- Louise (10/5): - Our 2nd time staying and we thought we couldn't get a better lodge than last time but this one was even more amazing.
Very switched off so lovely to unwind and read a book and swim in the sea on the deserted beach.
Hope to be back again next year. The food is not amazing. The pizzas in the beach hut are really good. There is another more rustic resort around the bay that does really good food at reasonable prices but dont go too late as it gets very dark and if the tide comes up when your walking back it can be tricky.

- Sarah (10/5): Fabulous resort where 90% + of the staff are local islanders. We can’t wait to return! - Amazing location, fantastic team of mainly local people working at the resort. Wonderful food & beautiful Baans & beaches, simply perfect!! Nothing!

- Sara (10/5): - Alles was fantastisch!
- Silvia (9/5): Superb - Special place, fresh delicious food everyday out of the touristic routes, incredibly well kept, immersed in nature.
- Stan (9/5): A rare and simple island life, surrounded by nature and sea - The islands natural splendour, the beautiful wooden houses and peaceful atmosphere. Probably one of the last remaining islands in Thailand that remains unspoilt. Make sure to bring enough sunscreen.
- Marie Josée (8/5): - The premises are very clean and beautiful. You are immersed in full nature. The food was always delicious. They could better organize the beach with sun loungers and sun umbrellas. It is a place to rest and reset. Loved the yoga/qigong with Alisa. Staff is always nice and friendly, except i had an issue with Teresa unfortunately. In the end all solved. I recommend this place if you need a break and disconnect but know that cockroaches, geckos, monkeys also live there. Plan for extras for boat and transport which is expensive for Thailand.

- Richard (10/5): Delighted with Baba Eco Lodge. - Stop nine in our three week itinerary in this small part of Thailand. They have all been good but Baba has been by far the most visually stunning and we have loved it here. Our well built traditional style lodge, Baan Chang, looked straight onto the delectable Long Beach. Rarely more than half a dozen people visible on its whole length. Perfect for the sunsets, great for swimming. Comfortable, secluded balcony on the first-floor living area. Shaded open sitting area below. Attractively furnished with a big comfy bed and a perfectly fitting net. Semi open construction meant no need for a/c. And what a view!
From the rear, turn right and it’s less than 10 minutes to the Club-House / restaurant, or the same distance along the beach.
Turn left and in less than five minutes you’re at the beach bar / snack restaurant in the sheltered shallow waters of the bay. Perfect for children.
Exceptionally good pre-arrival communication with the talented and multilingual Theresa and her welcoming islander colleagues. Everything very well organised, cared for and sustainable. Be aware that this is more a luxury Robinson Crusoe experience than a multi star hotel, albeit one with plenty of extras available (eg free kayak and snorkel loan, tours, massage), but this is exactly what we were hoping for.
We were delighted with Baba Eco Lodge! It was all good.
- Łukasz (10/5): I highly recommend this resort, it’s unforgettable experience on an exotic island and you can feel like in paradise! - Staying in BABA Ecolodge is an amazing EXPERIENCE.
Every house is unique, we had a pleasure to stay in the „Sea Blue 1” for 5 days - together with my fiancée. The hut was truly beautiful. Very comfortable bed, a lot of space in wardrobes, bathroom outside in the open air and the balcony with the best sea view that you can imagine!
The whole resort is basically in the jungle and you can admire the beauty of nature on every step.
Restaurant is in the stylish colognal building and the breakfast served is truly exceptional.
The beach is very long with a golden sand, you can see a few kilometers of it with literally no people for the most of the time.
There’s also a bay with a beach bar, beach loungers, water equipment and calmer water with smaller waves.
There’s an option to take a kayak and have a trip into a mangrove canal for about 30 min one way, which was very nice as we love kayaking and the surroundings was really exotic.
All the staff in the resort is really nice and helpful. The manager Theresa was very kind and responsive prior to our arrival, during the check-in she gave us a long explanation about the resort and the welcome tour to show everything. Also, you can find a very comprehensive guide in your apartment, with a lot of useful information and describing the mission of the resort.
There’s a small library that you can use and borrow a book - several languages available.
Last but not least, I took 90 min Thai massage (1,400 THB), that was probably the best massage that I’ve ever had, not only during this 3-weeks trip, but in my entire life (and I had probably something like 100+ of them). After the 1st one I immediately booked another for two days later. Disclaimer: those wasn’t issues for us, but I listed a few things to consider when booking such an experience.
This is an exotic island, so there are some things related to it, obviously:
- you can encounter animals; not only beautiful birds, curious monkeys or a resorts’ cats and dogs, but also bats, lizards and we had in the rooms 3-4 times cockroaches (they are totally harmless and not present because of filth, but just because you are in the jungle);
- there are some mosquitoes and sand flies, but for 5 days we were bitten just a few times, it was no bother for us at all;
- there’s no AC in the room, but fans, which were definitely enough;
- the wifi (good one) is available in the reception only, not in rooms and there’s almost no reception on the island (also not a big deal).
