Guest Reviews
- Edwin (10/5): - Kan geen minpunten bedenken Niets!
- Helen (9/5): Great place to stay for our first visit to Canterbury - Great location just next to walls, close to attractions, between train stations and easy walking everywhere. Lovely onsite restaurant, great breakfast and lovely staff. Our room was above the 24/24 entry door - easy access for us but a bit noisy late night and early morning with staff, deliveries etc. Not a big deal and ear plugs provided but some people may find this problematic.
- Heidie (9/5): -
- Teresa (8/5): - breakfast was terrific - and served in the room
- Nicolas (10/5): - Fabulously clean great staff perfect room brealfast was really good Nothing it was excellent
- Jenny (10/5): Perfect - The Churchill corner room was incredible. Authentically old but moderately comfortable. Nothing
- andrew (9/5): Attic room great for a one/two night stopover. Will try restaurant next time - Excellent communication, friendly staff, good continental breakfast, great location for city centre, parking (additional cost) next door to property, roomy bathroom, restaurant & menu looked good although didn’t dine there on our one night stay Nothing major.
Wifi a bit in and out
Standalone bath looks great but a little short and narrow for me!
The attic room was ok for us but don’t recommend for those with walking difficulties/poor balance. It’s an old building so the stairs are narrow, steep, winding and slope backwards
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable all round and enjoyable - Quirky and well located Ventilation to the room not great. Only had large doors to open at night. We prefer fresh air and not an air conditioner
- Liz (10/5): -
- Terry (10/5): The stairs were a bit of challenge to the attic, a building full of character, be back soon - Fantastic building , a perfect place to make amazing memories
- Short (8/5): -
- David (6/5): Nothing special, but OK for a couple of nights - Convenient Location Poor breakfast.
Noisy, from outside and inside.
Restaurant is quite expensive.
- Annabelle (10/5): -
- Suzan (10/5): Amazing stay. - The friendly staff, the food and the location is great. Parking is just behind the Corner House Nothing
- david (8/5): Cozy , no hot breakfast - The attic room very cosy and unique . No hot breakfast .
Continental offering to your room at 9am. I took one to bed with me so I could have once up ready to hit the road.
- Sarah (9/5): A really nice pub/restaurant with rooms in an excellent location in Canterbury - The room was clean and comfortable, and we liked the wallpaper in the bedroom and bathroom!
Location is excellent and although we were worried about traffic noise, being just off a busy roundabout, we weren't disturbed at all. (For those with more sensitive hearing the hotel left some earplugs by the bed :))
The breakfast was excellent. My husband missed the cooked breakfast although he made do with the pain au chocolat, but I loved the granola, yogurt, and honey bread toast.
The tea/coffee making facilities were good, especially the Garage filter coffee.
The restaurant was really good, too, if a little pricey We're used to a king bed and this was a double so felt a little cramped.
Our stay was for 3 nights and on reflection we felt that the target market was for overnight business travellers. Other than that nothing negative to say.
- Taylor (10/5): Cozy stay - Cozy property! Great walkability! Breakfast in bed each morning
- Annick & Filip (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): - No english breakfast.
- Maarten (8/5): -
- Chloe (10/5): - My room was upgraded to the Dickens room. Lovely, spacious room, lots of character. The breakfast in the morning was superb. Location is very close to the centre. Highly recommend.
- lourdes (8/5): -
- timothy (9/5): -
- Julia (9/5): Une bonne surprise !
- Kay (8/5): - The room was lovely, breakfast was great, and location is good The ceilings are quite low in the places, and you can hear the noise of the traffic but we had ear plugs and it was fine!
- Alastair (10/5): Perfect. Would return. - The king room was amazing. Very clean and all facilities there. The continental breakfast was good.
- Alison (5/5): Good location for the centre. - Food was excellent in the restaurant. Found some earplugs by the side of the bed. I thought it was a joke, but it was very noisy .
Especially in the mornings when the staff came into work.
There wasn't a separate area where you could just order a drink in the evening.
- Russell (9/5): -
- Ronald (10/5): Highly recommended , warm and friendly staff , it made staying in Canterbury extra special for us. - We liked everything. We did not use the restaurant due to feeling under the weather but the menu looked very good.
We did however have the breakfast which was homely, healthy and delivered to the room.
We stayed in the” Dickons” room , exceptional space and comfortable bed with a fantastic rain shower in the bathroom. Nothing
- Jill (9/5): Author-themed boutique rooms with friendly staff - Staff couldn’t be more helpful to my late arrival and early departure. Delicious Breakfast in bed. Gorgeous room, well-equipped with quality tea & coffee and fresh milk
- Jon-Paul (10/5): Perfect stay - Everything was fab. Loads of character, great bathroom, spotlessly clean, super comfy bed and a delicious breakfast. They even supply earplugs to help you sleep should you need them. Staff were brilliant and it’s a great location for exploring Canterbury Nothing.
