Guest Reviews
- Vinodha (9/5): - Approach was difficult for the taxi
- Kateryna (9/5): We enjoyed our stay - So peaceful and quiet, we had a nice view on trees from the balcony. The hosts were very kind and friendly, the room was comfortable and clean
- Gabriela (10/5): - Todo pero Ketut lo mejor. Súper atenta y amable ❤️
- Nele (10/5): Alles tip top! - Tolles Homestay!
- Adrienn (9/5): - It is all perfect, take your earplugs with you because of animal noises, except that everything was just
Ras
- Patrick (7/5): - Great location away from madness of main Ubud streets but just a short walk to bars and restaurants, and also some nice scenic walks. Room was a little rustic and could have been more comfortable.
Lots of bright lights outside the window and the curtains were close to see through, so a bit frustrating at night.
- Sabriye Serap (10/5): Very nice place and friendly owner - Owner was very polite and friendly. It was a quite place near the center. Breakfast was delicious.

- Karen (8/5): Welcoming, peaceful compound in Ubud - What was not to like about the property? It’s centrally located but away from the busyness of Ubud. My room was spacious and inviting. The shower was beautifully decorated. The ac blew cold. There was a patio and an outdoor kitchen area with hot plate, dishes, utensils, a sink, and a fridge. The breakfast was quite good, too. Best of all, Koming and her family were super nice and helpful. I felt so welcome in their compound. The room had a strong moldy smell that didn’t go away, even with the windows open. This is the only reason I rated the property an 8 instead of a 10.
- Lynelle (9/5): Superb - The whole family was very friendly, hospitable, and accommodating to me. I'd stay here again when I come back to Ubud. The property is also surrounded by nature, which I liked.
- Ruby (10/5): Exceptional - Owner responsive and helpful on WhatsApp and his mother was super sweet. It was inside of a traditional Balinese complex but well maintained and decorated with a lovely view of the village. The place is not off main streets so could be a bit difficult to get Grab or Gojek, but it's not far from the centre at all. Nothing
- Nina (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay here!
The place feels incredibly cozy, just like home from the very first moment.
It’s a family-run guesthouse, and you can truly feel the warmth and care in everything: clean, peaceful, and full of heart.
All the shops and cafes are just a 7-minute walk away - perfect location: quiet, but close to everything.
Thank you for the atmosphere! We’ll definitely be back
- Suzanne (7/5): Overall this accommodation was OK nice for a short stay. - The family are very nice and friendly. The accommodation was adequate within a family complex. Good choices for breakfast. The accommodation was a fair walk away from the main shops etc, last bit of the walk is down a dimly lit lane. Steep steps leading up to the room so not good if you have mobility issues. Most early mornings there was nearby fires so unable to enjoy the lovely outdoor sitting area until around 8am. Lastly the bed and other furniture has active termites in it so was a little disappointed and needed to get my luggage fumigated before returning to AU.
- Neneh (8/5): Good kitchen and WiFi - Nestled away from some of the chaos of Ubud. It is very quiet and close to nature. The kitchen and balcony are very useful spaces.
Good WiFi and well
Thought out furniture in the room. You are looking directly into another property.
The locals burn plastic rubbish sometimes.
The room can smell quite mouldy.
- Phoenix (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect and the family is so amazing, nice and helpful! I felt like in my family and I already love them all. I already want to come back!!! Nothing (everything was perfect!)
- Petra (10/5): Peaceful place near Art Market - Really kind people made us feel like at home! We liked breakfast on our terrace. The internet was also stable, and we could work from there (video calls, etc.). It is near the city center, 15 minutes from the Art Market.
We enjoyed playing with little dog and cat in the garden.
Peaceful stay. Even though I am very noise sensitive, I enjoyed. You can hear some roosters in the morning - but it didn't bother me. Mold. My leather jacket was fully covered with mold after 20 days in the room, still trying to recover it :(
Isolation is not very strong, so we were struggling with lizards in the room occasionally.
