Guest Reviews
- Extraordinary368908 (2/5): Historic Building, But a Very Disappointing and Noisy Stay - We stayed at this hotel in Antep for one night. Although the hotel is located in a historic building and the rooms were generally clean, our overall experience was a complete disappointment.
At check-in, I specifically asked the reception for a quiet room. However, this request was either ignored or we were clearly placed in the wrong room. Around 2:00 a.m., a tourist group arrived and the noise was as if it were inside our room: suitcase wheels, loud conversations and laughter. After that, I woke up several times throughout the night.
On top of that, the sound insulation was very poor. Noise from both the inner courtyard and the street came straight into the room, including car noises from outside. It felt like there was almost no barrier between the room and the surrounding noise.
Then, starting from around 6:00 a.m., the noise from the restaurant/service area began: metal tables and chairs being dragged, items scraping against the floor, and staff preparing for service. In other words, the night was noisy and the early morning was no better.
Also, considering that this is a historic building, I really do not understand how the facade closures and glass enclosures were allowed. In my opinion, these interventions seriously damage the historic character of the place.
In short, this stay turned into an ordeal rather than a chance to rest. The cleanliness and historic atmosphere unfortunately lose their value when faced with such a serious noise problem. It is unacceptable to misdirect a guest who specifically asks for a quiet room. I would not choose this hotel again.
- anton_sk87 (10/5): Weekend in Gaziantep - I had a wonderful stay at Sirehan Hotel in Gaziantep. This historic hotel, located right in the heart of the old city, offers a truly authentic atmosphere that reflects the rich heritage of the region.
The lobby is absolutely beautiful — spacious, full of character, and designed in a traditional style that immediately sets the tone for the stay. It feels more like stepping into a cultural landmark than just a hotel.
The rooms are cozy and generously sized, decorated in a charming old-style design. The bathroom, in particular, stands out with its unique traditional touch, adding to the overall experience.
I would say the hotel is perfectly comfortable for a few days in Gaziantep — a great base to explore the city while enjoying a calm and authentic environment.
Highly recommended for those who appreciate history, atmosphere, and a sense of place ✨
- Bilal (8/5): -
- Mohamed (8/5): - It is an authentic historical castle There is no gym and spa
- Hakki (10/5): Super - Magnifique super propre hôtel typique gaziantep je reviendrai
- Annie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kadriye Esma (10/5): - Sehr zentrales und sauberes Hotel. Viele Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fusslaufig zu erreichen. Die Unterkunft ist zu empfehlen!
- Sawsan (2/5): Uncomfortable - AC not working
- Hans (10/5): Overall is good. The location is excellent, minutes walk to the old town and bazaars - Rustic and it’s an ancient caravanserai so rather small room and dark. Lighting is poor in the room. As mentioned the room size and lighting is poor.
- SamWoodward (4/5): Shabby rooms, noisy, good location, decent breakfast - We were very disappointed in the Sirehan. The antique building is interesting, but the rooms do not justify the high prices.
As you can see in the pictures, the rooms are rundown, shabby and dirty looking (I forgot to take pix of the electrical outlets falling out of the wall). The slightly larger (but still cramped) upstairs rooms with windows on the street are very noisy during the day, and sound echoes around the stone walls inside the hotel too. You hear everything in the hallways and I imagine it would be cacophonous if there were an event (wedding, party) in the courtyard or the bar/lobby--thank god there weren't any during our two night stay. The lower floor rooms don't have outside windows and are gloomy. In fact all the rooms have a bit of a prison cell feeling to them. The TV remote was very hard to use (old, so the buttons didn't work well) and the battery compartments had no covers. That's not a killer fault, but is typical of the general lack of upkeep in the hotel. As one learns to expect in much of Türkiye, almost no one speaks English, so if you book here be sure to bring your phone with translation app.
The hotel is next to the old town bazaar (hence the street noise) and the breakfast buffet was pretty good.
That said, we would not stay in Sirehan again.
- Adelina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nathaniel (9/5): Superb -
- De (7/5): Good - Perfectly situated. There should be somebody that is capeble of understanding English at the reception. This is an international hotel.
Odaya ilk girdigimizde odalar soguktu bazi odalarda isitma yeterli degildi ama calisanlarin yaklasimi cok guzeldi her sorunumuzla ellerinden geldigince ilgilenmeye calistilar.
