- Errol (6/5): - It’s clean, close to everything. Well, I think this hotel is kind of overpriced. Its rates are almost at the same level as hotels in other provinces like Seda Bacolod and Iloilo. The air conditioning was not cool enough, and I ended up sweating for 2 days. The breakfast servings were limited, and the refills were slow — sometimes there were no refills at all. The internet was also slow. I got disconnected from several online meetings because of the poor connection. I hope they can improve this.

It was very quiet and peaceful The location was excellent getting from north tacloban to south was easy. The prices were excellent. We didn’t have a single issue. Ironwood is now our “ go to” in tacloban.

There was a leak I believe from the bathroom to the sleeping area. The internet was down the entire first day/night we stayed. No ATM in the hotel. Since the internet was down, could not watch TV in the room. Needed to ask for extra toilet paper. Fiance said that the fridge items should have been free or cost less. Hotel hallway on our floor smelled odd, I assume because there was a restaurant 1 floor above. Hall outside of our room was used for storage.

Nevertheless, our stay was wonderful, especially thanks to the polite and attentive service of the staff. Kenneth, in particular, was a great help throughout our stay—he always provided the best answers to our inquiries and gave clear directions to our destinations, which was very useful since we were not from the area. The restaurant on the ground floor also deserves a mention for serving a delicious breakfast.

Atmosphere was welcoming and I felt like I was a valued guest. My room was amazing! Attention to details! I stayed in Ironwood because I flew in from out of the country and wanted a place to get ready for my friend’s wedding. My room was right infront of the elevator so I could hear constant foot traffic, but it didn’t really bother me. I slept like a baby, fresh and cool sheets helped me really relax. I would be staying in Ironwood again next time I visit home.

- botchogk (2/5): Disappointing and Unhygienic Stay – Not Coming Back - Disappointing and Unhygienic Stay – Not Coming Back My recent stay at Ironwood Hotel was extremely disappointing, especially compared to my previous stay, which was very good. I was informed at check-in that the room assigned to me had no windows. Unfortunately, there were no other rooms available for upgrade except the Presidential Suite, which required an additional ₱25,000 on top of my existing booking. With no other options, I had to stay in the assigned room. At first glance, the room looked okay, but there was a noticeable unpleasant smell. The bathroom sink emitted a very strong and nasty odor, and the bathroom was not as clean as expected. I also noticed a stained spot on the bed sheet, which was a major turn-off. I ended up sleeping on top of the bed cover to avoid direct contact with the sheets. At around 3:00 AM, I was woken up by loud crawling sounds in the ceiling, followed by noises of luggage being dragged and dropped. The crawling sound was heavy—like a big dog walking above the ceiling—which was very unsettling. I asked the front desk about this, thinking it might be a pet, but they informed me that pets are not allowed. They said they would investigate and later they send a notification letter about pesticide treatment. However, despite this, the loud crawling noises continued every night during my stay. The next morning, I reported the stained bed sheet to the front desk and requested a replacement. The receptionist assured me that bed sheets are replaced daily and that housekeeping would take care of it. After the room was cleaned, I returned and immediately checked the bed sheet—the stain was still there. The sheet was clearly not replaced. Later, I contacted the front desk again regarding the persistent foul smell from the sink and the unchanged bed sheet. The cleaner apologized and said they did not change the sheets because I did not specifically request it, which is unacceptable, as clean sheets should be standard housekeeping practice. They cleaned the sink, but after some time, the bad smell returned. At that point, I gave up and just endured the rest of my stay. This experience was far below expectations, especially considering how impressed I was during my previous stay. Cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort are basic hotel standards, and unfortunately, Ironwood failed on all three. I do not think I will be booking with Ironwood Hotel again.
- Gordon (2/5): Discusting Rooms - Location Where do I start.Firstly no hot water. The stench coming from the CR into the living area was completely unacceptable It smelt like a sewer. Underneath the toilet bowel had obviously not been cleaned for a very long time and quite frankly was disgusting.The CR basin tap was very loose and about to fall off.and the shower glass was filthy Our Main dinner meal was not only expensive but very very average. To top all of this off the party noise coming from the room next meant we did not sleep at all well
- Dreamer15137851206 (10/5): Peaceful Staycation with Great Comfort and Breakfast - Pros: We stayed in a cozy room and already expected that it wouldn’t have a window—surprisingly, it was very cozy, spacious, and peaceful, exactly what I wanted. The room was also very clean. The bed was super comfortable, and there was Netflix, which was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. The room’s scent was also very relaxing, adding to the calm atmosphere. The front desk informed us beforehand about possible water issues and ongoing Wi-Fi work, but thankfully we didn’t encounter any problems, and the brief Wi-Fi disturbance only lasted about 10 minutes. Overall, it was a very relaxing experience and exactly the staycation we needed—peaceful, comfortable, and good value for money. One of the reasons I stay in hotels in Tacloban is to try their breakfast offerings, and this one was a highlight! A buffet with good food and attentive staff. Cons: The room lacked just one small thing—the hair dryer had to be requested, and the one provided showed signs of wear due to overheating. We also had cocktails at Leaf Lounge and were looking forward to the alfresco area, but it had already been renovated and removed. That night, while we were having drinks, we were the only customers, and service felt a bit less attentive than expected, as we had to call their attention whenever we needed something. The food was good, and the drinks were great—especially since our cocktails was an off-menu request, and it turned out really well! The experience would have been five-star if the staff had been more proactive. This was the only minor downside to our stay; overall, everything else was good.

