Guest Reviews
- Nina (10/5): Wonderful hotel in a beautiful location - Wonderful hotel, cant recommend highly enough. Great location on the south west coast path.
They offer a packed lunch for the next day which is definitely needed for the walk from Hartland way to Bude!
- Jennifer (10/5): - Amazing location. Very comfortable, spacious room with a sea view. Friendly, efficient staff. Good food at very reasonable prices.
- Joanna (8/5): Spectacular location - We stayed one night in 4 persons room (3 of us), we also had dinner in the restaurant. Food was great and service was excellent.
The place is in a spectacular location and offers incredible views on the quay. We enjoyed a couple of drinks while watching a wonderful sunset- couldnt wish for more dreamy end to a day of walking on SWCP!
The room we had was good, although we only had 2 small bottles of water, 2 towels and only 1 pack of small treats. Not a big deal, and I'm sure we couldve asked for additional, but we were too tired after a day of walking.
- Kyla (10/5): - Lovely little gem on the coast, with beautiful walks on the doorstep .
Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
Home made Jams at breakfast were amazing.
- Patrick (10/5): - Headland setting was picturesque.
- Jon (10/5): - Very helpful staff
- Randall (10/5): - Property is located next to hart land Quay beach, which is special rock formations. Property is old and simple, but great location, museum with alot of history on property. Recommend this property due to its special location. Restaurant was good home style food and nice attentive staff.
- Troy (10/5): - Fantastic location with great facilities
- RICHARD (10/5): - Room comfy and clean. Staff friendly and very welcoming.
Meal very good, service excellent. Excellent location for walking
- Ann (10/5): - Very helpful staff. Amazing location.
- Debra (10/5): - The Hartland Quay is a really quirky property. The location is absolutely stunning! The dramatic seascapes are almost part of the decor! My room was comfortable, really clean and had everything I needed. I had dinner in the pub that is part of the hotel. The food was really good and the staff excellent. Breakfast was really good too….especially the home made raspberry jam….made with real raspberries and there were bits of real raspberry in it!!! I really enjoyed my stay, staff were lovely and helpful. Will definitely go back for a longer stay.
- Ruth (10/5): - .
- hasan (10/5): - Lovely place
- Julie (10/5): - Lovely inn in a great area of natural beauty
- Ronan (10/5): Amazing find! - This was our gem of a find while searching for places to stay during our recent holiday. We were planning on staying somewhere else a fair distance away until we saw the image for this hotel. When they say its on the cliff, it literally is that close and the views are incredible! Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Hotel has a restaurant and bar downstairs as there arent a lot of places nearby. Lots of parking available, overnight parking is for the hotel guests only, so no problems with parking! Would definitely come back here.
- Peter (10/5): - Unique and in a fabulous area
- Bonnie (10/5): - Lovely hotel located in the most stunning natural scenery. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Would definitely recommend!
- Jetmir (10/5): What an amazing little find! - Amazing little spot with amazing views. Will definitely be back.
- Robert (8/5): - The views are excellant especial at sunset.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Spot for a Break - Stunning location. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean comfortable bedrooms. Excellent Breakfast. Because of large numbers catered for, especially during summer months, food is kept simple. Its pub grub, well cooked and presented but not exciting. Beer well kept. Would highly recommend.
- Robert (8/5): - Absolutely stunning scenery. Excellent real ale and good pub group with very reasonable prices. Good breakfast, lovely staff and wonderful value for money
- Ian (10/5): - Truly great break even if it was just for one night.
Although not a busy night because of the storm and it being winter we enjoyed the hospitality, food, chatter and general ambience.
We have tried to book a night at the hotel over the years but with no luck. We were so lucky to see first hand Storm Isha from the comfort of the hotel. Definitely will be back.
- Chris (10/5): - Outstanding!
- Douglas (6/5): - The linens were clean but the room was shabby
- Derek (8/5): - The hotel is in a beautiful location directly adjacent the sea and the views are outstanding. We were running very late the day of check in and staff stayed until after 10 pm to provide us the room key. The room was very clean and had all expected amenities. The breakfast was very good and included continental and cooked options. Overall I wouldn't rate my stay as very good.
- rachel (6/5): - stunning location right on the beach. rooms are dated. and although room i had was sea view it is only if you stand up and look over roof of building in front. but was nice to hear the sea through the night. warning there is no mobile signal at all here. just hotel wifi which was ok most of the time.
- Grant (10/5): - Quaint , dramatic setting, something out of a smuggler novel.
Food and drinks selection very good, staff friendly and helpful.
