Our group of 10 enjoyed both breakfast and dinner over three nights, and the food was consistently delicious. A special thank you to the manager, Vajira, and the rest of the team. After we checked out, our pre-booked van (organized externally) was late, and we were at serious risk of missing our train. The staff quickly stepped in to assist and arranged tuktuks for us on very short notice. Thanks to their help, we made it to the station in time. Highly recommended for both the hospitality and service!

When i arrived the worker told me that this room is usually booked by local drivers and being a woman he wouldnt feel comfortable placing me in it. He gave me a fully private double bedroom for the same price. I think the management did not really like it ;) but he insisted. It was very kind of him.

From the moment we arrived, they made us feel incredibly welcome, going above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. They not only helped us organize the next leg of our journey but also shared insights into life in Sri Lanka, which was such a nice touch. When we had an early departure, they even packed us a takeaway breakfast, which really impressed us. We ended up extending our stay by an extra night because we enjoyed it so much! The hotel truly has everything you could ask for: comfortable, clean rooms; delicious breakfasts; a location that’s close enough to the city but just far enough to feel peaceful; excellent value for money; and a team of amazing staff/hosts who genuinely care about making your stay as perfect as possible.

- Denise (10/5): Amazing views and vistas. - We loved the location, plus the views from the viewing platforms. Which are upstairs above the bedrooms.The first floor platform where we ate breakfast has amazing vistas. Then there's a second floor platform which gave you an even better views. The bedrooms are located on the ground floor, which we found comfortable and the ensuite showers were hot. The balcony looks directly into the hotel next door, but to the right of the balcony, we had a wonderful view of the mountains. The owner/manager, plus all the staff, were exceptional, so friendly, funny, and engaging. nothing was too much trouble for them. whatever we requested, they bent over backwards to do for us. The staff were also able to order us tuk tuks and taxis's , when needed , and we were a short tuk tuk drive from the town centre and train station. The tuk drivers were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area, and we soon made friends.. They gave us their wats app numbers and would pick us up later once we had finished being in town. No matter how late , they always came back for us, which was very reassuring. We loved the peace and quiet of Ella mansion, too. No loud music or loud noises. We had one problem with the bathroom sink leaking at one point, but it was quickly repaired. We enjoyed the breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, tea, and fruit every morning ,and had a couple of lunches that we also enjoyed. Most of the time, we were out, so we ate lunch and dinner in town, but the chef was always on hand if we decided to stay in the hotel for the day. We enjoyed lunches of both chicken, with salad and chips, and the tuna fish lunch was cooked to perfection.. There wasn't anything we didn't like. Ella mansion was suitable for what we needed. In fact, we booked in for 2 days and then extended our stay. I would definitely stay here again if only to see the staff, we left feeling we had made really good friends. Last thing, we found it to be a lot cooler here than at the beach. I had to buy 2 hoodies to keep warm, plus it felt a little damp, as we were up in the clouds in Ella. but i must say it was a welcome relief from the heat. However, a few days later, the temperature changed, and we were sweating again. Thank you, Ella mansion, for taking such wonderful care of us, we look forward to coming back again.

Everybody was very kind and accommodating and helped us with anything we needed. The location was a little challenging to get to but beyond that our stay was very pleasant.
- Hashini (10/5): Comfortable - It is convenient and 2-3kms away from the main ella city. No hassle and staff helped us to rent a scooter too. It is worth for the money and breakfast is soo good. We tried the Sri Lankan menu. Bathroom needs to be a bit more clean. Other than that it is so good.

Honestly couldn’t fault the stay and Ajay and Buddi were amazing. Ajay was a great host and very welcoming always willing to help. Buddi was a great chef, cooking an amazing Sri Lankan breakfast every morning. We had dinner one evening and his food then was also amazing, so I recommend eating for dinner one night too. Very clean. New facilities also! Nothing - however add some hooks to hang a used towel up after showering (towels were provided which was good), and provide some tea/coffee/sugar in the room (kettle and cups provided which was also great!)

Tea delived to the room on time :) Aarush was very helpful :) & few other guys :) We were given one room in that room shower door did't work so moved to another room that room did't have a tv. Not a complain but before guest arrive should have check everything was in working condition.

