Guest Reviews
- James (6/5): gorgeous views but needs updating to the property - the location is wonderful the room was large with two beds in it that was nice.. the tv worked good internet worked good
the gentleman who greeted us was very pleasant and changed the room for us when the smoke detector was going off so we did not hear the beep all night long
the Motel has a gorgeous view of Kellys mountain the Motel seems like it needs more renovations its a bit run down in spots.
the bathroom when I took a shower had hair on the show walls it was NOT mine.
under the heat pump in the room there was insulation showing it should have been covered with gyprock
one of the chairs had stains on it just little things that could be fixed would make us come back to stay however we will not stay there again we will go up the road a bit farther next time to more updated rooms
- Dmytro (4/5): The price was good, but the property is poorly maintained and they refused to provide any invoice or documentation for t - Price The room was not very clean, the bedside lamps didn’t work, and there was an abandoned pool with construction debris next to the room. The whole place felt poorly maintained and in a neglected condition.
Additionally, the property refuses to provide any documentation or invoice for the stay, which is unacceptable.

- Sharon (6/5): Motel next door is much better. - Location was great. Easy access to the ferry First thing we saw was a room full of laundry piled up in front of the window. . Was this a Reno or was it the laundry room.
Dust dust and dust on all the furniture surfaces and legs and baseboards.
Didn’t like being told to not take breakfast to the room.
- Angelita (3/5): - Breakfast is included. The rooms are not clean.
- Guest (10/5): Really enjoyed my stay at Travels Inn Victoria County - Everything, the clean room, the view out of the room and the host’s hospitality
- Reid (4/5): -
- Guest (9/5): -
- Brian (8/5): -
- Henk (8/5): good value for the money - breakfast was good, enough choice and variety rooms a bit old
- Eric (1/5): - Location No breakfast as advertised. No coffee No tea No glasses. Fridge made noise all night and could not turn on the heater (dead batteries in remote perhaps) place is a mess in the daylight. Absolute dump. Never staying there again. Should have read reviews as they were spot on.
- W Douglas (3/5): Avoid this place. - The location was near an event we were attending. Left-over food and garbage left in the refrigerator. Not enough towels or paper products. No coffee in room.
VERY noisy pipes and shower failed during use. Skipped breakfast just to get out of the place.
- Puhach (4/5): - It was nice location and good view Staff couldn’t figure out what room give to us. Tv didn’t work, sockets didn’t work as well. Room was under renovation still but they decided to move us in. Feels like its under new management.
- Guest (8/5): -
- TONY (3/5): - First they offer very dirty room. I requested another room then give me good room. But heater not working. My suggestion it need to improve to compare with above average motels.
- Sumith (5/5): -
- Barbara (2/5): - I’m not typically a critical person. This is the first negative room I’ve ever posted. The room was dirty and the bathroom was worse. It clearly had not been cleaned. Previous guest’s soap left in the shower, soap scum/residue from bar soap on shower shelf and on sink. Toilet not clean either. Spilled something on top of the mini fridge. The room had a smell we think was bug spray. Our room had a cheap doorknob know that didn’t feel secure at all. We pushed furniture in front of the door to alert us if someone tried to come in. We had other people in our group and the two other rooms occupied by them weren’t better. One couple skipped showering because the bathtub didn’t look clean. I would not stay there again and wouldn’t recommend it to others.
- Daniel (8/5): - Good overnight
- Joanna (4/5): - Questionable electrical and holes in the wall with insulation showing. Didn’t enjoy the stay. Breakfast was unappealing.
- Neil (10/5): -
- Justin (4/5): - The reviews here lead me to believe that this was a decent hotel. I spent time and money killing about a dozen flies and ladybugs in the hotel before I stayed. The tables were all dusty and clearly the areas under them are not cleaned regularly. I'm glad I didn't get bed bugs which is why I gave them 2/5
- Kellame (6/5): - No microwave in the units , breakfast area so untidy 🙂
- Jack (2/5): -
- Francois (2/5): - Like. Nice view of the lake
Dislike: everything. Terrible place
- dw (2/5): - Dirty, disgusting bathroom, stained chairs, cement block walls, dirty floors.
- Rick (6/5): - This is basic accommodation. Its an older motel that's had a few upgrades and some poorly applied cosmetics. When it comes to shelter, a bed and bathroom, it functions.
- Susan (10/5): - Loved the lake view. A nice clean quiet place to stay right off the ferry! Would definitely stay again!
- Sonia (8/5): Wonderful Stay - Highly Recommended! - We were very happy with the place! The location was great, and we especially loved the park right outside our room with a beautiful view. This was incredibly convenient since we were traveling with our dog.
While the hotel has a noticeable vintage charm, it was well-maintained and felt cozy. A small issue came up when the mini-fridge in our room wasn't working, but we mentioned it at the front desk, and they promptly replaced it with a new one, which we appreciated.
