- Akif (10/5): A Warm and Memorable Stay at Sigiri Thilanka Rest - The stay at Sigiri Thilanka Rest was nothing short of wonderful, thanks to the incredibly kind and attentive owner, Dammi, and her staff. From the moment of arrival, she went out of her way to ensure we felt welcome and cared for, making our time in Sigiriya truly special.
A particular highlight was the delightful conversations with Dammi in French during the morning over a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast. This personal touch added a unique and memorable element to the experience. The meal was hearty, flavorful, and made with love - an excellent start to the day.
The room was clean and comfortable, offering everything needed for a relaxing stay. The property’s location was also very convenient, close to all the major attractions in Sigiriya.
For anyone seeking heartfelt hospitality and a place where they are treated like family, Sigiri Thilanka Rest is the perfect choice. Highly recommended for an unforgettable stay! The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that we couldn’t stay longer at this wonderful place. Unfortunately, we were just passing through, but I truly wish we had more time to enjoy everything the place and its amazing surroundings had to offer.

- Omar (10/5): Amazing stay - Exceptional customer service! The place is super chilled and quiet! Sanjeewa is the guy you need! Will help you with everything, not to mention the best rice and curry in Lanka we had! He will help you out what ever you need without hesitation. Thank you for having us! Cheers
- Richrd (10/5): - Perfect location when visiting Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful. I stayed a few days, so after Sigiriya rock they recommend other locations I could visit and which buses to get.
The food for dinner was amazing and such huge portions!!! 😅
The room was great, good ac, and a mosquito net over the comfy bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - La chambre et la maison sont très propres et bien entretenu
- Rachel (8/5): Rural relax - Something a little different, but good for one or 2 night stop over. Value for money! Cheap and cheerful lovely host and homely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was perfect, Thilanka is a very great person.
the room is near the lion rock
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great service - Very big rooms, good food and great service
- joebus (6/5): Not bad - Not a bad place to stay in Sigiriya. The hosts were welcoming, though hovered a bit. The room was basic but nice. Air con worked well and the bathroom was good. Breakfast was pretty standard. Not bad but plenty of better options around for a similar price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- 957arvinc (10/5): amazing place to stay - stayed 2 nights and absolutely loved it. we were greeted by very polite and welcoming staff, the staff were really happy to help us with organising activities and answered all question we had as well as giving advice on what to visit. the room were very spotless and beautiful, the location was really stunning. highly recommend.
- pascal (10/5): Trés bonne adresse - Super accueil, propreté impeccable, rapport qualité prix excellent, bonne réception wiffi, possibilité de réserver un scooter, trés bonne adresse.
- Dasccc2 (4/5): Worst Service By New Owners of the place - # The past owners have sold the place to some crooks
# Current Owner is not in Sri Lanka
# Local Admin have put more beds that shown online & earn money
# As a result, we were only offered 2 Rooms even after booking the whole apartment
# Online it's shown for 10 persons, we booked whole apartment. But when we went their they only offered two rooms.
# Other rooms were also booked
# Typical Overbooking
# Local Admin refused to refund the money also
# Local Admins do not know how to speak properly to their customers
# They never said sorry even till we left the house.
#Really disappointing.
# Theirs no Cook now. Only some pieces of bread provided for Breakfast
- 0taliag (2/5): Extremely disappointing - There’s not a whole lot to say about our experience here. The people running the place were very nice, but not around much. They double booked another family in who was left without a room, which inevitably lead to them forgetting about our dinner. We ended up eating at 10pm when we had an early morning trek. To top it off, they wanted to charge us a ridiculous amount for the beers that we ordered overnight. On the plus side, the dinner is quite good. Would recommend paying slightly more and getting better service elsewhere.
- Jaclyn (8/5): - We arrived at 7pm and they had no idea about our booking.
Lucky I had called earlier and the owner put us in a room within the home stay. It was a very awkward encounter and because it was late at night we had no where else to go so we stayed....The room was clean but the bathroom had a foul smell.
Next day we used their tuk tuk driver to go into town for breakfast and he was awesome! Very cheeky but kind(he made our trip)
We climbed the rock and went on safari which was awesome.
