• Elodie (9/5): - On a aimé l'emplacement, au calme, à 5 mns de la plage, le confort, le balcon et sa jolie vue, le petit frigo et les échanges avec la sympathique Betty. ATTENTION au chemin à emprunter pour rejoindre la Casa del Alux! On a bien galéré et d'autres aussi : ne PAS suivre Maps! Du port, prendre l'avenida Tiburón Ballena puis à droite dans Paseo Kuka puis à droite dans Chac Chic, c'est tout au fond à droite Tout est chouette sinon!
• Clémence (9/5): - Nous avons passé un très bon séjour de 2 nuits dans ce logement, tout s'est très bien passé. La plage est vraiment proche. Le logement est légèrement excentré du centre, ce qui est très agréable car on n'entend aucun bruit de la rue ou de la vie nocturne de Holbox (tout à en restant vraiment à proximité). Nous avons pu louer des vélos pour 1h pour aller voir la bioluminescence.
• Joanna (10/5): A perfect stay in idyllic Holbox - Only a few minutes walk from the beach, this is located by a lagoon that offers stunning wildlife as your view as well as the sunrise. The visiting raccoons and iguanas to our balcony made for a memorable stay on an idyllic island.

• Nora (8/5): Eine nette ruhige Unterkunft in Holbox, naturverbunden und ohne Schnickschnack. - Das Zimmer war sehr groß und hatte eine kleine Terrasse. Wir haben die Ruhe sehr genosen und der Blick auf die Lagune war auch schön. Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche war schwach und das Zimmer ist ziemlich dunkel. Es gab keinen Kaffee für die Kaffeemaschine.
• Avinash (10/5): Perfect stay in a quite place - Place was very good, facing a lagoon and in a quite place away from noisy clubs/restaurants. All facilities were provided and the place was very spacious with a separate dining place and a kitchen. We could even use the patio in front of our room for our breakfast while watching the lagoon and occasionally being visted by a cute racoon and 2 iguanas (who minded their own business). They provided separate beach towels that one could take to the beach. Something else to highlight was the availability of clean filtered water so that one didn't have to buy more plastic bottles and adding to the trash on the island and misery of the planet. Our housekeeper, Betty, was very friendly and helpful. The owners had provided receommendations of different restaurants/pubs to check out, which was very useful. Nothing. Everything was amazing
• Szilvia (10/5): Pihenés és kikapcsolódás felsőfokon - Csendes, nyugodt mellékutcában van, mégis közel a parthoz és a központhoz. Betty nagyon segítőkész volt mindenben, 2 behűtött sörrel várt bennünket, ami a hosszú út után nagyon jól esett. A vadállatok közelsége (mosómedvék, leguánok) nagyon vidámmá és egzotikussá tették az ott tartozkodásunkat, folyamatosan mosolyt csaltak az arcunkra.

The hotel was close to the beach and downtown but far enough away that it was quiet. I’d definitely stay here again! Nothing
• Sophie (10/5): Fantastic location and a very quiet and beautiful little retreat - Fantastic location! Super quiet and calm, right by a lagoon with plenty of birds, it was such a welcome respite after the noise and tons of people in central Holbox. Only 5 minutes to the beach. We had the lower room called Sunrise. Very well equipped. Very pretty decor and overall comfortable, although the mattress was a bit hard (no padding). Betty the housekeeper is the cherry on the sundae. Kind, always smiling, always eager to help, she keeps the place very very clean! She did our bed every single day. Swept and cleaned the floors every day. And more. She is a gem 💎 We truly enjoyed our stay at Casa del Alux and highly recommend this place if staying in Holbox. We would have liked a small dining table on our assigned terrace outside. There's only a small cocktail table, not nearly large enough if you want to have a proper meal outside. We would also have appreciated if there had been two comfortable chairs to just sit and chill outside on the terrace (not lounging chairs). The 2 small chairs provided on our terrace were plastic, hard and not very comfy nor relaxing. The hammocks are great, but sometimes you feel like sitting in a comfy chair. But overall it did not prevent us from enjoying our stay.