- Hamit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aldo (9/5): Superb - Hotel was good, very nice atmosphere in an old palace, right in the center of Gaziantep. Temperature was OK, cleanliness too. Parking is available. Sound insulation is not good, but luckily there was not much loud music or crowd in the hall so the overall experience was pleasant
- FloridaMarvin (6/5): Caravan Atmosphere - At first glance, and in what looks like a rather seedy part of town, we were skeptical. But this former Caravan Sarai had a lot of atmosphere. Fortunately, we were advised to book a quiet room. Those facing the large patio can be quite noisy when there is a wedding. The ancient room was clean and up to date with air conditioning and modern bathrooms. And the bazaar and restaurants close by were wonderful. Have your Google translator handy and the staff does not speak much English.
- aaron (2/5): - The front desk took an immediate dislike to me and the restaurant gave me a very bad case of food poisoning.
- Haluk (5/5): Passable - The breakfast was rich in variety but very inadequate in terms of hygiene.
- Emre (2/5): - Cok kotuydu temizlik su gitmiyordu dus yapamadik resmen perdeleri kapatalim dedik perde kafamiza dustu. Birde odanin girisine bu suru esya koymuslar odaya girerken parkurmak yapmamiz gerekti
- sirfraz (4/5): Short visit - Historical hotel and location don’t expect comfort or service
- Robert (10/5): Good hotel - Good hotel
- Hasan (10/5): - This place is amazing. We had a great stay at this authentic hotel combining history and luxury comfort. Staff were very polite and helpful. We enjoyed staying in our historical room.
- Rhonda (9/5): Superb - Hotel is in a great location, right beside the bazaar. The architecture of the hotel is really good - a very clever reinvention of an old building.
- Carl (9/5): Grewat stay in historic caravanserai - Great conversion of a large old caravanserai with very atmospheric bedrooms and bathrooms converted from the original sleeping quarters. A huge internal courtyard with plenty of space. Good breakfasts and very helpful staff. Excellent location next to the old Bazaar. Nothing!
- Fausto (7/5): Nice central location - Great building in a old caravanseray, there is a parking, staff is nice Need some maintenance, kitchen is not at Gaziantep level, quite difficult to reach by car
- Akif (2/5): Very poor - The hotel is very noisy and dated. Breakfast room is quite dirty and the food is not fresh. Staff weren’t welcoming. So nothing ticked the boxes…
- Caner (10/5): - Kahvaltı çok iyiydi. Otel personelinin eline sağlık. Çok memnun kaldık.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Banyoda her yer çok kirli. Şampuan yerine el sabunu koymuşlar.
- SLWS5775 (8/5): An Elegant Converted Caravanserai in Gaziantep - This was a favourite hotel in which to stay in Eastern Turkey. It is a converted, historic caravanserai. The rooms are a good size and the bathroom quite spacious. It's walking distance within the Old City and is really great for relaxing after a busy day. The service is good, and the people try to please. The staff do not speak English, so we had to use the app on our phone to communicate. I also understand that it is a good place to stay after all the earthquake tremors that the people experienced in Gaziantep. The people are still rebuilding after the events of Feb. 2023. So we are grateful that we could stay in such a lovely setting, given the circumstances. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Yüksel (10/5): - Das Personal ist sehr freundlich.Das Gästezimmer ist sauber.
Ein wunderschönes historisches Gebäude aus dem jahre 1855.
Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum der Stadt.Man kann zu Fuß fast alles erkunden.
- Padraig (8/5): Very good -
- rororejo (10/5): Your best hotel choice in Gaziantep - Probably the best place in Gaziantep, beautiful historic building in the old town, peaceful, good price, nice and helpful staff, spacious rooms. Excellent shower, AC works. Stayed here for a few months and coming back. Large restaurant and great courtyard to sit outside. As you walk into this building, you will immediately forget the more expensive business hotels elsewhere.
- Haisam (8/5): Very good -
- Edgar (6/5): Nice, but with inconvinience - It seems that the building is historical and well preserved. The parking is ample and it is located just behind the hotel. Despite the rooms needs ventilation, the facilities are clean. The hotel is located near to the Gaziantep Castle and some typical local restaurants. The staff is kind, but they do not speak English. Even the check in or the check out is a challenge. In general, the hotel needs ventilation, especially in some rooms. No occidental dishes or other options for breakfast are available. Thus the buffet consists of local dishes, no black coffee, no fried or scrambled eggs, etc. I asked several times for invoices of the stay and/or restaurant consumptions, but they were not able to send it. It supposes that it is a typical request in any hotel, but not here. Although someone at the front desk said they understood the request and promised to send it by email, they did not.
