Guest Reviews
- Cathryn (8/5): All good - Location
Allowed bike storage in our room
Lovely friendly staff especially in the evening.
Food in pub was nice
- Andrew (7/5): - No breakfast was available Cycle storage
- Renato (7/5): -
- Little (7/5): -
- Jaqualine (9/5): - It is convient for me as my brother doesn't live too far away.A six minute walk. I was there for three nights & expected my bin to be emptied at least after two..That is just a small observation.
- Tarik (10/5): -
- Amanda (1/5): Disappointed! - We liked the fact that the location was perfect for what we needed. First of all the door didn't lock. We sought assistance from one of the staff, a young lad, who tried his very best but ended up having to ring his manager while attempting to identify the problem. The lock was broken so we ended up having to push the sofa up against the door for safety as the other room wasn't available.
Even if the door had locked, the room was freezing cold. The heating went off and on all night long, but it was only in short bursts (which was very noisy as the boiler is on the main wall of bedroom area)
Bathroom was ok, although around the toilet wasn't very clean, it definitely hadn't been checked or cleaned just before we arrived as the bin hadn't been emptied either, there was a Monster energy drink can in it.
Single beds were clean and comfy but very small.
We were awake all night.
The manager informed us to call in before we left in the morning for some kind of reimbursement. Although the lights were on it was all locked up and we couldn't get an answer so we deposited the key into the box and left. I did leave a message but as yet have had no response.
The location was ideal, thats why we chose to stay here for the night, as we were attending a family wedding very close by.
It was a very disappointing end to a lovely day.
- Taylor (5/5): - Location was good food in restaurant was nice Bed and pillow's were so uncomfortable had to get pillow changed when we arrived as it was all burst and inside was hanging out pillow's were flat and soft mattress was same ,didn't get good night's sleep we left a day early as I have disabilitys and I was very sore with laying in the bed not good .
- Paul (6/5): - I was informed on arrival that they no longer do breakfast ??? I was told this has been the case since last year ? That’s not true as I’ve stayed regularly. Only 2 months ago I received a wonderful breakfast but not any more it seems.
- Munkyle (10/5): -
- steven (9/5): - Love the fact the room's are not in the pub building, plenty space in the rooms, nice to have seats outside to enjoy the sun, nice beer garden in pub. Tv needs to be on a swivel mount, shower tiles could do with a deep clean and some gaps around tiles and taps in shower, Could definitely do with another window on the bed wall.
- Neil (8/5): -
- andrew (9/5): - The Half Moon rooms are lovely and clean, and was ideal for what I needed. Everything was lovely although the food is a little overpriced.
- anna (10/5): - Lovely staff room clean and fresh sheets smelt like comfort! Nice coffee
- 2905e2e2019b70787d965e7fedbdca6e (10/5): Excellent work and great people. - I did not have breakfast. What I can say is Joseph and Kerys were excellent Team players and demonstrated excellent leadership, tenacity, professionalism and commitment.
Joseph was particularly great with early check in . I can’t think of anything just stop giving great service.
- 91559b1e0c8b711948641a4da7e0e408 (2/5): - Food was good if expensive Room was grubby, outdated (we stayed there 36 years ago and it was great then) the beds were really uncomfortable, place smelled and the carpet was covered in stains
- 844b5b0638b2722482c95953d1e3bd24 (8/5): Ok - Local to where we needed Room was clean but a few things needed sorting, no door handle on bathroom, door locked wasn’t very good or safe, toilet seat wobbled
- 303017e5501f701120319b42a7205fab (8/5): - The noise of the boiler kept me awake but I just switched it off and all was ok
- Hingley (7/5): As a Bar /Restaurant . Could not be beat .,!! Photos of rooms appear out of date - Bar , Restaurant , Food , Staff . Room , needed TLC., Not as photos ., Main door /lock needed attention., / Handle missing of Toilet / Shower room door . , Toilet seat required adjustment / new fittings
Shower accessories not adequate for a four night stay .
Tea / Coffee not adequate , not replenished .
Beer garden not in use ., although not warm , would have been somewhere to sit with dog .
