Guest Reviews
- McCafferty (9/5): Excellent value for money. Will definitely stay again. - The staff were very welcoming. The premises were clean and all the basics were provided. We had a lovely sea view and we were shown the guest kitchen facilities and lounge area before being escorted to our room.
- Samantha (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Alan (10/5): - We traveled there to do a cycling race in gatehouse and the accommodation suited us perfectly, It was quiet and clean, it had a kitchen (no cooker) with microwave, kettle, fridge, air fryer, slow cooker. perfect place for us. Its a very quiet little area with one very small village shop, I couldn't see anywhere you could get a restraint or any where you might be able to get a meal.
- Matthew (9/5): -
- Stewart (9/5): - The upgrade to a double bed The mattress could have been more supportive
- Yvonne (8/5): Good one night stopover. - Clean and comfortable. Nice view. Bed was nice. Downstairs shared kitchen was lovely and nice people to chat to. Nothing,
- Donal (10/5): Great place to overnight just off Cairnryan ferry - Great value for money
- Margaret (10/5): Warm and welcoming. Warm cosy and eventing you need. - Very welcoming. Clear instructions if arriving late. Lovely and warm. Nothing everything was excellent
- Rachel (10/5): Great for an overnight stop off - Lovely accommodation, Very clean & easy to find. Very helpful & friendly hosts.
- Paul (7/5): -
- Diane (10/5): Lovely break away - Peacefulness cleanliness good comms and lovely helpful staff nothing to report
- SUSAN (9/5): Excellent little place in Creetown - I have stayed at Barholm before. Very nice, quiet and clean with well equipped kitchen. Could only get lukewarm water in shower
- bruce (7/5): Very restful. Good facilities - The accommodation was simple but clean and secure. The staff member I met was very helpful and found a secure room for my bike, existing facilities being full on the day. For someone looking for very good value, clean self catered accommodation I'd certainly recommend the premises. Nothing.

- eaves (8/5): - Staff are very helpful and lovely people 😊 Leaving
- Chris (8/5): - Clean, friendly, basic but adequate for our needs.
- eaves (8/5): - How cheap it was Nothing
- eaves (8/5): - Value Nothing
- Laure (7/5): -
- Colin (10/5): Great stay, Lisa and Panny looked after us well - Very nice rooms. Good shared kitchen.
- eaves (7/5): - Price reasonable Lots of information about food places and great value for stays
- Lisa (7/5): Good value, comfortable youth hostel style accommodation - It was very clean, cosy with a good sized room, TV, and good hot, compact shower in the ensuite. Overall good value. The soundproofing could be improved as we could clearly hear the couple in the room above singing, talking, arguing and pacing until the wee small hours.
The kitchen was clean with plenty of storage, fridges, kettles, toasters, microwaves and an air fryer, but a simple electric hob would have been invaluable for cooking pasta or rice for my kids.
- Dee (10/5): A weight off my mind - Staff were very understanding of my predicament at the time, much appreciated. All good
- elilmbt (10/5): -
- michael (8/5): - Clean easy access Heating radiator didn't work
- Pam (7/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Chris (8/5): Relatively basic but clean, secure and great value. - Very good value. Great to have kitchen access and covered bike storage.
- ross (8/5): Overnight stay in Creetown - Very good location to explore the within peninsula as well as Sustrans route 7 routes across Galloway.
Very comfortable and quiet location just off the A75.
This my fourth stay. Only daylight lighting in the kitchen cooking area.
- Shahid (9/5): -
- Yachao (9/5): -
- Fawad (10/5): It’s nice and comfy stay - Very nice and quite Every things was ok
- Mark (8/5): - comfy bed - not hard to find
access to kitchen for tea coffee and space to sit and eat if you wished
remote access - while i didnt arrive in the middle of the night - i arrived later than planned so good that didnt have anyone waiting for me the stairs
didnt know at the time of booking but if youre on the 2nd or 3rd floor theres quite a few stairs and a bit steep
also at the entrance round the back theres some stone steps down to the door
- Debbie (9/5): - Excellent value for money, room was a good size. Well fitted out kitchen facilities Hot water pressure was very low in the ensuite bathroom
- Nik (8/5): Clean tidy and comfortable - Clean tidy and comfortable
- Danielle (10/5): -
- Ermioni Fragkoulidou (8/5): - Great view, very quiet and serene, good shared kitchen and appliances provided. Low ceilings, which made the room feel smaller. The bed was really uncomfortable.
