Guest Reviews
- Matt (9/5): Excellent property that would highly recommend to anyone visiting Taupo. - Location, cleanliness and overall standard of the property was excellent. Good amount of space. Oven was very slow to heat up. But hardly a major issue.
- Patrick (9/5): - really nice house, with an open area that gives a lovely airy feeling. well setup with most everything you could expect, plus a kayak and SUP. kitchen is well equipped and stocked with many of the basics so you don't have to buy all the little bits.
being only a short walk down to the lake was fabulous.
bed was decent - maybe a bit saggy but still quite comfortable. master bedroom is downstairs so if its just a couple you can live on the one level. the master bedroom windows don't open much so its difficult to get airflow. even in autumn the bedroom got quite warm so i can imagine in summer its quite an issue. you can get some cooling from the A/C and fan in the main open area but that means making it freezing there in order to get the bedroom cooled at all.
ensuite shower head wouldn't stay in place properly and was leaking a bit but water pressure is excellent
- Victoria (10/5): Great house in a quiet safe location - Nice and modern clean and tidy. Equipment available for use was a bonus Small ant infestation in the kitchen
- Jeni (10/5): Great experience - A very comfortable house for a family with 3 kids. The dishwasher and clothes washer are the Champ during our stay. Made me spend less time on house chores and have more fun time with family. The gate towards the lock box can't be easily access from the outside. My son needed to climb the fence to access it and key in the code.
That's all, the rest of things this house can offer are absolutely fantastic.
- Lisa (8/5): Comfortable stay, close to the lake. - Comfortable beds. Wood fire. Spa. Close to the lake. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay for 5 adults.
- Sharon (9/5): Well worth the money - The house was just as you see on the website which was amazing. We used the fire as it was winter and warmed the place beautifully. We had a 6 month old with is so was important it was warm and it didn't disappoint. Kitchen was exceptional with everything you would need. Nothing worth a mention I was really happy.
- Peter (8/5): - Loved settling by the fire on a cold winters night Next time we will stay closer to town
- Caroline (10/5): A lovely house for a mid-winter family birthday gathering - The kitchen is really well stocked with everything you might need for self-catering, we loved the big spa pool, and the wood-burner which had unlimited dry wood which meant we didn't need the heat pump at all in the middle of winter. The layout of the house was perfect for our party with two separate living areas (one up, one down), and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, and a big main bedroom downstairs with en suite. The proximity to the lake is good with an easy short stroll to the walking/cycling path. If we return in summer we would definitely try out the kayak and paddle board which are great additions to the house overall. This is nit-picking but we could not get SKY Sport Now operating on either of the TVs and eventually decided to have dinner first and watch delayed coverage of the All Blacks Vs France test (two of our party are pretty savvy with technology so I don't think it was us being technically inept).
The gate to the lock box needs fixing.
We didn't enjoy the requirement to wash and put away the dishes before departure which is quite early at 10 am. All other places we have stayed at allow us to leave dishes in the dishwasher which we run just before departure.
- Lezette (10/5): -
- Keyla (9/5): Superb - Very neat, clean and comfortable Was happy with everything
- Sean (9/5): Superb - Was a good location and a nice property to stay in 😊 The only fault was the upstairs shower didn’t have hot water each time went to shower in it but apart from that was a awesome place
- Keely (9/5): A perfect stay—beautiful home, great location, and everything we needed for a fun and comfortable getaway. - Absolutely loved our stay! The house was stunning and located in a fantastic area—super convenient for getting into town or to the lake. The interior was both stylish and cozy, with plenty of space that was just right for our group of five. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of having a great selection of board games to enjoy during our downtime. The hot water runs out quickly.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Spa was great to relax in after a day at the racing & fireplace was really good for heating up the inside. Great shower also
- Rhonda (9/5): Superb - Great location and fabulous facilities. Everything was there and easy to find. Comfortable beds.
Very clean. Probably the grass area out the back finished with more grass and less dirt. But that is minor.
- Hanlie (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was spectacular Cleaning dishes and packing them away before you leave and bins. When on holiday don't really feel like doing any of that.
- Sharmeeni (9/5): Great place to stay - Morden, comfortable and great location
- Lionel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlies (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (10/5): Very good facilities - Lovely house and it had all the facilities we desired. My friends from the UK said they couldn't want for anything more and they loved the spa. Nothing to list here.
- Braam (9/5): Horn Family - Very clean and spacious house with very well equipped kitchen, the hot tub was amazing, walking distance from the lake. Close to the Woolworths and Dropzone Fun Park.
Will book again. TV with no live channels, especially sport.
- Simpson (9/5): Superb - The fire and the shower!
- Brooke (8/5): The good outweighed the bad, we enjoyed our 2 night stay here and we would come back! - The spa was a superb addition for a cold winter weekend! We also enjoyed being able to light the fire in the evenings while we were relaxing watching tv. The blinds are not right for the windows so if you have to sleep in a pitch black room this will most likely affect you. The beds were on the harder side which meant half our group didn’t have very good sleeps.
- Jeanette (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect for a family gathering
- Annastacia (9/5): Great location and a generous host offering comfortable, quiet accomodation. - The property had everything we needed and it was an added bonus that they were so generous in leaving everything needed to make a lovely fire in the fireplace.
It was also located in such a nice part of town and it was so quiet. Only something very small. The side gate outside was really frustrating. Hard to open and likely needs fixing/replacing. That was really the only thing though. It was such a nice place to say - just like home.
- Maureen (8/5): Relaxing weekend away - Location
Warm
Tidy and clean Nothing stood out
- Debbie (7/5): Good -
- Hamish (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect! Gorgeous home that had everything we could wish for!