- Auchterlonie (10/5): -
- Kirsty (5/5): It was acceptable but I would not rush back - It was available at very short notice It was in a car park. It was cold and smelled of damp
- Brooks (3/5): So much potential! - Nice food at lunch and dinner at the restaurant. 1. No breakfast provided, even though inferred on their website.
2. Television did not work properly - no plug socket close to bed where you could charge and stream in phone.
3. Excessive external noise from main roads.
4. No way of contacting - voicemail box full!!
5. No reply to email requesting VAT invoices for the stay.
- William (10/5): Great affordable accommodation which gives you access to the northeast coastline. - Affordable, comfortable, loads of parking space, excellent food served in their restaurant and friendly pub. All round excellent trip. All good
- Joy (10/5): Loved the roomy rooms - It’s is spacious and warm Na
- Amanda (10/5): - Nice comfy room separate from the main pub. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Great dog friendly place to stay. Food at the pub is exellent
- Ian (6/5): - Staff & food really good and pub very pleasant atmosphere & busy Room very cold & tired, boiler kept kicking in but no heat generated to radiator
- kevin (6/5): A comfy chalet next to a good pub with friendly staff but let down by poor Wi-Fi coverage. - I stayed in one of the comfy chalets which was well furnished. The pub restaurant was handy and served a range of hearty and well-cooked traditional dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful. No WiFi in the chalets which is a headache for business travellers. Decent coverage could only be found in the bar area. The shower produced lukewarm water.
- Munkyle (10/5): Great stay for work -
- JOSEPH (4/5): My plans were totally disrupted after knowing breakfast had been terminated, I had a 4 hour journey - I booked on a bed and breakfast basis , on arrival/check in I was informed the establishment no longer served breakfast I booked on a bed and breakfast basis the establishment advertised the fact that a full English breakfast was included in the price of the room . On arrival I was informed they no longer provided breakfast which was most dissatisfatory, had i have known i would not have Booked I would have chosen an establishment that provided breakfast as I was travelling back to Lancashire that morning
- Jaqualine (9/5): - I was visiting my brother & this was the closest place to stay.It was lovely warm & I could get GBNEWS on the tele.We had Sunday lunch there & it was well worth the money. Their wasn't anything I didn't like.
- Jean (7/5): - Room ok. Breakfast excellent and on time. The Inn is on the corner of a major roundabout and the traffic noise never seemed to cease.
- Emma (8/5): Wonderful relaxing stay - The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.I stayed with my husband for two nights on our fifth wedding anniversary.
The room was nice, everything was clean, lovely shower and a TV,just across the car park from the pub. The bed was very comfortable and there was water, tea and coffee and bonus hot chocolate :D
Bonus points for having a hairdryer in the drawer and mini fridge.
Sadly no WiFi in the rooms but no big deal :) - available in the restaurant next door
We met the owners as we were about to leave I believe but either way super friendly, lovely people.
I only managed to take a photo of the bed haha but either way it was lovely.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.
We didn't use the restaurant only to have a quick drink but the food looked and smelled nice.(Will definitely sample a Sunday roast hopefully next time) :D
Seemed busy too but did not impact the ability to sleep in any way.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Julia (9/5): Nice accommodation for a few days whilst visiting family. - The breakfast was fantastic. Dog friendly room with own front door on ground floor. Bathroom needed a small unit or shelf for toiletries - plenty of room behind door for one.
- Keith (10/5): - Central location for visiting the surrounding area. Accommodation is of a high standard and staff are very friendly and helpful It is unfortunate there is no Wifi within the accommodation. Not essential.
- Rongfeng (10/5): -
- Ingus (7/5): - Got promised to get invoice on email and never recived. If someone requesting invoicr please print out.
- Amanda (10/5): - Lovely accommodation, always made to feel welcome I was only there for one night
- Kev (7/5): -
- Kate (9/5): -
- William (3/5): Was worried about my health due to mould and smell - Rooms smelt of mould
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Angela (8/5): - Excellent restaurant food. Mold in grouting & around base of shower.
Beds comfortable with thick mattress toppers - but needing h airing. Matress very worn, needing freshening up ?
Road noise a bit of a problem for light sleeper!(
- Louise (10/5): Great find - Good size room and en suite bathroom with own entrance. Nicely decorated. Very comfortable with everything I needed. I would have liked the socket to charge phone accessible while in bed but really all the positives outweigh this.
