Guest Reviews
- Susan (10/5): - Modern, attractive property in beautiful setting in the mountains with friendly staff
- Heather (10/5): - A quiet getaway that we are glad we stumbled upon.
- Gina (10/5): - Beautiful, cozy place to stay. Highly recommend
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Very comfortable stay and excellent food. We enjoyed our evening meal and also the breakfast with a wide choice on the menu and lovely selection of fresh fruit on the buffet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Expected more for the price - On a fairly quiet road junction, we did experience some road noise early in the morning. The carpark is rough.
Staff made an effort to welcome us, offering fresh milk for the room and help with luggage.
Rooms were clean but need some updating especially the TV which you couldn't keep plugged in if you wanted to boil a kettle. You have to move the bedside tables to access the sockets by the bed.
The bathroom was well appointed with a modern finish. The shower took some working out and you will get wet switching it on!
Breakfast was good, nice to have fresh fruit and cooked to order hot dishes.
All that said we think it is overpriced.
- Robin (4/5): Poor value for miney - Bed was horrible dipped in the middle and uncomfortable. An old dirty sofa stuck in the corner unable to use apart from loading bags. Room was noisy on busy road
- Francis (10/5): - Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean rooms. Nice bar/restaurant. Good food.
- Valerie (10/5): - Staff were fantastic very friendly and helpful, food was lovely and a lot of it, rooms comfortable bit noisy with the road but we knew that before we booked.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming, lovely stay. - Lovely, breakfast was delicious every day. Service with a smile most days. Very knowledgable and recommended trips and walks that we didn’t know about. Room was super comfortable, rustic and the whole place is so charming.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Staff lovely food excellent location amazing. A wardrobe would have been nice but given the age of the pub rooms are unavoidably on the small side.Would unreservedly recommend staying
- Michael (10/5): Cross Foxes break - Very friendly staff food in the evening was great. Then breakfast was even better. We will definitely book again .
- David (10/5): - Lovely accommodation, staff were great and the food was amazing
- Peter (10/5): - Warm welcome with nice touch of fresh milk offered on arrival. Light airy and clean room. Nothing to much trouble for staff.
- Mike (10/5): - A great location and lovely rooms. Clearly recently refurbished.
I used this as a base for heading into the Mach Comedy Festival over the weekend and the drive in was stunning each day.
Lovely staff made the whole experience. I'll absolutely be back when in the area again.
- STEPHEN (6/5): Disappointing , a huge decline in standards - Best part of the stay was breakfast. Nice room Lovely setting. Apart from that disappointing. The room had obviously not been used for a while, the heating was off and the room was like a walk in freezer, the milk cartons were all dried up. For a £££ room its not what one would expect. The shower was nice, bed etc was great. Evening meal was a real let down, a very limited menu, mediocre food @ ridiculous prices, dearer than the Ivy! A real shame as its a lovely place but we will stay elsewhere next time.
- Wendy (8/5): Would return - Great customer service. The restaurant was good and breakfast next level. Unfortunately the room was incredibly hot and we couldn’t control it and cool it down. The grout in the bathroom needed attention. Having said that we would go back
- Robert (6/5): No wonder the foxes are cross - With exception to the waitress on the last morning who was hopeless, the staff were very friendly and efficient.!First two mornings our waitresses was excellent. Good breakfast portions, well presented and tasty. Only had one evening meal, ok but having to listen to the kitchen staff watching football in the background was poor to say the least.
Room was ok but dirty. Carpet not vacuumed and dirty cup marks all over, we had to clean ourselves. The building it’s self needs a dam good clean and some TLC..
In general I would say a long way short of any awards it may have received in the distant past.
We ate out 2 of 3 nights to avoid the place.
- angela (8/5): - Friendly, helpful staff.
Room not serviced during our three night stay
- Denise (10/5): Great place - Absolutely loved our stay. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Evening meal was absolutely delicious as was breakfast. Room was very nice, clean and comfy too. Would definitely recommend.
- STEPHEN (8/5): Good Stay - Really nice stay , good food and drink, lovely room with a nice bathroom. Plenty of free parking and a great breakfast, would stay here again
- Ashley (10/5): Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. - Very friendly staff. We had a lovely suite room at the very top of the building. Nice decor in the room. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a nice touch. Good shower. The breakfast was excellent, evening food was just ok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely little cosy place to stay with a nice restaurant and bar area. We stayed in one of the suites and was very nice and spacious! Would definitely recommend!
- Jagdeep (10/5): Nice surroundings, lovely room, would stay again - We had a fantastic stay! The room was lovely and the facilities were perfect.