• Sebastian (7/5): Solide aber teuer - Die Unterkunft war sehr ruhig und lag direkt an der Mangroven - dort konnte man viele Pelikane und Vögel beobachten. Die Küche war gut ausgestattet. Leider war die Haustür nicht anschliessend mit dem Boden, weshalb viele Ameisen kamen. Zudem war die Wohnung sehr dunkel und roch etwas modrig. Der Preis war leider sehr hoch für den Standard und die Qualität.

• Karla Gonzalez (10/5): El mejor lugar para hospedarse en Holbox - Casa del Alux es una propiedad increíble para hospedarse en Holbox. Mi esposo y yo estuvimos 4 noches a principios de Enero 2026 en la habitación "la vista" y nos encantó. El departamento tenía lo necesario para estar cómodos: refrigerador, cosas de cocina, caja fuerte, A/C, toallas para la playa, cama grande y baño. Las instalaciones estaban super limpias y en general se puede ver que el dueño le da mantenimiento constante a la propiedad, por lo que las fotos en booking son exactamente lo que encontramos al llegar. Apreciamos mucho las amenidades que incluían un garrafón de agua y dos hamacas en el balcón. La ubicación de Casa del Alux también es fantástica: a pocos minutos de la playa y del centro pero al mismo tiempo lo suficiente lejos para tener tranquilidad. Conocimos a los dueños: los dos super amables y siempre con recomendaciones. Asimismo, Betty siempre estuvo al pendiente de nosotros. Podemos recomendar esta propiedad y seguramente regresaremos cada vez que visitemos Holbox. El único detallito que no nos gusto fue el protector de colchón que tenía la cama. Era como de plástico, así que en la noche sudábamos un poco debido a esto.

• Janna (10/5): A perfect stay on Isla Holbox - We stayed in Casa Del Alux for 6 nights, and honestly, we could not have asked for a better accommodation to start our holiday! The apartment was super spacious, clean and cozy. It’s very close to the beach and the center with all the restaurants. We were warmly welcomed by the housekeeper Betty and we met the owners as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Everything was perfect.

Las instalaciones muy cómodas y prácticas. No llevábamos idea de utilizar la cocina pero algunos utensilios deberían ser renovados. O por ejemplo las mosquiteras.

• Zoe (10/5): We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Holbox! - We loved our stay here! A beautiful, peaceful location but still an easy walk to town and to the beach. The bikes available also made getting around the island even easier. The owners and Betty the housekeeper were really friendly and gave us great recommendations. Unfortunately there was some noisy construction going on for our final couple of days which disturbed the tranquility, but the owners were very kind about it and went above and beyond to make up for it.
• Martine (10/5): - If you want to enjoy Holbox and love the quiet and nature, this is the perfect place, bording the laguna where you can watch birds and crocidiles It's only 5 min walk from the center and 3 min from the beach. You find everything you need in the close surroundings, bakery, groceries, restaurants....the rooms are very comfortable, clean and you have everything you need for a pleasant stay.I loved the conversations with Betsy , the woman who looks after the place, always eager to make you feel comfortable. Would definitely return there again. Leaving the place when it was time to do so (after 8 nights)

• Gabers (10/5): A peaceful home - A quiet location, in a natural setting. We enjoyed the birds at the lagoon and the resident iguana. Nearby is a long walkable beach. The walk to the nature reserve was especially nice! The apartment is clean, with a great kitchen, and drinking water supplied. Betty the housekeeper is lovely! Nothing to not like.
• Paul (10/5): Ruhig gelegene, charmante Unterkunft mit viel Ausstattung. - Wir hatten einen 3 tägigen Aufenthalt in der Unterkunft und können diese uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Die Lage ist perfekt, schön ruhig gelegen und nur 3 Gehminuten von einem schönen Strandabschnitt, welcher zu unserer Zeit frei von Seegras war, entfernt. Ins Zentrum (Bars, ATM, etc.) sind es knappe 7-9 Minuten zu Fuß. Direkt um die Ecke ist ein größerer Obsthändler bei dem wir Weintrauben und Mangos gekauft haben. Die Ausstattung der Unterkunft war recht umfangreich: Kühlschrank, Besteckt, Geschirr, Kaffee, Zucker, Wasserspender, Seife, Duschgel, etc. Wir hatten keinen Fernseher im Zimmer, was jedoch kein Problem war. Und auf der Terrasse sieht man hin und wieder mal Waschbären. Die sieht man grundsätzlich aber noch häufiger auf der Straße im Müll umwühlen. Also alles in allem waren wir mit der Unterkunft sehr zu Frieden. Der einzige Punkt der mir einfällt ist, dass es kein TV im Zimmer gibt. Das ist aber keine negative Kritik, denn das Zimmer ist genau so beschrieben und das weiß man ja beim Buchen.

