Lauren (8/5): - We (group of 3, F32, M39, M33) stayed at peak ecostays for 4 nights in late October 2025, and loved it. About us: We're a pretty easy-going group of friends who spend a lot of time camping, walking, and birdwatching. We're visiting from the UK and are used to spending time off-grid. About the stay: We all thought the place was lovely, and found the owner, Greg, to be fun and accommodating. We stayed in the room with 3 single beds, which had AC in the daytime, a fridge, and bathroom with shower. The location was great for all the activities we wanted to do north of the river during our stay, which included going to places including the discovery centre (7mins drive), and the madja boardwalk (15 mins drive). We even saw a cassowary with chicks around 5 mins drive north of the accommodation! Of the 4 nights, we had dinner at Gregs place on 2 of the evenings (second and last), and went out to local restaurants the other 2 nights. The evening's dinner plans were decided around breakfastime, with everyone having the same meal, which worked well for us - we found Gregs cooking to be homely, tasty and filling. We spent the evenings playing pool and looking for wildlife (loved the fireflies nearby!). The venue sells alcohol and has a beer/wine fridge with reasonable prices. We liked the breakfasts too - we had fruit, and toast with eggs, and coffee each morning. Overall, we thought the accommodation was good value, uncomplicated, and would stay here again. Due to the off-grid nature of the venue, we were requested not to use the AC at night. However, being from the UK we are really not used to it being over 20deg celsius at night, so found it too warm to sleep comfortably in most nights. Also, the pool was only available to use during the daytime (I think 10am-4pm?) which were the times that we were mostly out and about exploring elsewhere, so we didnt get much use of this.

Steven (4/5): - First the good points. The property is in a very picturesque location. The grounds are inviting. The area is quiet. The bed was comfortable. Now the not so good. Our stay was a birthday treat for my wife. The price we paid was excessive given that the accomodation is basically similar to a cabin in a caravan park. There is a sign on the door saying guests are not permitted to eat in their rooms and must eat at the cafe, but the cafe wasn’t operating. Supposedly there should have been complementary toiletries, but liquid soap is all you get. Certainly not value for money.

Wen-hao (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed in Greg’s property for 1 night in Oct., 2024. Greg was a very nice and welcoming host, and the lodge was clean. The breakfast was also great! Some of the facilities (e.g. the fridge in our lodge) isn’t fully working due to cyclone Jasper’s damage. However, it was totally understandable as the entire area hasn’t fully recovered from the damage yet, and Greg did his best to make things as comfortable as possible. The free WiFi in room was working and was in reasonable speed. We highly recommend staying in Greg’s property when visiting Daintree / Diwan area!
nancy (10/5): - We had a great stay. George the owner is very proud of his property and showed us all around his gardens. The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. Very convenient to Daintree Discovery Center. All damage from the December 2023 “extreme rain event” have been repaired. Don’t hesitate to book. You can have breakfast and dinner at the hotel cafe. Otherwise, there are very limited restaurant options, and no markets nearby, so stock up before you get on the ferry, either at Mossman or Port Douglas.

Pelayo (10/5): Unique - Wonderful stay. Greg cooked us a dinner which made me re-think if I was in my granny’s house. Extraordinary location. Greg has everything you need. Pool table, interesting stories, cold beers and delicious food. Absolutely intend to go back someday. Energy comes from solar and batteries, fully renewable. It is a place I’d fully recommend 10/10 stay for all ages and interests.

It was really easy to get to all the tourist attractions, and to amazing beautiful deserted beaches. Our cabin was really comfortable with everything we needed. Stephanie (7/5): Mixed feelings. Clean, friendly but something off. - The owners are lovely. Friendly, outgoing and helpful. The cabin is nice, exceptionally clean. They helped us by freezing our cooler ice molds. The included breakfast was a huge bowl of delicious fruit, some homegrown. We also were offered coffee, tea, eggs, toast, avocados. They sent us off with a homegrown Pomelo. Greg and Luisa are very nice & interesting people. Policies. So there are several cabins. We were the only guests. The property website has listed as a feature of kitchenette. When I spoke to Greg on the phone he asked if we would be having dinner. I had no idea of what that would be, and the price listed on booking.com was I believe 32.00. I said no. (The way we travel full time is not in our budget to eat “out” daily). Upon arrival, I see a sign posted at every cabin saying No eating in the rooms. They are a licensed cafe. Huh? Advertising a kitchenette and then basically telling you are only allowed to make coffee in your room. The refrigerator is a wine type chiller. No freezer. Also, the dining area nice but no outside alcohol allowed, it’s posted there. So no socializing unless you’re buying drinks or dinner. They ARE lovely people whom we enjoyed talking with but, I feel these policies should st least be disclosed prior to booking. I felt the value was not there, our most expensive 2 nights accommodation in Australia including Downtown Brisbane.