Staff were super friendly and accommodating, managed to get us in for dinner on what was clearly a very busy night for them. Definitely recommend a stay here!
- Alison (10/5): Warm welcome and delicious food - We had an excellent stay here. We parked with ease in the large on-site free car park. The hotel was easy to find on a major junction. We had a warm welcome and check-in process was quick and easy. Our room was wonderful and tastefully decorated with a warm cosy feel. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom modern. We had everything we needed. We enjoyed a very tasty meal in the pub restaurant downstairs in front of the roaring fireplace. We even enjoyed the sounds of some fast jets going by. Recommended!
- Michael (10/5): Stunning Hotel/Location and staff - Stunning Hotel. Great location and beautiful views.
All staff are very friendly and happy to help. Meals are beautiful.
Very relaxing but great for walks and climbed Cader Idris whilst we were there.
Would highly recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the price of the room everything was clean apart from the grouting in the tiles in the shower which was dirty the underfloor heating in the bathroom wasn’t working and blinds would be a good idea at the windows as the shutters still let light in and didn’t close properly
- David (10/5): worth seeking out - I've had means here many times but this was the first time I have stayed - and it was outstanding. Given the closure of all pubs the day before (Corvid) they managed room service and unfailing hospitality and obvious concern means I will return as soon as I can.
- Alan (8/5): - We were made really welcome, good accomodation and its position is perfect.
- Yasmin (10/5): - The room was really comfortable and high standard as well as the rest of the hotel. Location is beautiful with mountains all around and the staff topped this up with their friendly & helpful attitude. Would highly recommend.
- Jane (8/5): A charming b&b - Lovely location but the afternoon lunch was a little disappointing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place..room gorgeous.great location.will definitely return
- Verified traveler (10/5): Idealic pub with rooms! - Fabulous location, great staff, great place and fab good.
- Yvonne (10/5): What a surprise! - This was a great place to stay. We had a lovely room. The staff were so friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us.
They recommended places to see and always enquiries if we had enjoyed our day.
The food was really good and we were so sorry to leave. One of the best places we have stayed.
- David (10/5): Beautiful hidden gem in the mountains - A very relaxing atmosphere for a lovely short break. There's lots to do in the local area and the food here is just superb for any meal. Portion sizes are generous and the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is very warm and welcming after a day out in the Welsh mountain air.
- Robin (6/5): Adequate though not great - Perfectly adequate. Our modestly-sized room was too warm and when we opened the windows we were disturbed by the road noise. Staff very friendly. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were puzzlingly crumbly.
- Andy (10/5): Simply the best - This is a lovely hotel. The accommodation was excellent. We had the Cadair Suite. The food was amazing. We booked an evening meal and my only regret was I couldn’t manage a desert. Breakfast was outstanding. All the staff were exceptional. We will definitely recommend you to our friends and family.
- David (10/5): Perfect getaway... to the mountains or the beach! - Fabulous location for exploring all that Snowdonia has to offer. The hotel staff are wonderfully friendly, and enthusiastically good at their jobs . The restaurant is comfortable, modern, and tables spaced out so that guests are not in each others faces! The food is top notch for mixed bar and grill. The outside elevated decking area has fine views and is large, with tables and chairs. The room we had was perfect (modern in taste) for our needs, lovely shower, with top rate facilities, large comfortable bed, and a "cut above" tea and coffee service The only, and I mean, only small reservation. The sound of the traffic on the road adjacent to the room (we always have a window ajar - summer or winter!) was sometimes intrusive, but a small quibble only. Value for money? A little expensive, but you are paying for modern and innovative facilities, plus location., location, location!
- Anthony (8/5): Good Food - Staff service and helpfulness, first class, no air con in room, very warm unable to have windows open due to road noise
- Stephen (10/5): A walkers paradise. - This location is brilliantly set for the southern Snowdonia hills and coast. But more than that the food is excellent, the standard of accommodation is boutique and very well appointed. The staff were interested in me and my itinerary. I would certainly visit again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful! - Beautiful hotel with modern amenities, great food and lovely staff. The room had everything you could wish for, and more, and was thoughtfully decorated so as to offer comfort but also fit in with the surrounding area. The welcoming cake was a lovely touch too! Hope to be back before too long!
- Les (10/5): Snowdonia bike trip - Friendly staff, good sized room, comfy bed and excellent breakfast.
- Paul (10/5): - Great service and hotel, thourughly recommended. Food is good too!
- Joanne (8/5): Relaxing break - Friendly helpful staff and incredible food. Rooms were well finished and very comfortable.
- David (10/5): Excellent 5 star - Very clean and comfortable room. Excellent bar with real fire and superb food