• Romero (10/5): - La tranquilidad de donde está ubicado. Céntrico pero tranquilo. No contábamos con que nos haría limpieza de habitación ni siquiera que nos hicieran las camas y cuándo regresabamos ya lo teníamos preparado. El espacio exterior de la casa estaba a capricho. Con hamacas, tumbonas, un sofá muy cómodo junto mesa y sillas. Quizás una televisión no le hubiera venido mál a la casa
• Madlen (9/5): Top für Gruppen, wenn man alle Zimmer bucht. - Der Blick auf die Mangroven war toll. Leider war nicht sehr viel Wasser drin, wir waren Mitte Juli vor Ort. Man kann viele Eidechsen, Gekkos und Leguane beobachten. Die Nähe zum Strand ist super. Die Ausstattung ist top. Bequeme Betten. Die Klimaanlage war sehr leise :) Die Haushälterin war schon Recht früh (8.00uhr) am Morgen vor Ort, sodass man sich morgens etwas beobachtet gefühlt hat, wenn man auf der Terrasse saß zum Kaffee trinken. Das Badezimmer könnte ein ganz kleines bisschen größer sein.

I've got a contact with the owner by messages but he seems to be nice person. But the housekeeper, Betty is lovely! She's every day around, keeping your place clean and fresh. And she's nice and friendly so you can feel very well in that place. And what is important- they care about you. First day we had problem with gas cooker. Nice man came to repair that quickly but finally owner decided to buy new one, a and it arrived after minutes . So you can expect that if you'd find any issues ,they won't leave you with it. Close to the beach and 15mins walk to the centre of Island. You can watch flamingos in the morning and even meet raccoons around your terrace😀 If you love a nature Highly recommend! Just take something for the mosquitos on the island and enjoy beautiful Holbox 🥰

• Adam (10/5): Perfektní ubytování ❤️ - Ubytování bylo naprosto skvělé. Vzdálenost od moře a města byla ideální (člověk měl naprostý klid a ticho a přitom byl všude za chvilku). V ubytování bylo naprosté soukromí a pozorování přírody, ptáků a mývalů na terase bylo úžasné. Pan provozovatel byl ochotný a napomocny, se vším poradil a pomohl nám zařídit i výlety po okolí. Bylo to nejhezčí ubytování, které jsme v Mexiku měli:) Všechno bylo perfektní
• Solene (9/5): Wonderful quiet and peace room - The location was great, near the beach by crossing the two main streets on the opposite side of the island The room was cleaned everyday by a really nice señorita. The room was very spacy with a balcony. Drinkable water was accessible with a curtesy jerrican, also a fridge, coffee and sugar. View above nature (dry mangrove in May) and quiet place. Pay attention to join the place by the Main Street & then Calle chac chic (and not by the east side along cause the street is ending before the lodge by nature !)

Quiet place, but still not far from the center and close to the beach for a morning walk. The room is very spacious and clean, very large comfortable bed. The room was spacious and well appointed. Great air conditioning and the lagoon is a great spot to relax. My only minor complaint was that the water pressure is not optimal, but it was hot and cold as preferred. The owner's communication was amazing as well. We would stay again in the future for sure!