Recommend if you’re after something unique 👍
- Alice (10/5): An excellent hotel, good value for money. - My room was spacious and spotless. For such an exposed and stormy location the hotel felt dry, quiet, clean and warm. The bed was so comfortable. the pub was charming, obviously very popular. Drink prices weren't too high, considering the remoteness of the pub. I highly recommend this hotel.
- Andrew (10/5): Great Service - Great service from Donul and the team much appreciated
- Susan (10/5): Cornwall's special place. - Hartland Quay Hotel is a unique place where the wildness, beauty and charm of Cornwall can be fully appreciated. Even on a bad day weatherwise there is a special magic about a place so isolated, yet still vibrating with the history of this magical spot, and so beautifully run for visitors who can expect every comfort, good food and care from charming hosts.
- Derek (10/5): Hotel with great views - Great siting for a walking break, some great circular walks from the hotel taking in some fantastic vistas and waterfalls. Recommend looking at South West Coast Path website for walks. The hotel room was clean and well equipped, breakfast brilliant and will fill you up for a days walk (Packed lunches are availlable but we did not partake. Restaurant served good and reasonably priced pub food with well kept real ale.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable stay - One night stay. Twin room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Very helpful manager and staff.
Coastline around the hotel is stunning.
- Kirsty (10/5): - Staff very helpful. Food excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxing break - Really friendly, efficient staff, some of the decor a bit dated but room was spotless and lovely fluffy towels. Spacious shower in our room. It was a family room. The location is spectacular! A shame we couldn’t see the amazing view as there is a building blocking the sea but it is only a short walk away!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel on South West Coast Path - This hotel is on the South West Coast Path, which is an ideal location if you're a walker like us. Not easy to get to without a car, it's a couple of miles from the nearest bus stop. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice, plus they offer delicious packed lunches for walkers for an additional charge. Unfortunately the wifi wasn't great, which wasn't ideal as there is no mobile signal at the hotel.
- Tom (10/5): The Hotel wit the best view in Devon. - This hotel at Hartland Quay is probably the best we have booked, accommodation was 5 star food was 5star from the bar,and breakfast was 5 star, finaly the manager and staff were lovely,we will be back next year.
- Eric (8/5): - Perfect location between Clovelly and Morwenstow along the Southwest Coast Path. Good restaurant/pub. Very iffy Wi-Fi and zero cell coverage so if that’s an issue, catch up with your loved ones at the top of the hill before you walk down to the hotel.
- Michal (8/5): - No internet coverage in the room ok ,doest exist acually ok ,need to be highly improved all right ,orher than that is ok
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good budget accommodation - Despite main road location and old style property a very peaceful stay and good nights sleep. Good meal choice available, nicely cooked. Lovely breakfast and friendly attentive host.
- Phillip (10/5): - Great location, great staff and service.
- M (10/5): Great place to stay - Booked to stay here without really checking out the surroundings, it just fitted with our schedule So glad we did, although strictly a walkers hotel, clean and recently refurbished room. Staff very helpful, excellent food, no complaints indeed, nothing but praise. Breathtaking scenery surrounds, but the real joy is in the Hotel and its staff. Thank you for a lovely stay.
- Andy (10/5): One night stay. - Warm welcome and good accommodation, would stay again.
- Athol (10/5): - Lovely setting and good hotel for a base to walk around the Hartland area. Lovely staff and superb free breakfast.
- Graham (10/5): A warm welcome in a stunning location. - This is a classic 'pub-with-rooms'. Pleasant bar with simple food. Room simple and comfortable. Two things make this place exceptional. One is the stunning setting - the views are breathtaking. The other is the staff - without exception friendly and helpful. Taken together, this makes the Hartland Quay an extremely pleasant place to stay.
- Rebekah (8/5): - Lovely spot. We stayed before flying to Lundy and it was great for that. Nice good lovely staff.
- Debbie (10/5): - Great old place can’t get any further out to sea 😂😂 lovely rooms clean lovely breakfast dinner was great tooo lots of walks
- Neil (8/5): Great away from it all location - Fantastic away from it all location, right next to dramatic coastal cliffs. Room was spacious clean and comfortable. Evening meal and breakfast were good
- Diane (8/5): Good stay - Beautiful view. Secluded area.
The room was in good decorative order however the bathroom smelled and looked damp with damp areas on the ceiling and mould in the shower.
Food was good in the bar areas and breakfast was served quickly and was tasty.
- Adrian (8/5): - Great location and friendly staff
- Derek (10/5): Little Gem - Weather was not the best , but it did not spoil our short break, friendly staff and a comfortable bed, and outstanding views, a hidden gem.
