- F2103KP_ (2/5): Extremely disappointing – Zero empathy during a crisis - Extremely disappointing – Zero empathy during a crisis "I had a reservation at Salvadonica that I was forced to cancel due to the current war in Israel and massive flight cancellations. Despite being a situation of clear Force Majeure, the hotel management was completely inflexible and refused any request for a refund or a future credit voucher, even after offering to help them re-sell the room. It is deeply disheartening to encounter such a lack of compassion from a business during a humanitarian crisis. While I understand policies, I believe extraordinary circumstances call for basic human decency and flexibility—which this hotel clearly lacks. I strongly advise fellow travelers to be cautious when booking here, as management prioritizes keeping your money over providing fair service under unavoidable, life-altering circumstances."
- jessandc (6/5): Lovely views, but very remote - The location of Salvadonica is so picturesque! We enjoyed the views, the pool, the restaurant, the wine and olive oil tasting and the cooking class and painting class available. You could walk the vineyards and watch a movie under the stars. Luckily, these kept us busy for a while. We didn't realize without a car, we could go nowhere! A taxi would have to come from Florence, so the cost would be prohibitive. I wish we had been informed of this, but I take responsibility since I could have done more research. The rooms were quite adequate and clean, though my room s (#20) bathroom seemed to have a venting problem because the sewer gasses were pretty awful. They had a scented oil in there but that didn't help. I liked the rooms location, so I didn't say anything until check out. They acted surprised which was funny because I've read this in other reviews. I believe only this room was affected. The staff were efficient, but not overly friendly. The chef who gave us our cooking lesson was lovely, though. If you stay here, have a car!! If you have a day off rain, you stay in your room and read a book if you don't

- Bmad121 (10/5): Total relaxation in the heart of Tuscany - I can’t say enough about this property and all it has to offer. A wonderfully peaceful escape in the heart of Tuscany. The views are something dreams are made of. The cooking class was lots of fun and definitely a highlight of our stay. The restaurant was simply superb. The food and wine were top notch and the waitstaff were only too eager to make your dining experience something you won’t forget.

All the rooms offer a great deal of privacy with outdoor seating areas. We unwound and relaxed daily at the beautiful pool after touring Tuscany and Florence. The pool overlooks the Tuscan vineyards. We were torn as to whether to stay in Tuscany or Florence. Hands down, we made the right choice by staying here!

- Brandon (10/5): Wonderful Stay! Did I mention beautiful scenery?!? - Wonderful stay! Absolutely beautiful location with the option to do as much or as little as you want. Lots of bookable activities to do (bike riding, hot air balloon rides, cooking class, wine tasting, etc) or just relax and take in the beauty around you! Felt high end, but within a rural secluded location. Room was very large (family room for 2 adults, 2 children) and nice! Bonus...it had its own very large dedicated outdoor patio space for use! Pool was great for the kids, offered poolside service for a small fee and plenty of chairs to lounge and enjoy the scenery! Food was great, but would recommend they expand their menu or have a rotating menu for those staying longer (we stayed 4 nights). Overall, really enjoyed our stay and would happily return or recommend to others!

We loved the fact that there are only 30 rooms, making for a more intimate experience. The pool is beautiful and the food was delicious. We had a suite, thus our patio was large w/an incredible view. We took advantage of the proximity to the village to go out for dinner a couple times. We visited a couple wineries w/in a 10 minute drive. We also visited Pisa and Florence. We would highly recommend this location and wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future!

- nicoledA6925FN (10/5): One of the most beautiful places - We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Salvadonica! We rented a car in Florence and it was a quick 20 minute drive from the airport. Breathtaking views and such a beautiful property. The service on property is wonderful, too. We booked the picnic, wine tasting and cooking class as part of our stay and all were well worth the price. The picnic was a filling, three course meal with a bottle of wine. The sommelier who hosted our wine tasting was incredibly knowledgable and engaging. Chef Alessia and our cooking class was definitely a highlight of our whole time in Italy. She was fun, a great teacher and we made an incredible meal! If you are going to book any experience at Salvadonia - book that one. Rooms were spacious and the restaurant on property was delicious. We're already dreaming of a day when we can come back!

