Hence they have stopped doing any real upkeep on the property. We have stayed here several times because it is literally across the street for the Del Coronado and the beach is right there.

A locked door in the room has some central AC unit with a great noise next to bed, couldn’t sleep, thought I better sleep in the car. Very rude staff, office is always closed even when checking out, left the keys with the housekeeper. Paid $400 a night for a trash room/ hotel

• Daniel M (4/5): Don't stay here -- $59 motel for $159 price tag - I do not recommend anyone staying here except as a truly last resort. Definitely a motel, not a hotel. It's on par with what I'd expect of a $59/night motel, but it cost nearly $160/night. Was willing to pay that price, but was expecting at least that much value. The good: location. That's all I can think of. It was a short walk to the beach and is in a lovely area for restaurants, stores, etc. The bad: doors/windows did little to keep out sound so I heard the traffic of the nearby road all night as well as any conversations happening outside; lots of peeling or missing wallpaper; old/ugly carpet; old wall unit A/C had to be at 62 degrees just to get comfortable; shower head was at chin level, and I'm average height; there was no dresser for unpacking the suitcase; the chair had stains on it; and the pillows were so flimsy/thin that I needed 2 or 3 just to make it feel like a normal pillow.

The down side: The walls are thin and sound travels easily between rooms especially from the upper to the lower. They need hand towel hangers in Bathroom and more counter space. Carpets need a shampoo and bathroom sink was clogged. The room needs a good deep clean and touch up.

They should have a notice of no staff on their website and on Expedia. Overall it was a basic motel in a nice neighborhood…nothing fancy just a place to stay at night don’t expect anything more.

The customer service was wonderful and our room even better. We literally could open our doors and enjoy the light show to music at Hotel Del. It was close to everything. I would return again but stay two nights to enjoy the free access to bikes and more time to shop and enjoy the city.

Location was amazing, morning walk on the beach by hotel Coronado was fabulous. My only complaint is we had party people staying above us which kept waking us up. You could easily hear people walking above us. Loud creaks.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Will not return - The layout and kitchen included were what we needed BUT the carpet and walls were dirty with stains and smears of who knows what. There were also white spots on the couch cushions that had not been cleaned but simply turned over and put back on the couch. When you check in we did not receive info for wifi, bike usage and there was no room service the entire stay. By the end of our trip the trash was overflowing because no one had been in our room to maintenance it. I have always said that there isn't a bad place to stay on the island but i believe i stand corrected. The office staff was friendly but the motel as a while needs A LOT of work

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Front desk receptionist and manager were nice. Motel clean and comfortable. It is in a great area. The full kitchen could use some additional utensils for those cooking so bring your own if you plan to do so. They offer free bike rentals, which is very nice. Our only issue was when we checked in, we were told we could park in the lot with our Honda Pilot, unloaded and relaxing in the room when the receptionist came up and said she made a mistake and we had to park down the street because she didn’t realize our car wasn’t compact. The parking structure that is their “offsite” parking is a building that has all marked spots in a Bank of America lot. We used the kiosk only to not have a receipt print and unsure if it charged and we ended up being charged twice. We couldn’t get ahold of anyone from the number on the kiosk. The car is inaccessible from 12am-6am. You have to move it out by Monday 9am. The lot felt a little unsafe and kids riding skateboards made us feel uncomfortable to leave our car there. Although overall the stay was great, for the amount paid, we will most likely stay somewhere more convenient for parking.

We couldn't watch TV at night (batteries in remote were dead, had to re-plug in the TV 3 times to get it to hold in place, & no in in the office to help). Filter needs cleaned in A/C. In wall small A/C is LOUD when it kicks on, which was every 15 minutes throughout the night. A locked closet in our room was a loud fan blowing non-stop. Door lock was old and difficult to use. I didn't like being "upgraded" (as we were told) to the only room with out a sliding glass door window to look out (all the rest of the room had this).
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location right across from the Del Coronado Hotel in the beach. Located on Orange Street which is the heart of the restaurant and shopping area on Coronado. Parking is a definite negative. First, they charge you $15 a day for a spot and that is not indicated anywhere in the hotel online information or the Expedia reservation. Second, it is very dangerous backing out of your parking spot located in a blind spot on a busy Street.