We had the hot breakfast on our second day and really enjoyed the service and food quality. Staff was great with helping find private transportation and dining recommendations. Was not sure if we had daily room service, but learned we needed to ask if we wanted fresh sheets or towels. I think this is more common to the Philippines and not this hotel. This was my first stop on my trip and I was still in fast mode, so I needed to practice some patience with the relaxed pace at the hotel.

The restaurants are also nice. The restaurant upstairs has many interesting options on the menu. I only had the included breakfast downstairs. Just a small buffet, but the to-order eggs were better than average and the French Toast was excellent. Both restaurants keep your water glasses full, which I really appreciate. My only minor complaint was the street noise, but not unexpected in Tacloban on a Friday night.

Zu anderen Mahlzeiten hatte man die Wahl im Hotel , in Tacloban oder im entfernten Einkaufszentrum Robinson in Palo zu speisen . Ironwood Hotel liegt in einen der Nebenstraßen von Tacloban . Man muß wissen das viele kleine Minitaxis auf Hauptstraßen in Tacloban unterwegs sind und so die Luftbelastung besonders in den Abendstunden sehr eingeschränkt ist . Bei der Buchung der Zimmer wäre zu sagen , das es Räume auch ohne Fenster vorhanden sind .

- Zenybel (1/5): - During our check-in, we were informed that the hotel would be hosting a Halloween party and that in-house guests were welcome to attend free of charge, with priority access. At around 7:00 PM, we proceeded to the restaurant on the 5th floor for dinner. The food was good, and after our meal, we decided to stay a bit longer to enjoy some drinks and wait for the party to begin, as we were already at the venue. To our surprise, a waitress suddenly approached our table with the bill. I mentioned that I had not requested it, and she explained that we needed to leave as the restaurant would be reserved for the Halloween party, which had a separate charge per guest. I responded that it would have been courteous to inform us of this policy upon our arrival. I even offered to settle our current bill and pay the additional amount for the party entry. The waitress consulted the manager but later returned to inform us that all tables had been reserved and there were no seats available. As a result, we were asked to leave. The manager did not approach us to offer any explanation or apology, which I found very disappointing and unprofessional. We returned to our room and continued our evening there, as we had no other option. Later, when my nephew saw other guests entering the hotel, he asked where they were going, and they mentioned they were attending the Halloween party clearly contradicting what we had been told about in-house guests being the priority. The following day, during checkout, we were also charged PHP 1,000 for a small chocolate stain on a pillow, which I found excessive and unreasonable. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had in Tacloban. The lack of proper communication, poor management, and absence of basic hospitality left a very negative impression. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking quality service and professionalism.

- Pasquale (4/5): Not organized properly - Good position, good breakfast The biggest issue was the airport transfer. The hotel sends a pre-check-in form to be completed online, where they ask if you need an airport transfer, for 1800 pesos (4 km – using the Grab app, the same ride costs less than 350). Then two emails arrive: the first one states that no transfer is guaranteed unless paid in advance, the second one says everything was confirmed and payment would be made at check-out. Seeking clarification, I sent several emails and messages through Booking, but received no reply. In the end, when I arrived at the airport at 11:00 pm, no one was there. But it didn’t end there. The next morning, I was called in my room at 8 am to ask why I hadn’t taken the shuttle and was told that I had to take the one to the airport at 8:45 am for 1800 pesos. However, since I had complained at check-in, I was informed that there was a FREE shuttle service leaving at a convenient time, and I had booked a seat. Nevertheless, they did not cancel the other one. After long discussions, in the end, they did not refund me the outrageous charge of 3600 pesos. As for the hotel itself, there were several issues: only 2 towels for 2 people to be used for everything, the bed had a stain, and the shower soap dispenser was loose. Breakfast was good, and the location convenient.

Price is very expensive. It’s better to book with Summit Hotel. The staff was really cold. The food on breakfast buffet are obviously just canned goods and processed meats. There are fruits but the selection is very limited. The food at the restaurant is expensive.