Finally, the breakfast was homemade and quite good. We definitely recommend this spot!
- Darcy (4/5): - First
On the website it was said pay at property my credit was charged before we got they I was going to use cash!
Second
The beds were like sleeping on a board! Hard very uncomfortable!
The grounds of the hotel not cleaned.
The blankets had human waste on it! Find it after the slept it in!
No coffee machine,
the value is not worth it at all! Not again!
- Patricia (2/5): - The bathroom sink hot water tap banged if the cold water wasn’t turned on first and then there was no hot water. The tub mat was mouldy so awful.
The white towels were actually brown and stained.
This was their deluxe king room. It was disgusting !
- Janet (4/5): - No bath towels… breakfast was a joke! - bottled water in room because of the stench of the tap water - hard to even shower in the water, lamps on tables but didn’t work because there was no place to plug them in… had to unplug TV to plug in my cell phone … and I paid extra to have a king bed! The sheets seemed clean - very disappointing! Would NOT recommend. Lake view? There is a lake down the hill on other side of buildings, across the road, down the bank…
- Malcolm (2/5): - It was a nice view Water stank and the bed was broke we rolled into the middle
- june (2/5): - This was a handy man fix it room there was caulking smeared on top of the baseboards that could have been finished better and then painted the room was old and needed to be painted and large furniture was pushed to the walls the tv didn’t work ,there was hardly any hot water the white towels looked grubby the only thing nice about the room was the bed was comfortable I would not stay here again.
- Bonnie (7/5): -
- Mary Mylene (10/5): - Gorgeous views, great
location which was very near to the ferry to go to the Cabot trail, room was spacious, queen sized beds, hot breakfast, owner was very accommodating, price was of good value.
- Deanna (4/5): - Rooms were clean
Bed was brutal. Too hard and uncomfortable. I barely slept and could barely walk out of there. We left long before breakfast was offered.
- Michael (2/5): - We arrived at approx 3:30PM on Sep 23rd for 2 nights.
After being shown to our room by someone that worked there but didn't know anything about the place whom couldn't even get TV running we were left to wait for more than 45 mins before someone else arrived at the premises to assist us. Our first room was #8..... the walls had holes in them, the air conditioner installation wasn't complete, the fridge had stains in it, the washroom taps were gross. The toilet height was not of standard height. My 81 year old mother couldn't crouch down low enough to sit on the toilet.
He then offered room #17 in which we declined due to height of the toilet.
We left this motel in search for another and did not stay for either night booked.
I am seeking full reimbursement for both nights. I believe you have one bad apple amongst your choices that are offered. My Itinerary number was 72066447595709.
I have also included 8 pics illustrating my displeasure.
Tks in advance
Regards
- Wayne (8/5): - This facility appears to be in a remodel stage. The lighting was poor in the room. I slept well and it has agood breakfast. It certainly filled our need for just an overnight stay.
- Mary Mylene (10/5): - Big room with gorgeous views at a very affordable price. . The hot breakfast even how simple it was, was always a treat for travellers.
- Deb (6/5): - Roadside motel quality
- Douvaughn (10/5): - Nice and simple. Operator was friendly and rooms were clean
- Priscilla (6/5): - Overall ok need music in the Brkfst room or tv.
- Dongyun (9/5): -
- Kening (10/5): - Nice view
- ERZSEBET (6/5): - Still OK
- Leona (2/5): - Checked in to room strong odor of febreeze couldn’t stay and wouldn’t give money back
- Guest (1/5): Terrible - Nothing It was dirty outside very run down rooms need upgrading and there was a smell in them the water also had a smell to it almost yellow all around terrible used a face clothe and it just disengrated while using it
- William (4/5): - Electrical was questionable… exposed wires on lamp
- Kathleen (8/5): - Beds super comfortable - rooms clean , ran out of hot water halfway through shower - they are working on renovating - Owner was accomodating
- Chrystine (8/5): - Helpful staff
- Deborah (6/5): - I arrived pretty tired after getting up very early to catch the Port aux Basques ferry and then the long ferry ride. First, the positive. I've stayed in a lot of places and they had, bar none, the best coffee ever. I appreciated the breakfast although bare bones. Place was quite clean.
Check in didn't make me feel very welcome. First, the owner said he will not allow dogs in the future. Ok- that didn't feel good as I arrived with my dog and they said they were pet friendly. It was dark and I am a solo female traveller. They sent me to a behind the motel, more remote room, backing onto some kind of hill, with nobody around. I never found the room and insisted on being in front with other people. So after driving around, going back to the front desk and nobody there. Had to call them on the phone. Not the friendliest people and never tried to help me out.