- James (9/5): Great place to stay and get access to Dumfries and Galloway - Clean, nice and good facilities
- Salman (10/5): -
- Buster (5/5): Car park full of dog mess. - Kitchen facilities were a bonus. The amount of dog s**t around the car park. Absolutely ridiculous, apparently it’s a dog waking area. But the amount that was there in the morning around my car was ridiculous. The ceilings were also considerably low, low door frames and lights. If you are 6ft 2 plus you need to keep your head down. The shower also needs new sealant, it was covered in stained marks.
- craig (8/5): -
- Murray (10/5): Great stay in the Ferrytoon - Great price, easy check in, spotlessly clean 10/10
- lucy (9/5): Great value accommodation and enjoyed the area! - Very spacious accommodation, nice touch that towels provided and en-suite toilet and shower made a huge difference. Kitchen area was great and we were able to cook our evening meal in the air fryer. Very quiet location and a good base for days activities in the local area. We particularly enjoyed the gem rock museum in the village!
- Julie (9/5): Great value, clean and comfortable - Quiet village location with off-street parking. Check in was easy and communication with host re door code etc was good. Kitchen is well equipped with fridge freezer, kettles, toasters, microwaves and air fryer. Lots of information about local facilities, restaurants etc was provided Nothing. We enjoyed our stay at Barrholm
- Sally (8/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Wilding (10/5): -
- kathleen (9/5): Amazing friendly helpful staff and comfortable place to stay - Friendly staff, clean comfortable room, well-equipped kitchen Nothing
- Kirsti (8/5): -
- Gillian (9/5): - Very reasonably priced, very clean and comfortable. It was all okay
- Darren (9/5): Great Accomodation very affordable - Very clean accomodation on ground floor very convenient if going from or to the ferry at cairnryan
- Shizada (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - Perfect for the price. Warm, large enough. Decent shower. No hassle, would definitely use again.
- Angela (10/5): Brilliant place to stay - When Im down this neck of the woods I always choose here as its exceptionally well priced. I feel comfortable and safe. The rooms are comfortable, clean and staff very welcoming. For the 1st time I experienced a short power cut. It was good the safety lights came on. However it was a bright ceiling light. If this had been on all night it would have been difficult to sleep. I would have preferred a bedside light. Other than that everything was prefect.
- Lorraine (10/5): - Great place to stay. Lovely setting & a pretty village. Very friendly & helpful staff ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nothing
- Alexander (8/5): - No breakfast was provided and provision in local area is limited. Booking.com provided misleading info regarding distance to Wigtown. I chose Creetown over Newton Stewart as Booking.com indicated it was closer to Wigtown which it is by direct distance but I have to go through Newton Stewart to get to Wigtown. This also happened when I booked for Hartlepool and Booking.com recommended Redcar but didn't say that I had to travel through Middlesborough first so Sunderland would have been a better choice as it is on the same train line although further away. Check-in arrangements are very poor as there was no-one at reception and I had to phone a number to get instructions even though I arrived within the times given (around 8pm) - in fact I met no staff at all during my visit and not everyone has a phone with them.
- Darren (10/5): -
- David (10/5): - Location Poor parking by other guests
- mel (9/5): - Just great
- Mike (10/5): -
- Clare (9/5): Comfy, basic but beautiful base - Clean and basic but clean and comfortable every time now our third visit we really love it as a base and very friendly every time x Nothing
- Lorna (8/5): - Great location for getting the ferry from cairnryan. It's clean and the shower is a good pressure and hot! The beds are a little squeaky and unfortunately my TV didn't work
- Lorna (7/5): - Clean room with food kitchen facilities and good location to get the ferry from cairnryan My bed was a bit squeaky and not the most comfortable
- MEW (9/5): excellent - Brilliant guy to see to us upon arrival
very nice room and bathroom
very nice setting we would stay there again nothing all good
- Siobhan (10/5): Great communication. Clean and comfortable. Will stay again - Clean and comfortable
- Kenneth (8/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Jana (8/5): - Rezervovala jsem čtyři pokoje. Dva jednolůžkové byly pod střechou (2. patro) a další dva vícelůžkové byly v přízemí. Příjemné bylo posezení venku, kde jsme večeřeli i snídali. Pokoje odpovídaly kategorii hostelu a v podstatě se jim nedalo nic vytknout. Pro naši skupinu 8 lidí nebyly v kuchyni větší hrnce. V jedné koupelně v pokroví byla plíseň.
