Guest Reviews
- Annette (10/5): cozy retreat - We stayed in the tiny house and loved the whimsy decor. We saw deer in the yard and enjoyed the peaceful setting. It was very cozy and we enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a very charming B&B and David and John are very, very nice hosts. The property is about 5 minutes drive to downtown Lexington, the rooms are amazing and the breakfast was wonderful. You can't go wrong here - and I didn't even mention the frogs :-)
- James (10/5): Really nice stay - We stayed in the Cottage Room. It was extremely pleasant and so very well decorated. It reminded us of an old fashioned Bed and Breakfast. It was comfortable, and had plenty of furniture to just sit and relax. The person who decorated, one of the owners, really knew what he was doing. The breakfast we had was delicious, in spite of the fact that late the night before we had to ask to have breakfast about an hour earlier than normal. The owner was extremely accommodating and had it ready at our required hour. We asked for a light breakfast, and it was perfect. Will stay here again when we go back to Lexington.
- Bailey (10/5): - I stayed here for three nights while in Lexington for a wedding. I would absolutely recommend this lovely bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a relaxing, charming retreat! The owners are so friendly, accommodating, and helpful, and cook the most delicious breakfasts each morning made from local ingredients. The rooms are all beautiful, and the bed was so comfortable! I absolutely recommend Frog Hollow, what an amazing find!
- Anita (10/5): Wonderful stay! - The hosts were charming, the breakfast was perfect in size and taste. The quiet outside (barring the occasional passing car) was profound. Toiletries, water, and snacks for the taking. Any quibbles I had were absolutely minor. A smaller shower and no bath (not the case in the other rooms; I peeked), a queen mattress firmer than what I am used to, but judging from the fact I slept 12 hours straight, maybe I should get one like that. Should I find myself in that area again, I will certainly try to book here again.
- Cindy (10/5): AMAZING!! - Jon and David were amazing!! Treated us like family!! Loved staying there. The house has a lot of charm and the bed in the garden room was so comfortable! Breakfast in the morning was amazing ! Thank you so much for having us!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My stay at Frog Hollow Bed and Breakfast was even more delightful than I could have ever hoped for. Every detail of the house was impeccable and made me feel at home. The room was clean to museum quality and decorated exquisitely. I didn't want to leave! John and David were so welcoming and a joy to talk to. They made my stay feel tailored to me and not generic in any way. They had several suggestions for nice places to eat and they were genuinely concerned with how I enjoyed my meal and my stay. The breakfast was absolutely GORGEOUS and SO tasty. I dont honestly think they charge enough. This truly felt like a 5 star experience. I would take a trip to Lexington again just to stay there! There isn't a single thing I would say needs improvement.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - David and John were very friendly and most accommodating about late arrivals.
- Jim (10/5): - Lovely spot very convenient to town but off that beaten path, so quiet and peaceful. Good bed, spotless throughout, nice add-ons, fine breakfast, and great hosts. Saw no real frogs, but Wind in the Willows theme is played out everywhere. We were in the Cottage Suite, no really a suite but two private spaces—lounge and bath—separated from each other by a hall shared by other guests. Worked fine.
- Galina (10/5): Great little BNB - Wonderful hosts, fantastic breakfasts, and worth every penny.
- Melinda (10/5): - The Frog Hollow home and property are expertly set up to ensure guests a relaxing and peaceful experience. All the small details are considered, from a guest refrigerator stocked with bottled water outside your room to a thoughtful basket of miscellaneous toiletries on your dresser (Static Guard spray, toothpaste/toothbrush, bandaids, razor/shaving cream, shower cap....) to two of the best breakfasts I have enjoyed in a long time.
- Daivid (10/5): - John made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast is a delicious home cooked meal. We highly recommend Frog Hollow to anyone staying near Lexington.
- Krista (10/5): Cozy tiny house - Frog Hollow is very cozy and private. I highly recommend it and will most definitely return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The cottage at the B&B was lovely and had all the necessities needed for a weekend getaway, or even longer. I went with my son, but I would recommend it for solo travel or a couple.
- Paul (8/5): - It's called bed and breakfast, but our rental (the "tiny" house) did not include breakfast. This was not made clear at all in Expedia. Expedia should have clearly indicated that no breakfast is included with our payment.
- HelenClair (10/5): - The Frog Hollow Inn was a beautiful experience for my husband, Dr. Wallace, our daughter Olivia Grace and I!!! I love history and this picturesque Inn was like going back in time...
It was the perfect place to stay whilst exploring Lexington VA, which is such a memorable spot with Washington&Lee University and VMI. I might add that touring Stonewall Jackson’s Home was an additional treat. We loved our Innkeeper, John, who made our lovely suite comfortable for our teenage daughter and then served us a scrumptious and hearty breakfast. Not only that, we had a lively historical discussion with John and another guest, an Englishman, traveling on business.
All and all, I can say, without reservation, that The Frog Hollow Inn deserves it’s Top Rating!!! We shall return to this home that was built in 1770, before the founding of our nation in 1776!!! (That was another useful historical fact that the Innkeeper, John shared with us at breakfast!)
Thank you for a memorable experience,
Dr Jeff, Helen Clair & Olivia Grace Wallace

- Jerry (4/5): - Negatives: B&B but no breakfast provided and wasn't advertised as such; shower cramped, shower head squeaked and little force; ceiling leaked in bathroom; only one uncomfortable chair to sit in; no King bed as advertised - was a trundle bed you had to move a chest to pull out; washcloths were non-absorbant, crack snacks provided but unhealthy; screens on windows don't fit; porch had split wood trim on the top step which needs repair; multiple steps to lug your luggage to the top of a side hill; not accessible to anyone with disabilities
Positives: Quiet, clean, quaint cottage, good kitchen amenities with stove, microwave, frig, TV, extra towels/blankets, good access to town and historical sites.
- EventingMom (10/5): Great find! - We were in town for a horse show and this location was perfect. We didn't have the traffic of the town, but could get there in 5 minutes, and were 5 minutes from the horse park on a quiet road. The little house has a twin trundle and a kitchenette and charming, whimsical decor. It had everything we needed.
- Rick (10/5): - A small sofa would have gotten 5 stars throughout for me. Apart from somewhere other than the bed to sit this small cottage was excellent.
- WILLIAM (10/5): Perfect - I was in Lexington for my daughter's graduation from law school. The Frog Hollow B&B was very convenient. Everything about the B&B was first rate from the bed to the food.