- Doney (7/5): Good - Really beautiful view from the mansion. Location was ok, maybe bit too far from the main street. When separatelt asked they made really good Sri Lankan breakfast. There were too much noise every night very late. I'm not sure if it was staff or some local tourist talking and laughing very loud around 00.00.Room had a blurry window to a hall and there werent any curtain on it. We had to cover it separately with a sheet. Bathroom had weird smell. Toilet was shaky.

The rooms are large, the view is great, the staff is exceptionally accommodating, and it is fantastic value for money. It is so nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of the overly touristy town of Ella, but still close enough to easily travel into town. Meals provided by the hotel were outstanding. We loved everything about the place.

There is a lot of building work going on so eating breakfast was right next to the builders working and walking around with buckets of sand, gravel and tools! Hopefully when the work is completed it will be lovely, the owner is obviously trying to improve things with a new kitchen being built.

Their attention and service is one of the best I’ve ever experienced during my travels. The food is delicious too! I highly recommend you to stay here, by far the best place around Ella. The property is located in a very peaceful mountain, just 5 mins Tuk tuk drive from Ella town. Everything was clean and cosy. The architecture is modern and open. There is warm water and a supreme view from the restaurant. Is perfect for digital nomads, because you can work while watching an spectacular view.

QUIET AND NICE PLACE TO SPEND HOLIDAYS IN ELLA. - It is very calm, quiet and nice place which is full of hospitality with very friendly staff and having clean and tidy spacious rooms for solo, couples friends and family also provide very good and delicious foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner.. I LIKE THIS PLACE.

- pubudunid2022 (8/5): Experiencing Ella - Ella Mansion is located in a superb place not far from either the main road or Ella town. Nice place to stay with all the necessary facilities and its a good place for a calm and quite stay. Easy access to all the wonderful things you want to explore. Food is also tasty and depends on your requirement. It's a nice place with nice people.

