Guest Reviews
- Dominique (9/5): - Loved every bit of our stay. Very central and safe location in Santa Teresa. The house is both outside and inside beautiful and decorated with taste. Guido is a wonderful host who informed and entertained during our breakfasts on the patio.Would definitely recommend to anyone going to Rio! /
- Annika (8/5): -
- Jenna (10/5): Perfect Stay in a Lovely Neighborhood - Highlight of the Trip - Staying with Guido and Francisco in their beautifully redone colonial home was an honor - one of the highlights of our trip. Their kindness, attention to detail, recommendations and cheerful, laid back demeanor were just wonderful. The house itself is gorgeous and our room extremely comfortable, with stunning views and a balcony for practicing yoga or relaxing in the hammock. We also appreciated the daily room cleaning and drinking water refills. We truly felt at home away from home. The breakfast on the patio by the garden was also perfect. We already knew we love Santa Teresa and this stay made it even more special. Nothing at all!
- Denise (10/5): -
- Carol (10/5): A beautiful gem hidden in its ) - The breakfasts were delicious and beautiful; excellent fresh fruit and homemade juice. The hosts of the house were wonderful! Beautiful gardens surrounded the patio sitting area. I would highly recommend!
- Sylvester (10/5): Gem of a property, amazing host ( Guido), excellent location, great breakfast - I had excellent and warm communication with Guido well before we arrived. Our holiday felt almost like staying over with a friend. The location is extremely convenient -if walking and exploring is your thing....you can walk in minutes to the Selaron Steps or the Parque das Ruínas (recommended), with spectaular views. The property is much more than a a hidden gem, and the magical in many ways, with a glorious mango tree, and orchids and a wide array of plants. The breakfast was simple, nutritious and very satisfying, with attention to what you may need in the morning. Loved the art, marble steps, colonial decor and breathtaking views. I even got to bond with Bianca - the snow white gentle dog! None
- Jennifer (10/5): Absolute Perle in Rio: ruhig, schön, persönlich - Eine absolute Perle in jeder Hinsicht!
Genau so möchte man Ferien machen. Herzlichen Dank für alles!
- kaegso (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Fantastisches Haus. Allerbeste Bewirtung.
- Patsy (10/5): - Wonderful experience at Guesthouse Bianca. Both Guido and Francisco were exceptional hosts. The breakfast was made to order with a good choice of fresh fruits. Lots of walkable eating options nearby, and its a short uber ride to many tourist areas like the Cathedral, Celeron steps and the Museu do Amanhá.

Rien
- Russell (10/5): Cannot recommend Bianca Guesthouse highly enough. Guido and Francisco were excellent hosts. Guido even got up early to - An oasis a few miles away from central Rio . Beautiful enclosed garden and pretty terrace.
Lovely wooden floors , art deco styling and appealing art work. Nothing
- Maria Jesus (10/5): Beautiful and calm house, in the middle of bustling city, like being in Rio at a different decade. - To listen to the birds through the window in your morning while being in the middle of such a bustling city is so calm an amazing. And at night, you cna just walk to a street with lots of bar, some with live music, all very local. Lovely. And the owners are the best, super nice. The house is spectacular, i felt like in the Rio of the 70s.. The only bad thing is distance to Ipanema/Leblon beach to me, which with traffic can be over 40minutes but for a change, i absolutely loved it, its good to live Rio from there, and not always stay near the beach.
- Peter (9/5): Very comfortable and welcoming -
Gode restauranter i gå afstand.
- Robert A Frisenda (10/5): The perfect combination of hospitality and comfort in a unique and private venue. - Our host Guido from the start accorded us the warmth and hospitality one would expect from a close friend or family.
The accommodation is a grand home built in 1932 with an enchanting private garden that you can view from the veranda during your delicious breakfast. The neighborhood is cobblestone and on a hill, shielding the property from traffic and noise. Our room was spacious as was the bathroom with fridge, minisplit Air Conditioning and a comfortable bed. We will return! Nothing
100% Empfehlung ♥️ Nichts
- Mohamed (10/5): - Hotel de charme, Guido, un hôte fantastique très belle accueil petit déjeuner extra, emplacement parfait a santa Teresa Merci encore !!
