Guest Reviews
- Eliezer (8/5): - Clean room
- Enoch (6/5): - Front desk staff needs some training about customer services. The guy who checked us in was very unprofessional “bro in us” and seem very unhappy about his job.
- Mami (2/5): - Bad neighborhood, no amenities
- Felipe (8/5): - The hotel is good (clean room and bathroom), and the staff was really nice with me, but the location is a little awkward.
- Michael (6/5): - You get what you Pay For lol
- Meta (8/5): - Great location near subway. It took only 20 minutes to get to midtown Manhattan. Very quiet. Clean room, comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Street parking seemed a little unsafe so I purchased nearby gated parking which I found very satisfactory. It is in the middle of a colorful family neighborhood with food trucks and street musicians. Way cheaper than hotels in Manhattan! I would definitely stay here again.
- Will (4/5): - Hotel tried to steal from me. Immediately after checkout, I received many attempted charges for $300+ to my credit card on file. Luckily, my bank declined them all, marking them as fraudulent.
Also, there was food inside the microwave in my room, with rice that had turned blue.
You get what you pay for.
- Shannon (6/5): - My room was incredibly small. The bathroom was the same size as the bedroom area. Bathroom floor was covered in something like Pledge; was always greasy. Bathroom sink missing faucet aerator so water just kind of sprayed everywhere.
Upon arriving, I was charged a $15 a day "cleaning fee" but the cleaner only came twice in the 8 days I was there. Bedroom had marijuana stickers on the wall.
Shower curtain was 18" too long and laid in a big wet pile on the floor. Bathroom mirror light fixture was non-functional. Website photographs are wildly deceiving and shot with incredibly wide angle lenses to misguide guests at the accommodations. Overall it was mostly clean and safe, but it just felt like a neglected old hotel.
- joffer andres (6/5): - We felt in a motel the rooms are very very small nowhere to open the suitcases properly. Shower the same the water were coming out to the entire bathroom from the shower because it was so small. Noisy sometimes.
- M.A. Hassan (6/5): - Poor front desk services. Lack of pillows, missing TV remote control, and no sleep stands.
- Andrea (2/5): - I booked this property because I could get 2 beds and it was "only a 20 minute train ride" from what I thought was a comparable property in Manhattan.
When we arrived we were given a room with only 1 full size bed. After calling expedia to confirm that I did book a room with 2 beds I went back to the desk and was given a room with 2 twins.
While settling in to our room our door beeped and opened. Because the front desk had given another guest a key to our room. The front desk clerk didn't really seem bothered by this.
We left to go to a show at Lincoln Center and when we got back (about midnight) our keys didn't work. The clerk said we were on room 405 not room 406 and wanted to give us keys to room 405. Thankfully we were able to convince her that our things were in room 406, or at least that's where we left them.
Saturday night our key cards were deactivated again. And this time no one was at the front desk. Instead there was a note "call me at..." because the staff also operates the hotel across the street. When he showed up they had marked us as checked out, even though we were staying through Monday.
We never had any house keeping. Which means we ran out of toilet paper. And there was no one at the desk to help.
DO NOT STAY HERE.
On Sat night police were looking for a criminal on the street and the door to this hotel does not lock and there was no one at the desk. Made me feel super unsafe.
- John (2/5): - Bad / unsafe location
- Steven (2/5): - Broken tiles scratch myself on
- Johnny (6/5): - A.c worked fine. Staff was friendly
- Kenrick (6/5): - The neighborhood is not the best.
- Ira (6/5): - Basic is the right word for this place In a marginal but authentic neighborhood. Not for people who aren’t used to the realities of urban life in a city destroyed by gentrification and global capitalism. Convenient to public transportation.
- Tom (4/5): - Tv was not working, no toilet paper
- tim (2/5): you must be kidding! - first of all there was no one at one at the desk when i arrived, i had to wait until they showed up, the microwave did not work, the mirror was broken and had sharp edges,
when i went down stairs again, their was no one at the desk, but some one had fixed the door so it was held open, it was dark in front of the place, and i felt unsafe.
- Moon (8/5): Good enough - I got intimidated by the reviews on the Google map but it was actually better than what I expected. Good price for business trip
- Angela (2/5): - At 730 in the morning somebody....maybe staff tried comknv into our room. We told front desk and no explanation.