- neranjia (8/5): Good budget stay - It was a quick get away with a group with two toddlers and one infant. overall a good stay. Rooms were clean. Family room - huge room with two double beds and one single bed. includes a pantry (no cooker) two side windows makes a magnificent view.they have provided good mattress You don't need any A/C (this rooms have A/C) in Ella. it's cold at night. Budget double Room- Mattress was hard and very basic setup. you can’t expect more than this for 17$ BB . Dark bathroom . Breakfast - Really good ...!!!!! we had egg curry with string hoppers, bread and pol (coconut) sambal followed by a good Ceylon tea. Snack - We brought some eggs and they made omelets as a late night snack. Location - Bit away from the city center. you will have to reach the city center for any food. (They will recommend a hotel nearby for dinner and lunch, please skip that place. They serve us the most unhygienic food I ever had in my life). Atmosphere - very basic , no proper reception , just a budget stay. Its better if you can improve the look.
- shakthiw (6/5): Not Bad - First of all, the reviews saying it was terrible and that the staff were unfriendly are hust overstatements because they were annoyed they didn't get 5 star quality service. Let me just say if you want a really really luxury stay then go with something like 98 Acres Hotel. What was good: The staff were amazing. They are one of the most helpful people you will ever meet. If you want good Sri Lankan food, the homecooked meals will not disappoint you. They were surprisingly good. Ask for Ulundu wadé for dinner. The wifi doesn't reach the rooms properly but out in the lobby it's amazing (for sri lankan standards). Way above normal hotel wifi speeds in Sri Lanka. The rooms are really comfortable even without AC. It's ella. It's cold at night. What was bad: The water pressure is laughable. Most of the rooms don't have AC, no TV The location is not good at all. The houses next door are in the way. There are mosquitoes... Anyway overall it was a really good stay. Would recommend to anyone who would like a quick stop in ella.
- ruwanjala (6/5): Bad location - The rooms are comfortable and clean. However, the washrooms didn't have sufficient water pressure. The location is quite far away from the Ella town and difficult to find as there are no name boards to assist. The staff is helpful. The breakfast is tasty. Wifi strength is extremely poor.
- Quimbey (4/5): Disappointing. Not quite as described. - This hotel would probably fit better in the hostel category rather than hotel. It has dorm rooms, doubles & family rooms. There is no restaurant or bar and it is a long way out of Ella Town, at least 4 kms of hilly windy road and felt very cut off. We moved hotels because of this. The hotel is fairly new, about a year old but is already showing signs of mould on the ceilings. Our room was clean (apart from the mouldy ceiling) with comfy beds. The noise described in some of the other reviews is due to the high ceilinged, open plan. echoey concrete reception areas & corridors- reminiscent of an urban chic design, but not quite. Sadly the views are partially obliterated by the hotel being built next door by the same owner. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fruit, toast & jam and omelette which was fine.
- Kumail (2/5): - This homestay was not ready for my arrival. He first asked me to come 2 hours late and then when i arrived there was no one at home. He finally accommodated me into another adjacent property which was much better, but i could have selected that in the first place.
- Isuruuminda (6/5): Building, Rooms were good but poor service - The room was fine, bathroom was good too and the building itself is quite new however the service was not up to the expectation. they offered free breakfast but no variety at all. we stayed for two days first day they forgot the tea and we though they are not offering as there was no one around to ask even. second day we got tea similarly the service was poor and inconsistent.
- ChirathC (10/5): GREAT PLACE WITH GREAT STAFF - We stayed 02 night at Ella Mansion.Excellent management ,wonderful stay & highly recommend.The rooms were very cozy and clean. The hospitality offered from the employees were excellent. I recommend everybody to stay in this hotel when they visit Ella.
- JessVHaleyV (4/5): Wouldn’t return here - When we arrived at the hotel at approximately 9pm we checked in with no problems. We went to the room and the man running the hotel stated that he would be leaving reception and if we needed anything we could ring the doorbell. About 20 minutes later when we went to go shower, the water was not running. We rang the doorbell multiple times over the next 40 minutes and he did not return to help us. We ended up going to bed and in the morning had to wait for the man to return to the desk so we could ask him to help with the shower. He finally came into our room and realized that the water was not on. He left our room to go turn the water on so we were finally able to shower. Breakfast that morning was good for the price we paid for the hotel. Overall room was cleaned but staff is poor. When we were leaving the hotel staff helped arrange taxis, however he seems to work with the same man over and over and it is quite obvious that he is making a profit off of guests taking taxis and Tuk Tuks. The same man who had been driving us to different tourist attractions took us to nine arches bridge in a tuk tuk. He dropped us off about 15 minutes from the actual bridge and stated that we had to walk because tuk tuks do not go right to the bridge. This was a scam because when we arrived at nine arches after walking up pretty steep hills there were plenty of tuk tuk drivers waiting at the top for people to go back down into town.
- 642deek (10/5): Amazing and wonderful experience - This was our first time to Ella, We are glad we found this place the service, location and food was all out and beyond. The rooms were spacious , clean and comfortable. the rooms came with an awesome view. The service and the staff was super friendly and nice. We were served breakfast and lunch. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back to Ella mansion.
- N1927UEpaolaf (2/5): Warning. Our worst experience ever in a hotel. - This started off well ended terribly. The room was fine, bathroom was good too and the building itself is quite new. That is everything positive I have to say about this place. The manager is the most unpleasant and disrespectful person I have encountered in my travels so far. The place advertised a restaurant and had menus available however the staff acted as though preparing food was a huge inconvenience. On our second night at 7:30 we asked him if there was food available at the property. He replied that at there was but that he would have to get us kottu from a takeaway because he stopped cooking rice at 6pm. this made no sense to us but we went along with it. We then had to wait for 3 hours while he did... something. No idea what. He kept saying it was 'coming'. But also that everywhere was closed. Lets say he was being less than an honest with us. He made up a story about everyone in ella town being at a funeral so he wouldn't have to do what he agreed to. He was a nasty (and confusing) piece of work. At 10:30 after a few complaints from us (we were bloody starving) he presented (to two vegetarians) a plate of chicken fried rice. After seeing how dissatisfied we were he came back with cold egg fried rice and a bowl of cold vegetables, it was gross. And not what we asked for or expected. Fact is, if he'd just been honest with us we would have gone into town ourselves. But instead he messed up our whole evening. The next morning when checking out is when things got really bad. Firstly he inflated the price of the room by over calculating the tax and refusing to honour the price we had got from booking.com. When I protested he got incredibly rude and started complaining loudly about 'f*ing tourists' despite the fact that I assume we're his whole customer base. I couldn't believe how this guy was behaving. It seemed totally insane to me. He then tried to charge us 800 rupees for the cold rice and wouldn't let us leave until we agreed. I felt personally threatened by this guy and he didn't seem to care one bit about the reputation of his business. If you want to be treated with any modicum of respect avoid this place like the plague, its awful.
- Dominima (10/5): Clean room and very nice staff - This place is 5mins by tuk tuk from the busy and very touristy main street in Ella. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Great views. A newly built place.
