• Adam (9/5): Beautiful haven in oaxaca - Lovely small hotel in a beautiful quiet part of the city, I really enjoyed my walks to and from the centre and always felt safe. La Casa Carlota is a very nice place to stay in Oaxaca it's small but cosy and the terrace where you have breakfast is very peaceful. I would recommend to anyone who appreciates a more home away from home experience as opposed to a more corporate hotel. Nothing particular had an issue getting hot water from the shower on my first night but I mentioned to the staff and it was absolutely fine after that.

• Stacey (6/5): Good location but not family friendly and a bit noisy. - The location is really good. The styling was cool. The staff were helpful but quite intense. The noise, one night the music went till 1am. We were pre warned of some noise but not the that extent. It was like being in a club. I also found it was not family friendly. The communal area isn't very comfortable. We were on split floors and it wasn't ideal.

It served on the rooftop when the weather was good and sometimes served at the dining room as well. It is located in a quiet area in downtown. The hotel is close to many good restaurants and the well known tourist areas. It is a very nice place, however, I felt the price was a bit high.

Ich hatte zwei Nächte gebucht, bin nach der ersten Nacht ausgezogen, bekam kein Geld zurück. Begründung: auf den Fotos sind ja auch keine Fenster zu sehen, also alles ok! Weder Casa Carlota noch booking.com sahen einen Fehler! Ich finde, wenn man ein Zimmer ohne Fenster für immerhin 100 Euro anbietet, muss man das dazuschreiben!

• Mina (8/5): Great hospitality! - こじんまりとした宿でとても落ち着いた雰囲気だった。スタッフもみんなフレンドリーで、とても温かくもてなしてくれた。1つ問題があって、スペイン語でのコミュニケーションが必要な場面で、献身的にサポートしてくれて、解決までもっていってくれた。 朝食の開始時間が遅い。ツアーに参加する場合、ピックアップが8：30より前なので、朝食をスキップせざるを得ない。せめて、Breakfast boxか、簡単なパンとヨーグルトなどだけでも早めに準備してもらえるとありがたい。 中心地から少し遠く、細めの道沿いにあるので、夜遅くなるのは少しはばかられた。

• EVA (10/5): Gorgeous, welcoming boutique hotel near the centre of Oaxaca - Gorgeous boutique hotel on a quiet street near the centre of Oaxaca, with an incredibly welcoming and helpful team running it! My favourite hotel during our 2-week holiday travelling around Mexico. We had the ground floor room, which was well quiet and beautifully decorated throughout. The home-cooked breakfast options and the coffee were delicious. No dislikes, just the most minor thing about the fact that I felt bad having to ring the doorbell and bother the staff to let us in later in the evenings.
• Abel (10/5): A++ stay, incredible staff and great hotel - This was our favourite place we have stayed in Mexico so far. The staff were very kind and attentive, they were very cheery and did anything they could to make sure we had an amazing stay. There is a wonderful roof terrace and the breakfast (which is often served here) is also great with a different cooked option each day (e.g. omelette), cereals, juice, yoghurt, different fruits etc. The decor was very cool, the shower was great, we had all amenities we needed (hairdryer, iron, coffee machine etc.) Nothing really, I think bedding wise we generally prefer a duvet but understand why they go for blankets as it's warm in Oaxaca

We value the way the staff went above and beyond to make our experience in Oaxaca positive. We encountered some travel issues and they were so positive and made a really stressful situation feel light and optimistic! We appreciate that at the heart of house Carlota are people who value empathy and kindness! There is nothing we did not like!
• Orsi (8/5): Good place to stay with some minor issues - Very authentic small B&B with only 5 rooms which I really liked. It is located some mins walk from center. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Room is very clean, bed is extremely comfy. The room had no window only a glass door that was blurred so not really light coming thru. Therefore the room is pretty dark. Also as it is located in an open ceiling house you can hear all the noise from street. Fortunately I had earplugs, but this is very unfortunate as everyone in the hotel was super friendly and nice.

• Anne (10/5): Experience an exceptional stay at La Casa Carlota - The daily breakfast was outstanding. There was an assortment of cold items, yogurt, granola, cereal, and fruit, as well as a different hot item every morning. We loved the outdoor setting of our meal, either in the interior courtyard or on the rooftop. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our room was cleaned on a daily basis, and we were given a couple of evening treats that awaited us at the end of the day. I have no suggestions for improvement. We had an exceptional experience at La Casa Carlota.

• Adam (8/5): Easy walk to everywhere - Location was great. Easy walk to both the cultural museum and the Zocalo. Many tours started down the street at the stone plaza. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even with limited English. Wi-Fi was excellent and so was the morning breakfast. They even gave a surprise mezcal treat the first night. You’re required to buzz for a staff member every time you enter, would have preferred an access code or key fob entry. Also no TV, which I always use to get local information and use as white noise when sleeping.

