Guest Reviews
- Santi (6/5): - Room is very convenient to all the prime locations. But there are 170 steps to reach the room so not very convenient with luggage . The kitchen light was not working n one of the burner was not working since there were 2 in total it was only one that worked. There was only one pot n one pan for cooking. The bathroom had a strange odor. The sofa bed had a torn sheet. Stating these things since it was considered a 4 star.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mediocre Apartment - The location needs some stairs climbing. The washing machine does not work, which creates inconvenience to our stay.
- Ivar (10/5): - Owner was very helpful from the minute we arrived, to help us store our baggage the day we left. She also gave us good advise for getting the most out of our time in Dubrovnik. All smiles from us.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good apt, with a few issues. - Pros:
- Good location IF you’re okay with lots of steps (138 in total; this was clearly noted in the listing)
- Washing machine.
- Good size, not cramped.
- Good airflow through apt; was able to dry clothes very quickly.
- Quiet at night. We were there on a Sat, Sun and Mon night.
- Good internet connection, though a very weak password.
Cons, some of which are minor:
- Difficulty contacting the owner on arrival. Ended up waiting at the door for 20-30 minutes.
- Awkward kitchen layout: sloped, low ceiling at the side and an exhaust hood that sticks out at head level right beside the sink.
- Shower water temperature is very finicky; alternates between very hot and very cold.
- 2 single beds rather than a double or queen. (I might have just missed that in the posting.)
- Beds are not particularly comfortable.
- No coffee maker, though instant coffee was provided and wasn’t too bad for instant coffee.
- The apt was very dusty on arrival, and microwave tray was dirty.
- Very rough bath towels.
- Noisy early in the morning; some type of bird?
We’d stay again if the price was good.
- Jessica (10/5): - The hosts were wonderful, so kind and full of helpful assistance. Their restaurant was delicious as well. Space accommodated our family of 4 with no issues and the AC worked great.
- Therese (8/5): - Great apartment with wonderful host. Rose was very helpful and checked on us during our stay to make sure all was well. The apartment was close to everything in the walled part of the city. There were four of us, so we needed to use the sofa bed. It was not as comfortable as we would have liked. Overall though, a nice apartment.
- Jennifer (10/5): - It’s a lot of steps but definitely worth it. The owner was very helpful.
- Natalia (10/5): Central location with air conditioning - Great stay and communication. Strong air conditioning which is a plus in the summer. 105 steps up the alley to reach the apartment so not for those with large suitcases or mobility considerations, but worked for us! Very close to everything thank you again!
- Marc (10/5): - The apartment was immaculate and very centrally located.
Although Dubrovnik is very touristy, Rose’s place was quiet and out of the way while being a couple minute walk to anything you wanted to see in Old Town.
Rose herself was a great hostess, very accommodating and helpful.
Would stay here 10 times out if 10 if we were to revisit Dubrovnik.
- Fernando (10/5): - The owner and his wife run the apartments and are very helpful. The also have a restaurant with excellent food at a reasonal price for Dubrovnik. We really recommend them.
- Miguel (8/5): - The management very friendly and helpful to provide infirmation to make our stay more pleaseant. There are lot of restaurants in the area. The drawback is that to get to this property we need to climbe 125 steps
- Abigail (10/5): - This is an excellent location! We were right in the heart of Old Town and able to go to get coffee, meals, all the tourist attractions, and be a part of the action. It was quiet for sleeping. We had our 7 month old baby with us and there was a baby cot provided. Rose and her husband were accommodating, communicative, and so friendly! We also recommend eating at their restaurant if you get a chance. We'll echo other reviews that there are a LOT of stairs to go up and down to get in and out. We are a fit couple and had no issues, but it is a workout if you're not in shape :)
We highly recommend!
- Colleen (2/5): - Stay away from this property. It is 115 stairs up to get to it. I had it booked for 2 separate dates. I hurt my knee dragging my luggage on the stairs on my first stay and am physically unable to haul 60 lbs of luggage to this apartment again. They will not refund my money. They were unresponsive to questions. Obviously only care about the money.