Basically the only option to get to the island is to take a long boat transport arranged by the resort, which is 2,100 THB one way. Personally I would prefer to pay a little bit more for the booking and get the boat transport included than book not so cheap hotel and then realize that there’s additional 4,200 THB that I need to reserve for the transfer.
The food in restaurant is very delicious but a bit more expensive that average in Thailand. On the other hand everything is prepared from the local and organic ingredients so it’s understandable.
The outdoor bathroom was great, only downside was the shower height - it had about 170 cm and no regulation so it was a bit uncomfortable for use.
- Mayvika (10/5): Will definitely be coming back with our dogs. Such a lovely resort. - Super close to nature, the staff was welcoming, food delicious, pet company top notch. Cannot recommend this place enough for those that was to decompress and slow down. Very impressed with the eco friendliness, we didn't see any single use plastic. LOVE! Nothing! The froggy companies were intimidating at first but we became friends.
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Nathan (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (10/5): Wonderful paradise you will fibd hard to beat in Thailand. - This is a unique and very special place.
Yes, it is not the easiest place to get to, but the best places never are, and BABA can organise everything.
We had stayed in Phuket the night before. BABA sent a driver to pick us up and take us to the pier. Once we got to the pier, the Long Tail they organised was waiting for the 75 minutes ride between the islands and mangroves.
As we approached the resort, BABA staff could be seen driving across the beach, waving, to meet up.
BABA is spread out across a long stretch of perfect (and empty) beach.
Accommodation is along the stretch, with individual buildings on stilts.
Each building is different, but all have balconies, with loads of room and situated in the lush jungle. You can hardly see your neighbours through the trees.
A sand path runs through the jungle with paths to each accommodation leading off.
At one end of the path is their beach bar and Yoga, at the other end is their reception, restaurant and massage.
It is a 10-15 minute walk between them (this place really is spaced out).
All food is fresh, the menus change every day, and tastes fantastic.
So should you come….
It is paradise, unspoiled like Thailand used to be. Miles of empty perfect beach, wonderful water, unbelievable food. Each lodge is large and comfortable
It is also in the jungle, and monkeys will wake you up (which is fab), but if you want a City Hilton, this is not your place. If you would like wonderful paradise and don’t mind sleeping under the provided mosquito nets, this is your perfect(actually not many mosquitoes or bugs but it is jungle).
We left a little of our heart there when we left, so unique, we miss it. For us, it was ideal. The location, property and staff are wonderful, so just can’t think of anything.
- Louise (5/5): Passable - Stunning secluded beaches, beautiful views and sunsets, great yoga and friendly staff Food and drinks are overpriced and not close to the usual quality in Thailand. The price for accommodation does not match the comfort. It’s not value for money.
- Melany (10/5): Beautiful location with wonderful food, activities and kind helpful staff. -
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (9/5): Incredible place to totally unwind - remote yet luxurious - Location was spectacular - so remote and perfect. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was really good.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect getaway - We loved everything about Baba Ecolodge! And can't wait to return! Perfect location, food was excellent, plenty to do if you like hiking and snorkeling and kayaking. I loved how quiet and low key it was. I especially loved listening to the ocean as I fell asleep at night.
- Ciaran (9/5): Superb -
- Kirsty (8/5): Very relaxing but journey there was very long especially if staying only a few days. - It was very relaxing. Few lunch options. Having to book spa treatments or jeep tours well in advance as not much availability. Not nearly enough sun beds on the beach.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raphael (10/5): Exceptional - Most likely this is how Thailand used to be before the mass tourism!
Remote island with stunning empty beaches, only a few scattered huts and even a tiny bit of wildlife.
We were in love with this place from the very first minute and enjoyed every single one from there on.
We like the concept of different unique cottages and were very happy with the one we got.
The common areas have so much detail and are a pure joy for the eye. Very friendly and helpful personnel, tasty and rich breakfast, nice food/drinks menu in general and relaxing massages.
We found the prices very reasonable for a self independent high-level resort on a remote island (in average a main dish incl. rice for 250-300BHT, I mean we are talking about 7-8€). We were also very satisfied with the quality that we got. It was no problem to share the longtail boat and its costs with other guests. Personally we’d rather pay a bit more to enjoy the remoteness and solitude than to participate from Economies of scale, save 10€ and sit in an overcrowded boat to spend time in an overcrowded place.
Thank you again for everything, we will definitely return!
- Gypsy15 (7/5): The resort is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY - it would be perfect if it was an Adults only wellness resort - The location is incredibly remote, and rough and rugged, the beach and bay are gorgeous. A very Robinson Crusoe type experience. Our bungalow was interesting and spacious, unfortunately, not very private once the shutters are opened for light and air, anyone can look in. The mosquito net is much appreciated.