• Madeleine (10/5): 10/10, Would Recommend To A Friend - We loved EVERYTHING about La Casa Carlota. First and foremost, La Casa Carlota has an incredible staff. They were so attentive, helpful and friendly. They never missed a beat and gave us plenty of recommendations for activities, places to eat and modes of transportation. The location was wonderful, especially because as a closed-street, there is very little car traffic. We were so close to downtown and the area around the hotel felt safe day and night. The breakfasts were great. There was always plenty water available. There were multiple areas outside of the room to hang-out in, including a living room, outdoor dining area, and lovely rooftop terrace. We were sad to leave.

There is always somebody present, and they are always willing to help you! The tour they recommended was also worth it! The full breakfast is only available as of 8h30, but many of the activities start as of 8h30, it would be great if breakfast could be one hour earlier.

It was clean, the staff were helpful and always pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was super great…served at a large table family style. Also, I loved that there was filtered water available instead of buying plastic bottle each day.

• Jan (8/5): Nice - Very nice staff and location When you check in you get a rather large email with their Terms & Conditions and they’re not afraid to use them. We had an unfortunate incident (my wife became quite sick) and unfortunately spoiled a towel, although we wouldn’t have mind paying for it, almost (USD$35) $700 pesos seemed excessive given the towels are let’s say very well used! We loved our room but note that the description mentions a patio, and there wasn’t one.
• Hermelnda (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was great, very helpful, breakfast was good and complete. The neighborhood is very nice and safe. Also there is a deck in the roof (nice view) to relax, you can bring food and listen music. Downtown is a walking distance.

The staff were amazing and the breakfast (order the hot dish) was delicious. Construction was beginning for a new store next door. Luckily the construction was done while we weren’t in our room and the noise wasn’t too bad.

The breakfast is delicious - several cold options and then a hot Mexican breakfast prepared to order each day. The staff is super nice and helpful. The location is excellent in the Xochimilco area. Very cute property with only 5 rooms, so the attention to detail and kind service are especially noteworthy. Construction happening next door was sometimes loud in the mornings and afternoons, but not while sleeping. There are also dogs in the neighborhood that bark at night, but nothing a white noise app couldn't drown out. The doors to the rooms are sliding glass, so when people are walking in the hallway, it can be a bit noisy.

• Kilian (6/5): Don’t expect breakfast here. - The staff were nice, and the room was cleaned daily. The hotel is on a quiet street, a 15-20 minute walk from the main attraction. Guests were generally pleasant, with minimal noise from a nearby construction site. The beds were soft, and the shower head pressure was good compared to other accommodations in the city. I was extremely disappointed with the breakfast experience at the hotel. The timing, quality, and quantity of food fell short of expectations. On Saturday, the breakfast consisted of a mere tortilla with a tiny amount of beans, and the juice was simply flavored water—not the fresh, natural option one would hope for. The advertised breakfast hours were from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, but this turned out to be misleading. On Sunday, I left the hotel at 8:40 AM, and there was still no breakfast available. The night before, I had asked the hotel staff if it would be possible to have breakfast earlier, since we were scheduled for a tour at 8:30 AM, but our request was outright refused. It felt as if they deliberately withheld breakfast at the stated time, leaving us without any food before our departure. Given the high price we paid for this hotel—especially for a stay that included breakfast—I find it unacceptable that we did not receive what was promised. I value honesty and transparency, and under these circumstances, I cannot see myself returning to this hotel unless they offer a partial refund to compensate for the meals we missed.

• Kerry (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful oasis amongst the bustle of Oaxaca - The location of Casa Carlota was just perfect, on a quiet street but a really close walk into the main town area. We felt very safe and our room had everything we needed. The bed was HUGE and super comfy. Breakfast was a perfect mix of yoghurt/fruit & cereal with Mexican cooked delights - all very tasty and authentic. The roof terrace was lovely and breezy, perfect for a cold beer. The staff are super kind and very helpful. Couldn't really fault anything, they had building work going on next door, which was only really noisy during the day and we were given treats to apologise!
• Ed (9/5): Excellent value, walkable location. - This hotel has only 5 rooms so the level of personal service is extremely high. Our main contact was Dulce who was sweet as can be in addition to being fluent in English and very knowledgeable about how to get where you want to go. She arranged taxis for us for less than advertised here on Bookings.com. We walked almost everywhere as the location is a 15min walk to Zocalo, and on the street with the aqueduct which adds to the beauty. The room was clean, you have your own bathroom, coffee maker, bottled water, safe and hair dryer. Not a huge room but like most hotels they have a very comfortable rooftop area to lounge and watch the sunsets. Breakfast was fantastic and held us for most of the day. Fruit, cereals, yogurt, toast, sweet bread plus each morning they offer a hot entree made to order so it’s served piping hot. You will eat family style as all the guests are seated on possibly the largest table you will ever eat on made from one slab of wood. It is beautiful. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again. We absolutely loved the breakfast but it’s not served until 8:30 so not good for an early start on the day. They let you know you may have issues finding it if you are using Google Maps. We didn’t have issues but will point out their sign is very tastefully low key. The entryway has a metal gate and a wooden gate. For security you reach through the metal gate to ring a doorbell and the staff will let you in 24/7. We didn’t dislike this but wanted to point this out as it’s not common around the world.