- Can (7/5): Good place, but took a couple of steps backwards in terms of service. - The last time I went to this place was back in 2014. It's in a good location and has a very unique feel. It's clean and the breakfast is tasty. The service. Quite slow, took 30 minutes for a sandwich (I must say it was 11PM). Also, had a problem with the payment, which I did before checking in. The receptionist insisted that wasn't the case and even though I showed the receipt, he tried to charge me again without asking. Checking out the next day, the problem was solved though.
- Nathalie (9/5): Superb -
- Jamal (10/5): Sr. - Muy bien
- Fatih (9/5): Superb - The staff was very friendly and every time with a smiley face. The location is great, the heart of Gaziantep.
- Jaynie (6/5): - A smokers paradise. If you love to smoke then this hotel is for you. Hotel is noisy and you can hear everything going on. Beds were comfortable and room has an old world charm. Breakfast is good with a lot of choices. Conveniently located.
- Miray (6/5): Great property, very poor management. Disappointed - Location and the building was beautiful. Authentic place Noise. I understand that this is a historical building and you cant cover it with plastic to improve the sound isolation but you can arrange your management rules accordingly. People were allowed to make noise, shout and wake everyone up at late hours Despite calling the reception several times, they did not manage to cut the noise and move the drunk noisy group out of the back yard where all rooms have window. Such property deserve a better management. I dont think it was worth the money.
- Altug (7/5): Good -
- Emre (8/5): Very good -
- Gokhan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gokhan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Altug (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jan (8/5): a large well run hotel with great historical value. comfortable and within walking distance to all we wanted to go to. o - staff were very helpful, wonderful ancient building with a fascinating history, could walk easily to everywhere we wanted. fabulous weddings held here.
- Christine (3/5): Area is lovely but hotel is tired rooms very dark hairdryer did not work - Location was good Breakfast same each day not enough choice no omelette station
- Arfan (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Merkezi ve temiz otel. - Aksam gec geldik, anahtarlari verdiler odanin nerde oldugunu soyleyip gonderdiler, kendimiz odayi bulduk, onun disinda genel olarak guler yuzlu calisanlar, temiz, komforlu odalar, gayet memnun kaldik.
- Mahmut Can (4/5): - Our stay at Şirehan Hotel was disappointing to say the least.
First of all, even though Expedia says this is a non-smoking hotel, it is not. As two non-smokers, our room was continuously filled with cigarette smoke and smell. When we spoke with the front desk about this, they confirmed that even though the rooms are "technically" non-smoking, people do smoke and they cannot enforce non-smoking policies.
Secondly, the Wi-Fi near our room continuously disconnected to the point where it was impossible to use it.
And finally the AC did not work properly. It was blowing cool air for sure but because of very poor insulation, it did not cool the room at all.
When we discussed these issues with the front desk, they were at least nice about it. But we ended up staying only one night of our 3 day Gaziantep trip. Got cash refund and booked another hotel.
I do not recommend Şirehan Hotel for those who want to visit Gaziantep. Especially if they are non-smokers.
- Murat (8/5): Very good -
- Ralph (8/5): - Hotel is beautiful and historic. Rooms are nice. However staff is neutral, not unfriendly but not friendly either. The friendliest staff were the parking attendants. No welcome and no engagement at all. Just "sign here" when checking in. Unusual for Turkey which is known for its friendly hospitable people. Breakfast staff was the same. One evening we went to sit in the beautiful courtyard to enjoy a drink. Altho there were waiters around, none came to ask if we wanted anything. So we just stayed there for half an hour and eventually just went back to our room. In a supposed "5" star hotel you shouldn't have to go looking for service. Breakfast was a very generous buffet offering and was fresh and inviting. Overall we were not unhappy with the hotel however would not rate it at 5 star. The service is lacking and there are definitely not 5 star touches. Ameneties are limited (not even a hamam), linens not premium, toiletries are basic and the same as any low grade hotel. The coffee tea in the room also basic. All this is fine if it isn't a 5 star hotel. But at this level you definitely expect more in the details. One one of the nights there was a graduation event in the courtyard. We were so tired from 8 hours of driving that day and wanted to sleep early (at around 10pm)But the music was so loud we couldn't even hear each other speak in our room and our bodies could feel the vibration of the music. We did not complain. We put ear plugs in and it finished somewhere before 12am
- AnanyaDutta (10/5): A caravan serai transforms into an amazing hotel - Sirehan is situated in the midst of the spectacular old Town of Gaziantep.
