Guest Reviews
- Richard (10/5): - Had a great stay! The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Their warm hospitality really made the experience memorable. Highly recommended!
- Claudine (6/5): - Fantastic staff, very helpful from day 1
Food is excellent
Ideal location to start your walks from
- Rachel (6/5): Hmm - The cleanliness wasn't that great.. Not sure if it gets dusted..? But for what I spent I guess it was average. Probably wouldn't stay here again.
- Katherine (8/5): Pleasant - Pleasant stay, right on a main road so can be a little noisy
- Tim (8/5): - A great location and a decent room for a great price.
- Adam (10/5): - Another great stay. Friendly and helpful staff, great value accommodation and lovely food.
- Mark (10/5): - Great value, lovely evening meal, great location for visiting the Elan Valley and surrounding areas.
- Russell (6/5): - Can’t complain for the price paid but the room and bathroom facilities are extremely dated and resemble 1990. Cigarette burns in the carpet, a broken bathroom light, kettle, tv and wardrobe all covered in a mountain of dust. Zero sound insulation from the pub below and the street outside (the latter to be expected) but extremely noisy when people returned to neighbouring rooms. If you want a good nights sleep. You’d need to look elsewhere. Food at the pub however was very good and staff were kind and pleasant.
- Paul (10/5): - A welcoming, friendly pub with good beer, tasty food and clean, comfortable accommodation.
- james (10/5): - Excellent, right in the centre of town, nice and clean, recommended place to stay..
- Phil (6/5): - I would say this place is relatively inexpensive. Sorry to say that is the only positive thing. I stayed in room no. 1
Starting with the bathroom, the fixtures are quite old and worn. The basin taps were press style which you might normally find in a motorway services or a campsite. When I filled then emptied the basin, some waste water came out of the waste “outlet” in the shower.
The bedroom was okay, but the bed seems to have seen better days. I had to plug the kettle into an extension lead since there wasn’t any reachable sockets nearby where the kettle was located.
This room had double glazed windows which had no effect on quieting the road noise outside.
The last comment was partly my fault for not checking before I booked this place…they don’t serve breakfast onsite.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable bed, lovely staff. - When I arrived the signs through the front door was confusing. I just found my way through to the bar where I spoke to the lovely staff behind the bar. Staff were really nice.
Was shown to my room.
Bed was comfortable, bedding and towels were clean. Carpet and bathroom floor was not clean. Hair on the bathroom floor. Tea and coffee was a welcome addition. Had to move the kettle to boil it though as it didn’t reach the plug. Bathroom could do with some TLC. Just looks a bit grimy. One of the blinds has the thing you twist to close them, missing. Was a bit fiddly to close the blinds.
- Menai (4/5): - The bathroom shower curtains were terribly mouldy. The food was poor - fish undercooked and batter overcooked. Waitress very pleasant however. Bed very comfortable.
- Debra (10/5): - A great place for an overnight stay whilst exploring the elan valley. Clean and comfortable bed plenty of hot water. A lovely evening meal at a good price. Being a lovely sunny weekend the pub was busy and there was a little noise outside but nothing that stopped you sleeping
- Carol (2/5): - Room was very dirty only stayed the one night not the 2 that was paid for. Ordered food in the evening only chicken wings they were black and smelt terrible I did not touch them. Wasn’t asked how the food was or anything. Overall very disappointing
- Mark (10/5): - Clean and tidy although a little tired looking
And no hair dryer
- Stephen (10/5): - Staff really helpful, accommodation great and very convenient for Trans-Cambrian MTB route.
- Keith (4/5): - The property clean, but no breakfast included
- Desmond (8/5): - A convenient location to visit Rhyader and the kite feeding.
Staff and service were very good but it would have been useful to include parking information in the preliminary information as there is no parking on site. The room and facilities were adequate, good value, but a bit of redecoration in the shower room is needed. The road was very noisy with heavy lorries from late at night and early morning.
- Philip (8/5): - Good clean room with en-suite
- karen (2/5): - Here for filming. Extremely dissatisfied. The floor was so noisy it dipped at loades of points making you feel like you was going to fall through the floor and with a 5 month old that’s not a great feelings. First morning of going to work the hot water wasn’t working so had to wash with freezing cold water. Complained and was promised for it to be working. Fair play I came home after working and the heating and water was piping hot. So waited until the morning to shower again before working. To my dis belief it was freezing cold yet again. No one around to complain to this time so had to go to work having washed my hair in freezing cold water. In desperate need of a makeover or I’m not used to these type of places. It was big and enough random beds to sleep atleast 5 people. Front door was extremely stiff. Food downstairs only served at random times (hard to get used to if coming from London) and the whole town closes down at 9pm. Look outside at 9.30pm and it’s like a ghost town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect night sleep - Was a perfect night stay even though i got there around 10pm so did not have food.
- Boyd (8/5): - in the town centre
- Janice (2/5): Very noisy - The room was clean and tidy. But i didnt get any peace what so ever as the noise from the pub downstairs was horrendous. Other guests shouting, singing and banging doors until the early hours. Hallway lights shinning through into bedroom on and off all night. It was a nightmare and as a lone female traveller i was quite disturbed and upset.
- Lenna (10/5): - Exactly what we needed for our weekend stay. Lovely room, private access, amenities close by.
- David (8/5): - It was a quaint old pub building with lots of character but access was a little tricky with very steep narrow stairs.