- Sharmaine (2/5): - They don’t take action. No shower working for 3 days they didn’t fix it
- Jhosef (2/5): - The cleaning service damaged a cell phone charger and took money from my bank account.
- Raymond (6/5): - The room is extremely small. The queens bed takes up half of the room and is pushed up to the window and PTAC unit. So at night, the hot or cold air will blow right at you. The bathroom is as big as the room itself.
- Stacey (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Stayed only because NYC was priced out, this hotel should be put out of business for price gauging. $300 for 1 night. A hostel would’ve been 10 levels above staying here.
The room smelt bad. The bathroom smelt bad. The bathroom floor was slimey. The bed felt damp and sweaty. The bedroom blind doesn’t even cover the whole window, there is a square window at the bottom, uncovered and meant anyone outside in the eve could stare right into the room and see you in bed.
The street felt very unsafe. Just don’t stay here.
- Jordan (2/5): - See my review for Ramona. It is the same owner, and same wmployees that flip flop between the two locations across from each other. Every aspect was terrible. Last night we were kicked out of our okay room to be put in a smaller one with no AC
- Kevin Bryix (4/5): - Staff was rude. Asked for an extra key card and asked me “do you really need it right now?”) with an annoyed facial expression.
No hairdryer available in the unit. Will need to ask one from the front desk.
Housekeeper went inside the room without knocking. Didn’t feel safe being here.
- Karina (2/5): - There is no working number to reach the front desk, the area is so bad and not to mention workers steal belongings.
- Jericho (6/5): - says parking available, not available, try to charge me 20 extra dollars on way in, try to get me to pay the hotel over for parking, forgot to give back security deposit till i called.
- Andrew (8/5): Good price, good location, get what you pay for - The location was convenient and the price good, but the area did not feel all that safe - lots of police activity around us. The check in experience not so great - the room we were sent to was not clean or empty, and it took them over 45mins to find a replacement which took place by door knocking. The external to the building was not locked and reception was not always staffed. Nowhere secure to leave luggage. Staff were co-operative, was just chaotic
- Matias (2/5): - This was probably the worst hotel i have ever stayed. One night I came back at 2am from meeting friends. No one at the frontdesk and a locked front door with no way to enter. After banging on the door for 30 minutes a staff member shuffled to the door and opened it. (So much for the advertised 24h front desk). I stayed for 5 days and my room was not made even once. The fire alarm in the ground floor went off and no one bothered. It rang for the whole night. At checkout again, no one at the frontdesk. I left my card on the front desk with a note. Following the example of several other guests. The plastic cover of the AC was cracked open, the revolving front door was out of order.....I could go on. In short: terribly, I can not recommend.
- Christina (6/5): - This is a great no frills spot in LIC for an overnight. I had a room with two twin beds and it was good for me and my son. It’s a quick subway ride on the F train to midtown and Penn Station.
On the downside, the shower took 10 min to warm up and there was zero water pressure, the walls are thin, housekeeping woke us up with vacuuming in the hall, no remote for the TV. The room would have benefited from a few more extras like an extra shelf or table, an extra trash can, and extra towels and TP. The lobby needs a few chairs to accommodate folks. It was fine; it just felt more like a hostel.
- Dominic (4/5): - No receptionist for a while, when they did come, they came from across the street and mentioned that they also work across the street. The room was not ready for over an hour and we came at 6 pm, check-in is at 3pm. Also the room smelled like wet cigarettes and had no toilet paper available.
- Omar (10/5): - Nice and friendly
- Carlo (6/5): - Understaffed and now shower curtains
- Md (2/5): - This is the worst place I've ever stayed in. Room is very small. You can't even move around the room. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you want something cheap.
- Alma (2/5): - Nothing
- Andrew (4/5): Cold shower and poor service - Went to check-in early and the front desk attendant didn't know how to do that, so she left for 5-10 mins and came back with somebody who gave a training lesson on how to perform the aforementioned function for another 10 minutes.
Then, once checked in, the access card provided did not work.
Then as soon as we got let in by the maintenance worker, he tried knocking on the door to do maintenance. Really?
