Guest Reviews
- Ray (8/5): - Motorcycle parking was offered at the car rate, parking spaces unfit for cars should be utilised and offered at a reduced rate as other hotel groups offer. We didn't pay and parked outside the hotel.
- AnnaMaria (10/5): - Eccellente
- Graham (8/5): - comfy beds, good breakfast
- Fran (6/5): Area not great. - The area around the hotel wasn't great. Also, the area from the door to the car park smelt foul.
- Thomas (8/5): - Okay
- Sancha (10/5): - Great property! Very comfortable and clean. we enjoyed our stay here. Just need a car to get around as it is a fair distance to the city centre.
- Nigel (10/5): No kettle, a little confused offering - No tea or coffee available in rooms even though hotels.com advertise it.
After a long ride was needed and one reason for booking. Offered options need to be checked before advertising them.
Car parking secure, breakfast short of cheese, brie only other than that no priblem enough of everything.
Shower was abysmal, rain shower absolutely no pressure, dribbled out. Luckily there was seperate hand shower that worked ok.
Extractor fan didn't work, but fortunately the mirror had heating elements to keep it clear. Confusing as no kettle for hot water, as we keep costs down, but pay for electrically heated mirror....,
I'm a little confused by business model here.
- joel (10/5): - RAS
- Andrea (10/5): - Hotel's personnel very nice
- Christophe (10/5): Duper - Super à refaire
- Igor (8/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal, ruhig, geraeimiges Zimmer, grosses Bad, gutes Frühstück. Etwa 10 minuten bis zur Tram-Haltestelle oder 20 min. zu Fuss bis Innenstadt
- Lais (6/5): Ibis is not as good as it used to be - Ac was broken and they played dumb that they couldn’t do anything about it. It was a very hot night in the middle of summer. Staff was misinformed about gluten free options and my partner could have been very sick if they followed the staff information. They said breakfast would have gluten free options so we paid for it but there was none. For a IBIS hotel we were expecting a certain level of professionalism.
- Dawn (8/5): Perfect for stop over only - The staff were very friendly. Bed was very comfortable. No food only Pizza for dinner. Which was cold in middle and heated in microwave. No tea and coffee facilities. No fresh milk just UHT. If your using it just for stop over and just need a place to crash excellent as bed was nice shower was great as well
- Philip (10/5): Very good value - but location a bit off track - Very good value - an excellent place to stay when Rouen is an ‘on route’ stop over. The quality of hotel and staff are both high. The only downside is location. It is a little out of town and in an area of Rouen which lacks the charm of this city. However, good transport links and nearby newly built riverside restaurants make a stay here very acceptable.
- Michael (10/5): - Great hotel for stop over for one night. Not clost to much on foot. The restaurant was not open, but we got something nearby. The hotel was very quiet. Really NICE staff. Easy to park and cheap for the night. Must drive to city centre or walk 30 minutes, so not in a touristy area. But easy to get to, into park and away in the morning.
- George (4/5): Hot room - The room's ac did not work so it was very very hot and hard to sleep. We received a free breakfast but only after complaing about the poor ac in the room. Not impressed.
- Ronald (10/5): Good one - The hotel is clean, good location from motorways. Big rooms although a bit hot for the time of the year, great staff, good breakfast. Great for dogs, very spacious.
The only downside is no food for dinner from Friday to Sunday and nothing close enough to go to eat, so planned to have dinner before going back to the hotel
- Andrew (10/5): Great find - Ideal location. We only had one night here. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Lots of useful information and recommendations. Only complaints room far too hot and pillows too soft. That said its excellent value and we would definitely stay again
- thelma (8/5): Rugby trip - We stayed to support our daughter playing rugby, excellent view of the pitches, staff all spoke English, food was nice, though the restaurant was only open one night of our four night stay, would happily stay again.
- Cristian (6/5): - .
- Michael (10/5): - Great stay at this very comfortable Ibis.Goid secure parking for €7 per night and easy walk into Rouen city centre.Added bonus of being able to watch a rugby match from your room if you are located at the rear of the property.
- josue (10/5): - Enjoyable place
- Michael (8/5): - Great weekend stay at this lovely Ibis.Very good on-site parking for €7 a night.Only let down was that it says there is tea/coffee facilities in the room. There was not!! Please amend this.We will stay again, but will bring a kettle next time.
