• David (5/5): Not the best - The location The general cleanliness of the room was not good lots of spider webs on the ceiling and lights the shower had pink bacteria stains the bed was very low and uncomfortable the general furnishings were low quality and curtains poor the room windows were open to everyone who could walk past or you had to close the curtains completely which was quite depressing overall I would not recommend the property
• Michael (8/5): Great overnight stay - Great location by the river. Good sized room for the price. Separate building for those with dogs which suited us. Good for access to Cambridge and St.Ives. Good selection of drinks in the bar. Rooms have limited power supplies for charging computers and phones.
• Karen (7/5): It would probably be quite busy in the summer with the mariner.we weren’t over impressed with the room - The setting is very nice, but a bit out of the way Breakfast was £15 each, a bit excessive. Being in a building away from the hotel, not good if it’s raining.
• Maureen (10/5): Really relaxing stay. - The location was beautiful, so peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was very good. Good service. Really enjoyed our stay. If ever near here again would definitely come again. We highly recommend. There was nothing to not like.
• Katie (7/5): Nice setting, quiet if no big events, helpful staff, average hotel near st Ives and Cambridge - Nice setting on a marina, also pub and restaurant if you wanted food and drink without driving. 5 to 10 mins from St Ives. Helpful staff who allowed easy check in and choice of room. Spacious shower and quiet when we stayed as no large events such as weddings Rooms overall quite clean but a bit tired. Towels had fake tan stains on them. Curtains hanging off curtain rail at one end and stained. Bedding very clean and comfortable apart from a large spider. This is not a luxury hotel but an average hotel.

Breakfast was very good The carpet in the room is a little tired. We understand the age of the property, but we found the uneven floors a little off putting.

They have thought of everything. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with lovely big bathrooms. There is a kids playroom in the pub which is also amazing! The staff were all really friendly and welcoming!

Excellent bar and restaurant, food served there was very good. The room looked newly decorated/fitted out with attractive shower room, however the shower leaked at the floor from underneath and power of the water from shower heads seemed low.

• Fiona (7/5): Nice place, would like to visit in summer - Very welcoming staff. Nice situation. Cosy feel in bar. Ultra dog-friendly. Tiled chalet room with direct access outside for dogs. Disappointed to find no food available after 4pm on a Sunday, and bar closed at 8pm. After a long journey followed by a tiring day we had been looking forward to a nice relaxing meal and a few drinks. Also disappointed at the set price for breakfast. Whether you feasted or wanted a very small breakfast, the charge was £15.

The room we were ‘upgraded’ to had an air conditioning unit outside that kept us awake, an uncomfortable bed, no hot water for the shower and thick dust on part of the skirting board. I normally wouldn’t notice the dust but it was very obvious.

• Jenny (8/5): 3 nights by the river Ouse - evening meal delicious, veg option, and a surprise when we were brought two extra plates of sides by the charming manager and waiter (?) to make up for a delay which to be honest wasn't very long , so all very good. Breakfast less amazing but satisfactory if a little expensive for us. room perfect, just a little dust under and behind beds/radiateurs, but well provided and refreshed daily (water,tea coffee bathroom products etc), good idea to cover the cups etc in a transparent box ;) nice being directly outside onto the lawn, tables, and river +boats.. easy also for parking next to the rooms just one or two nights the walls proved to be thin as we could hear the neighbours easily, but luckily not too late.. I understand, but from an ecological point of view I would be happy if things such as plastic bin liners weren't changed for the stay unless really necessary?
• Charlotte (8/5): Nice hotel - The breakfast was really good and the restaurant area very nice. The rooms all had a theme which was lovely. However the bathroom could have been cleaner when we arrived. We did also have to put a blanket on the floor at the bottom of the door to block light coming in from the corridor. Although the room was cosy and the shower was big.

• Kathryn (7/5): We had a good stay and would definitely return despite my comments.good value for money - The location was what drew us to the Pike and Eel and that hotel had separate rooms in the grounds. This suited us as we took our dog. The pub and food were excellent and our meals were very good; beautifully cooked, and tasty. The staff were very kind and helpful and went the extra mile spoiling us when they knew we had returned to the area my husband had lived in as a teenager (he now has Parkinson’s so I doubt we’ll be able to return). Attention to detail would be my main comment. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable- good bedding and towels, but little things needed attention: towel rail coming away from the wall, cracked bath panel, grout around the bath and the tiles used as skirting was poor, bathroom mirror and shaving point both not straight on the wall, dodgy aerial cable which meant the TV picture was temperamental. Individually, these points don’t seem much but they would only take a few hours to fix and the overall impression would be very much improved.
• Carole (3/5): Sorry! - Location ok We were Expecting a comfortable countryside picturesque room overlooking the river and ended up in a basic characterless outbuilding with no luxury whatsoever and grubby bathroom and entrance door that wouldn’t open. On arrival we were led through a scruffy back passage with rain leaking through a light fitting into a bucket. We forfeited one day of our booking as we were so dissappointed.