No wifi pw in the room- walk back across property to front desk. It's on the wall at the front desk- but of course they don't tell you that. Then, wifi and TV don't work. Back to front desk. Oh,,,, the switch on the wall that would be for a light actually turns wifi and tv on/off.
The room was clean but dated. But not a single paper cup in the room. Nothing. Couldn't adjust AC and the room was stuffy. The bathtub/shower was from the 60's- so I wouldn't use it.
Those who rated this place 10/10 are either fake reviews or these people don't get out much. The most I would rate this place is 6/10. Skip it
- joan (6/5): - We selected this motel because if it's close proximity to the NL ferry ...It was disappointing since we selected the upgraded King Suite option..we found it to be dated and just ok in comparison to other places we've stayed and paid the same money for...
The so called "hot breakfast " was less than desirable with undercooked sausages ..and eggs offered .
It's not a place we would go back to ..
- Eddie (8/5): - Nice
- Leona (6/5): - The beds and bathroom were clean, however, the property is overdue for a renovation and upgrade.
- lisabQ8067FI (10/5): Book this Inn you won’t be sorry. - My husband, pet and I stayed here for 2 nights due to ferry issues, we couldn’t have asked for better hosts the team here are very awesome and accommodating. Rooms are a little dated but you can see they are in the middle of renovations, beds were comfortable, no issues with a/c or heat which being September both ended up being needed. The view was excellent as well. Only 20 minutes to the ferry and North Sydney where you can go for lunch or supper.
- Mehak (6/5): - Need some work on better staffing and breakfast options
- Angela (8/5): - The room was good for the price but our WiFi did not work in the room.
- Debbie (2/5): - I would never recommend this place to anyone - nothing like the photos - very disappointing
The rooms smell strongly of febreze
The room and the reception/dining area were dirty and unappealing.
- Lucie (6/5): - The location was good to go toward Sydney to visit Louisbourg and the zines museum. The view of the room was good. There was a lack of commodities.
- Michael (1/5): Left the room after arriving and went to another hotel. No refund issued. This place should be closed down. - Did not like anything. Had to leave and go to another hotel Everything
Very dirty
Blood stains on the sheets
Hairs in the bed
Found scab in the bed sheets
Toilet was dirty
Water smells like rust
Room is very dated
Junk out on the front yard
- Janet (8/5): - I believe they just brought this property. Learning about running a hotel. They try hard. .beds good.
- Gail (4/5): Only if nothing else available - Location Upkeep of the property. Cigarette smell in the room. Trash outside.
Photos of the site not really actual.
- Jonathan (10/5): - It was a quick last minute stop and it was perfect for the night. When we woke up and left bright and early, we didn’t realize the wonderful view the night before. Pleasant surprise!
- Lynda (6/5): Attentive Staff - The staff were very helpful. The owner has put a lot of upgrades in. However it still needs work. The shower curtain and tub mat need replacing. They serve a nice breakfast with a good variety. I couldn’t get a wi-fi connection in our room? The staff aim to please.
- Chase (10/5): - Friendly staff, late check in, clean rooms, great views
- Kenneth (6/5): - Very convenient location right on the highway and nice view. As others have stated the customer service is lacking as in the office is not staff at all times during midday although someone did answer the phone number left on the door. Hot breakfast was just okay. There would certainly be better options within 30 minutes. If it was the only place available I would stay again as the setting is fantastic, but would try to find something else even it it meant I had drive a bit
- Guenter (3/5): - Das erste Zimmer war scheinbar nicht gereinigt. Das zweite dann am nächsten Tag.
Frühstück mehr als spartanisch
- doris (6/5): - Needs further updating and maintenance. Fairly clean. Staff was friendly and accomodating
- Ron (8/5): - It had a lovely view and it had been upgraded. The only negative would be the toulet which needs replacing badly! The owner was very helpful and pleasant.
- Guest (1/5): Would never stay here again - Nice view, drive-up room access from ground floor The front desk man was rude and abrasive. The room had a noxious smell of chemicals - heavy use of Lysol or bug spray, which was sickening. The room had cinder block walls and a metal ceiling that felt like the inside of a prison cell or a shipping container.
- Torilee (2/5): Bedbug. Avoid - We booked this hotel based on the mostly good reviews on the booking site-8/10 and 10/10 for the majority of the reviews. There were the odd 4/10 reviews but you always have some of those so we didn’t think too much of them. Our experience was really bad.
Pros: a really nice view, a fridge & a location that was a perfect stop for that point on our trip. But that’s the end of the positives.
We stayed in room 10. The bathroom needs to be gutted, it’s full of mildew and the faucets were full of limescale and rust. It smelled very musty. A previous guest had drawn a happy face on the mirror with a bar of soap and it wasn’t cleaned off.