- Detek (6/5): - Nice view of the rugby pitch
- Jonathan (10/5): - Excelente
- miloudi (2/5): - Very very dirty.
- Christine (10/5): Travelling to Spain - Very convenient. Excellent staff. Food was very nice. Only one small thing let it down and that was the quality of the pillows, which were very thin. I would still stay here again.
- Chris (6/5): - Restaurant closed on arrival. Bar closes too early.
- John (8/5): Nice clean hotel. - Room was clean and modern. The shower was excellent and clean towels every day.
The room could benefit from draws or shelves to unpack in to as there were only 5 hangers for clothes.
We ate in the restaurant on the first evening and the food was good. The bar shut quite early so having returned to the hotel in the evening it was a little disappointing not to be able to drink a cold beer. (Day time temperature was very high 30's) Location is a little way out of Rouen but if you don't mind a little walk it was quite simple to get to the centre.
- Kenton (10/5): Excellent, almost new, way above expectations - My last Campanile stay was over 25 years ago, I didn't have high hopes, expecting an Ibis Budget at best. This was way better than a regular Ibis, spacious and spotless and well kept. Bottles of water on check-in was a nice touch. The one thing that lets it down is the mattress which felt a bit cheap, everything else was excellent. Location is walkable to the city, 30 minutes to the far side of it - or there's a bus if you time it right. I'd definitely stay again.
- The (8/5): Rouen stay. - Fine, but a strange smell when we arrived. Left window open. Bit of a walk to the centre of Rouen. But Pauls bakery 100m from hotel. Great for Breakfast. Petrol station next to it! Great view of Rouen Lambs rugby club pitch. Unfortunately no match on the weekend we were there! Would stop again.
- Ethan (8/5): - Clean with underground parking. Nice and pleasant for weekend trips
- Gloria (6/5): Needs attention to details. - Comfortable rooms. Little maintenance issues. Loose tap. Loose toilet seat. Loose soap dispenser. Chip in my plate for dinner.
- ralph (10/5): Great find exactly what we needed - Great hotel and great service very modern and very convenient
- Victoria (10/5): Friendly hotel - Staff were friendly and helpful
The room was clean
The area wasn’t wonderful but in the way city outskirts tend to be
- Peter (2/5): Uncompromising - Campanile stuck their guns and would not allow us to postpone our booking when quarantine restrictions were imposed. No problem, I shall stick to my guns and never ever use them again.
- STEPHEN (6/5): Good cheap place for stopover - Parking was a challenge as had to check-in to find out where we could park securely. They could just email to let you know in advance. Room was good except a bad drain stink. I suspect we were just unlucky.
It is literally above rugby pitch, so likely more challenging to park! Recommend you ring up and get secured parking in advance.
Finally, about 25 minutes stroll into the old centre, across the river.
- Vanessa (6/5): Ideal if you like additional services - Very clean, modern hotel. There was a slight issue with the air con which meant we had to open the very large windows - at first this was an ideal solution, however shortly after a cacophony of car horns beeping at the prostitutes on the street outside the hotel kept us awake into the early hours. This is a shame as it has the potential of being a great city hotel.
- Rich (6/5): - Stayed here on last day of July - staff are very friendly, location is excellent for city centre, breakfast is plentiful and full of variety and parking easy. However, if you get a room on the main road side be prepared for a disturbed nights sleep.
- Jill (10/5): Good All Rounder - Just stayed for one night, but the hotel was very clean and comfortable, masks worn by all and sanitiser where needed.staff friendly and helpful and pleasing buffet breakfast.
- Ron (6/5): Nice one nighter - On the whole this is a good place to stop for a night. I booked it due to its price, location (walking distance to the centre) and safe free parking.
The hotel it modern, clean and the staff are courteous. It is about a 25 minute easy pace walk into the city along the river Seine, however there is a bus service nearby.
The rooms on the back of the hotel look onto the Rouen Rugby stadium which is fantastic, if you like rugby, sporting atmosphere and crowd noise. However it was quiet during the post lockdown period.
Breakfast wasn’t included but we opted in st check in; it was exactly what we expected with a continental breakfast. It was sufficient for our needs.
