina (9/5): Clean, safe stay, very nice - The stay was perfect for us. Big, clean, traditional and nice room. The bathroom was a little bit small, but it is a traditional building so I guess its just the space they have (but this was not a problem for us). The terrace is very nice, view over media, superb to have breakfast and dinner. They were very nice and helped us with everything. I recommend Dar Naima. Very nice and safe stay! Easy to find from The Blue Gate. Thank you again! Everything was perfect for us!
- Kevin (10/5): Excellent - great host - very helpful, great location, great breakfast
- Kendra (10/5): Recommended! - great breakfast, great view from rooftop while eating breakfast, nice and helpful staff, great location in medina, nice room and furnishings, comfy bed
- Sofia (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff and amazing view from the terrace where you can have your breakfast.
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luigi (10/5): Exceptional - This Riad is very nice and it looks very authentic. The location is perfect, really in the middle of medina but very quite in the evening. The terrace is beautiful and the staff really nice. Breakfast and the lunch/dinner were very good. nothing
- Aneb (10/5): Amazing authentic riad high standards of cleanliness - thank you hannan for being a wonderful host you have made my time here perfect nothing is too small or too big to ask and arrange. Beautiful riad in a prime but quiet location central to everything, amazing breakfast I look forward to coming back inshallah!
- Penny (8/5): most comfortable bed in Morocco so far - the bed was SO comfortable!! the room was also very quiet and the rooftop view was incredible. I tried to take a shower but not hot water came out; even after waiting for a while.
- Adam_b_ (10/5): A great stay to experience Moroccan culture at an amazing price. Helpful, welcoming and a great view - Every morning started with a great Moroccan breakfast, which was filling and fresh. The breakfast came with a beautiful view of the medina. I recommend catching the sunrise or sunset on top of the hotel. Sunset with call for prayer is a surreal experience.
- Dirk (10/5): Amazing - The most beautiful breakfast view I’ve ever had! Very warm staff and in the middle of the Medina!
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rida (10/5): Exceptional - It’s a very beautiful place. It’s a Moroccan traditionally way, I felt like I’m home and everything was more than perfect and the lady she’s very humble and helpful.I really recommend it.
- Paulandreu (10/5): The perfect place for location, price and services. Do not doubt to stay on Dar Naima! - The most beautiful about Dar Naima is how they treat you, making feel you like in family. Also the accommodation was perfect, with all you need. And in the middle of the medina, which was fantastic. The breakfast it’s delicious! The perfect place! I can not complain about anything at all
- Helen (8/5): Very good - The Riad was in a great position in the Medina and I received a warm welcome on arrival. The dorm, which had beautiful wooden windows and ceilings, was spacious, with comfortable beds and lockers for belongings. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace with stunning views over the Medina. I was really happy staying here and I will be returning for another stay in a few days time.
- Jonathan (6/5): Warm reception and great location, however much room for improvement. - Friendly staff, great location in the middle of the Medina, nice roof terrace with lovely view over the city. Quiet room with working air conditioning and plenty of space. Bed was hard and bedding was very basic (duvet cover was not provided) and had multiple stains. Shower flooded the whole bathroom with each use, which remained for the rest of the day and we were told not to flush toilet paper in the loo. Frequent smell of drains in the room. No cupboard nor clothing rack provided to unpack clothing. There was also a screw loose in the door handle which made closing the door difficult. This required a simple repair, but was simply being ignored. Breakfast was nice, but very basic and minimal (the same every day) and no fresh juice. We hope this will be taken as constructive criticism to improve the property, as it clearly has a lot of potential!
- Laura (9/5): Dar Naima is wonderful ! - the rooms were lovely and the staff was very kind. Hanane is a great host and a local!
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Great view from the terrace. Very accommodating. You really get to experience Ancient Medina, centrally located yet no noise sitting outside.. A great host Hannan is an exceptional host.
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional - It’s a very charming traditional house, in a perfect location inside the Medina. I really enjoyed the breakfast and the rooftop has the best view of the Medina and the mountains. I really recommend it!
- Ramon (8/5): Staff very good - Breakfast Some problema in bathroom..
- Emma (8/5): Very good - Excellent roof terrace for breakfast. Perfect location in the medina. Incredibly helpful host. A great place to stay in Fes medina.
- Geoffrey (8/5): Very good -
- Cynthia (8/5): Perfect location Amazing breakfast - Friendly staff, clean, 10/10 breakfast 😁 they work with the best guide I had in Fes, 100% honest and nice. I didn't have a key so my 8 bed dorm was always open and right next to the main entrance (which some people left open I guess for the lack of keys as well). It didn't feel very safe (even I want to clarify it was safe, but it keeps you in alert mode all the time 😅)
- Anni (10/5): Wonderful stay with excellent breakfast - When in Fes forget about a hostel and book into Dar Naima. You will be richly rewarded with a centrally located comfortable bed, clean facilities, plentiful breakfast and warm, authentic Moroccan hospitality. Panoramic views from the renovated roof terrace are fantastic and its enchanting to hear calls to prayer echoing around the Medina. Highly recommend!
- Pete (10/5): Can’t speak highly enough- great place, lovely people - Hosts went above and beyond- so friendly. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. A little tricky to find at first, but easy when you know.
- Сергей (10/5): Exceptional - Great location near parking slot, best breakfasts Ive tried in Morocco, very welcoming owners
- Jamie (8/5): Good old town accommodation with a great host - The accommodation requires guests to be dropped at one of the carparks surrounding the old town however a porter service is available and can be arranged via the host at a cost. It also provides security if arraiving or departing in the small hours as the souk alleys are empty and dark to and from the carpark for transport. The host is very friendly and helpful and can arrange tours around the souk and to the tannery and other requirements of guests. The room size was generous with good facilities. I enjoyed my stay here.
- Ann (8/5): great riad experience in Fez and fantastic value for the money - great location in the medina, pretty room, comfortable bed. We took a cooking class with hannan, the owner, which we really enjoyed - highly recommended. Bathroom was very clean but door did not close.
- Eleonora (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was very kind with us. The Riad has a super nice view upon the city, where you can have breakfast, which was super good. The location is perfect if you want the visit the medina. The directions to arrive at the Riad weren't super clear, I would have given more indications to reach the Riad.
- Marta (7/5): Perfect position to visit Fes and kindness - The kindness and disponibility of the host. She offers us tea and organised the travel to the airport on our way home
The very nice breakfast with traditional dishes
The big terrace and the view on it
The central position of the riad There weren’t shampoo and hairdryer
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