- Michele (10/5): A hidden gem with everything you need! - The room had everything needed for my week stay. The family is so sweet. It felt like a true home away from home, tucked away so it was quiet but close enough to the palace and busy areas to walk. The breakfast includes picking from a menu (not just toast like some places), and loved everything I tried! They even have a mosquito plug in the room and brought the mosquito incense every morning outside.
The only thing I didn’t like was the shower setup, tended to spray up above my head so I had to take it off of the hook and use the handle.
- Emile (10/5): Heartwarming experience - Fantastic stay in an authentic Balinese guesthouse with the loveliest hosts ever. When they say they take their guests as family, it is not just words... They do it for real. The room is clean, the bed extremely comfortable. I can't recommend it enough!
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and welcoming staff, clean and absolutely comfortable room.
- Edward (9/5): Superb - Large room with large bathroom and a very nice host. Great breakfast
- Julien (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect, from when we arrived until our departure. We felt very welcome here and experienced a real Balinese homestay. 100% recommended Nothing
- David (9/5): Superb - Friendly hosts, always ready to help. Good location a short walk to the center but far enough away from the noise and pollution. Big, spacious room with lots of shelves, nice private terrace with fridge, dishes and a water dispenser. Good hot water and water pressure. They offer a nice breakfast and even meals at other times (at reasonable prices) if you're feeling lazy to go out, but there are plenty of warungs and convenience stores in the neighborhood if you're not. The only real minus is the musty smell in the room. They sealed off the air vents with plastic, which keeps the mosquitos out but also impedes air circulation and the fan and aircon only help a bit with this. It would be better if they replaced the plastic with mesh.
- Tanja (10/5): Wonderful location and host family - Wonderful unique homestay, overlooking a beautiful forest while still being in walking distance to nice sights in Ubud and great restaurants and the art market. The owners are very nice and took great care of us, even water was provided, tea and coffee. I wouldn’t say it’s a dislike but being close to the forest, you will of course hear and meet animals , there was some noise of animals on the roof at night, at first I was a bit scared haha but it might have been just a cat, mouse or wild bird. So nothing bad per se bad, but good to be aware of.
- Naved (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (8/5): Lovely Homestay - Lovely place. Nice terrace to sit on.
I had breakfast as an extra and it was nice and good value.
The shower was hot.
There was no traffic noise. However, there were other buildings around so there was noise from them.
About 15 minutes to walk to downtown. The bathroom needs an update but was ok.
The bathroom floor tiles and the steps up to the room were slippy when wet.
- Jayden (10/5): Absolutely loved my stay with Eka and Koming in their Balinese compound. Thank you so much for making me feel welcome 🙏 - Absolutely loved my stay with Eka and Koming in their Balinese compound. Thank you so much for making me feel welcome 🙏 highly recommend staying with this lovely family!!
- Xuaner (10/5): I lived in a beautiful room surrounded by greenery and impressed by the amazing host and their servi -
- Olof (10/5): Excellent host! - The owner, Eka is the nicest man we meet in Bali! He offers great hospitality and really makes you feel at home.
Room is very clean with a big bathroom. Location is nice, quite central but still away from all of the noice and crowds. The curtains could be better at prohibiting sunlight from brightening up the room in the early morning but that’s only personal preference.
- Camille (10/5): Exceptional - The room was super clean and nicely decorated and the host was so nice and welcoming ! I loved that it's an actual homestay with the rooms being next to where the family lives. Great value for the price, I loved staying at Umah Ubud Guesthouse and would definitely go back, it was perfect !
- Darouny (10/5): Perfect - Very nice thank you so much 🙏😊
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Very friendly and helpful hosts, good & reliable WiFi, a lovely little balcony, and nicely isolated from everyday street noise. :-) Unfortunately, relatives within the family compound were constructing two new units during my stay, so many mornings started with hammering and sawing before 8am. :-(
So, ask if there will be construction during your stay dates. If so, and you want to sleep in (or need quiet for video conferencing, etc.), it may be an issue.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - A clean room in a quiet compound. About 20 minutes from the center of Ubud. Overlooking the jungle. Lots of chickens and geckos. Fantastic dogs to win over. A welcoming host family. Our time there was perfect.