The room itself was perfect—spacious, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Betty and the owner were exceptional, always quick to respond to requests and eager to help. The on-site bike rental was a huge plus, making it easy to explore the area. The location was Ideal. Just a 3-minute stroll to the beach, stores, restaurants, and a charming bakery. Also - close enough to the beach and town. I like the place. It’s not objectively super cheap, but I think it’s fairly priced compared to other options
• Diāna (9/5): Magical place ☀️ - The location is amazing! It's very quiet and unique. You literally feel like you’re in a mini zoo there. If you’re lucky, you might see raccoons, iguana and even the crocodile that lives in the lagoon visible from the terrace. It’s a 5-minute walk to the beach and shops. • Wareing (10/5): So quiet and clean, excellent location - Loved everything about this hotel. They nailed the basics. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The wifi is also really good as well. It is a 5-10 minute walk to both the beach and into town depending on you walk speed. The staff were really friendly and did an amazing job with our room, special mention and thank you to Bety. The view is also amazing for spotting wildlife and stargazing at night. Really, really enjoyed our stay here and was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. When we come back to Holbox we will definitely be staying here again.

We enjoyed the hammock, the views and the location; it was very peaceful, a bit away from the business however still a fine walking distance to the main square. We also found it helpful to rent bikes from the apartments, thanks Bety for sorting them out. We even got a quick viewing of the crocodile in the Lake which was amazing! Everything was great but very minor, we ended up having to buy shampoo as we hadn’t packed any as thought it may have been in the apartment!

• Heather (10/5): Great suite, great value, and great location - what more do you need? - We loved our location. We preferred the beach at the end of our road (5 min walk and just to the right). Best deal on the beach, quieter, comfy chairs, cheap drinks, good food and hammocks for 300 pesos. The host/housekeeper Bety is wonderful. Great job and so friendly. The beds were very comfortable and clean sheets often (we stayed 11 nights). The suite has everything except oven and corkscrew. Bring ground coffee if you want coffee at home. they like their instant! They also provided 5 gallon filtered water! Great value, you can stay ocean front for 3 x more but won’t get this suite and Bety! Walked to Punta Mosquito (go in morning low tide) and next day took taxi to Punta Coco for the day then walked home along beach - long but fun. If you like being a little away from the busy touristy but still walking distance (10 mins). We put on 10k steps easy everyday. We like that.
• Heather (10/5): Highly recommend if you don’t need to be right on the beach. - Everything. Very clean and quiet. We liked the location - a 5 min walk to the beach and 10 mins to the busy centre. We liked the kitchen and made breakfast, snacks, happy hour, etc. The beach is incredible and enjoyed good food everywhere. Drinks can be expensive- I recommend bringing a little more cash than you thought. One of our favourite restaurants is El Poblano on our street toward centre. Great food and prices are reasonable. Not the property’s fault but mosquitoes in the evening while we sat out on the beautiful porch (with hammocks!).
• teresa (10/5): - Casa del Alux is a clean, quiet, very well-maintained property within easy walking distance to the beach. It was a relief to return there at the end of the day!
• Ana (9/5): Peaceful oasis - Comfortable room, with all installations needed, with a great view, good location near the city center and yet very calm. Great balcony with hammocks and a table. Very peaceful, exactly what I was looking for. Betty, the house keeper is very friendly and helpful. Although it was very safe in general, as a solo female traveler I felt a bit vulnerable. The front door is left open at all times and there is no reception nor 24h staff. I caught myself always worrying if I properly locked the room door at night.
• Neïla (9/5): Very peaceful and beautiful place - Very nice place. Very beautiful, very calm. Well located, 5 min walking from the beach and from Ñaña beach club. Betty is a wonderful person. The hotel is very reactive and answers very fast your questions. We feel far from the world there 😍 No television.

I love the beach there because its clean and if you walk to the right side after 10 minutes walk you have sun beds you can pay for food or drink and they are amazing. The room is so special we have the highest one and great view. Clean and welcome. The lady that work there shes so so so sweet and so professional. Hard to say goodbye
• Emily (9/5): Lagoon adventure - The room was large! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The decor was lovely. Being on the lagoon was very cool since everything else is very beach focused. The giant water spigot was great, the AC worked great. Crazy water pressure in the shower. Betty was so sweet and helpful. The place was spotless! I loved the little deck overlooking the lagoon. The mosquitos weren't too crazy there, which was surprising! On rainy days the road to the hotel flooded but that's just mother nature! It was a bit of an adventure anyway. And bummer, we didn't see any crocs!