Oh, and then there was no hot water in the bathroom.
- Qi (2/5): - no room service at all.long waiting for hot watef
- Zoey (2/5): - waited an hour to check in, room had no deadbolt (which you need here). tv didn’t work, and the male attendant who checked me in (solo female traveler) unlocked and peeked into my room at 12:30 in the morning. now management won’t return any of my calls
- Lady (6/5): - I think the property is under new management so still in transitional phase. My room was clean and spacious
- Deanna (4/5): - We had no shower curtain in the bathroom, I received the wrong room and the front desk person stepped away from the counter during check out for about 30 mins and didn’t return until we called multiple times
- Matthew (6/5): - You get exactly what you pay for. It’s mid. I have no complaints.
- Kharisa (2/5): - Bad area, tv doesn’t work, can’t lock the door, tiny room, the water doesn’t have hot water, the bathroom didn’t have a blow dryer or soap
- Christopher (2/5): - Please have working TV’s thank you
- Mohab (2/5): - Stuff unprofessional.Doors have no locks from inside.
- Thomas (6/5): - I visited this hotel in August 2025, 4 days after it opened. It was a good value for the money. The room was very small with almost no amenities. The front desk clerk had to escort me to the room as the door keys weren't reliabily working. Hopefully they will remedy these issues in the near future. If so, I would stay here again.
- Terrell (2/5): - Had no TV, no toothbrushes, no good parking (but that's just NYC), needed to ask for a refrigerator & literally had no view outside my window.
- David (8/5): 😑 meh - It was nice. The front desk guy wouldn't let us check in with just my id even though it was under my name he wanted the itinerary or he wanted an extra 15$ in cash to check in. I've never had that happen. The room had no garbage can, no phone, no ice bucket or bags, no coffee or tea maker, no remote for the tv which never worked once we got a remote for it. It was a very small room with a very large bathroom. The shower was set so high that when you turned it on it went out of the shower curtain. The internet never worked so we couldn't even set anything up. Went down to the front desk around 11pm to try and find the ice machine and there was a sign that said will be back please text me. We never found the ice machine and we never heard back from anyone.
- Antonio (6/5): Motel service at hotel pricing - Couldn’t get tv to work , gave us wrong wifi log in info , room was to small , no ice machine ,street parking was in the hood , lobby door stayed propped open .
- Madeline (2/5): - Terrible space, terrible service, not clean, no real pillows, no soap. Do NOT stay here. Horrible
- janice (4/5): - They are not ready for their grand reopening. No 24 hour desk staff, no shower curtains, no hangers and no tv. Unusable mictrowave in the elevator and trash bags in the lobby and hallways
- Charywane (2/5): - Not the best place to stay
- Sergii (4/5): - Tv was not working. No towels. No toilet paper. Bathroom was missing tiles on the wall.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel is closed already!!! And still taking reservations!...and they will not refund the amount you paid...terrible!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Do not pay for this hotel. It was closed since last year. Do not waste your money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel has been closed for the past year.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel was closed, was a nightmare
- PARAG (2/5): Hotel closed, I wasted my day waiting outside - I went there and found the hotel closed. It was closed from outside, like old closed property. I called them, not answered. I was with my luggages and it was raining outside. I came from the other part of NY and really needed some palace to rest. And I found this kind of business. Really upset.
I called hotel.com customer care to refund my money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel was boarded up and closed! It is in a terrible neighborhood as well
- Dave (8/5): - A nice little spot with convenient access to the Subway. Having said that, this place isn’t very well staffed aside from reception - as most of their staff is at the Howard Johnson (owned by the same company) across the street. You’re even told at check in that if you need ice or snack/drink machines to go to the Howard Johnson across the street. Room Service was VERY minimal for the week that my buddy and I stayed there (this was pre pandemic). The location was nice during the daytime, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best area once the sun goes down. Again, it was conveniently located near the subway, which made it super easy for us to get to everywhere we wanted to go; and the view of the New York City skyline from our room was so spectacular. Having stayed both here and the Howard Johnson across the street on a previous trip, I would recommend the Howard Johnson, but this is suitable if you’re looking for a cheaper rate
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Arrived to property only to be sent across the street because they were under construction. Very unhappy with the hotel that not what i paid for
- David (2/5): - Horrible staff. No working phone number. Dirty.