The only negatives were
In the Hotel.com filter I selected “free parking” to avoid crazy overnight charges, as this stay was on a budget; however we were told there was a fee for secure hotel parking, albeit €3, it was slightly annoying that this options on the web page had been ignored.
The other niggles, which wouldn’t put be off staying again were that there were only one really soft pillow person (who goes down to reception to complain) and that 2 of the 3 downlight spotlights in the bathroom didn’t work. Trivial maybe but just at matter of housekeeping viligance.
So if you’re passing through Rouen looking for somewhere to rest your head (on the one pillow) then it’s a good budget option.
- Peter (8/5): Good overnight stop. - Perfect overnight travelling stop. Short walk to nice square with may food and drinks places
- Kim (8/5): Fine stay - Easy access by car. Good location. Average food
- Jayne (10/5): Great Hotel - Friendly staff, great hotel, excellent services.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location though check where the garage entrance is. Super, spacious rooms and really friendly staff. Views from the front towards the river and the lifting bridge, those at the rear overlook the rugby grounds, sadly no match on when we visited.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The reception staff good
Room good
Food not very good
- Peter (8/5): Nice and well located - Very nice modern hotel, 3 stops away from centre on local bus (10 min walk away). Friendly staff and a good parking garage. Be VERY careful coming off the roundabout as it's really busy!
- William (8/5): - Good location for exploring Rouen and very clean . Fantastic facilities for rugby training . Easy and safe private parking . Good laid back restaurant with excellent breakfast .
- Dolores (6/5): - Too far from old town unless you take a tram. Dominated by sports teams who just overwhelm the breakfast buffet. Beds uncomfortable and not a nice section of town. Staff at front desk acted like they were doing you a favor. Find another hotel if you can.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was good walking distance to Old Town, friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Secure free parking once I found way in. On edge of town overlooking rugby pitch with balcony running all along side of hotel.
- Elaine (8/5): - Everything was great except that the front desk staff did not speak very much English (even though the online description said they did). Frustrated both of us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean rooms, convenient location, friendly staff and good value for money
- Michael (8/5): - Overall very nice hotel however it is some distance from local transport and after the second night the walk back from the bus stop was tedious and exhausting.
- Michelle (10/5): Amazing hotel in a beautiful town - The hotel was lovely and really comfortable. All of the staff were so kind and helpful and the food was lovely. Great parking, the bonus of looking over a rugby pitch and in a great location for the town and military cemetery. Highly recommended
- Michael (8/5): Short stay - Large comfortable room, excellent buffet rvening meal
- Dawn (10/5): Good value. - Great secure parking, veryquiet nights sleep at the back of the hotel. Location well placed for onward journey
- Jean (8/5): - Enjoyed our night here reception staff very efficient parking great and a comfortable room in a good location.
- Martyn (8/5): Good value overnighter - Very short overnight stay but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price
- Lucy (10/5): Comfortable hotel - Comfortable hotel with a nice room. The bed was comfortable. A short walk into the centre (as advertised). Helpful reception staff. It was quiet in the night and parking was free and available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was first rate for the money. Big shower, good size room and comfortable bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent, functional hotel for a stop over en route to the South of France. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, great-covered parking lot. Spacious rooms, kind staff, modern and beautiful hotel. Would stay there again.
- Fiona (8/5): - Great location and near the town centre etc.
Breakfast was nice and fresh produce.
I would stay here again.
- Nicky (8/5): Lovely hotel poor bedlinen - Great location nice hotel, but bed sheet was really rough.or they forgot to put a cotton one on the bed.
- Kerry (4/5): Need to work on cleanliness at this hotel A MUST!! - The room was not clean on checkin the toilet was disgusting the duvet on the bed had stains all over it disgusting!!! The a/c was not very good as we are from Canada we are used to great air conditioning especially when hot it was 28 degrees celsius while here. The location is great we walked downtown. The shower was great big and clean in the hotel. My recommendation for this hotel is get a fridge in each room for convenience of your guests.
- John (8/5): Recommended - with one caveat - Overall the hotel was very nice, good value, staff friendly, terrific restaurant for breakfast and dinner buffet for both. The only issue my wife and I had was the noise level in the room at night. We were on the 1st floor, or the street side of the hotel = emergency sirens, a Friday night protest, car horns regularly. I would suggest a room on a higher floor and on the rugby pitch side of the hotel. As a former rugby player in the US, that would be pretty close to heaven!