- Simona (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing family room with breathtaking views to the sea! Breakfast was also delicious and service excellent overall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful remote location with splendid views. Friendly and helpful, clean and comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A historic building in a dramatic setting. The staff were charming and attentive at all times. Covid rules were explained well and adhered to throughout my stay
- Andrew (8/5): Stunning location - Perfect base for walking this strech of the coast path. Very comfortable room and good breakast. Very attentive to food allergen needs. A very nice hotel in a stunning location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fantastic setting and perfect for SWCP. The hotel has been upgraded well considering the age of building that they have to deal with.
Food was great lunch eveing and breakfast, our only issue was that breakfast wasn't available until 08:15 which, when walking the SWCP on the hottest day of the year was unfortunate, but maybe this is just due to Covid and might not be case once restrictions ease?
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little hotel - stayed for only
- Lisa (10/5): Exceeds expectations - A stunning location. Wonderful breakfast served by staff who couldn’t be more helpful. Lovely rooms with an incredible view of the sun setting into the sea. Fabulous place for an evening meal. What a wonderful find. Would highly recommend!!
- Tim (10/5): - Great cliffside remote location - the weather was stormy and the view was incredible. Nice bar attached to the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were helpful offering their phone for use if required, providing extra tea at breakfast and opening the museum early for us
- Denise (8/5): A surprising find - The Hartland Quay hotel is in the most amazing location on a peninsular on the south-west coastal path surrounded by dramatic folded rocks. It has a small cove for swimming , a little museum and shop and a pub serving
We booked our room at the last minute and it was very clean and comfortable - If I have to find something the bath towels could have done with being a bit bigger
There is a lovely residents lounge overlooking the ocean and we are hoping to visit in the winter (Covid permitting)
- Helen (10/5): Fantastic hotel in wonderful location - We enjoyed a fabulous 2 night stay at Hartland Quay. I was nervous about staying anywhere at the moment but needn't have worried. Lots of precautions in place, hand sanitizer, spotless rooms. Reataurant and bar were also extremely well managed. This is our third stay at the hotel and we have never been disappointed. Fantastic service . Also fantastic views. We will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed our weekend stay at Hartland Quay hotel which is in a lovely situation right by the sea and very picturesque views. The staff were friendly and the food was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely setting. Great hotel. Friendly staff. Good facilities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our stay. The wonderful location
From the minute we booked in we were treated to an excellent welcome especially by the deputy manager. The food was great as was the service and very reasonably priced
- rey (10/5): Two Thumbs UP!!! - Most Amazing Place, spectacular views!!!
- Peter (8/5): Gem on the SW Coast path - Stunning coastal setting. Good pub. Good restaurant service
- Richard (10/5): - Amazing setting, friendly staff and incredible value.
Only small gripe was sketchy WiFi, that could easily be improved
- ANTHONY (10/5): - Excellent isolated peaceful location. Good bar, good food, great view, nice staff and good secure car park right outside the front door. Good walks and a perfect place to relax and recover from a 13 hour flight from Asia. Great start to our UK tour. Only downside was the kitchen closed at 9pm but if you allow for that no problem. Rooms clean and great full breakfast. Two nights was perfect. Thanks to all the staff.
- Barbie (6/5): - Strong smell of sewage around hotel and in bedroom for whole of stay.
View from window was a rooftop.
Problems getting a table in restaurant on second day.
Not very amenable at breakfast.
Incorrect information given regarding content of food.
Bar staff excellent.
Location excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful but dated - Beautiful venue but the hotel is a bit dated and there was scaffolding/building materials everywhere and sawdust all over the entrance hall.
My room stated ‘sea view’ but the view was restricted and the windows were so filthy you had to open them to see it!
Would have been nice to know works were being done when I booked. £70 for a single bed for the night seemed a little steep but the restaurant and breakfast service, along with the outdoor scenery made up for it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An amazing location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For a start the views are amazing and all contact with the staff was first class my second visit in under a year and hope to go back again at some stage.
Only one slight issue if you are one of those people who like your internet connection fast and all the time the connection is a bit hit and miss.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfect for walkers on the coast path. A good nights sleep with the sound of the waves
- Sarah (10/5): - Very convenient for coastal path and good food in the evenings as well
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Superb situation extremely atmospheric setting in savage coastline
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not all rooms have en-suite although they do have designated bathrooms nearby
- Morag (10/5): Hotel with a view - Chose this hotel for its location which is stunning. Incredible sunsets. Hotel attached to pub. Meals are standard pub food at a reasonable price. We didnt have a room with a view which in restrospect we should have but the room was large and comfortable and the staff were all friendly.