The pool and pool area is fab with peaceful, amazing views. Overall a very well kept, tranquil place to spend a few days. Only disappointment was our room which despite being a deluxe room had no outside window and was very dark.

I love the fact this is ran by the whole family, and they make you feel like that the minute you arrive. For my husbands birthday they left us a little welcome dessert and note in our room! The resort is quiet and peaceful, you can hear birds and enjoy nature. The property is so relaxing, and it’s wonderful to have 1 place that does it all….winery, restaurant, olive oil tasting, and hotel all in one. The breakfast was so delicious and fresh, and it offered so much variety for all tastes. We are already planning on our next trip to Italy and we will be staying here again without a doubt. We absolutely LOVED Salvadonica!!!!!!!!

There is ample parking, you’re fairly close to town and two Coop groceries, yet out in your own personal oasis. The breakfast is outstanding with great variety and a mixture of things you recognize and a few you may not. We had dinner there, and the light lunch, and our only quibble would be that the portions could be a little larger, and maybe not so much on the pricey side. That said the CDN dollar is likely to blame, and that is not their fault. If you’re looking to spend a few days away from it all in Italy and looking for a great place to relax, that’s in the heart of the Chianti region you really couldn’t find a better spot.

The grounds are stunning & meticulous. The staff are incredibly accommodating. Vincenzo! The food and wine offerings are truly Tuscan and tasty! Their breakfast is as good as you will find. The rooms are charming & sparking clean - beautiful tile throughout. The agri-hotel is safe. Bring a car, but take a hike down the path to Mercatale as well to visit a little town as well. I give this property and their staff the highest recommendation!

My husband & I visited on the tail end our our Italy vacation and were looking for relaxation and character and this offered both! The grounds are gorgeous, picturesque with incredible service. We enjoyed the communal breakfasts, walking throughout the property. The rooms are small, but quaint with plenty of beautiful details. Was a really incredible way to experience the Tuscan way. Restaurant is also delicious. Hope we can find our way back to visit soon!

- KelliB147 (10/5): Would go again this year if I could.... - Hi, I actually went last June 2023, but TripAdvisor wouldn't let me write a review that old, but in the course of planning a new Italy trip, I had to remember to review Salvadonica. Basically, last year we went there as a family of 4 and we couldn't have been happier. The relaxed but elegant atmosphere, the intimate setting, the impeccable grounds the helpful but not over solicitous staff. Did the wine and olive oil tasting, had a wonderful time, the sommelier is a lovely guy. Kitchen delivered with every meal. We stayed 2 nights, and wished we had booked a third. If you're looking for a laid back, intimate, yet lovely stay, with reasonable rates and delicious food, not corporatized or over done in that way that feels scripted, go here. You will not be disappointed. Our rooms were small but tasteful, but you don't spend time in the rooms. Rented e bikes and had a wonderful afternoon.

It’s a beautiful property with high-end amenities. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and taking in the scenery. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the wine tasting experience. Would highly recommend.

Our only complaint or word of wisdom is we were surprised about how many children were there. Most were very respectful and well behaved but that wouldn’t appeal to some. We particularly like kids, so ok with us but I know friends who would be less thrilled with the addition noise and commotion.

- jodihdenver (10/5): Better than expected! - We LOVED Salvadonica. My husband and I went October 2019. We then recommended it to friends who went in 2021 with their kids. They loved it too. The setting is lovely in an olive grove and the grounds and accommodations are modern and inviting. The food was delicious from the included breakfast to dinners. And definitely get the vin santo with cookies! Oh...and do the cooking class. One of the favorite experiences we did while visiting Italy. Only regret is that we just should have stayed here longer....sigh.