• Jessie (9/5): A lovely, spacious, + convenient stay if you're looking to save money by not staying on the beach! - Staying at Casa de Alux was overall an excellent experience - very easy to get in and out with their lockbox system, plus they graciously allowed us to check in an hour early. The room was spacious and comfortable, the AC and Wifi worked well, the shower was hot, and we appreciated the filtered water, beach towels, and line for hanging wet bathing suits that they provided. The bed was large and VERY comfortable with great pillows. The private porch area was cute and well appointed, complete with breakfast table and hammock, and the room and grounds were quiet and peaceful. We saw some cool birds in the mornings! Bety, the housekeeper, was also incredible and the best thing about the stay - so sweet and helpful, very available in person and by WhatsApp, plus she has bikes to rent on the property for a competitive price, which was very convenient. The location is 5 minutes walking from the beach, 10 mins walking from the center, and around the corner from a convenience shop should you need anything. **Note that not all rooms have a stovetop, in case you require that. Ours - the balcony suite - had only a microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator, but this was fine for us as we didn't wish to cook. The lagoon outside the Casa is surely beautiful when full of water, but at the time we stayed it was almost completely dried out and had a sulfurous smell during the height of the day. This didn't bother us much as the smell didn't transfer into the rooms and we weren't in the apartment much during midday anyway, but if you are looking for a gorgeous view from your balcony or porch, be aware that the lake will not always be as pictured depending on the time of year / climate.
• Amanda (9/5): Peaceful and clean. - Quiet, housekeeper Betty is very friendly. We rented her bikes and it was fun pedaling around. Hot shower, working air conditioning and peaceful mornings. We made a mistake thinking it was beachfront and it’s not. But still enjoyed our stay.

• Cory (10/5): Exceeded all expectations - The room was a great size, with a good sized bathroom as well. The bed was huge and really comfortable, we both slept really well throughout our stay here. There were also good coffee facilities in the room, a fridge and a drinking water tap which was great to stay hydrated. in terms of location, you are around 100m from the beach and an easy walk (5 mins) to anything in the the centre. The apartment itself is also on a very quiet road so it’s peaceful at night. Willy (the owner) was also really helpful in the lead up to our stay, as he provided lots of info on the island and recommendations on where best to eat. Betty was also great during our stay, making sure we checked in ok as well as keeping our room and the communal areas spotless on a daily basis. I couldn’t rate this place highly enough!

• Michal (10/5): Comfort and privacy among the mangroves - This property was so incredibly perfect for my partner and my trip to Isla Holbox- the room was spacious and well maintained and had everything we could want for our 5 night stay. The location was perfect as well- the secluded lagoon gave the property a private feel, there were closeby locally owned stores and it was a 10/15 min walk to the more lively part of town for a fancier night out. Easy access to the beach, and a pelican that hung out in the lagoon the whole time. The recommendations from the hosts were so helpful as well- we used their boat contact and taxi contacts for a wonderful week on the island, and the cleaning staff were responsive and so nice. AND there was filtered water provided in the room which made hydration a breeze, and reduced plastic waste on an island that needs less trash! I can not imagine staying anywhere else on the island. Leaving! I miss having my morning coffee in the hammock already.

• Gaël (10/5): Exceptional - This was probably our best hotel in our whole trip in Mexico. The room was very spacious, modern and clean. We had a kitchenette and water dispenser to fill our water bottles. What makes this space so special is the location, you are a few streets away from busy and loud bars/restaurants but you are within less than 10min walk from the beach/restaurants. You have a balcony view over the lagoon/mangroves which makes it so unique. We loved waking up for sunrise and admiring the animals in the lagoon. They also provided us with a list of tips (activities) and we could rent some bicycles from the housekeeper. Highly recommend staying there. The bicycle rental was a bit pricy.