- Carlaw (10/5): -
- Steven (9/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): As Expected Staff Wonderful and helpful - Basic but everything you’d need, clean and easy parking N/a
- Gary (10/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): - The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It has everything you need. Nothing to dislike
- michelle (9/5): Great stay, great value for money and great location to reach other places! I’ll be back! - Self contained, value for money and has everything needed.
Second time staying and would return Property is absolutely fine however the mattress is a little thin
- John (10/5): friendly staff - carefully prepared breakfast can't think of anything we didn't like
- Michael (8/5): - The staff The location
- Paul (6/5): -
- Brian (7/5): - Let down by the dirty shower
Otherwise a nice place
But clean is important
- Edward (9/5): - Room was spacious and comfortable Heating and hot water was not working well, after letting staff know it was fixed straight away
- Alison (8/5): - Great size rooms and great facilities. Rooms were very cold and difficult to heat, maybe an additional plug in heater would be a good addition for the winter. Bathroom doors could do with some attention as they didn't shut properly.
- Anastasiia (10/5): -
- David (7/5): Pleasant but room for improvement - Good location and good tea, coffee and water. room was clean and bed fairly comfortable. Pipes to the boiler in the room were exposed and the cover was not secure. The bathroom would benefit from hooks on the door for towels and a shelf above the sink for personal items.
- Kev (9/5): -
- Nigel (6/5): -
- michelle (8/5): Lovely airy room with everything you needed - defo recommend to others - Clean and fresh
Fridge with fresh water supplied and tea coffee etc.
Comfortable bed - appreciate Boiler in the same room and quite noisy albeit turned the radiator down
Couldn’t get the TV to work on the channels - nothing in the room to advise passcodes etc
- Paul (8/5): - The staff are always welcoming and the breakfast is lovely Not applicable
- Helen (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Lovely pub. Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Would be nice if the bar had a local real ale
- John (10/5): Friendly and helpful staff - Freshly cooked breakfast had lots of options.
We had the evening meal. Chose the special pizza from the blackboard - very good. Can't think of anything
- Alison (8/5): - The rooms were a great size and the beds were very comfy. Having a mini fridge in the room was also a great touch. The bathroom door wouldn't shut and it didn't have a handle on the outside or a lock. As the rooms were very large they were difficult to heat so maybe a plug in heater for the winter would be handy.
- Stephen (8/5): - Wonderful staff and food We were told our room was due an update so put up with it
- William (7/5): The Half Moon was convenient to visit family - The door to the bathroom was missing a handle and could not be closed.
The toilet seat was broken and needs replacing.
The shower had mould.
It was cold in the bathroom.
- Kate (8/5): -
- matthews (7/5): -
- Darren (9/5): Would stay there again! - Stayed 4 nights 2 rooms. Free private parking. Restaurant onsite with great food options - you got to have the Sunday Roast! Staff very helpful. Breakfast included and was very good. Restaurant is open 12-9pm and Sunday Roasts 12-8pm. As the restaurant / bar is open to the public could get quite noisy at closing time on busy nights. If returning from going out during the day, it could be difficult to get a car park if the restaurant is busy - just a matter of waiting a while.
- Donald (10/5): Nice room with small fridge in which is very handy - N/A. Can’t think of anything
- Aisha (8/5): - Really comfy bed, own boiler to control heating Shower wasn’t the cleanest
- Budgie49 (8/5): - Hot water
Fantastic breakfast
Fluffy towels
Parking outside
Nice pub for evening meal Basic accomodafion
- Lauren (10/5): Had a great stay, bed was really comfy and appreciated the ammenaties inside the room. - The rooms are separate from the Inn (across the car park, 20 second walk) but it means you don’t have any noise disturbance from the Inn.
- Jon (6/5): -
- Fitzsimmons (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): -
- LT (4/5): - Comfortable bed The shower grout was very off putting!!
Shower cabinet very small
- Jill-Rhianna (8/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. Problems (firstly I couldn't get the bathroom lights to turn on and someone came and sorted that, then there was an anomaly with the shower and a duty manager showed up!)
Well stocked (with quality items!) Hospitality Tray. Even a little fridge with cans of mineral water.
Thick, squishy mattress topper - ideal for the long distance driver's rest and recuperation.