- Marion (7/5): Good location - Room was fine We were disappointed that breakfast was brought to our bedroom to be eaten. Considering that there is a restaurant on site we would have preferred to have eaten in the restaurant.
Also we were charged £14.00 per day to use the car park nearest the hotel, considering we did not check in until 7pm I thought to be charged a daily charge for this day was harsh.
- David (9/5): -
- Antony (9/5): Great stay, comfortable beds, good location - Really smart, comfortable rooms. Nothing I didn’t like, only comment to make would be the WiFi isn’t good in the attic room, constantly drops out of signal which isn’t normally a problem, but is when trying to work on a laptop.
- simon (8/5): Good but could have had biscuits for tea and could have gave option for choice of continental or full English or at leas - Room was clean and bed pillows were comfortable. Bath was great and tea making facilities were good. The property is close to main road.
- Astrid (9/5): Lovely stay, nice b&b and great location - The room was very nice and had a lovely dining experience. There was nothing I did not like.
- Michael (10/5): - Complimentary breakfast was great
- Paulina (10/5): A very enjoyable stay, lovely room and breakfast - Lovely and comfortable room. Great coffee and tea facilities. Tasty breakfast. Great location to walk into town.
- ns40 (9/5): - Lovely, cosy and well decorated room. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk provided. A couple of biscuits would have been a nice touch, but that's being fussy. Clean bathroom and great shower. The dinner in the evening was lovely and a cosy setting. The place is set in a good area and close to all the local amenities and train station. What would make it perfect would be a cooked breakfast offered, but a nice continental breakfast is provided free.i would definitely stay again. Nothing
- Jon (10/5): Would recommend - Character and location
- Jess (10/5): Dream bed vacation! - All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. And the interior design was perfect for the building. I’d of liked a few more teabags in my room. But that is my only very slight irke. And the only thing I could think of!
- Shiau Tween (10/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): It was very nice stay albeit the view from the windows wasn't but didn't spoil our stay. - Breakfast was fine but would have preferred a traditional hot breakfast. Nothing not to like. It was central to everything.
- Tidaratt (9/5): Excellent night! - I LOVE bathroom! Breakfast was also nice, would love to have a cup of yogurt for each, other than that I would say we have had excellent night there!
- Tim (4/5): Good dinner, but avoid the accommodation - Dinner in the restaurant was superb. Good service and excellent food.
The shower in the bedroom was good. Breakfast was served in the bedroom: OK, but no choice, which was unfortunate. The coffee pot was far too small for two people. The bed was one of the least comfortable it has been been my misfortune to experience; the mattress was hard and unyielding. Bright lights in the garden area adjacent to the bedroom were left on all night, in spite of a promise from a staff member that they would be turned off - the blinds did not block the light adequately. The room was very small, there was no storage space (apart from a wardrobe for hanging clothes), the chairs were uncomfortable, and the light levels (apart from the external garden lighting see above) were too low for reading comfortably. Heating control was haphazard. A huge disappointment.
- Lara (9/5): A great place to explore Canterbury from. - Really lovely breakfast brought to our room. Being in the centre of town it was a little noisy at times but tolerable and earplugs were provided if needed.
- Marci (10/5): -
- Jen (10/5): Brilliant short stay - This is a fantastic stay and had friendly staff. The room was beautiful and as seen on the listing. The continental breakfast included in our stay was lovely. Would recommend.
- Alison (10/5): - Lovely room, great staff, fantastic food
- Wendy (7/5): -
- MARTINE (9/5): A very enjoyable and comfortable stay - The location was good for easy access to the centre of the city. Literally a walk through the underpass and you were there (very close to Fenwicks department store). The property had everything we needed, staff very pleasant and accommodating. Car park at the back was an advantage (payable through the Corner House on arrival). We ate in the restaurant on the first evening, food was very good. Our room was quaint (due to age of property/16th century), and had everything we needed. Everything was good.
- Brian (9/5): -
- Ioana (9/5): -
- Jason (9/5): -
- Matteo (8/5): Convenient location close to the city wall - The location is very convenient to explore the city. The building is very charming and has lots of character, with a long history. The room we had was spacious and the bathroom huge! The room was so hot even with the heating radiator closed.
- Amy (8/5): -
- Sam (10/5): Excellent stay would stay again - Old vintage build No much we disliked
- Derek (8/5): -
- Chloe (10/5): - . .
- Graham (8/5): A good night in Canterbury. - A well renovated very old inn. The attic room was lovely. Food in the restaurant was good & enjoyed the breakfast in bed. Doorways were low so quite a bit of banging heads.
- Marsault (10/5): -
- Lindsey (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Fun and good food - Place central, staff friendly and helpful Noisy wardrobe in room!