- Renata (8/5): Quality rooms, rubbish breakfast - If you've ever been to Campanille, then you know what to expect - modern design, nice rooms with good size bathroom, toiletries, coffee facilities, super clean towels and comfy bed. It's a typical chain hotel with good quality although they like to save on non-essentials, like paper cups rather than proper china ones. Staff are lovely and they speak English to a communicative level. Another plus is that the parking is free and secured, and even if they run out of spaces, then there is plenty public parking slots available just around the corner. Also, complimentary fast wifi.
The minuses are that the hotel is quite a distance from the city centre - you would not think so looking at the map, but it is in fact about a 20-mins walk. The hotel is by motorway exit so forget about any nice views. BREAKFAST is RUBBISH. I know French have minimalistic views on breakfast but to charge 10 euro for what is essentially a boiled egg, cold ham, cheese and a croissant - it is not on! If you arrive at 7am you have a chance to eat something but if you get up later then forget - bread was gone (had to ask for it twice, each time it took 15 mins to defrost and they only brought in one baguette to share for 20 people who were waiting); fruits gone; water in the egg boiler long evaporated and no one seemed to notice to refill; we didn't have orange juice even once as it was gone all the time! The waitresses didn't have a clue how to run breakfast service. Shame.
- Nicholas (8/5): - Nice and convenient with onsite car park. Clean and simple room and nice bathroom. Room was warm and some difficulty opening window otherwise fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff and service, room very clean. Easy to find and ideal location for attending concert at 106.
Room a bit warm - couldn't get air con to go low enough and road noise too loud to have window open.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Great hotel 20 minutes walk from centre of town. Free covered parking.
- Kerry (10/5): Great - Very good reception staff. Clean modern rooms. Highly recommend
- sandj (10/5): - A good clean Hotel, recently built. A good sized room (twin beds) with plenty space to open your suitcase under the window.
A good sized bathroom with a large shower and some quality fitments: e.g. Porcelanosa, Hansgrohe, Geberit. Beds comfy.
A second chair would be nice. Our room was at the rear of the hotel on the 5th floor with a view over the Rugby pitches ... very quiet.
Secure undercover parking. (use 49.434342N 1.071246E, or 124 Rue De La Motte, Rouen, on your satnav to find the correct
exit off the roundabout for the private underground parking.) There is also off street parking outside the Rouen Rugby Park.
The hotel is of better quality than other Campaniles we have used.
The road outside can be very busy as the hotel is at the side of a roundabout. There are lots of road works going on in the area that cause the tailback of traffic outside the hotel. The Tram line station is not far away, Avenue de Bretagne. (Exit hotel, turn right along past the Rugby pitch to the crossroads, turn right, go along past the prison. turn left at next crossroads.) There is also an indoor shopping mall on Ave de Bretagne.Cannot comment on the food served in the hotel as we didn't use the restaurant. All in all we would return, hoping that the quality of the hotel has been maintained.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable; healthy walk 30mins to cathedral - Comfortable; healthy walk 30mins to cathedral, intriguing quaint buildings in city centre
- Verified traveler (8/5): - air conditioning is inadequate so room was hot and stuffy. too much traffic noise if window left open. otherwise nice room.
- Julie (10/5): Pleasant short stay for a touring holiday - Location was convenient but a good 15 minutes walk from the centre (...and currently through major traffic works) But this was worth it for the safe, free parking available. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was comfortable and spotless. Highly recommended.
- David (10/5): Good value. - Evening meal and breakfast very good.
- Sharon (8/5): - We stayed for 3 nights. The staff were very young, but friendly. However, we had to keep askin for tea and coffee sachets for the second two days. We were told it’s because they only do 1 night of complimentary coffee in the room. Why? If three people stayed for one night each in the room, that would be three sets of complimentary beverages! Silly rule. We have them 3 nights’ worth of business and there is less work involved in that!!!
- Roger (10/5): Highly recommended - Excellent hotel, good food and good service all at reasonable prices.
- Shantilal (8/5): - Easy to find the hotel and free parking, very modern styling. Free WI-FI, very handy and quiet.