Best of all : a big comfy armchair to just flop into when you arrive tired after a long day. So many rooms just have a bucket chair or even just the bed.
- Brian (9/5): Great one night stop - Accommodation away from main building with gravelled parking area. Room spacious if a little spartan looking. Didn't use TV etc but all items worked. Bed very clean, tidy & comfortable. Quiet area despite near a roundabout. Shower fine, hot & cold water and good thick towels. Drainage from shower a little slow & fearful of an overflow - didn't happen! Room had only two power points, Could do with more, especially near bedside area.
- Jemma (6/5): -
- Sarah (4/5): -
- Sophie (6/5): Convenient location for us, could have been a little cleaner. - Great location for us as we were visiting family nearby. Selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate was good. The boiler was quite loud constantly so was quite hard to sleep due to the noise. The bathroom had a damp smell to it and had quite a few cobwebs, we felt this could have been cleaner. When we arrived it was quite cold in the room and the bedding felt damp (it was just cold). Would have been nice if perhaps the heating was on before we arrived to take the chill out of the air.
- Howard (1/5): Dont expect a warm welcome - Room was ok Booked as onsite restaurant and we were having a family get together for the night. What they didn't advise, at booking, was you had to reserve a table if you wanted to sit after 8pm due to a quiz night. Tables could be reserved but because we they didn't tell us we didn't know. My uncle reserved a table, however, they didn't tell him he could only have it till 8pm. We went elsewhere because we wanted to have the full evening together but this meant we had to drive so unable to have a drink. The lady was VERY dismissive when I asked why they didn't tell us and give us the chance to reserve a table. The young guy started to tell us about another area where we could have a drink but she shot him down and said no there was no where. Breakfast was ok
- Noorazmaddy (10/5): Sweet Home For A Night - Bathroom very nice, so clean and all in working order.
Fridge with free mineral water in can.
Bed and mattresses are so comfy.
Coffee, tea, milk and kettle included for free. Its a bonus.
TV but no time to watch.
We're allowed to bring our own baby cot for our grandaughter 6 month of age and just perfect with big space in room.
Breakfast was massive portion and it lasts us until afternoon. Few choices of breakfast and we chose vegetarian.
Big car park and our room just closed to the mainroad but once door and window shut we cannot hear any noise.
Wish could stayed longer but even for only one night we're so happy with the accommodation and staffs are superb and very friendly. Might come back if ever we plan to go to Amble for a fresh seafood even we are almost 3 hour away but worth everything.
Highly recommended. We haven't got any negative thoughts. Sorry 👌
- maxine (2/5): Good place but very poor service - Booked breakfast and no one turned up to open up and cook it for us Paid and booked breakfast and didn’t get any
- Joe (5/5): Okay for a budget stay - The staff were very friendly. The room was in need of a good dusting, there were some spiders and cobwebs. The door to the room was quite stiff. The shower seemed to be blocked and overflowed.
- Paul (7/5): - The breakfast is superb always and staff courteous always Light didn’t work in bathroom
- Patricia (1/5): I did not feel safe staying there as a solo traveler. - The staff was friendly and the room was accessible. The door wouldn’t lock properly considering the room it’s at ground level in the car park. The room stank of perfume and didn’t feel clean.
- Tracey (10/5): - Lovely traditional pub. The food was lovely and reasonable prices. The rooms were large and clean. Nothing to dislike
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Ann (8/5): Absolutely perfect for our needs - Location is perfect for us. Also very convenient for the bus stop right outside. Might need some maintenance attention to bring the older building up to scratch for a higher quality feel.
- Michele (9/5): Lovely stay, very friendly & food was excellent - Very spacious and comfy Shower door iffy & towels a bit tired
- Ramsden (7/5): Good value for a one night stay - Friendly and helpful staff. Good food
Comfortable bed Shower room needed attention
No wifi in bedroom
- Gabi (8/5): -
- Lena (8/5): -
- Tina (10/5): Staff friendly - Very comfortable beds
- Michael (6/5): Adequate but needs some modernisation for value for money. - Breakfast was very good. Rooms are a good size. Beds - mattress too soft.
Shower/bathrooms need updated. Shower mouldy grout, shower cubicle very small. Leaked, poor drainage.