- Extraordinary377871 (4/5): Not Luxury - basic - This place is very basic - not luxury. Not terrible but certainly the worst place we stayed in Italy. (out of 5 hotels/resorts) Just a few thoughts: Beds are on the floor, furniture is cheap (like Walmart plastic lamps), closet is a metal rod in the room, no room service, no ice, breakfast buffet is Ok but not great, restaurant was average at best - we ate there twice and would not go back, service is nonexistent, and pool was not well maintained. Best part of this place was location - we explored all of Chianti region from here, Wine tasting at the hotel was fun - met people from all over the world, and the sunrise hot air ballon ride was great. Only posting to try to help others out - wish someone had told me the website makes it look much nicer than reality.
- e_s_b1011 (10/5): The best Tuscan experience - I am not even sure where to begin my review. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!! We booked this place over 6 months in advance as we were planning my mother in law's 60th birthday for our family of 9 where we booked 3 junior suites. I had been emailing the Salvadonica numerous times prior to my stay for various things and they were extremely prompt in their response and very very helpful in trying to book restaurant reservations, hiring a private driver, recommending wineries nearby and also organizing a cake for a celebratory birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly during breakfast and meals we had on property, especially with our children who were under 5. In terms of the property, saying it is beautiful is an understatement! wow wow wow, the views and the grounds are breathtaking and our rooms were all very nice and clean and spacious. Not to mention the sunset views from the hotel! I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tuscany! marvelous! One of my favorite parts of our 10 day stay in Italy.

The breakfast and dinners are so good We did an 8 day tour and we were looking for somewhere to relax and do a few day trips it was perfecto. Our carpet in the room was smelly no problem sent in two guys they removed and vacuumed!! I highly recommend Salvadonica
- NewMexiTim (10/5): The most beautiful place we've ever seen - 'nough said - This was our first trip to Tuscany, and wow, it did not disappoint. Safe to say we'll never forget our visit! We had the wine tasting, which was excellent. It was about 3 glasses of wine and an olive oil tasting, and very much about the history of the region told in a very entertaining way. We loved it! The restaurant served us a picnic lunch, which we took out in the grass and watched a gorgeous sunset. I proposed, she said yet, and the restaurant was kind enough to give us a complimentary bottle of champagne and a commemorative leather corkscrew keychain. All the staff was excellent. We're looking forward to returning sometime soon!

Property is very well maintained, the front desk staff provide a genuine welcoming and high level of customer service. The rooms are impeccable, with nice bedding, pillows, mattress, etc. bathrooms are modern style. The restaurant was great - you will not find a breakfast more superb! Great quality of food and huge variety from pastries, eggs, fruit, yogurt, granola, bacon, local cheese, etc. we loved our stay. Go to the market in the nearby town and grab some fresh break and sandwich fixings. Also I had shared with the staff via email that it was my moms birthday prior to our stay and they offered a cake to purchase to surprise her after dinner-the entire restaurant sang to her and it really made her day!

The grounds are scenic and the daily breakfast is great. The on-site restaurant has wonderful cuisine. Staff are also helpful and friendly. Lots of wineries, great food spots and hilltop villages are within a 30 minute drive. Would stay here again.

- shawn (10/5): Beautiful Chateau among the Tuscan Hills - Salvadonica was one of the highlights of our three week trip to Italy - you can’t beat the beauty and luxury of this sprawling property nestled in the hills of Tuscany. There is plenty to do at the hotel (great food, wine, olive oil tastings, pool, hiking) and it is close to several small towns with their own hidden attractions and picturesque charm. Only a 45 minute drive from Florence, we will definitely be back for a longer stay and to use this as a base to explore more of Tuscany.

The eggs were sometimes cold but the pastries were delicious. I will recommend staying here for family and friends wanting to go to this area, but dinner should be eaten somewhere else as it was not worth the price.