Shelli (10/5): - Under the circumstances with our stay being post cyclone Jasper, we were very pleased with accommodation being a safe, secure, well maintained in a beautiful location in Daintree. Our host, Greg, was knowledgeable, accommodating and served us substantial meals twice a day. We enjoyed listening to his various, adventurous life experiences.He took us for a walk on the property, where he is growing various types of tropical fruit which we were able to pick and eat. There is fresh water pool that was available to cool off and protect us from the elements with a covered roof and netting to keep out any unwanted critters. Everything on this property has been build incredibly solid! When we were in a pinch to get to the Daintree river, as we did not have a vehicle, he offered us a ride there. It is definitely best to have be independent with a vehicle at this location. Thank you for an excellent stay. It was one of our highlights visiting this area in Australia.
Judea (9/5): We had a great stay with Greg who added some interesting and colorful character to our experience in the Daintree - Greg has done a great job to make his accommodations completely off the grid and eco sustainable. The cabins are well appointed, roomy, and very comfortable. There is a large community area with a billiards table and swimming pool. Food and beverage is also available on site which is very convenient in this rural, yet exquisitely beautiful part of the country. We enjoyed listening to Greg’s stories about his varied adventures abroad as well as appreciated his skills in the kitchen- providing delicious meals with generous portions. The property is in a good location if you want to visit the Daintree Discovery Center and go to Cape Tribulation for snorkeling and other exploration. The cabins are in an open area and get plenty of light- which is great, especially during the rainy season.

Paul (9/5): Rainforest central. - Totally off the grid for power and water, both of which have been successfully developed to cope well for the requirements of guests. The 4 cabins are well designed and built, providing privacy and a lovely outlook to the rainforest which rises up the mountains beyond in full view. Ideally located (centrally?) to enable ready access further up to Cape Tribulation, some wonderful rainforest and beach walks.

Carl (3/5): Memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. - The breakfast was grudgingly supplied, and it seemed the “chef” didn’t know how to make toast. The fruit salad was good. The location was kilometres from any attraction and we could not recommend eating on-site. We had one dinner sitting in the dark, because “light attracts the critters.” The venue was poorly laid out, poorly landscaped, and even the lap-pool was uninviting being locked in a cage. The host seemed to have no concept of hospitality, and it seemed to us we were almost a bother to him. When asked about local attractions our host was simply dismissive of our enquires. However, the cabins were clean, but unfriendly and utterly spartan.

Maurice (9/5): very comfortable and pleasant stay - The two bedroom apartment was very large and fully equipped for self-catering. It is in the centre of Yungaburra with easy access everywhere. Diz, the owner, was extremely helpful, carrying our luggage and doing of laundry free of charge. Note that the apartment is on the third floor and accessible only by steps. Diz carried up our luggage and brought it down to the car.

Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice bungalows in a green and nice garden. There is also a pool and a nice terrasse for breakfast. The owners are very friedly and helpful. They have also a café with very good food for lunch and dinner. It was the cleanest accomodation we had during our nine weeks stay in Australia.
Anonymous (6/5): - After a not so straight forwards check in I was shown to my superior chalet. It was everything the website showed. I was extremely pleased. After 1.5hrs I was informed by the owner that he had checked me into the wrong room and had to move me into another room very similar to the one I was in. This was not the case. The room I was moved to was much smaller and had a single bed. I complained to Expedia who I turn spoke to the owner. As the chalets were all full so was the surrounding accommodations. Being August this did not surprise me. To cut a long story short, Expedia promised me a $100 refund (which I have never seen) and it was agreed that I would move the next day into one of the chalets. Unfortunately this chalet did not have a queen bed but 2 single beds. I did get a refund for the 1st night from the owner but the whole escaped put a dampener on the stay. Would I recommend this place? If it was under new management I would. The whole concept of the eco chalets is a great thing.
Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed underwhelming - It looks like you're driving into someone's back yard. The rooms are facing the main house. The aircon rattles the walls & keeps you awake (sounds like a generator is running beside the room). No coffee cups or glasses in the room. The owner was rude we booked for 2 nights & only stayed 1. On a positive note the room was neat & clean.

Chris (4/5): - We had booked to stay here after reading the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately the man we spoke to on arrival, presumably the owner, was unwelcoming and disagreeable. We were also disappointed by the location and facilities. We decided not to stay and continued to Cape Tribulation.

We did on the assumption we would recieve a refund when the issue was sorted out. Since then the manager has denied payment was recieved (even though I can show the funds coming out of my account) and refuses to respond to me. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Peter (8/5): Near brand new cabins inside Daintree forest - Nicely build accommodation in an ancient forest. Tasteful dinner and nice and quite sleeps.
Heather (10/5): - Myself and a friend recently spent three nights at Daintree Peaks ECO Stays. We were made very welcome by the very friendly hosts, Shannon and Greg. Shannon cooked and served us such delicious breakfasts each morning of our stay; breakfast being included in the very reasonable accommodation cost. Dinner menu was excellent and I highly recommend the pork cutlet meal, most delicious pork I have ever eaten. The new ECO friendly cottage style accommodation was very clean and comfortable; garden and grounds tidy and very well maintained, with picturesque Mountain View’s. And as a bonus there was a communal lounge / dining area where guests can relax and socialize. The property also has a lovely screened undercover pool available for guests to use. Don’t go past Daintree Peaks ECO Stays on your next visit to the Daintree - a great place to stay, or, if only in the Daintree for a day trip, a great place to visit for one of Shannon’s delicious meals.