La camera dog friendly era in una struttura staccata, semplice ma spaziosa. Con le temperature di agosto non ci sono stati problemi. Bella la terrazza dove ho cenato con vista su prato e fiume. Grande parcheggio gratuito. Per Uk direi ottimo prezzo. Personale gentile. La mattina non ho trovato nessuno a cui lasciare le chiavi, messe nella cassetta della posta

It was lovely seeing everyone enjoying themselves in and on the river, and all the boats, birds etc. The accommodation was a chalet in a little block overlooking the marina. The bed was really comfy and we especially liked the huge TV. There was a good selection of beverages and biscuits, plus bottled water in the room. It was so peaceful. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant in the evening, and we watched the house martins swooping around whilst we sat on the terrace with a nice cold drink - it was during the heatwave! Was a lovely break and we would definitely recommend it. Great value for money. Although there's frosted glass in the bathroom window, we'd prefer a blind as well
• Suzette (5/5): Okay for a short stay - The venue was nice as was the meal we had there. The grounds are lovely especially on a hot summers day. The room was very small, there was no aircon, the shower had very little pressure, it was quite a dangerous exercise getting in and out of the bath to shower. The bathroom products were so small it wouldn't have been enough for one person let alone two. We had no toilet paper when we first arrived, and there is no fridge!
• Lynn (9/5): Fabulous river/marina beer garden & lovely pub - We really enjoyed our stay. We had a nice spacious chalet room with your own seating out the front with a view of the marina. The shower was powerful & hot, and the beds were quite comfy. The pub had live music on the Saturday afternoon which we really enjoyed & the seating & space at the front of the hotel just makes the best beer garden as it is right on the river and is a huge space. We also ate both nights at the pub and enjoyed the food.
• Joy (10/5): Wonderful haven on the river - Comfortable, attractive, clean, quiet room in a gorgeous location. Fantastic to have the river right outside our door. Welcoming and friendly staff who looked after us very well. Lovely restaurant with a delicious menu and sitting on the terrace watching the river was a delightful way to spend the evening. Nice touches like fresh bottled water in our room each day and lovely complimentary toiletries. We couldn't fault the place at all and look forward very much to our next visit.

The only complaint I have is the mattress is slightly on it worst years! I could feel the springs , however my other half slept like a baby so not all people will have an issue!!

• Sarahjane (6/5): Lovely location, but noisy and bed was very small. - The location of the property was lovely, opening the door and looking out of the window at the river. The on site pub was lovely too. Parking was great and location was easy to find. The accommodation was not very clean, considering we paid extra for dogs, it just felt grubby. Bed was too small and would have liked to have known before we stayed it might have been a noisy night as a function was on at the pub. It was a very noisy night, has to phone for a hair dryer as missing from the room.

• AMEM (7/5): Delightful riverside pub - The location near the river and marina was beautiful. The old part of the pub is full of charm and character and the bedroom, whilst .modern quite pleasant. Food very good in the restaurant. The macerator in the bathroom was a little irritating

• Maria (2/5): - Beautiful view and surroundings. At check in I was told I hadn't paid but I had, was amended when manager assisted. The sofa in room was very badly stained in a number of places very un hygienic, carpet stained in a number of places, bed sheets stained, leaking towl rail, broken toilet seat, exposed wires in landing light directly out side our room and a number of cob webs. I have reported to booking.com which have been helpful. They have tried to contact the property twice regarding this matter but have had no response as of yet.
• Christine (8/5): Peaceful stay out from St Ives - This is a lovely country hotel in idyllic surroundings. It is nicely decorated and the restaurant offers great food. On a rather warm evening we really enjoyed sitting at our picnic table watching the activity on the river. There was no cooling of a very hit room. A fan or air conditioner is warranted. There was also a very loud annoying intermittent noise which I think was a water pump turning on each time we or other close clients used the toilet or sink.

• Jane (8/5): Myself and Dad had a wonderful evening watching the children playing/swimming in the river. - The outside area was lovely with great views over the Marina and river Ouse. There was plenty of seating/tables for all and a nice terrace for outside eating. It was great to see the children, parents and dogs having fun and making the most of the wonderful weather. The rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very accommodating as it was a muggy night, meaning the rooms were stuffy but they gratefully provided us with fans for the rooms. The menu was a bit limited and the food wasn't great, plus the interior of the pub was dark and unwelcoming. Thankfully, we were able to sit outside all night due to it being a warm evening.

• clare (8/5): A beautiful and peaceful location. - The location is beautiful. Very peaceful. Comfy bed. The picnic outside the rooms is a lovely extra. Bathroom needed a little tlc but was functional. A blind at the bathroom window for privacy would have been better rather than just obscure glass. A little more attention to cleaning and a new rubber bath mat as ours was old/dirty.

• david (3/5): Don’t Bother - Location Everything like sleeping in a building site, inside bar so dark and so very noisy during the night in all a bad experience and an expensive one!
• Shelagh (9/5): Lovely setting but needs to address some issues . - The location was very attractive but a little bit out of the way. The dog chalet was excellent for us and our dog and was very clean with comfortable beds The food was tasty and reasonably priced and the staff very helpful . Parking was a challenge when we arrived. Although we could take the dog into the bar but not the restuarant....which is ok...but for the fact that the bar was packed with dog lovers and two huge loud tables of young men which made conversation impossible. The chalet floor was totally uncarpeted and extremely cold on the feet and slippery when wet.