- Garry (8/5): Very good - Nice clean room.
Interesting setting within a local enclave. Bike parking not particularly secure (although it was a quiet street)
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalya (10/5): Lovely stay - An absolutely lovely little place, typical Balinese house with lovely owners. They were kind enough to prepare breakfast early for me since I was departing on a organized trip at 7am. It was a very good experience 🙏
- Maria (9/5): Good value for money and nice place to stay - Good location (10 min walk to the center), clean and spacious room, kitchen, very friendly staff. It was damp inside, but I think it's a common problem for Ubud.
- Camilla (7/5): A Very Nice Place but noisier than expected! - A "Jungly Vibe", very nicely furnished. Cute bathroom and had a clean sufficient kitchen space. A very lovely and endearing lady. Unexpectedly noisy. Neighbour was hammering and sawing well into the evening. Roosters in the early am but I usually beat them by waking up before they do, ("the Bali Alarm"). Unfortunately, a heavy mold smell inside which I do not do well with.
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional - It was my favorite accommodation in Bali, I felt totally homely and the room was very nicely furnished.
The family helped me at all times and gave me advice on what to do around Ubud.
I would come back anytime.
- Natalie (8/5): Quiet, beautiful family B&B. - Very wonderful family run business. It was great to stay in a local Balinese compound. Koming was very helpful and friendly, The family is there, really cute dog that loves pets. The room was clean. Lovely outdoor area with chairs table, kitchenette and fridge, as well as fresh water supply for teas and to fill water bottle. A little further away from the main strip which is great if you are renting a scooter, if walking it is a little bit of a hike up from the main parts, but no more than 10 minutes. Very good hot water and pressure in the shower, unique shower set up with stones was something I haven't seen before. Aircon works very well. Bathroom is a little dark, there were ants in the room the first night, however I didn't see them the other three nights. The only issue I had was that I paid for laundry service, but recieved back my clothes still damp and I had to hang dry them at my next location. But overall that's not a huge issue as I stayed somewhere not far away.
- Cristina (10/5): Thank you for your kindness! Suksama! <3 - I was welcomed to be part of their family and whenever I needed something, they would help me. They have included me in their family celebrations during the Balinese new year and because of this I had an amazing cultural experience. Forever grateful for their hospitality!
- Natalia (10/5): I loved my time there and wanted to extend my stay but both rooms were already booked by other customers. It is one of - I loved my stay with Koming and her lovely big family!
The atmosphere there is so nice, the family is very welcoming and children are excessively cute:)) Koming is a wonderful host, very honest and a bit reserved, she worked as an English teacher before (but was forced to quit her job because of sickness of her daughter) and her English is great. Koming’s mother (who looks like her sister:)) is a charming and wonderful lady. I just fell in love with this family! Koming and her family own 2 rooms and the rest of the rooms in their house belong to her uncle, as far as I understand.
One room, on the upper floor, is more modern and new and has a view from the top. It is very beautiful!
The room where I stayed in the basement is older and made in traditional style. It has its own wonderful kitchen and boasts 5 times more kitchenware than at the place where I am staying now with a communal kitchen serving 7 rooms:) I spent a lot of time outside of the room on the terrace (which is combined with the kitchen) making tea, coffee, having snacks, fruits, etc. As the icing on the cake, when you wake up in this room (or just spend time inside), you have a feeling that you are sleeping in the garden thanks to many windows . Such a divine and cozy feeling.
