• JohnPaul (10/5): - Good location. It's just unfortunate that the area is a bit dead after the volcano explosion. The place is very spacious. There was more than enough room for eight people and there only three of us. Laundry facility would have been nice since there is none in the area. Overall it was a good lodging. Would book again given the chance.

• Svetlana (10/5): - 10 min drive to Blue Lagoon. Easy to find; convenient parking in front of your door. It was my first stay in a guesthouse with a shared bathroom, but there was no need to worry - there were there spotless units complete with showers for two rooms, so there was no issue. The kitchen was excellent, with the full-size fridge and all the amenities. The bed was comfortable, and the room well-ventilated and quiet. I would definitely stay there again!
• Jennifer (10/5): Perfect for a layover stay! - We had a brief stay, with a layover in Reykjanes. The beds were comfy and it was easy to find from the airport! We stopped at the nearby bakery for breakfast before a visit to the Blue Lagoon and back to the airport. Communication from the owner was fantastic and quick! We arrived late and left early, but they made it easy for us! I would stay again!

The guesthouse is next to a restaurant which is very convenient, we didn’t have time to try it but it seemed very popular. The town is very quiet, makes for a nice walk.

Abandoned town yet beautiful. Close to the ocean hence walkable. The adjacent restaurant serves delicious food and plays great music. CONs: Located in an abandoned town due to an active volcano. Town smells like lava which is tolerable though. Becomes really quiet and lonesome at night which could appear scary and eerie to tourists. About a 25 minutes taxi ride from KEF airport.

• Jennifer (4/5): - The property is situated in a town that has been abandoned due to the presence of an active volcano. As a result, the area is now a ghost town with no available amenities, and it feels unsafe to stay there given that all former residents have relocated. Additionally, the property's layout is unconventional, as it involves sharing an apartment with another family. While I have stayed in various hostels before, this particular arrangement felt uncomfortable and did not meet my expectations.

• David (10/5): A good option to Keflavik. - We were in room 1 - it was very large. Two sofas three bedrooms three bathrooms and a large kitchen. The warm air hit us as we walked in the door - very nice. No awful sprays or other bad odors. It was just what we needed including a washing machine to clean the baby clothes. I recommend staying here. It is a very practical and comfortable place. Papa’s pizzas and fish and chips is near and has good food. Other sights are close by and not busy.

• Julie (6/5): Spacious but basic converted commercial space - This guesthouse is in a converted storefront, which means it has a lot of space, which is great, but is also a bit awkward (for example, the the massive open shower in one of the bathrooms) and rather shabby (e.g. broken drawer in the kitchen, holes in the bedsheets). It was rather disappointing for the relatively high price and the owners/management are hard to get a response from about questions. It is in easy reach of the airport and the Blue Lagoon, but the town of Grindavik itself is rather gritty.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Basic but adequate - The place is clean and adequate for a one night stay before heading to the airport. Communication is all done through email and the hosts seemed nice and respond quickly, but you will never see them and they are not present at the hotel. The hotel is listed with 3 stars. Personally, I think that's a little generous. There was body wash and shampoo in only one of the three shared bathrooms. The pillows were so lumpy and should absolutely be replaced. Instructions are left indicating to put your towels in the laundry basket and to wash/dry/put away any dishes that were used during your stay. It had the feel of a hostel rather than a hotel. Maybe this is normal for Iceland, but I think future guests should be aware when booking.
• Rachel (10/5): - Our family stayed one night as we were coming back from visiting the southern part of Iceland. The area is quiet and beautiful and the beds were comfy.
• Christopher (8/5): - The room is certainly great for the price. Lots of room, clean, right in the heart of Grindavik. Walkable to the shore and to most of the town. My only critique was the communication. There is no front desk and email was a bit spotty as I had limited Wi-Fi being an international traveler. As I was not traveling by car and had to rely on the limited bus schedule, it was hard for me to time my arrival for the strict check in and check out times. That is usually not an issue if bag storage is an option, but it did not seem to be. I had to hang around the spot next door for 2 hours waiting for check-in instructions instead of exploring the town. I want to emphasize that this was a minor setback in an otherwise fine stay. The room was everything I needed and certainly worth the price.

• Jeffrey (8/5): - This is dorm style sleeping arrangement with a functioning and well equipped kitchen. One bathroom. Very close to Blue Lagoon, just 20 minutes from the airport. Restaurant/bar next door. Grocery store less than 5 minute drive away. My family of 6 stayed here because it was cheaper than other options; there was nothing spectacular about the place, but I don't have any complaints either. I'd stay here again.

Check in was difficult because our phones didnt work, email didnt get responded to until hours later and we werent told manager was in apt. #5 so we could knock on door. Quiet hours were not observed, partying until 2am.

The location was very convenient to both the Blue Lagoon and the hike to the volcano. The airport was about 30 minutes to the airport. We all agreed we would stay there again

• Sergei (10/5): Great getaway to a volcano - Thanks for accommodating our early check-in request,- after our red-eye flight this made our day! This place looks like refurbished storefront and that means it is very spacious! Very clean, with kitchenette and next door to a Fish House restaurant with a whale bone in front of it, 10 min or less drive to a parking for a trail to Volcano. Town of Grindavik is near airport, on the way to it you pass the Blue Lagoon and you can have a glimpse at it. Netto suopermarket is well stoked and people are friendly and helpful here.