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Pedronz (9/5): Superb - The house was well set up, clean and ideal for two couples. Nothing
- Maysha (7/5): Good - Water pressure was great and the spa. Nice walk down for a swim in lake . Was a little disappointed as booking was for 8 people but we had to make up sofa bed ourselves and it was terrible to sleep in not comfortable at all also no mirrors in top bedrooms and no hairdryer. Top blind broken also . Also all the clips on the spa were broken so wasn’t able to be locked which is not safe . Would have been good to open master bedroom door as so hot .
- Belinda (8/5): Ideal for a family holiday! - Size suited our family, facilities were very good and location just right! Not far from lake It was really hot during our stay and we all didn’t sleep too well because the bedrooms were so hot at night. Some fans would be a welcome addition for comfort.
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Cindy (8/5): Relaxing and comfortable home away from home. - We loved how close The Lake Taupo Gem was from the walkway around the lake. We had the most awful weather during our stay but brought bikes up with us and still managed a bikeride or walk each morning in pouring rain and howling wind.
We went to the pizza place in two mile bay, they have live music on Sunday nights, it was excellent, they also do great
coffee. Brilliant home away from home for the entire family. Great layout with two seperate lounges and lots of great board games. Loved the spa pool. Hope to come back in summer and make use of the kayaks. The only issue we had was we were unable to get sky sport now on the LG TV for the All Black Test, we tried to cast it from our phone but only managed to cast to the TCL upstairs which had terrible picture quality and disjointed connectivity. Aside from that, we would definitely stay here again
- Simeon (7/5): Comfortable. - Accommodation had plenty of living space. Fire was cosy on cold nights. Large windows in living space where open to street and had no window coverings (this was mentioned in the property details but not described fully). A clothes dryer would have been helpful.
- Anonymous (9/5): It was a wonderful place to stay for a weekend and would be lovely to spend a week in. - It was well equipped and modern. The fireplace was nice and the it was lovely that the firebox was all set up ready to light.
Great that there were towels available for the hot tub(unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to use it). The hot water ran out after 3 showers and there were 6 of us staying. A separate toilet downstairs would have been nice (only toilet downstairs is in the on-suite off the main bedroom)
- Angela (8/5): Very good - Nice house with nice bedrooms and bathrooms. Nice fireplace. Comfortable lounge. We are disappointed with the upper oven is not working. We used small lower oven.
- Razyl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kyle (7/5): Good - Spa was nice and beds very comfortable. There was such a strange, intense foul stench to the entire place. We couldn't figure out what it was. Upstairs tv remote missing (not really an issue, just an observation)
- Johannes (9/5): Superb -
- Janlyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ravi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dee (10/5): Perfect :) - We have stayed here before and it never disappoints. Lovely clean spacious house.
- Bronwyn (10/5): It's now our annual girls weekend accommodation - Private spa, fireplace, space inside & out
- Steven (8/5): We enjoyed staying in the property - Nice comfortable house with all facilities suited to our needs. coffee did not suit our taste
- John (9/5): Really good home and a great place to holiday - modern, clean,a bit away from city ok
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptionally clean and nice and quiet.
- John (7/5): Overheated Gem - The house was modern and well-equipped. The solitary air-con unit couldn't cool the whole house, in fact it was very warm.
- Ellyse (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and modern great to have the kayaks ,paddle board, and life jackets for all ages. The spa was lovely and clean beds were comfortable, and the location was quiet with walking distance to the lake it's not right in Taupo CBD but we quite like being a short few kms drive (5ish mins) from CBD to get the quietness and still be walking distance to the lake. The ovens could go a clean they seem to let off a bit of smokey oven smell due to the build up when being used. We only used the smaller conventional one as we couldn't get main oven to work. Other than that place was great for the 3 kids and 4 adults.
- Jayne (10/5): Relaxing Lakeside accommodation that exceeded expectations. - Located literally a street away from the shore of Lake Taupo, we could walk the kayaks and Paddle board directly to lake. Quiet side of lake, but only a few minutes drive into a beautiful town with bountiful eateries and shops. Very clean, hot tub amazing, kitchen was large and made holiday cooking a pleasure with a BBQ also available. Upstairs and downstairs lounging areas with wall mounted TV's in each section. Easy communication with our accommodation hosts, would definitely stay again.
- Tamsin (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, a short walk to the lake and a well equipped, modern property.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Edmonds (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (7/5): Good - We liked how spacious and homely the apartment was.
- Jenni (9/5): lovly quiet place - all good the chairs were too low for the table ,and the beds couldnt be made into singles, we were a group of 6 elderly ladies and some had to sleep together.
- Lam (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Very well equipped. Clean and comfortable. Quiet neighbourhood. Nothing
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Niamh (10/5): perfect! - fantastic house, great value for money, loved the spa, immaculate
- Hannah-may (9/5): Superb - Just a beautiful space close to everything Nothing
- Ritesh (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (8/5): clean, comfortable home with good facilities in a quiet location - a spacious home and kitchen was very well kitted out. comfortable beds and place was very clean. quiet location. loved the Netflix access. even though we weren’t there in summer the upstairs rooms were hot. we also would have liked a dryer in the laundry.
- Linda (5/5): What is clean and OK but no water for you - The property was clean The property was advertised as a lake side property there was no lake by the side there was no Waterview whatsoever at all and that was very disappointing should not advertise as a lake side property when there is no view all you can see is other houses around you and a bit of a walk to the water was very very unhappy when we arrived that it was not by the lake the reason I paid that amount of money for that particular property was the pictures and it said Lakeside view I would not have paid that amount of money I would’ve gotten play Somewhere Else by the water had I known very deceiving very deceiving
- Kellie (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Fire