- John (10/5): - Recommend. Great place to stay, close to everything and the dickens room is fantastic
- Nicola (6/5): Could be great - The continental breakfast was lovely. The building has lovely period features. The hotel is in a good location for walking into the centre but its on the busiest road. It was so, so noisy that they actually provide ear plugs on your bedside table. There was also a lot of noise coming from somewhere in the building on Sunday night, like a really deep bass sound which is weird because the restaurant closes early and this went on until 11pm. There's a really heavy door banging constantly too which seemed to shake the whole building! There is also a really strong smell of air freshener in the room, so strong you could taste it. We tried to find it to take it out but couldn't. Tha bath is super slippery and there was no conditioner which was inconvenient. The breakfast, although excellent quality and quantity is delivered INTO your room at 8.30 which isn't great if you're on a relaxing break and you also have to make your own tea and coffee in the room to go with it. There are other places on Canterbury at a cheaper rate which include a hot breakfast and are in good locations. We wouldn't stay again unfortunately.
- Patti (10/5): Please have dinner at the Inn - Wonder dinner. Imaginative and all locally sourced include the wine and butter! Room spacious and comfortable. Breakfast served in our room was lovely. Located just outside the walls of Canterbury& easing walking from both train stations. All you want to see and visit is within 5 or so minutes away. Staff was sweet and friendly. The Corner House exceeded expectations.
- Laurie (10/5): Séjour parfait - Déco au charme rétro typiquement anglais. Personnel très aimable et arrangeant. Chambre très confortable et fonctionnelle.
- francis (8/5): Perfecte locatie.
- Nigel (9/5): Good accommodation and location. - Very different from normal hotel chains. Could be a little noisy. Also car headlights at night could be a problem.
- Mark (9/5): -
- DJ Eazy B (9/5): No complaints at all, we really enjoyed our stay - The room was amazing, charming and full of character. Parking was conveniently close by, which made our stay even easier. The food in the restaurant exceeded our expectations, really enjoyable.
- Bebbington (9/5): - Amiable and efficient service, very comfortable, good situation
- Stephen (8/5): Lovely friendly hotel, very clean and comfy bed.conveniently situated for walking around Canterbury - Conveniently situated for Canterbury sightseeing
Nicely decorated rooms and very clean The room we had didn’t have anywhere to hang clothes.
- Victoria (10/5): 5* service, excellent food and comfortable rooms. Would definitely recommend - Modern but characterful room. Spotlessly clean. Excellent restaurant and 5* service from the team there. Breakfast was a tray of quality products delivered to your bedroom in the morning - granola, yogurt, croissants, pain au chocolate, fruit and toast. Our stay was amazing value for money and would recommend it for a trip to Canterbury. Nothing.
- Rose (10/5): Lovely, historic B&B - Lovely, quirky place with a delicious breakfast that they deliver to your door. I wish we had booked dinner in the restaurant the night of our stay. It looked wonderful.
- Matthew (9/5): A wonderfully quirky and comfortable stay with amazing food and seamless service - I loved my stay at The Corner House in Canterbury. The food was fantastic – the steak was absolutely amazing. The rooms were comfortable with a wonderfully quirky charm, and the bath was a real treat. Breakfast in bed was a lovely touch, and the service was completely seamless. Highly recommended! Light sleepers should take note – the building is on a main road, so it can be a bit noisy at times. Also, being an older building, the water pressure is a little low, so it takes a while to fill the bath. Neither was a problem for me, and ear-plugs are provided, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
- Calum (10/5): -
- pizzato (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Exceptional food. Best thing about Canterbury - Food was exceptional
- Elena (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Short but sweet! - Lovely room with a great shower, big TV with Netflix! Excellent restaurant with great service. Nice breakfast in the morning. Car park right behind. Asked for gluten-free breakfast, but this was just the yogurt and granola component - bread and pastries were not GF, unfortunately. Coffee in the room was fine, however!
- HAIHONG (8/5): -
- Johnny (9/5): -
- Tanya (8/5): - Loved the individuality of the rooms lovely old building Nothing it was perfect
- Aviva (10/5): Very private, very quiet, very old, but truly lovely - We were put in the attic, and were totally not expecting anything out of the ordinary, but it was amazing! WARNING - not for people with mobility issues or very tall people, I barely managed to stand up through the doors and I'm 5ft 3, my husband had to bend through doorways and he's 5ft 10. The stairs up to the attic are very steep too, but doable if you don't have mobility issues at all. My husband mentioned it was like going to stay in the attic at Hogwarts. The breakfast in bed the next day was also very welcome, and the bathroom was gorgeous. If I'm being really picky, the noise of drunk people singing and traffic from below, but we did have the window open a bit as it was quite warm, and there were some lovely ear plugs left out by the bed just in case we needed them (we didn't, it wasn't too intrusive)
- Ilaria (10/5): Ottima location per visitare Canterbury e dintorni - Tutto perfetto. Camera grande, pulita e ben arredata.