Superbe place 😃
- Guest (10/5): - Guido and Francisco are incredible hosts. The property could not be more perfect. You really feel at home.
My room was beautiful especially the pink stained windows. The room has a hammock which I enjoyed very much after walking a lot.
Breakfast delicious and plentiful.
I cannot wait to go back to this place. Highly recommend it. Everything is perfect!
- charlotte (10/5): Fantastisk vistelse hos G, F & B! Kan varmt rekommendera Guesthouse Bianca! /Louise & Charlotte -
- Yulia (10/5): A few days in Rio - Amazing villa in a lovely neighborhood with a beautiful view. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The hosts were incredibly hospitable and welcoming.
- Steven (10/5): Lovely Guesthouse in the hills of Santa Teresa - My wife & I stayed at Guesthouse Bianca twice: over two consecutive weekends, with a trip to Salvador in between. Quite simply, we loved it. First of all, Guido & Francisco are wonderful hosts with lots of fantastic advice on what to do in Rio! Santa Teresa is a wonderful neighborhood for exploring music, food, shopping & culture. The guesthouse itself is lovely. We stayed in two of the four rooms. One had a terrace overlooking Sugarloaf Mountain, including beautiful sunsets. The other was more like a small suite with bed, couch, and humongous bathroom with gorgeous stained glass windows. The breakfasts were incredibly yummy & served on the lush garden terrace. Lastly, when we mentioned our late evening flight home, Guido generously allowed us a late checkout... so helpful. We highly recommend Guesthouse Bianca!
- Linda (10/5): Lovely Guesthouse in Rio’s bohemian district of Santa Teresa - The location was in the bohemian district of Rio and was safe to walk around day or night and was within walking distance to attractions and cafes and restaurants.
Our hosts were very friendly and breakfast was healthy and delicious. Nothing
- michael (9/5): Beautiful mansion and great host - It’s very historic and in beautiful condition It’s a little difficult to get to, but I knew that
- Isabel (10/5): -
- Nick (10/5): Guesthouse Bianca is a hidden gem in Santa Teresa. It ticks all the boxes. - Guesthouse Bianca is a hidden gem perched in Santa Teresa. We especially liked the location, the beautiful building and facilities and the peace and quiet we had in a big city. Plenty of restaurants and bars and also street art too. The local park has great views over Rio. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight too - we even had hummingbirds for company.
Guido was an excellent host. He gave us lots of information and was especially helpful in organising transport etc. He had pride in the Guesthouse too. At the same time he was not intrusive. Just the perfect balance. Nothing to mention. Everything was great we wouldn’t change anything. The neighbourhood appears to be a bit shabby, but it is a lively example of Rio life including the street music (which we enjoyed).
- Nigel (10/5): An Oasis of calm and beauty amongst Rio’s madness. - Everything, the location, the ambience, the size, the balcony, the breakfast, the staff, Guido, Bianca, the gorgeous garden. A fabulous oasis of calm away from the madness of Rio down below. My own stupidity for not booking a longer stay.
- Hans (10/5): - Extraodinary nice historic setting and very pleasant host & service Nothing to complain
- Kathleen (10/5): -
- Geoffrey (10/5): This was one of the best, if not the best, guesthouse experience in all our travels around the world. - We like absolutely everything about the property. Guido was a wonderful and helpful host. Breakfast each morning on the terrace was a delight. The location was excellent with many dining choices within a few minutes walk. We stayed a week and would happily have stayed longer. Our experience was faultless and a truly great introduction to Rio.
- Sarah (10/5): Would love to return - Guido was a magnificent host. Breakfast was superb in a beautiful setting. Charming house and location.
- Daniele (10/5): -
- Lafayette (10/5): This was the best non-Hotel stayI’ve ever had. Actually, it beat out a lot of luxury hotels that I stay at. Because of t - The property was beautiful and peaceful. Guido and Bianca were the best hosts ever!