- Shawn (10/5): - There is a bed in the same room as the kitchen which was perfect for our 2 teenagers. Another bed for Mom & Dad in a separate room so perfect for a family of 4. The big kitchen and dining table was great. Air conditioning was nice and cool. The full size fridge was terrific. The tile/stone floors felt cool and clean. Please leave written instructions for the stove top. It was wonderful having a washer but difficult to dry clothes. Also if you are a light sleeper, you can hear the other tourists from the above floor like slamming of the doors, talking. But I’d recommend it for the great location in Old Town and the nice, open interior kitchen.
- Rasko (10/5): Great stay - Apartment was nice and in great shape. Also restaurant recommended by the host (Pero) had great food and reasonable prices (compared to the rest of Dubrovnik)
Strongly recommending these apartments.
One thing to be aware is that there are some steps to cary the bags but almost all apartments in the old town of Dubrovnik require the same.
- Chris (8/5): - In a great location & space was as advertised. Please note the unit is at the top of a large flight of stairs, but nearly unavoidable in Old Town. Some challenges during check-in as the host initially insisted to be called upon arrival, which can be difficult for some international travelers. Overall would highly recommend for anyone staying in the area.
- Kimberly (10/5): - This was the cutest place ever, perfect for our small family and the owners live next door and are very sweet. There is a children's park right next to it. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. Note that it is at the top of some very steep steps within the city walls, so if you have difficulty walking it may not be the best choice for you.
- Maxim (10/5): - We were right inside the Old City walls, so coming back to the apartment between the tours or activities was easy and refreshing. Pero and his wife Ruzha went extra mile to help us with various things. The laundry machine was also very useful to us after a week of travelling on a boat.
- Anja (8/5): - Apartment located in the outer parts of the old city. Quite a walk up the city stairs to get here but it's worth it since the apartment lies close to one of the coozier bars and swimspots.
The apartment is pretty standard, clean and nice and the owner which we met once is very helpful and friendly. Met us on our arrival at 22.30 pm and took her time explaining where the good beaches/shops were despite being highly pregnant and expecting her baby in a few days.
Would stay here again
- Kari (8/5): - Very nice host, good communication and nice and clean flat. But not for people in bad health as there are lots of stairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and very nice people, amazing location, great for a family with kids. Could not have been happier with our choice.
- Roamer (8/5): - Small apartment perfect for 2 people. Since Dubrovnik old town is shaped like a bowl, the apartment is at the topmost level of one of the edges of the bowl up a long flight of stairs, which gives it character and quiet but discourages too many up and down trips. People who may have diffculty in making such a hike should rethink staying in old town
The hosts are great and everything in the apartment works great. This is a good choice for a visit to Dubrovnik
- Alchapis (10/5): - Nice apartment in the center of Old Town Dubrovnik.
Kitchen, tv, living room. Perfect for one week stay.
Be prepared for a lot of steps. No recommend if you aren’t in perfect condition or if you don’t like stairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well, where can I start? We arrived at the Apartment after climbing over 140 stone steps, it is one hell of a climb, so BE PREPARED. Rose (the owner) is a very lovely lady, who will come and meet you at the apartment, show you around and give great advice, about where to eat and visit etc. Also Rose suggested that we should turn left at the top of the steps and walk that way down and up to the apartment as it is a gentler route. ( I cannot express enough staying here is absolutely wonderful, But Old Dubrovnik is built in a valley and Old Dominia is situated at the top) It is a wonderful place to stay close to the two Buza Bars, which are a must at sundown. And everything that you want to visit is within easy access. We found many Jems whilst on our visit, and used our Dubrovnik 7 day card to its fullest advantage. We visited everywhere on the map. Pull it out everywhere you go, if it's not free usually you get a percentage off, including meals. Talking about food, I would recommend Mea Culpa, Bonifide and Cele for great, good value and delicious food, beers and of course service. There are so many things to do and see.I would really recommend the Archaeological Museum, 30 kuna each for entry and there was no one else there, and believe it or not there was a walk along the walls, which opens out to the Pile Gate. We had a fantastic three hours exploring the exhibition. Thank you Rose, Old Dubrovnik for a memorable holiday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and welcoming and the host very hospitable and helpful. We will definitely go back
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A pleasant vomfirtsble apartment with two minuses. The ac is inadequate when it is v hot. Second, too much street noise esp at night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didn’t appreciate getting ripped off by the owners for the cost of a safe that had clearly been broken before we arrived.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location but check in needs improvement - The main pro is the location right in old town but we had difficulty contacting the owner and were lucky to see the cleaning lady who helped us to locate the owner. We had a local phone number but could have helped if we had an email address. Location is great but very steep steps. Toilet was not flushing properly and was not fixed till the end of our stay. Finally pero the owner showed up and helped us with our luggage after we found an email address inside the apartment to contact him.