- Glen (4/5): Disappointed Customers - There was emergency renovations didn’t stay at the hotel. They sent us across the street to a Howard Johnson. Was
Looking forward to staying at the Boutique Hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There’s was no one at the check in desk upon arrival. Room service knocked on the door the next morning and before waiting for an answer just started opening the door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Upgraded us to Howard Johnson because of construction. Came with free breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and friendly helpful breakfast was good i will return again
- Tara (2/5): I wont stay again... - The hotel was closed so they sent me across the syreet to the Howard Johnson. There room was nice, clean and small. Lobby smelled very bad though and the staff made me feel thatbi was more of an inconvenience then a guest. There was absolutely no parking sobwe had to park a block and a half away in a very sketching neighborhood.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was cool. I just didn't like they didn't let me know that I would be at the howard Johnson
- Henry (2/5): - After booking with the property upon arrival the location was closed and we were instructed to go to the hotel across the street which smell really bad and also while using the vending machine, The machine took my money and when I asked for help from the front desk they told me there’s nothing that they can do.
- Lady (10/5): - Very nice people...I was sent across to the Howard Johson, so this review is for them
- Patrick (6/5): Not clean; no parking - Everything was clearly new, but the bathroom was not cleared very thoroughly, and it made me question how well anything else was cleaned in the unit. Also, their listing says they have parking available. That is at worst a lie, and at best severely stretching the truth.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible customer experience - The lobby had a fowl odor, the receptionist and manager was extremely rude and was not willing to make any accommodations for a policy that was not stated in the reservation.
- Matthew Eberle (8/5): - I liked the room, clean, good mattress! Close to subway quick and easy access to Manhattan. I did not like or appreciate the $100 sec dep that was actually run on my card and has yet to be refunded.
- MsNy (4/5): - The customer service was horrible and there was a stench when you walked in the door. Big black bags of trash in the hallways.
- Richard (4/5): Felt like a sardine! - Tiny room, it was like being in a closet. There was little or no room even to put down a suitcase.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is newly renovated so rooms are clean, bedsheets new. The staff are helpful. The rooms are small and basic. The area is not nice, works if you need a place to crash but have to go into city everyday. Close to metro. 12 minutes to downtown.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - surrounding is not safe. Near the hotel, some Shoes were hanging on the electric wire. soooooo fearful
- Hazem (10/5): Great stay - The room was really nice, and clean. Location is also convenient near delis and stores. Would book again here in the future!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bed was comfortable and the heater was good. I had issues with a booking change (was within the booking terms) which is why it doesn't get a higher review. Not much happening in the area but it was fine for me.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Okay the rooms are nice but very very small. There was a lamp/nightstand on only one side of the bed. The shower set up was horrible. The bathroom floor flooded at one point because the shower stream goes outside of the barrier design. There were barely any working channels on the TV. There is no fridge in the room which doesn’t make any sense but the front desk was nice enough to let me cool my drinks in I guess the staff fridge. I don’t know the place wasn’t horrible but I most likely won’t stay here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I liked the proximity to where I was going. Some of the things I didn’t like. My room was right on the street and the first night a car alarm went off three times ruining my sleep. Walls were paper thin so you could hear everything. From the little walking that I did I could tell it was a bad neighborhood. The WiFi worked sometimes but most of the time it did not work. Not recommended
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No one at the reception (24 hr reception?) on arrival. Had to ask for help from the opposite hotel with a wait of 40 mins. Terribly small room, only fits a small double bed. Not clean. Construction outside, elevator and other room noises inside, not possible to sleep early mornings. Free wi-fi? Think again, it keeps dropping, not reliable at all. No one at the reception to check-out and to leave the luggage with (luggage room is not locked anyway).
I wish I could get my money back from Expedia for the trouble and stress this hotel put us through.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location of the property was in the middle of housing commission flats and a little undesirable. The hotel itself was average, clean but small room. Currently building construction next door so a little noisy. Originally we were in a room on 2nd floor where the wifi didn’t work moved to 7th floor which was better
- Ingrid (6/5): - room was a bit on the small size. but overall i had an okay experience. one thing i did not like is that i had to pay an extra 25$ just for early check in...mind you i got there just 1 hr earlier. and then on top of everything they charged me $100 for "holding" purposes that said they will return it to me. i will wait to see if they actually do return that money if not then i will file a claim to get my money back!