- Gregory (8/5): Good Budget Hotel - Budget prices hotel set close to a big shopping centre, and a fair few restaurants within walking distance.
- Helen (8/5): Would stay again. - Little difficult to find with gps but had secure parking was clean and staff were helpful. Ate at restaurant 2 nights. Food was ok. Nothing special but nice not to have to go out to find somewhere as nothing close by. About 30 min walk to city center. Overall would stay again for the price.
- Janet (10/5): A great place - The hotel was excellent in every way, the best Campanile we have ever visited in terms of style, service and helpful staff. We thought the dinner menu we chose - entrée and dessert - was quite expensive, but we were not very hungry and perhaps did not take full advantage of what was on offer. Breakfast was very good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and comfortable. Good secure parking. On a major roundabout into the city so expect road noise but nothing too bad. A good 20 minute walk from the centre of Rouen. Light show at the Cathedral was a delight.
- Storme (8/5): Good hotel but not in a great location. - Lovely room, great service, excellent under ground car park. Poor location. Not a pleasent walk into the old town & the air con was not cold enough. Moved twice both rooms seemed the same. Was i.possible to sleep as too hot.
- Craig (10/5): Campanile Rouen Short Stay - Hotel was generally excellent with friendly and helpful staff. Food good. Air con in room not great and located on very busy roundabout which caused issue so with opening windows. Location not the best for aces to tourist areas of town.
- Ian (10/5): Rouen Campanile - Perfect place for a stop off on your journey, hotel was easy to find the hotel staff were pleasant and accommodating. Car Park was convenient and secure. Food was excellent and best of all the room was clean and quiet with a view of the Rugby ground.
Not a lot around that was easily accessible but then we were not looking to leave the hotel as we turned up late and left early the next morning to continue our journey.
Will stop here again if we are passing through.
- Barry (6/5): Hotel was Welcoming , but the A/C wasnt working ! - Hotel was welcoming , room was clean . Enjoyed an evening meal in the Hotel restaurant.
Unfortunately , we didnt notice the A/C wasnt working until bedtime , so couldnt report it.
Made for a very uncomfortable night .
- Peter (6/5): The Noisy Roundabout - Traffic gets very loud on the roundabout outside. AC is woeful, so you will need to open the windows - not possible at the front due to noise. Get a room at the back only.
- Scott (8/5): Nice stay in Rouen - Nice clean basic hotel room. Good bed and bathroom. 20 minute walk to town center.
- Tania (10/5): Definitely worth the stay - Delighted with our rooms (we'd booked four). This hotel is evidently a fairly new build so it all seemed quite new and well designed. We loved the tucked away secure parking. The rooms were spotless with all the usual amenities (tea & coffee making facilities, large TV, hairdryer in bathroom, fresh towels etc). I thought my pillows were a bit flat but other than that one minor point, really pleased with our stay. We walked (quite some distance) into Rouen itself which was stunning. Managed to catch the light show at 11pm on the cathedral which was great.
- Israel (10/5): - Perfect stay...friendly staff
- Lester (6/5): - We expected a little better from a chain of hotels we often use in Europe for short stays. A new hotel (4 months) which looked to be of a high standard. Staff, check-in, general areas & room/bathroom all very nice, especially loved the walk in shower. There were problems though. Despite the newness of the bed, we could not get anything like a good night's sleep. The hangers are cheap & flimsy, two of ours were already broken & I would have liked a shelf/hook of some kind in the shower for toiletries whilst showering. Unfortunately the worst thing was the air con, completely useless & the room was therefore far too hot! We opened the window when we could but the busy road junction made this impossible for overnight. Disappointing....
- Leslie (8/5): Further outside Rouen than I thought! - This is a new hotel with underground parking. Bit confusing to find hotel, then find right exit off roundabout. Is situated about 25min walk into Rouen which as a Senior citizen I found too far if going sightseeing, then out again for a meal. There is a restaurant but having been told tables cannot be booked, when we arrived about 7.15pm we were told the restaurant was booked out by coach parties so no table until about 9.00pm which was too late. Having raised this issue with the Manager suffice to say the response was less than helpful so it is best to check if any coach parties staying as seems they can book the restaurant!
- JR (6/5): Campanile Let Down - Excellent parking. Good position and staff. Average restaurant. No aircon is unacceptable with humid weather and road noise.