- Maria (8/5): Wonderful stay in an awesome area and fabulous chic property - A beautiful house with fabulous garden. Views of Sugarloaf mountain from bedroom balcony. Nice touches - good hairdryer, robes, honesty bar. Breakfast was divine - fresh juices, fruit, yoghurt, toast, eggs. Owners were super friendly and helpful and Bianca the dog was the calmest loveliest canine companion. Santa Teresa is a fab location away from the bustle of the city but not too far away. Some taxis don’t take fares to top
Of hill but didn’t in on niece us too much
- Rolf (10/5): Sehr angenehm und entspannt! - Sehr gut Nichts
- Rebecca (10/5): - Beautiful guesthouse, would highly recommend. Guido was so welcoming and as a solo traveller i looked forward to my daily chats with him over a delicious breakfast on the terrace.
- Jason (10/5): An enchanting, colonial-era mansion escape into the hills of Santa Teresa with the most wonderful hosts! - The Bianca is sort of like a private museum (but a VERY comfortable one!) brought to life: a gorgeous colonial-era mansion perched on a Santa Teresa hilltop with balcony views with chairs, a hammock, and views looking out to the sea, offering spectacular sunrises/sets. The interiors of the home are colourful, with exceptional art on the walls and inviting seating areas to be enjoyed while light music by Ella Fitzgerald and other greats wafts through and out onto the patio, where a fresh and varied breakfast is served between 8 and 10 am daily. It’s a very quiet and safe location, too, with the bustling heart of the area just a few minutes’ walk away to shops & restaurants and a major tram stop. The home’s gardens are lush and colourful, alive with hummingbirds and other birds as well. Guido and Francisco were the most helpful and accommodating hosts and made our stay an absolute joy. We will be back and we’ve already told our friends, “You MUST come with us or stay here on your own trip to Rio!” What an absolute treasure the Bianca is, and all for a very reasonable price. This place is a real gem! For us, there is absolutely nothing we could find fault with.
- Yvette (10/5): Great stay in an amazing house - Guesthouse Bianca is a beautiful large house, decorated with style and love in the Bohemian arts area Santa Teresa. Guido and Fransico are great, taking care of you and giving you tips on Rio de Janeiro and even getting up in the middle of the night when you have to leave for the airport!
The rooms and bathrooms are large and mine had a balcony overlooking the iconic view of Rio.
I certainly will be coming back here!
- Mrs (10/5): Fantastic! - Homely feel and proximity to restaurants etc Nothing
- Mr.stephan (10/5): Exceptional - It was a wonderful stay in a beautyful location with incredible lovely hosts. When the stay was over, it feels more like a farewell then a Check-Out. Dont miss out on Santa Teresa!
- Sarah (10/5): Wonderful hosts, gorgeous place with stunning views. - Perfect short stay in Rio. Our hosts were wonderfully welcoming, their house and gardens simply beautiful. Gorgeous breakfast set us up perfectly for a lovely walk around Santa Teresa, with stunning views from the look out at the park at the end of the street. I wished we could have stayed longer.
- Griselda (10/5): Amazing find - Everything! It’s a beautiful property in an amazing location. The hosts are absolutely wonderful and super helpful. The breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend to anyone considering staying here :) Nothing!!
- Christopher (10/5): Tranquility, comfort and kindness. - 10+ experience, beautiful property, beautiful hosts, made us feel so welcome. Very calm, chill experience, an oasis. Do not hesitate book here.
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional place -
- Daria (10/5): Exceptional - This place is absolutely amazing! It has a unique atmosphere and an incredible vibe that makes you feel right at home. The host is super responsive and welcoming, always ready to help. The location is perfect—right in the heart of Santa Teresa, just a short walk from Parque das Ruínas. If you’re looking for a stylish and cozy stay with a true local feel, this is the place to be!
- Charles (10/5): Way beyond my expectation - Very helpful staff and owner
- Victor (10/5): Highly recommend staying here for a unique and peaceful experience in Rio. - The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The location was close enough to everything but far away enough to be peaceful. The owners are extremely kind and thoughtful and the space was beautiful, clean and well curated.