The occupiers from the other family room said they’re from New York, but apparently they’re originally from Mainland China. They have the extremely annoying habit of not flushing the toilet. Early in the morning I went into a toilet seeing (and smelling, of course) un-flushed feces! Wow what “New-Yorkers”! The rooms are very basic! Absolutely no frills, but charged at five-star prices. The curtains leaked light, which affected me badly as I slept on the bed closest to the window. Fortunately, it was only a sleepover place for my journey. I soon forgot about the rather unpleasant memory overall (and recalled it only upon prompting to write a review).

• Verified traveler (10/5): Can't beat the price for the comfort - The place was extremely clean and had all the necessities for a wonderful weekend trip to Iceland! Check in and check out was very easy. The rooms are very functional and the mattresses were more comfortable here than some nicer hotels I have stayed in. While the bathrooms are shared, there are multiple and each equipped with toilet, shower, and sink. More than this, they were always clean and there was never was a wait to use them. It was nice there was a fridge and microwave available for use. As it is recommended in most places in Iceland, having a car was most definitely useful as it does not seem there is much public transportation in the area. The location is in close proximity to the Blue Lagoon, as well at sightseeing spots like "The Bridge Between Two Continents". Lastly, the price-point of this location is extremely fair for what is provided. My two friends and I enjoyed our trip and feel like we stayed in the perfect location. We recommend for anyone on a budget looking for a more than comfortable place to stay.
• PhilipW (4/5): - There are 6 beds to a room and so the property offers good value for money. However for my family it did not suit us. Main reason being that after getting up very early to get the flight we wanted to get an early night. However: the light in our room was also on the same switch as the lounge / eating area and so when the Spanish guys in the next room arrived, somebody had to be in darkness. Two of the duvets smelled as if they had not been cleaned properly and the pictures suggest that there is a cooking hob when there is only a microwave. If you want more hostel than guesthouse then this may suit.
• Lisa (10/5): - Great place to stay for the sites in the south west. Easy to get to. Apartment perfect for what we want. Perfect for relaxing in the evening. Went to 3 local places to eat. Meals were lovely. Papas do the best burger. Next door do a fab fish and chips. Comunication was great. Hanna is lovely. The beds are very comfy. Slept really well. The only thing i would say is missing, is a toaster. Something quick in the morning. Cant beat abit of toast. Fab holiday. Would def go back...😁

• Daniel (8/5): plus and minuses - The door was simply left unlocked and the keys were on the table which we found somewhat disconcerting. It is right next to a fish restaurant with great fish soup, but it's expensive as are most restaurants in Iceland. Coffee shops are the way to go. The overall location was pretty far from everything except the airport so it could be a positive considering what your reasons are for staying there. Had a kitchen and cable which was awesome if you want to save money and stay for more than one night too. Overall pretty nice place, but check in was strange considering we couldn't call the owner being foreigners and all..
• Verified traveler (6/5): - The building appeared to be a former store;it would be a pretty good guesthouse if there was some privacy without having to sit in the dark. The only assessable window is the very wide store front window, with a blackout curtain. The other panel windows are on one end where the ceiling is 25-30 ft, tapering down to another panel of windows at about 10-12 feet, these windows have blackout curtains. There’s lots of foot traffic due to the business and restaurant next door, people can see right through the house. The house is one room, kitchenette, living area with a 55”HDTV, but no tv just a movie channel; the beds, queen and a set of bunk beds, the end is the bathroom sink, which sits outside the bathroom, the toilet and shower with a concrete floor and poor window frame, where cold air blows in. There are no electrical outlets on the side of the house opposite the kitchenette and the tv, but there are two surge protectors, where you can put together for your use if you want to use ur laptop from the sofa or bed. There is little to no heat; just under the storefront window, there is a hole in the floor about 6-7” in circumference, this is where your low blowing heat comes from. To stay warm, I heated water. I also used my heating pad that I brought with me, for I read another complaint about the heat so I wanted to be prepared.Good WiFi, comfortable bed. Car needed, nothing in walking distance, but two restaurants. Unsafe door lock, can be opened with a screwdriver.

• BrandyT (8/5): Clean guesthouse, good value - The room was very clean and bright and perfect for 3 people. It’s close the the airport in a sleepy area with not much activity. There was no thermostat to control the heat and the beds were very bare (fitted sheet only and a blanket). It was almost like glamorous camping more than a hotel stay. Good value for the price and manager was even kind enough to answer my calls in the middle of the night to ask about the heat :-)

• David (8/5): Spacious room - Our Family Studio room was very spacious and perfect for organizing ourselves prior to our flight home after 10 days traveling. The Fish House next door has great food, although the band was a bit loud when we were trying to sleep. For check-in we had to call a phone number which was a bit of a pain - it would have been easier for us if the directions for how to get into our room had been emailed to us by the owner a day or two before our arrival. Overall though this was a good place.