Then it got worse. Around 11:30 pm we found a BEDBUG crawling on the edge of one of the pillows. We only found one bug and did not find eggs but upon closer inspection there were multiple blood stains on the bedskirts and a layer of dust on the lower part of the bedside furniture. The sheets had hairs in them that were not ours.
We did not end up sleeping in the room after the discovery. One of us slept in the vehicle and the others stayed up all night perched in vigilance watching for other critters. Spoke to the manager who asked for pictures of what we found, said he would address it with the cleaning staff. We left and followed up later on, asking for a partial refund, which he said he would. Now that our trip is done we followed up because no refund was received and gave 2 days to respond. Nothing. Would not recommend staying here.
- Doris (6/5): - Beautiful scenery, good parking up to the door, staff easily accessible.
- Gwen (6/5): - Rooms could use some serious upgrading, making it look unclean. Bed was decent . Breakfast was hot. Owner is friendly. But we likely would not stay there again.
- Mireille (6/5): -
- Sue (8/5): - Very clean . Good breakfast and coffee. Parking was inconvenient
- Waddell (7/5): Great view - Location and view were great, the room was ok and breakfast was good and a bonus was a teapot Noise from the highway
- Deb (8/5): Nice place, nice views, comfy - We enjoyed our one night stay. The rooms were clean & the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was basic but still had several options & was good for what we wanted. Bottled water was left in the room which was a nice bonus.
- Guest (3/5): - You get what you pay for
- Bolduc (4/5): -
- Beverley (6/5): - Looks like improvements are being done to this Inn, but sloppy workmanship in trying. Could use more effort to make it more likeable.
- Phillipe (10/5): For the price you get a good motel - Great location, Breakfast was good food, Very quiet, beds were fine. Staff were extremely polite and helpful Needs a little TLC in the bathroom area
- Raymond (7/5): -
- Larissa (10/5): - Great view!
- Marmik (1/5): -
- Jinal (2/5): - Worst property
- Aimee (6/5): - Nice breakfast in the morning. Rooms are dated and the bathroom could of used a deep cleaning. Quiet on the property
- Serge (1/5): - Le téléviseur ne fonctionnait pas. Les planchers étaient sales, etc.
- Joan (6/5): - Location and view was good. The breakfast had fewer selections but was good. The staff were nice. The rooms were outdated, and the shower was old but it was fairly clean.
- Chi-Kwan (6/5): - Facing the lake, nice view, but also in front of a busy highway.
- Demers (9/5): -
- GAGANDEEP (10/5): - good
- Alan (10/5): - Stunning view of the lake, comfortable bed with heatpump AC and a hot breakfast. It was one of the best budget motels we’ve ever stayed at.
- JAMIE (8/5): - Convenient spot. A little noisy, from the highway but beds were comfy. A little dated, but perfect for quick stay. Decent breakfast, as well.
- Dorothy (4/5): - We found the owners of the hotel to be very nice. Our room was very outdated and dingy. The lighting was poor in the room so reading was next to impossible. One lamp did not have a lightbulb. The grounds had lots of cardboard laying around from shipments I guess. It has been hard to comment as "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all" but we stayed out each night as long as possible. As I mentioned the owners were nice.
- Sharon (4/5): - Outdated, filthy, tub not cleaned, baseboards dirty. The bed was comfortable and the sheets may have been cleaned. Property run down and no maintenance
- Dawn (2/5): This is a stay you dream about. Not in a good way - This was not what we were expecting. The pictures of the rooms are way nicer than the actual rooms.
We were here for two nights and really happy to leave. If you are coming here set your expectations before you stay. There is no way this is a 3 star place
Pros
- the bed was comfortable
- AC was cold
Cons
- room was not as clean as we were looking for
- main light in the room was broken with no light bulb
- there were insects in the bed when we pulled back the sheet. Flying ants
- when we turned the room exhaust fan on multiple very large insects came flying out
- the tub no slip mat didn’t look as clean as I would have hoped for
- one of our towels had something orange all over it. We returned it to ask for clean replacement
- the water source must be shared with adjoining rooms. When having a shower the hot water would just stop and then you were having a cold shower. The water pressure would only come out in a pencil thin stream randomly.
- breakfast was included but not something we enjoyed. The whole offering was very bland and we didn’t know what kind of meat was in the sausage. We ate out on our second morning.
- we had to wait a really long time to try and check out. When we finally found someone to help they told us to just leave the key on the desk and go.
- John (6/5): - Convenient location for the Cabot Trail and Baddet.
You might asked for a renovated room rather than Mountain or water view.
The grounds are not well kept. Evidence of ongoing/unfinished projects
- Maria Bella April (8/5): - The place is good enough as a motel. It's clean, quiet and simple. The free breakfast is also what makes it good. They only have one TV channel that we can actually watch on.