Last but not least: I was stunned to discover a gorgeous big “temple” (as I initially thought) just a 2-minute walk from Umah Ubud. It popped up in front of me out of nowhere. As I found out, it is a house of one of the princes’s of Ubud (if the information is correct) and he restored it about 10 years ago. The palace has an aquarium inside and boasts with bright lights of different colors in the evening. Behind it up the hill you will find a cute peaceful rice field. It is very beautiful by day and night! Puri Langon is a hidden gem and is much more beautiful than famous temples in the center of Ubud. It is highly recommended to visit it. You will be definitely surprised! Small sink in the bathroom that was not very convenient to use 😊
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - Host are friendly and helpful
- Antonio (9/5): Superb - Really quiet place with the occasional roosters making noise. Simple effective decor. Behind is the start of a popular hike amongst the rice fields There wasn't enough sun during the day to dry the clothes
- Joanne (9/5): Superb - Quiet location but still very close to Ubud centre
Beautifully clean and well appointed room
Comfiest bed I’ve had in Bali
- Michelle (9/5): Fantastic value and location. I had a wonderful stay. - Very cosy private room and bathroom with nice balcony, you can watch the sunset. I love the shower , it was huge and beautifully decorated with stones. Very good vibes from place and owners who were exceptionally friendly. Cute kids living there too. I felt very safe here so would recommend to solo female travellers. Fruit market is 5min walk too, great mangos! A lot of things to do in walking distance. The roosters will wake you up at around 4-5am! But I think roosters are everywhere around the area, you can’t really avoid them. This forced me to get up early so I didn’t mind too much.
- Demet (9/5): Superb - The stuff was so kind and helpful for everything i need. This is the best homestay that you can find for this price. Location is just 15 min walk from the Ubud center.
- Gary (10/5): I could have stayed forever. - This is my 4th visit to Bali and I usually stay at a resort or private villa. I have to say it meant more to me to stay with a local Balinese family than all my other stays. It was humbling and true to the real side of Bali life.
I felt very welcomed and safe. There is nothing I didn’t like.
- Anonymous (10/5): Peaceful and clean private accommodation in a real balinese family context - This b&b does not offer only a clean, safe, peaceful and comfortable room with a nice view on the jungle and close to the center (10 Min walking distance from the Ubud palace) but it gives the opportunity to make a real emotional life experience.
You will be in a Balinese family context.
Koming and Eka live at the ground floor with their sweet daughter while the guest room is 1st floor. They are very helpful, respectful and customers oriented.
Breakfast homemade, fresh and tasteful.
Private bathroom in the room.
Drinkable water available just outside of the room.
This is a highly recommended place for your stay in Ubud!
@ Koming and Eka: I will never forget you and the special light in your eyes…
Thank you, dear friends! Nothing
- Kory (10/5): Famtastic; great hosts, clean, and good location - Fantasic place, really enjoyed it. The host family was very kind and welcoming. Good location and very clean. I highly recommend seeing the kecak dance at the local temple (Thursdays and Sundays); beautiful!
- Deborah (10/5): From the moment we arrived they were welcoming and went about and beyond beautiful breakfast wonderful family. Helping u - The property was beautiful clean and welcoming the bed was comfortable just has it looked in the picture Nothing
- Vincent (10/5): Best Homestay at Ubud, very near to the market and still very peaceful locality. Highly recommendable. Value for money - Best host i must say- Mrs Coming is a great host. Very humble, polite and friendly. She took care of our each and every needs and provided us with all sorts of amenities which one could ever ask for.
Very peaceful and safe location, no disturbance at all.
The rooms were very cozy.
The bed was very comfy and bouncy.
Blankets and towels were neat and clean.
We were also provided with international charging facility which was very very needful that helped us in charging our phones cameras and all other gadgets.