- Debra (10/5): Beautiful restored house, Guido and Francisco, made our stay so wonderful and was lovely to soend our mirni gs worh them - Great location in St teresa old town. Easy to walk around and wonderful restaurants and shops
- Christy (10/5): A slice of heaven in Santa Teresa! - Wonderful historical mansion that is beautifully restored. Guido was a fantastic host & we enjoyed our stay. Quiet & great views as well. Loved the architectural building/ park up the street - a must see! I think a dresser in our room would help. I needed more drawers- otherwise everything was top notch.
- Katherine (9/5): Had a wonderful time at this beautiful guesthouse in one of the most charming and fun neighborhoods in Rio. Thank you, G - Location, aesthetic/style, host, view, balcony, breakfast :)
- Alina (10/5): Simply amazing! Cannot wait to come back :) - It is home away from home that you’ll find in Rio. Charming guesthouse with beautiful garden and the most welcoming people. Comfortable, clean, safe, and located in the nicest neighbourhood of Santa Teresa. One of the best experiences I’ve had ❤️ very grateful to Guido and Francesco 🙏❤️
- Sherrylene (9/5): Warm and welcoming :) - The guesthouse is situated in a nice area of Rio called Santa Teresa. Very close to the Selaron steps, Parque de la Ruinas (amazing place) and Lapa.
The hosts, especially Guido made sure that I had everything, from organising an early breakfast to allowing to rest at the guesthouse after my flight (which was early in the morning) when I arrived before the check in time. I enjoyed having conversations with Guido about the events going on in Rio. The room was wonderful - spacious with a very big bathroom and bedroom area.
Santa Teresa neighbourhood is quite artsy, there are local shops and restaurants within walking distance. Ubers sometimes cancel. It's not the most popular with taxis because the guesthouse is located quite far up the hill.
There weren't any supermarkets close by, the only options were to go to a restaurant to have lunch or dinner.
- Armstrong (10/5): I will definitely stay here again on my next visit - The property was quiet and beautiful and in a really good area to get around. Guido was so helpful throughout our entire stay and made everything accommodating and gave suggestions. Nothing I didn’t like
- Laura (10/5): Guesthouse Bianca is a dream place and I loved it. The atmosphere of a historical Victorian villa with its unique taste - Guesthouse Bianca is a beautiful historical victorian villa located in Santa Teresa, Rio. It is very well designed and decorated with taste, the atmosphere is unique and The kindness of the owners is exceptional.
- Dolan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jackie (10/5): Outstanding in every way! - Guido is an exceptional host who goes out of his way to make his guests feel at home. His guesthouse is beautifully designed with tasteful decor and tile work throughout. The artsy neighborhood of Santa Teresa with its cobble streets and opulent mansions of times past has a unique vibe. We loved our stay! Nothing
- Franziska (10/5): Perfect little paradise in Santa Teresa with the best breakfast. - The owner and the whole staff are very friendly and the owner also gives a lot of advices and recommendations on what to do in Rio and also how you can get there. One can feel that a lot of love is put in the house to make it the comfiest it can get. We loved everything about the stay and would always again come here and enjoy this little paradise.
- Nicole (10/5): Luxury and beauty in an historic house in an historic district of Rio - We absolutely loved the property, a tastefully decorated 1930's villa in Santa Teresa. It was luxurious and yet still homely. The owners live on the property and take good care of it. The garden was stunning and an excellent quality breakfast was served on the beautiful patio each morning surrounded by the lush garden. We had the room with a terrace and a view of the Sugarloaf mountain and the bay. Our host, Guido, was very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home right away, The location was excellent to visit the Seralon Steps and the city centre and to do the historic tram ride as it is in the heart of the quirky, arty and historic Santa Teresa district. There is a steep climb back to the accommodation if you go anywhere. It is best to take an Uber or a taxi to get back to the accommodation after a day of sightseeing.
- Shamsta1234 (10/5): Great value accommodation and lovely breakfast - We had an amazing stay at Guesthouse Bianca.
It is a short walk from the local bars and restaurants, the bedroom and en suite have all the space you could need and all for an affordable price, that helps you to pad out your budget. OK, it doesn't have a pool but you're most likely in Santa Teresa to see the local area rather than lounge around, in any case.