Would have been good to know parking was 3 blocks away for larger vehicles( trucks). Cups made of paper all leaked and no ice on site.

If you’re looking for a modern glossy place, this is not for you. But if clean, comfortable and reasonable (by Coronado standards) are what you’re looking for? You’ve found you’re spot.

• Mike (4/5): Outdated hotel - The rooms was very old and needed to be updated in all aspects. Parking spaces were small and we had to park in an end spot and our car barely fit. We had to call for fresh towels and there was no daily cleaning service provided, I would not recommend the hotel as a place to stay until they make some serious updates to there place.
• George (8/5): Great vibe, needs more LOVE. - What a great location & the "keeper" Juaquine was very helpful (although the hours of operation where a bit strange & "paid" parking was a surprise). The room was large & "lightly" furnished. Cleanliness was on point. Our biggest gripe is the fact that the room had some glaring aesthetic issues, that to me.....seemed to just go uncared for. Lots of poorly covered/patched holes in the walls, missing ($1.50) knobs. We would stay there again, for the location, service & price. But with ALL the renovations, & very nice properties steps away....it just seemed like the Capri could be BETTER, it's a beautiful vintage building.

The walk to the beach is nice, just a few minutes away. The best part was they have complimentary bikes that can be used by guests. There are so many great places to eat within walking distance. They do charge for on-site parking but it’s worth it since there is a 2hr parking limit if you park elsewhere. I have a Chevy Tahoe and had no problem getting in and out of the parking lot like other people have stated in their comments. Check in was easy. Joaquin, the office manager, called me prior to arriving to confirm our stay and to go over check in instructions. I needed to upgrade to a bigger bed and he was able to help me out with no issues. I recommend the Villa Capri and I would definitely stay there again. :)

The office hours are difficult to navigate but anything we needed they provided. They had bikes for us to use and that was fun. I will definitely stay here again for future vacations.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel right across from the beach - I always love staying at the Villa Capri because you get a lot of space for your money (get one of the suites, it's worth having a separate bedroom and a kitchen). The location is great, beds are comfy, and overall everything runs pretty smoothly. My only complaint was that Room 10 had hot water issues, so I couldn't really soak in the bath or take a shower for more than 5 minutes.

If you are sensitive to noise then earplugs will definitely help with uninterrupted sleep. Shower heads are set at like 5 ft 6" which is really annoying. Wouldn't take much to put a modified extension and raise them up to normal height. Showers are also extremely small. Worth no more than about 80 a night in my opinion

Got bumped up from a Queen to a king size bed without even knowing. Like I was treated really well and was given easy check-in instructions. Would strongly recommend for San Diego visit.

• Carol (8/5): - Good information with contact-free check-in. We were a bit surprised that there are parking restrictions on larger cars, but we had no trouble parking for free in front of the hotel. The only changes we would suggest, items we really missed, were a couple of plastic sealed cups (we really needed to take medicine) and a channel list for the TV, which could have been kept Covid free putting it under the glass top next to the TV.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Don’t get all the uber positive reviews. - The reviews were so outstanding, we were expecting more. Thin walls and so loud music at night and a baby crying early in the morning from the other neighbouring room. Further, the street noise from the traffic is pretty significant. TV in the bedroom wouldn’t turn on and there was something wrong with the volume control in the living space. It would get louder and quieter on its own. Very few amenities including a single role of toilet paper and a single shampoo, conditioner and body wash for everyone during our stay. Sofa had stains on it and so we chose not to sit on it uncovered. Parking was really tight. No staff on site to deal with noise or other matters. Overall, we give this a less than average ranking and would not likely stay here again. Too bad. Great location for a decent price, but it is a no go.

But the good news is around the block you can park for free on the street. Location doent have a pool which you dont need. It did at one point but they covered it up with a seating area. Location is close to everything. Staff are extremly friendly and helpful. Its an older motel but clean. Free bikes to borrow. Why stay at Del Coronado and pay $100 more a night at minimum plus $40 parking and $35 resort fee. Stay here and save your money, you will need it for all restaurants in the area.

As in other reviews the furniture is out dated but we didn't care; the price and location are what was important to us. The staff was very accommodating, had a great time! I love the nostalgic feel of the motel.