At reasonable expense you can experience the unique experience of living in an old caravan serai.
Excellent themed rooms, super service and a splendid breakfast spread with all the local and European options.
Highly recommended.
- Atakan (7/5): Good - the location is great the staff is has bad apples.
we stayed 2 days. no issues except for a bad neighboor one night. which the reception took care of it as soon as we called them at 4am.
- Jiawaz (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (10/5): A tremendous jewel. Fantastic owners. The stay couldn't have been improved. - Everything Nothing
- Ramadama (6/5): Average room - The hotel has some charm being an old caravanseria. The bathrooms are large with a shower. In our room the air conditioning was not working so the room was a little warm. The employees are very nice and helpful. Dinner was average for me where we were served a traditional turkish dish.
- Hamit (10/5): - Top Hotel sehr zentral gelegen.
- Garrett (8/5): - Doors were not secure locks difficult.
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, good value between price and quality
- Taha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hewa ali hussein (2/5): Bad food and hot room - The room was very hot even we turn on air condition but still hot and not cove room and when we wake up our body became wet like we swim
And breakfast was terrible most foods was old and not suitable to eat
- JackV846 (8/5): nice big hotel in the heart of Gazientep - nice big hotel with fairly large and clean rooms. comfortable bed and big bathroom. decent restaurant and bar. breakfast was a little disappointing though. wifi not that good. least amount of english spoke here vs the rest of my 4 week trip.
- Gülsüm (10/5): - Konum iyi, kahvaltı geniş seçenekli açık büfe….taş konak, tarihi bir yapı.
- Sameer (2/5): Worst Hotel Ever - Very old hotel with lots of mould in the rooms with no ventilation . If you have asmathic problem do not use this hotel you will get sick.
Bathrooms were only good but no ventilation .
Staff were not friendly at all especially the lady owner or manager .
- Bircan (10/5): damn good - sehr sehr gut. - wow.. location, clearness, historial rooms, breakfast and the team.. thanx for all. is was the greatest vacation in antep-
- NUR NADIAH (10/5): - Located at the edge of the the old city, everything is within walking distance. Room is clean and the courtyard restaurant is very nice. Reception is efficient although not super warm.
- Daphné (4/5): - Hôtel cok soguktu, odanın içi buz, kalörifer
- Ahmed (10/5): Lucky choice - Amazing
- Murat (10/5): - It was great locayiın. Clean hotel with amazing history
- tariq_jaradat (10/5): Memorable stay - Great and unforgettable stay, nice hotel and excellent location in the old town, check in was very fast, staff polite, friendly and very helpful, simple breakfast fact with a high quality food, internet service available in all rooms, rooms very clean and tidy.
Thank you very much for the memorable stay, and will stay at thus hotel whenever I'm in the lovely city Gaziantep
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Konumu güzel. Tarihi bir handa kalmak değişik bir tecrübe olabilir:)
- Erhan (10/5): Hotel authentique bien placé - Hôtel très authentique. Je conseil fortement.
- Serhat (10/5): Çok beğendik - Çok güzel bir han otel. Odalar ve banyo oldukça geniş. Kahvaltı yeterli derecede çeşitli.
- ZOZYU (6/5): Great location - Location was perfect, walking distance to many restaurants and shopping places. Single beds are twin size, not suitable if you happen to be a heavier person. Our bathroom door handle kept falling off.
Most importantly, I exchanged dollar and person counted in front of me as well but second time I exchanged $200, person counted himself but did not count in front of me. I realized it was 200 TL short, he denied it when we asked him about it. I asked to speak with a manager on our departure day and asked her to please review the security footage. She took our contact information, including my sister’s, she lives in Turkey, and we never heard anything back. Please make sure they count the money in front of you and do not let them hand it to you ina bunch. I was extremely disappointed..
- Volkan (10/5): - Very nice accommodation option in antep