- Craig (5/5): Not what I expected from that suit it definitely was not worth $330 for the night. will not stay there again - The location Well we booked the Presidential suit, it was anything but presidential. There were stains all over the kitchen counter, the bedding had not been changed there were stains on the sheets, and when the room attendants arrived the change the bedding the next three sets of sheets were all stained and I refused for them to be put on the bed,the entire room was in disarray with damage. There is no parking 🅿️ it was around the corner in a vacant lot which only had enough spaces for 7 cars.

- 696zairav (10/5): Best family and business meeting venue in the heart of Tacloban - We recently had an overnight trip to Tacloban with the whole fam, we stayed at Ironwood. Gotta say, for a place where I had meetings practically glued to my chair from morning till the afternoon, it was pretty decent. And bonus – we snagged the Ironwood Suite! Seriously spacious with this huge living room, which was a lifesaver with the kids. Definitely felt a bit fancy without being stuffy. The whole thing was organized by this guy, Victorino Mendiola. Super efficient, didn't have to chase anyone for anything. Made the check-in a breeze, which is always a win when you've got the whole crew in tow. But the real treat? Dinner up on the rooftop. They had this Malaysian food thing going on, which was surprisingly good! We all tried different stuff, and everything was pretty tasty. Plus, eating with a view of Tacloban at night was kinda nice. The overnight stay itself was comfy. The suite was really clean and had everything we needed. That living room I mentioned? Seriously came in handy for just chilling out together in the evening. And breakfast the next morning was a good, solid way to kickstart the day before heading out again. So yeah, overall, Ironwood Tacloban was a solid choice for our family trip. Super convenient location, Vic and his team made everything easy, that Malaysian dinner was a fun surprise, and the Ironwood Suite? Definitely worth it if you need the extra space. Would totally recommend if you're ever in Tacloban!

Hotel staff are all approachable. The room was neat, stylish and spacious. They serve a different breakfast menu on the buffet everyday. Good food. You can order from their cafe at the ground floor too. We had an awesome stay.

However, the air-conditioning was directed straight at my bed, so I had to stay covered with a blanket all night. My wife and daughter, who were in the other bed, were more comfortable since the AC wasn't blowing directly at them. My daughter was also sick at the time, so we couldn't turn off the AC completely, we had to keep it running for ventilation, even if it made me a bit uncomfortable. The required security deposit of Php 1,500.00 felt a bit unnecessary, especially since many other hotels don't ask for one. While it wasn't a major issue for me, I personally didn't like it

The breakfast was poor. No bread or toast available. Vegetable omelette full of ham. Replacement omelette had so much salt and pepper inside it was inedible. No apology. Restaurant staff hide in back room so you have to get up and ask through door if you want coffee. Very poor

- William (6/5): A small pricey boutique hotel, with pretentions. - A small pricey boutique hotel, with pretentions. The room was newly refurbished and looked nice with two mirrors, large flat screen TV, stocked ref, working wall safe, writing desk / counter with a wheeled-chair, small coffee table & chair and a king-sized pedestal bed. WiFi was excruciatingly slow. The CR had a sink, rain-shower and toilet and was small; but the water pressure was good and hot water was quick. There were condiments and plenty of fluffy white towels; but no towel rack or hooks anywhere. Coffee & creamer condiments were provided with kettle, tea-cups (should be coffee cups), nice glasses, ice bucket and small plastic bottles of water. The room floor was simulated plank, while hallways were carpet. A hidden water dispenser beside the elevator was a surprise. Off-site Parking is limited. The bar / dining room was booked-out for a private event, leaving only the oddly named Fireleaf Tavern (actually a cafe) for food and drink. The refurbishment project was ongoing but didn't really disturb us, with just the odd machine tool wining. -- end -- See liked.

Of course I know every experience is different depending on the person but, I know every time I am there I am treated with smiles and respect. They even greet me by my first name and also ask about my family when I am not traveling with them.

- Patrick (10/5): - Since they renovated the property, I think the property is the best one in Tacloban. I would love them give them the absolute best review ever, because the rooms are really amazing and the staff is really amazing. There are two issues that they really need to work on. The restaurant did not have many of the items on the menu. They had no pizzas, they had no sandwiches. Some of the drinks we wanted they didn’t have. The dining experience was annoying although the dining staff are very, very nice. The other issue is their Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is basically worthless. I used up my international plan on my phone every five days which got very expensive. Their Wi-Fi pretty much provides no Internet almost all the time. Again, the staff really is helpful, they’re the best people I’ve been countered in the Philippines. It’s unfortunate that they’re just a couple of areas that really need work in that hotel. Hopefully, The owner will step up and figure these things out.
