The hotel is lovely, a beautiful restored building with comfortable sitting areas indoor and outdoor and very comfortable rooms. Breakfast was excellent and included fresh fruit, yoghurt, scrambled eggs, breads, and pasta de nata to finish!! Filomena, Joshi and the team were extremely welcoming and helpful looking after all our needs including serving coffee during the day and providing a sun parasol and towels for the beach. The Honesty bar was very good.

Parking in narrow street outside a little tricky and for anyone with mobility issues, steep staircase to get to Rooms and breakfast area.

Couldn’t close it due to broken hinge. And bottom of door was swollen due to water damage. Additionally, the Shower drain cover plate is not attached to floor and the small dresser drawers are broken, won’t close.

Staff was friendly and breakfasts were good. AC in our room worked perfectly and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately they do not run the AC in the common areas and we were there during a heat wave, So we couldn't enjoy the parlor room. Run AC in common areas on hot days.

They also arranged an earlier breakfast on our last day. Cold room (December) and heater was too far from the bed. Bedroom ceiling rather low.

Location is very close to the main area and it’s a quiet neighbourhood. The interior in our room was a little bit old. The bar fridge which was next to our bed was quite loud.

The staff were excellent and welcoming, especially Filimena. The coffee machine in the room was good but we like tea first thing and a kettle was easily provided. Lack of garden but we knew this before going. The sun terrace is a nice alternative.

• Gillian (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in a small boutique style hotel. - Very central location - very short walk into the centre of Tavira. Filomena (manageress) was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Young man who served breakfast also very friendly and polite. Lovely decor in the lounge area. Rooftop terrace was a nice quiet place to relax in the sun. Nothing to dislike really. As our room was on the ground floor it just looked out on the street so no view but that wasn’t a problem. One thing that could be improved in the bedroom would be to put up some artwork on the walls which were very bare. Could be an opportunity to showcase local artists.

The room was spacious and clean with goof facilities and a large comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. The honesty bar was good. Beach towels were provided on request. The location is very convenient, close to the centre of town and many good restaurants. It was also quiet. Nothing!

The location is very convenient for the main square, supermarket and station. Our room was on the ground floor and the hotel is situated in a very quiet road so free of traffic noise. The staff were exceptional in their care of the clients needs. Especially Philamenia who goes out of her way to ensure that everybody is happy. I, myself, had an accident, not in the hotel, and she was very attentive to my needs. The main staircase is rather steep but very doable with handrails

The house itself is beautiful, and our room was spotless, quiet, and very comfortable. The location couldn’t be better — everything in Tavira is just a short walk away. Breakfast was outstanding — generous, delicious, and the perfect way to start each day. Filomena, our host, was wonderful — friendly, welcoming, and always quick to communicate. She truly made us feel at home. Her staff, especially Joseph, went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Of all our accommodations in Portugal, Tavira House was our favorite. It made our visit to Tavira truly special, and we would return in a heartbeat! We liked everything!

• Kent (10/5): A gem! - Located in the Old Town, the establishment is centrally located to shops and restaurants, as well as the ferry. The breakfast was outstanding, offering a substantial menu.
• Sally (10/5): A beautiful place for an interesting few days in Tavira - Absolutely beautiful gem of a small boutique hotel. The service from Filomena and her team was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The old building was charming and had beautiful modern design features. It was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was also excellent. No issues at all - but be warned there are lots of old slightly uneven steps between levels to get around the public spaces.

• Phil (10/5): Warm and welcoming hotel worth your stay - Welcoming chic place 5 mins stroll from the river and town centre. Step through the front door to a surprisingly elegant reception and lounge. There’s an honesty bar and a roof terrace with views over the town. We stayed in Bougainvillia a double room on the first floor. The bathroom was large with a double walk in shower and wonderfully large soft towels. The bedroom had a hush quiet ac unit and a balcony overlooking the quiet street. Breakfast is a tasty continental and you won’t go hungry. Best of all are the people there. Philomena and Joshi are warm and welcoming to everyone. Go yourself and find out. Only downside is parking. The street is one way and narrow and we managed to park close to the entrance. Put your wing mirrors in and you will be fine - there’s little traffic and everyone drives slowly.