I can't speak highly enough of our hosts, who also made us a wonderful breakfast each morning, and were extremely generous about our late checkout.
- Eva (10/5): Wonderful pocket of paradise in Santa Teresa! - Lovely host who made us feel at home right away (also thanks to his sweet dog, Bianca!).
Everything was very clean and comfortable.
The place feels colourful and light thanks to the original features of the beautiful house, the unique stained glass windows, high ceilings and carefully chosen art pieces.
Breakfast on the terrace each morning, surrounded by birdsong and flowers, was a little slice of paradise!
The location is great in Santa Teresa, very safe and near to some beautiful view points and nice bars with live music on some nights of the week. N/A

Inspirational place
Guido is the best A duvet might have been good on certain cold nights
- Francis (10/5): Oasis in Santa Teresa - Guido was the loveliest host we could have asked for. He was accommodating upon our check-in and check-out, he was thoughtful, his breakfast was exquisite, and his home was serene. Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Rio de Janeiro. The surrounding neighborhood of Santa Teresa was also very charming and scenic. We will certainly return in the future! Thanks for everything, Guido!
- Gail (10/5): A beautiful small hotel with the perfect hosts: so friendly and helpful. - Our hosts were true stars. Their hotel is elegant and beautifully appointed. Our room was immaculate and very spacious. We always enjoyed an excellent start to our day on the lovely covered garden terrace where we watched hummingbirds and enjoyed breakfast. We were offered a generous spread: papaya, mango, yoghurt and granola; freshly made juice/smoothie; cheese and ham; bread/toast; slices of cake; and the option of eggs cooked to preference. Most evenings, we brought back food for a light supper (having usually eaten a larger meal at restaurants at lunchtime) and we were kindly supplied with place settings (plates, knives and cutting boards for our cheese), a toaster and even our own fridge. Located very close to the Museu da Chacara do Ceu with its peaceful grounds, and – for late afternoon cocktails and expansive views of Rio – the neighbouring Parque das Ruinas. Our Paulista friends have already taken note of Hotel Bianca, as Santa Teresa is also their preferred neighbourhood. Everything was top-notch!
- Carole (10/5): Wonderful stay in a very nice house, with extremely friendly hosts - Everything was just perfect. Guido and Francisco are absolutely wonderful hosts, very outgoing and attentive to their guests. The location in Santa Teresa is simply marvelous and the house awesome.
The room turned out to be a huge suite, very nicely furnished, the breakfast on the terrace was delicious.
Thank you !
- Ana (10/5): Wonderful and wishing to visit again! - We never expected the location to be as great as we were mainly attracted by the look and design of the house. So it was a great surprise to find out that we could explore the area by foot and also reach some sightseeing highlights easily. The most surprising and what we loved the most is how quiet it was and how it allowed us to regain energy! Plus, the guava juice was probably the best thing I had during my whole time in Rio!
Cannot recommend this place enough!!!
- Kevin (10/5): Lovely owners, beautiful house, superb location with distant views. - Beautiful old house with an amusing history. -
- Xiaoying (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timo (10/5): Beautiful Guesthouse, great service and tastefully decorated rooms. Absolutely recommend the place. - Thank you Guido and team! My family really enjoyed the stay at your place in all aspects and we clearly recommend the place. A great alternative to stay in Rio and perfect calm alternative to the busy neighbourhodds of Copacabana and Ipanema.
- Frahimi (10/5): Our stay was just perfect. Thank you Guido - We would like to thank Guido
He is an amazing host and we enjoyed our stay and our conversations with him a lot.
This was my fifth time visiting Rio and in all my visits I said … once I would love to stay in Santa Teresa.
Guesthouse Bianca is an oasis of peace with a beautiful house and garden. It is well located with a great view to the Sugarloaf Mountain from the room and in walking distance from top of the Escadaria Selarón. So it's easy to get to Lapa and any public transportation. We were mainly walking up and down the hill.
We would love to visit Rio and Guesthouse Bianca again.