- Traveler (8/5): - It is within the walls of the old city: excellent location if that is the focus of your visit to Dubrovnik and you won’t mind all the tourists. It is near the top of the walls, so you will walk up many flights of stairs to reach it after you walk into the old city-a problem for anyone with mobility issues or heavy luggage. Be aware your taxi will not be able to get you to the door.
- Alex (10/5): Just close enough but like really being there - This was a great location to spend an evening in Dubrovnik. We were actually there two nights and in two different places. The first night we were in the high traffic area by the fountain. This property is up on the hill. It's a climb but I prefer this location. It's away from the tourist crowds and a good bit more quaint and quiet. The host is great and easy to work with. The beds are comfortable. The AC does it's job. The shower hot and with good pressure. It's nice to have the little washer as well. The wi-fi was very good. We were traveling with our son and the set up was perfect for that. An all around excellent stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic property located within the walls. Super convenient, easy check-in, perfect location! Would stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a unique property -high inside the city walls, up 110 steps to get to it. It was a ground floor apartment with others above it. Noise travelled! We had 3 adults and it felt that was enough people for the size of the place.
- David (10/5): Dubrovnik - First visit to Dubrovnik, the apartment is in a great location away from the crowds. Short distance to old town center. Hosts were wonderful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Central and characterful - As others have described. The steps up to the apartment weren’t problems for me but I can see how that could be an issue for people with large luggage or special access needs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful apartment , the only matter is 121 steps to reach the property , better if no lugage ( big )
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Adam (8/5): - 138 steps up to the apartment! A Major detail if your not a Tri-Athlete!! A nice Old-World space With all the amenities.
- Karen (10/5): - What an amazing experience! It take MANY steps to get to the apartment so be prepared if you have heavy luggage. We loved the experience and the place was fabulous! Our "hosts" were great and helped us figure out tours and places to eat. We had a wonderful time with a lot of great memories!
- Joe (10/5): Great apartment - The owners of this apartment were very friendly and helpful with all of our needs and questions.
The apartment was spacious, clean, felt like home.
- Joyce (10/5): Paradise - Great location, great hosts and beautiful place!
- Carlos (6/5): - Owners are friendly and helpful. Location is very good but to access the property you have to climb 121 steps.
As there is no lobby, the check-in and check-out processes are inconvenient.
the appartment is well equipped, but the furniture is actually older than it looks in the Website.
There is AC only in the living room but not in the bedroom.
- Kristian (10/5): Fantastic cosy apartment and a helpful host - Fantastic cosy apartment in a quiet area of Dubrovnik old town but yet really close to shopping, restaurants and historic buildings. The rooms were clean and it had all the basics for a shorter stay such as a fridge, stove, waterboiler, kitchen table for four, standard size bathroom, wardrobes, tv, sofa and a lot more.
There is only one thing to think of and that is that the closest walk from the north gate is through steep stairs. Walk the picturesque alleys along the city walls from the south side instead and it won’t be any problem.
The host is really kind and helpful. We travelled with three small girls and the host lend us a large box full of toys! That was preciated by our girls after a long day of walking. Best host ever! By the way, there is a small playground next to the apartment.
This is a perfect apartment for a shorter stay regardless if you are a couple, family or friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A unique opportunity in a historical place. - This experience is like no other. We were able to stay inside the walls of the historical town of Dubrovnik. It’s a complete apartment including a washing machine. Our hosts, Pero and his wife, were extremely helpful and friendly. Check in is at their restaurant so make sure to get their address. And you do have to climb stairs! This was our favorite hotel experience in Europe. One we will always treasure!
- Tony (10/5): - Excellent apartment. Clean and well fitted out. The owner, Pero, and his wife were very helpful and pleasant.