Second night we were moved from the home stay to another room seperate. to start with we were hesitant as you are literally in the jungle but the room was brand new with new bathroom which was nice.
Overall amazing value and location just. Very basic so keep your mind open!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great - Great stay. They brought in a cook for dinner who made the most amazing classic Sri Lankan dinner. Recommend!
- Sari (8/5): Hyvä paikka lähellä Lion Rockia - Hyvä hotelli loistavalla paikalla! Lion Rock aivan vieressä. Söimme myös illallista hotellilla, joka oli todella loistava!!
- Nanimus (6/5): Worth of staying - We spent one night at Sigiri Thilanka rest. The location is really good: Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock are really close. First night we climbed to the Lion Rock and then in the next morning we climbed to the Pidurangala Rock to see the sunrise. It was great! We ate dinner at Thilanka Rest and it was REALLY good! You should try it. Traditional Sri Lanka food, but better than in many places. Only minus is that the room could have been more cleaner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect stay in Sigiriya - We had an amazing stay at this place. The guest house was looked after by two guys, who were absolutely fantastic. They helped us organise tuk tuks and arranged the perfect safari in Kaudulla (saw loads of elephants). They made us a nice breakfast in the morning and their home cooked dinner was delicious.
We stayed in the family room, which was very spacious and comfortable. Everything was also very clean and well looked after. It was also very quiet as the guest house was away from the main road.
Location is perfect and it is about a 30 min walk to Sigiriya Rock.
Definitely recommended staying here for the perfect budget accommodation.
- Francesco (10/5): We felt very lucky to find a place like this! - We really suggest this beautiful guesthouse. We spent a great time, the two owners are welcoming, professional, kind and also very good cooks (they cooked something different and typical everyday)!. There are 4 rooms, so the place is familiar and not crowdy. Room was clean and quite big for the standard, 2 fans, Wifi. Very nice garden to chill. It's close to the Sigiriya Rock and the owners can organize Safari to Minnerya/Kawdulla national parks.
- mmorens (8/5): Nice hospitality and good place - The owners are really nice and cook very well. Quite clean room and good atmosphere, surrounded by the Sigiriya forest. Dining outside is very relaxing. Only con is the shortage of electric ports in the room.
- danish14 (6/5): Big room - Stayed for two nights. The room was very big, and the bed is good.
The room was very hot and unfortunately it was not possible to open a window. There was no pressure on the shower and the water in the sink ran out on the table and not into the sink.
At breakfast we had a very tasty omelet and some dry toast.
The employees was very very helpful and friendly.
- Walid (10/5): - The guys at the property were very helpful at the and were available to answer all of our questions. Check in was extremely fast. Hotel 1is close to the main attraction (Sigiriya Rock).
- I139THkatiet (8/5): Very friendly staff - We were welcomed by some very lovely hosts who looked after us very well from start to finish. The accommodation was better than expected. It was very quiet and relaxing. We had a very nice traditional Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast prepared for us. Overall, I would definitely recommend if wanting to visit Sigiriya.
- Hyesun (4/5): so so but beer price??? - I paid 1350 LKR for three bottles of beer here. Is it legitimate? The shop price is 160 LKR per bottle.
The room was clean overall, but the web was in the window and there was no air-conditioner
- Verified traveler (10/5): Didn’t want to leave! - I stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it! The host was very nice and helpful, and really went out of his way to make my area visits easy and enjoyable. The breakfasts were varied and delicious. I also had my evening meals here, and they were excellent and reasonably priced. The location is great, being within reasonable walking distance of Lion Rock and the village. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the hot-water shower was great (though the outside temperature was hot enough to make cool showers a pleasure). If I nitpick, the floor in my room had some debris by the window and around the base of the furniture that would be easy to sweep up (though I sure would hate to have someone closely examine the state of the floors in my own home). I would have happily stayed longer.
- 818SteveL (2/5): Awful don’t bother - This is a nice property and is close to the lion rock .
The rooms however are tired and need some attention. What really lets this place down is the food (or lack of it ) we were served an evening meal of five dishes of vegetables and fish between 4 of us which ranged from cold to luke warm !
The dessert spoon wasn’t needed as there wasn’t a dessert ! Our host gave us a walnut each instead !