- Margaret (6/5): - This is basically a hostel, even the private room felt like that. No amenities in the room or bathroom, or even a place to set shampoo in the shower. I also had confusing communication about how to get in after 7:00.
That said, the people were nice, the bed was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was handy (especially since all I could get for dinner was frozen cottage pie at the shop, which closes at 8:00!).
All in all, an “okay” experience.
- Hannah (10/5): Good place to stay, close to where we needed to be -
- Jiten (9/5): Comfortable for the price. - Stayed last Saturday of August. Simple room. Shame we couldn't push the two single beds together to make a double. Well equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals. Large Sainsbury's in Newton Stewart. Good location for Kirroughtree Forest walks; especially if you want to experience the Dark Sky Park. Staff didn't respond when we messaged/telephoned about leaving our thermos flask in the room. Wanted to know if it had been found so we could return to collect. Had to buy another one.
- Mary (9/5): Great value for money. - Location - great for o/n stay before getting ferry to Belfast. Tea/coffee facilities in room would be helpful - staircase steep and winding so not suitable for all.
- Kerri (8/5): Lovely and clean and centrally located. Would definitely recommend. - It was nice and central and spotlessly clean! The lady checking us in was very friendly and helpful. It was very peaceful and quiet. The beds were very comfortable with lovely clean, good quality linen. The room was quite warm, next time we will bring a fan with! A small issue with the ceiling light which was glowing green all night. Not enough to keep us awake, but it was a bit annoying.
- ian (9/5): - All good
- Maureen (10/5): - Kitchen facilities were excellent, sleeping accommodation very comfortable and the whole place was extremely well maintained and cleaned to a very high standard. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived. Nothing!
- Sara (9/5): -
- annette (8/5): - Awesome stay, staff were lovely and the food and coffee was excellent. Only observation is that people were a bit inconsiderate with how they parked their vehicles
- Liz (9/5): A great value , clean stop - Great Value, Clean, Friendly, well located, basic but value for money ideal for our stop over with dogs enroute to the ferry. It's not a case of not liking. It was basic, reflected in the price, you're not going to be getting thick fluffy towels and in room hairdryers, etc. No complaints, we got what was needed.
- Janet (10/5): A nights stay - Easy to access
Close to where i needed to be
Great location & price Needs a kettle & cups in room
- David (8/5): -
- Paul & Adele (10/5): - Great value for money. Well equipped shared kitchen and comfortable clean room with ensuite. Was as per photos Nothing to dislike
- Oleksii (10/5): -
- Annarita (10/5): -
- Pippa (9/5): Excellent value and very pet friendly. - Location was really good and it was excellent value. It was very pet friendly which was such a plus. The standard of cleanliness was excellent. We were asked to swap rooms which did taking the dog out in the night a bit more awkward but not a huge deal. Having a hob in the kitchen would have been a addition.
- martin (8/5): -
- Em (9/5): A really good surprise and great advert for this style of accommodation. - Immaculately clean. Best equipped kitchen facilities in a bunkbarn/hostel type accommodation I’ve ever seen. Brilliant host, really helpful even contacting us in advance about where we could eat or buy food to cook when the local pub wasn’t open. Mattress not good quality and not supportive.
- Mary (10/5): Great o/n stay before getting early morning ferry to Belfast. - Perfect location for o/n stay en route to ferry port at Cairnryan. Nothing.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Helen (8/5): A clean and comfy stay with off road parking. - A clean, comfortable room and off road parking. Friendly, helpful staff. The green, safety light in the bedroom.
- Elise (9/5): Highly recommend this accommodation - Friendly staff, lovely location. Great facilities. Surprised at the excellent gemstone museum around the corner. Lovely village. Nothing.
- Stephanie (10/5): Friendly and attentive staff. - Hostel-I provided my own breakfast.
- Karl (8/5): - Lovely quiet location and very close to the viaduct walk N/A
- alison (10/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): - Room worked well for the family. Green emergency light was very bright at night and kept children awake.
- Fay (9/5): - Good value for money .
Only a one night stay to break up journey back from the highlands.
Comfy bed ,well equipped, informative host ..cheap garage down the road so fill up .
Would stay again, thank you .