- Ricardo (10/5): - It was a short but very nice stay, worth the price
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall is a nice hotel, staff was nice to us and room was cleaned everyday with change of towels so we had a good experience from what we've been reading in other reviews. The room was very clean and not small as lot of people complained about, our room with double bed had a good size. I would add some basics like shelves or hooks to hang your things as without any wardrobe or similar is a bit complicated and a bath mat, but nothing major. The area is a bit sketchy at night but you are 5 mins from the Subway so easy to go back and forth.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It's a fairly bare bones place to stay and a bit quirky. But it was cheap and clean, and close to the subway into Manhattan. For example, my shower was built to spray the water directly into the shower curtain which drained it directly into the undraining bathroom floor while waiting for the water to warm. Simple fix, wrap a hand towel around the spray while waiting to warm, and stand in front of the spray during the shower. Quirky, but workable.
- Melissa (2/5): - The bed was comfortable, but the little second window in the room that had no blind to it, w/the neo light flashing ALL day and night thru it right over the bed wad was awful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - When I arrived on Saturday there was another party booked for the same room. The air conditioner unit made terrible noises all weekend. There have been knats flying in the room through my stay. Also the water leaks under the shower partition and runs onto the floor in the general part of the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor - Room was tiny. No dresser. No view-I looked outbto a block wall. No clock. No was clothes. No chair. No closet. Impossible to hang clothes.
- Victor (4/5): Had to check in late - No housekeeping - Arrived at Hotel and was unable to check in till later that Evening because the rooms were not ready due to the housekeeping staff not being there. Waited and hour and finally had to go as I had a business meeting to attend I was late because of this issue. Upon check out I stood at the desk for 5 minutes while the front desk representative texted and did not even acknowledge me there. When I finally asked if she could help me she said to wait one moment. She then made me wait several more minutes while she finished her text message. They also said that it could take up to 2 weeks to get my deposit back. Would not be returning to this Hotel and will be attempting to get my money back.
- Samantha (8/5): - No fridge or microwave; rooms was very small. The floor had not been swept, nail clippings and hair on the floor.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible Smells - Had to wait like 15 minutes for a room then go upstairs and the room smelled like a dirty subway car. The sheets and comforter looked dirty. There was nothing but a bed and a tiny tv. The hotel doesn’t even have a sign outside with the name of the hotel on it. Not to mention the room was right next to a construction sight so you couldn't have your blinds up. Small window on the floor next to the A/C with no way to cover it besides putting a pillow in front of it.
- Andrew (2/5): Mayflower boutique hotel - Room was too small struggle to put suitcase on the floor too open them no hanging room or drawers to put clothes in room not cleaned daily although we did get clean towels overall experience was negative wouldn't return
- Verified traveler (8/5): - New building fine for no frills stays, convenient to Manhattan.
- Sam (10/5): - Cool very nice. Would go again. Nice view. Nice Staff
- Artur (10/5): - Good
- Arielle (10/5): - Bed was sooo comfy. Very good air conditioning and shut out blinds. The shower shoots over the stall like a water closet, so make sure to have curtain closed when turning on if that bothers you. Turn on fan and close door to evaporate. Takes a bit to heat up water, but gets very warm. Stayed for 3 nights, so came back to room made up. Had a king bed room. Room was petite because nyc, so a fat person might feel a bit small. Area was near subway. Made many friends in neighbourhood. Would recommend for a seasoned traveler.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms are small but clean and the bed is very confy. It's walking distance from metro station but the place is too sketchy at night.
I recommend it as an economic alternative for 1 or 2 nights.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I did not like that they charged my card credit three times , the area was horrible and dirty
The receptionist was terrible checking in at explaining anything or answering questions
The shower head faced to the door so the whole floor was soaked when you finished your shower
They didn’t explain The complimentary breakfast
They had no amenities!!!!
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone
I was very disappointed