The dining hall is unique and very beautiful. The breakfast omelet is superb.
The yoga pavilion facing the bay and daily classes with Alisa are special.
Upon arrival it feels like the ideal place to relax, meditate and disconnect, and we wanted that so badly, however... The resort is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY yet it attracts multiple European families with screaming toddlers and terribly behaved children that run around screaming, banging the shutter doors, pounding on the mezzanine floor, wetting the other guests and their shoes with the hosepipe and being an absolute nuisance for hours non-stop, the products of completely aloof, inconsiderate and selfish parents, these children ruin the peace and overall experience for everyone else. As soon as one family with brats leaves, another worse family arrives.
The resort is really in the heart of nature, so there is NOTHING for children to do there at all, so they are bored, restless, irritable and basically uncomfortable, and the parents just don't care, they want a holiday and let the kids run wild - there is only the wide beach, bay and the sea, No swimming pools, no loungers, no beach umbrellas provided, nothing, no comfort and no recreation at all, not for the children nor for the adults - you are either on the beach all day or in your bungalow - there is not much else on offer, and it can be harsh in that heat and humidity. Especially at midday.
The restaurant is very limited with a small daily menu and not very good. And expensive. I got food poisoning from the fish dinner and it was bad, especially as we were so isolated and far from any medical assistance.
The manager is pleasant but the local staff are not very friendly. However, if you go the restaurant at the neighboring Moken Eco Village, then for half the price you get the friendliest most welcoming staff, and a multi-page menu that did not let us down. You just have to watch out for the tide, so you may not be able to visit that often.
The spa is just an open air massage pavilion, and the experience was very poor, perhaps the worst massage during the whole trip. The large blue refillable water bottle in our room was gross, and I did not trust the water that was being refilled - I did not drink it.
- Nir (9/5): Superb -
- Martrou (9/5): The location and personnel are wonderful. Will come back for sure 👌 -
- Sofiya (10/5): - Awesome eco village in the wilderness but with everything you need for your stay.
The restaurant was exceptional and all the staff is super friendly & helpful.
I also had thai massage with herbs, which was fantastic & the morning yoga class was good too. I think, we might be back!
- Alina (8/5): Very good - - Solitude & tranquility. We rarely saw anybody walking along the 11 km shoreline of the beach or swimming during sunset (and sunsets are mind-blowing). That was unbelievably beautiful! The sand is soft and apparently made of crushed seashells, and still intact various colourful seashells are laying around to be admired.
- Nature. Did you know there is savannah in Thailand? There is, and a small patch of savannah could be visited on the island. Are you interested in bird-watching? There are eagles, kites, storks flying high up in the sky and hornbills awkwardly jumping between palms and pine-trees here. All this diversity could be explored with binoculars and support of a helpful guide. Mangroves? Sure, go ahead, borrow a kayak and move deeper into the island via river during the high tide. Did neighbouring small islands catch your attention? Again, make the most out of the high tide, borrow a kayak and snorkeling equipment and take a small trip into the sea. The islands suggest even more cozy atmosphere: not a soul on the beach, only hermit crabs running away, lots of seashells, giant palms, interesting looking rocks and a coral reef nearby.
- Night sky. There is an absolute 0 of light pollution in sight, only fishing boats glowing far away on the horizon. As a result, stars are shining exceptionally bright. Neck hurts from constantly looking up, but it's worth it.
- Traditional Thai massage was wonderful! The option with oil could be just ignored (you won't miss much). - Food is rather ordinary. Traveling around Thailand sets up the bar quite high, so I was anticipating something more exceptional and local. It is ok if "Western" cuisine is performed poorly, because all in all we are on a remote island in Thailand. However, even though Thai dishes were good and tasty -- they could have been more special. The same could be said about the cocktails.
- There is little information provided in advance regarding a particular villa that you are going to stay at. As a result, some things come up as a complete surprise when you check in. Okay, an outdoor shower is predictable. But not scarcity of warm/hot water :( A total game changer was absence of solid walls, which ensured our villa being very very welcoming for insects during the dark hours of the day. Mosquitos and giant beetles could easily access interior space through innumerous cutouts in the wooden panels of facades. "Living close to nature" stopped seeming romantic quite fast. SO! Ask more info about your particular villa after booking! Remember to mention WALLS amongst additional requests! Islander-insects are no joke.
- Snorkeling experience could be enhanced if you bring your own equipment.
- Nico (10/5): Perfect get-away - Beautiful location and resort on an (almost) empty island. We loved every minute of our stay and would return in a blink. The appartments (huts) were super cool and unique, with a lot of small details. When we mentioned that the bed was a little to hard for our likeing, we immediatly got a topper. Also the beach was a dream Everything was perfect
- Christopher (10/5): Unique experience in a beautiful location. - Location. Staff. Eco ethos. Nothing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful site and concept. Beautiful beach, very friendly staff and great villa