What made me most uncomfortable though was he stood at the table and watched us eat !
The breakfast was worse! An omelette between 4 of us with a tiny sausage each 2 pieces of toast and a glass of water ! A cup of tea each completed the meal with no offer of refills ! All served by a man that claimed to be a chef !
The owner apparently lives in France and I can only imagine he would be appalled if he new what was going on !
- denisemY7115BJ (10/5): Amazing place - We can’t say enough about this place and the lovely couple that runs it. Everything was just perfect. They offer and cook every meal if you so desire and let me tell you, it is the best food we have ever had. No joke, no exaggeration. The owners are just lovely, generous people who go out of their way to make sure your stay is the most comfortable. When we come back to Sri Lanka we will definitely have an extended stay at this place. If you are thinking or debating whether to stay here or not, DO IT. You won’t be disappointed. 100% recommend.
- Alexiatatar (10/5): très agréable séjour - Nice location the room was big and confortable and relaxing
Lion rock on walking distance, Helped us arrange safari tour and trip to the old city.
The Wi-Fi was fine
Staff was super attentive,
Excellent breakfast, prepared with love .
- klaraLuah (8/5): Nice stay! - Nice guest house!! Super lovely people that as most of Sri Lanka people want to give their best and open their houses to make you feel home. The prepared us lovely food and they had recommendations for everything! The room was simple but had everything we needed!
- danielcA4188WN (10/5): Wonderful hosts. - We stayed here for one night recently and were extremely impressed with the service and hospitality of the hosts and staff. The location is central to Sigiriya and the rooms are clean with AC and mosquito nets. We had a home made dinner and breakfast with fresh fruit! The staff made you feel like a genuinely welcome guest, offering conversation and smiles.
- SashaM893 (6/5): Great hospitality but room average - The room was relatively comfortable with a good sized bed, good large mosquito net and air conditioning. There were some consumables offered like soap, but we had to ask for towels on the first day (probably an oversight), but given the humid nature of the location and the plentiful rain, there was no way these towels would dry (even though they were very thin). We had to ask for replacements and were griven two hand towels. the room also lacked a bin, lucky we had a plastic bag for our rubbish. The hostess was very gracious and attentive, sometimes too much so, and tended to hover at meal times. She was very friendly and was happy to organise drivers for our outings to the surrounding areas. Breakfast was ok, with fruit, loads of toast and jam and tea. On our first night we hadn't got our bearings yet, so ate dinner in. We didn't know what to expect. I would recommend you go out .... The village is only about a 20 minute walk (to your left when you get to the street) ... Take a torch with you. The meal we had was very ordinary and we were charged 1500 rupees ... Way over priced.
- elise_riis (10/5): Nicest people we meet in Sri Lanka - This was probably the best place we have stayed in Sri Lanka. Nice and clean facilities and very good service. The two sisters were some of the nicest people we meet in Sri Lanka, helping with everything and made our stay very joyful. Warm showers and good wifi. About 20 min walk from the old Sigiriya village. Homecooked food was very good and cheap for the area. Would recommend this to very one looking for at budget place.
- NEWYORKPROF (8/5): Lovely setting in a tranquil estate - Great location. Excellent swimming pool about 5 x 100 meters that stretches alongside a rice field. Rooms are spacious, light, airy, nicely decorated--with personal safe. Interior bathrooms are concrete chic. Restaurant food was lovely. Used by tour companies for small groups of tourists to spend 2 nights or so there while exploring the area. 24 rooms-- so it doesn't feel crowded. Can go for walks through the estate.
- Fabiano295 (10/5): Superb !! - We greatly enjoyed our 03 nights stay here!
She is a good Cook and he's a friendly guy to guests. They have bycicles for rent and can also get you around in their tuk-tuk or luxury vehicles.
It's only 15mins to Sigiriya Rock. The view is very pleasant. We will come back sooon!!
- Tif01 (10/5): Really nice place - I stayed there 3 nights.
The house is new, bedroom/ bathroom are big and clean.
The family is really nice, welcoming and always there to help you.
It's at 10 minutes by walk from the entrance of Sigiriya site seeing and 20 minutes by foot to go in the "city center" (if we can call it that way).
I surely recommend this place.