There were big glass windows and doors which let the sunlight pass in during the day time provided with big curtains too👍🏼
The washroom was big enough provided with soap, shampoo, tissue paper and a rack to hang our towels, the shower was awesome with both hot & cold water 24hrs available, even the water pressure was very high👍🏼
They have scooter rental and taxi pick up and drop facilities too👍🏼
They also serve breakfast lunch and dinner which was very very tasty and healthy, you need not go anywhere outside for food simply order and the food is served within 20 mins, and the prices were also cheaper from the restaurants 👍🏼
We were also provided with a personal fridge and a kitchen with gas stove and also a dining table, most importantly free WATER which is very costly at Bali🙏🏼
PROS:-
1. Host
2. Service
3. Location
4. Food & free WATER
5. Comfort
6. Rooms
7. Scooter
8. Wifi
9. Peace of mind😇 Nothing 😊
- Charles (10/5): Great quiet place not far off from centre - Lovely family that took care of me, super friendly. Comfortable bed, clean, very quiet and felt secluded. Lovely terrace over the jungle as a bonus, great sunlight in the afternoon None for me, but if animals are a huge turn off I'd opt for less traditional facilities: it's in the jungle like most of Ubud, and jungle means animals ;)
- Kim (10/5): I had a very happy and relaxing stay and Koming and her husband, Eka, are lovely and welcoming. - Koming made a wonderful breakfast, which she brought to my balcony. The room was well maintained during my stay. Close to the centre of town, in a quiet area. It would have been nice to have a small fridge as I like to bring my own milk. And maybe a hook to hang your towel in the bathroom.
- Monica (9/5): Superb - A lovely spacious upstairs room with a big bathroom and a verandah overlooking the gardens in a big family compound. Such friendly people and a unique experience of the family compound. I would rebook. If unable to walk for approx 3 minutes along a paved driveway the location could be a problem and of course a flight of stairs.
- Nour (10/5): Amazing - Very clean and comfortable.
The hosts are amazing, really kind and very helpful.
They made our stay a real good experience.
The host also took us for an amazing tour around Ubud to visit local rituels and he was always willing to help and answer our questions.
Totally recommend it
- Melissa (10/5): Very cute room and helpful owner - The room is clean and cosy, the bed is confortable. There is a lot of storage space, and 24/24h access to a drinking water fountain. I really recommend spending sunsets on the balcony/terrace. The owner prepared a book with information about the places to visit all around Bali.
The room is cleaned daily and the owner is very kind and willing to help.
I tried also the breakfast options and they were always tasty.
The place is about 10mn by walk from the main street, making it both convenient and away from the scooters noise.
- Carla (9/5): Great 👍 - Very clean place, bed super comfy, great shower, WiFi and location. The owners are absolutely lovely and they're ready to help if you have any problems. There you can also rent a scooter and they offer laundry service. The breakfast is delicious and super worth the price!
- Dorottya (9/5): Great budget friendly option, lovely stay - I had a really warm welcome at Umah Ubud. Stayed here for 2 weeks and it was comfortable and very quiet. It’s a great location, the town centre is just a 10 minute walk but still a very quiet location, shops and laundrette are very close by. The owners were really lovely and helped me a lot with transport and also what to see around Ubud. The breakfasts were so delicious, I had vegan banana pancakes and nasi goreng and they were super tasty. Overall I had a great time here, it’s a great budget friendly option for an Ubud stay. The bathroom light was a bit too dim.
- Lena (10/5): Exceptional - As soon as we arrived the family were really friendly and made us feel so welcome. This place is a very traditional home from home stay and you get to see how a family lives in Bali. This is just what we were looking for.
The room is seperate and private from the family's, you have a small set of stairs up to a balcony where you have a table and chairs and then sliding doors that lead on to a bedroom with en-suite toilet and shower.
The place was clean, tidy and the bed was so big and comfortable, perfect for two people.
We had a lovely breakfast every morning, with a choice of omelette or pancakes and fresh fruit, with tea and coffee. Cooked by our lovey host Koming, it was delicious and great value. She will also cook other meals on request.
Komings husband Eka also picked us up and and dropped us of at the airport for a very reasonable price and was so friendly and helpful, this made us feel so at ease.
This place is a fantastic place to stay with amazing people. On leaving we felt like part of the family. We will definitely be back.
Thank you 😊