• Anna (9/5): Peaceful haven by the lagoon. - Super quiet, peaceful and calm. Bety did an amazing job of cleaning the room every day - the sheets were changed every other day and plenty of fresh towels. It was great to have our own spacious veranda - we were in Lagoon which meant we were on the ground floor, with hammock, outdoor sofa, two chairs and table, AND 4 sun loungers! Each of the rooms had outside lounging facilities. Room was big and spacious, the purified water and fridge were great. Communication with the owner was virtual but speedy, and it was nice to be left to our own devices. We stayed over NYE and were very grateful of the distance from all the revelry! The lagoon is peaceful and beautiful and you feel completely secluded and peaceful. Short walk into town, and there are loncheria's, breakfast spots (Bilu if you want somewhere quite bougie) and restaurants not far, ditto the beach. Recommend Luuma for a fancy dinner with atmosphere. Would definitely visit Casa Del Alux again. Only thing would be, the "kitchenette" comprises of a (very fancy) microwave and a coffee pot for hot water. So don't get any ideas you'll be frying bacon or toasting bread! And you have to wash up your plates etc with hand soap in the bathroom. There is cutlery, plates etc though - you'll just be having more of a "camping" than a "self catering" experience. We make scrambled eggs and coffee etc in the morning, and made sandwiches etc, and that was fine for us.
• Dominic (10/5): One lovely week at Casa del Alux on Isla Holbox - Our 7-night stay at La Casa del Alux on Island Holbox was just great: - although it is a little „outside“ of the center (like 10 Min. walk), it is a very nice and calm spot at the mangroves - very (!) clean, cleaned by the lovely Betty - a very comfortable bed with great pillows If you just want to relax on the island or discover the island, Casa del Alux is a perfect choice. We were just happy there; thanks!
• Will (10/5): Quiet spot a short walk to town. We loved our stay here! - Lovely little spot with a handy kitchenette. We were able to cook a nice breakfast every morning, and get a great night's sleep each evening. Also, Betty the housekeeper was so awesome! We would definitely stay here again!
• Agne (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great relaxing time at this place. It is a bit away from noisy streets, so you can chill in hammocks peacefully watching birds in the lagoon, raccoons and iguanas hanging around in the yard. Beach, restaurants and shops are a short walk from there. Room was clean, bed - comfortable. Plenty of drinking water available. Host was available online if needed. Wifi - great. If you come with bigger suitcases definitely take a taxi to come to this place, because road conditions are poor. -

• Chris (4/5): - I’ll try to be fair. The room was very comfortable. Clean, bed was comfortable. Porch, hammocks, were great. Basically.inside the room was five stars. But… First, we arrived at the property without any instructions from the owner. That made it difficult after a long day of traveling. However once we got the owner on the phone he sent instructions quickly. Then, Outside the room was a different story. The property sits right on a lagoon that floods every morning. We had to walk through eight inches of lagoon water in the courtyard both mornings we were at the property. And not the cleanest water. We were on the island mid November. It is the rainy season. This property is down a road that is totally flooded with dirty water. We walked through it for both days we were there. Pretty disgusting. Maybe different time of year it would be different.

Roads on the Island are in terrible shape including the one that leeds to the house. If it rains one cant walk anywhere without getting wet until ones knees. They dont have cars on the Island not because they dont Like them but because they wouldnt work. Im only adding this because a lot of blogs dont tell you.
• Cameron (10/5): Exceptional - We loved absolutely everything! The room was so spacious, well decorated. The bed was so comfy, nice shower and some amenities (fridge,water, coffe machine). We were greated by Betty (housekeeper) which made us feel very welcomed. Gave us lots of suggestions and made sure we were okay. The outdoor area is stunning right by the lagoon, a lovely sight to relax and enjoy the peaceful soundings, 10 minutes walk to the busy main area (which it's perfect to be away to relax) and not far from the beach at all. We seen some raccoons right outside the room and lots of lizards. We would definitely come back and recommend it to friends and family. We loved everything.

The place was cleaned daily, felt very safe and away from the super loud music. Very close to the beach ~5min walk and next to the lagoon, where we watched birds and the sunrise every morning in our hammocks. Great Air Conditioning and nice to have a full size fridge and freezer, plus all cooking necessities. Good wifi. That we had to leave.

It’s a very cosy place and it’s so nice to just sit and watch the birds in the lagoon. We felt very safe and it is walking distance to everything. We would recommend this place for everyone.
