- beardedoldness (10/5): Good holiday in Italy - We booked this Hotel Giosue a Mare in Meta because we wanted a small hotel, near a beach but not in the main tourist part of Sorrento. We got a lovely hotel right on a private beach. It's staff are delightful, friendly, consistently helpful and all of them put up with my appalling attempts to speak Italian! We didn't eat our main meal there every night but we could have. I had the best tuna I have ever had there, one evening in the rooftop restaurant. We certainly ate snacks there quite often and sometimes the snacks meant we didn't need a main meal. We had chosen one of the cheaper rooms and it was not large, although bigger than a premier inn room, while the bathroom was quite big, and both were extremely clean. It was very quiet. The hotel is at the bottom of the cliff at Meta.You can walk up if you're feeling energetic, but there is a bus or a lift. However, the hotel will organise free car rides to Meta train station and in the evenings free trips to Sorrento centre as well as the return. We took rail trips out for the first few days; a guided one to Pompei and unguided one to Herculaneum as well as Sorrento and then, exhausted, spent the last days of our holiday swimming or lying on the beach. It's a very good place if you want that sort of a visit. You don't need a car, the railway and buses are cheap and functionally excellent if colourful. We had a great holiday and cannot recommend the hotel enough but next time we go we will get a bigger room.

- Neil (9/5): Beautiful location with delicious breakfasts and thoughtful staff - All the staff but particularly the chef were both helpful and informative. Our room had an incredible view out over the sea towards Vesuvius and beyond; an absolute pleasure sitting out on the balcony watching evening fall. Breakfast was plentiful and unrushed, the room clean and spacious, the location peaceful and beautiful. As we were there for only a few nights, and ate outside, I can’t comment on the restaurant or bar but what we saw looked attractive and inviting. There is a complimentary service to take you into/ pick you from Sorrento in the afternoons and evenings. We used this on the first day but found the local bus to be more convenient and a chance to see a bit more of the area. The only issue was that the walls are very thin and we could hear everything happening in the next room. It wasn’t a huge issue but once you realise you can hear your neighbours, you understand they can hear you!

- Celestina (9/5): Lovely area to stay at Sorrento. - Location is perfect easy access with bus that just starts and ends at the hotel area going to sorrento center. Love it coz its away from the crowd. Though its april nit the peak summer time. Stayed for 5 days, on the 2nd day thought we would like our towels change, even though i followed the instructions if we want it change, but they never change until we check out. Its a small thing, no big deal though.

- Dániel (10/5): Nagyon szuper hotel, tengerparti környezetben. - A hotel közvetlenül a tengerparton helyezkedik el, saját kis strandja is van. Nyaralni tökéletes helyszín, kirándulások kiindulópontjaként kicsit távol esik pl. a vonat állomástól (1 km), ráadásul lépcsősoron kell felmászni, illetve emelkedőn sétálni. Jó hír viszont, hogy a hotel üzemeltet saját taxit, amivel így be lehet jutni az állomásra, sőt délután/este Sorrentoba is. Ez teljesen jól működik. Az épület szép, szerintem nem régen újíthatták fel, mert nagyon új volt benne minden: elektromos függöny, modern szoba széf, új csempék stb. A személyzet kedves, segítőkész volt, a szobák tiszták. A reggeli finom volt, isteni kávéval. Konkrétan nem volt ilyen. A hotel elhelyezkedése adottság, nem hiba. Ha hibát kellene keresni, akkor talán az, hogy a falak annyira nem voltak vastagok, hogy ne hallatszódjon át a szomszéd szobában rendetlenkedő 2 év körüli kisfiú zaja.

- Zbigniew (10/5): Dobra baz wypadowa, zdala od zatłoczonego klimatu okolicznych miejscowości - Bardzo urokliwy hotel, pokój z widokiem na morze godny polecenia, choć może wielkościowo nie porywa, to organizacja przestrzeni nadrabia. Dobre śniadanie. Rozwiązanie z parkowaniem aut oraz transportem na dworzec kolejowy godne polecenia. Dojazd wg map google skrótem ekstremalnie trudny - po 2 cm prześwitu od złożonych lusterek ! - wybierajcie główną drogę. Na piesze wycieczki trzeba przygotować się na sporą wspinaczkę w górę.

- Andrea (10/5): A wonderful stay! - We LOVED staying here - there staff were amazing and so helpful and the view from the rooms and the property were just what we were looking for with this trip! We feel asleep to a cool breeze and the sound of the ocean and enjoy so many beautiful sunsets from our room and the hotel's lounge. We also ate their restaurant several nights and enjoyed every bite and my husband fell in love with their Limoncello Spritz! Their daily breakfast was wonderful and one day when we had a early tour, they even backed a "breakfast to-go" for us which truly hit the spot! The location is super convenient to catch a city bus into Sorrento or they offered a shuttle to the train station to take on of the trains into Sorrento or to Pompeii and Naples. Overall, a wonderful stay and experience!

- travellbugs779 (8/5): Lovely hotel right on the beach. - We have just returned from 1 week at the Giosue A Mare and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a front facing room and was spotless. Rooms are serviced and restocked daily. Plenty of plug sockets and some with USB points. Tiled floor throughout and fully controllable aircon. Curtains close automatically when you leave to keep the rooms cool. Modern mini fridge available stocked with sparkling/still water. Staff were very helpful and did all they could to help and advise. Breakfast is in the downstairs buffet room overlooking the bay. Full continental choice, extensive pastries, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, preserves. Tea, coffee, juices and chilled water. Cereals available with choices of fruit toppings. Omelette and scrambled eggs and bacon to order. Toaster available to use, choice of bread. One of the nicest breakfast buffets I have tried abroad! Tried the restaurant on the roof terrace on 2 evenings. Food very nice although I felt a little expensive but expect it. Had to insist on a ‘well done’ steak for my husband as waiter said the chef doesn’t like cooking meat this way! That said when it did arrive it was delicious! Other posts have said they have private functions and indeed we were on the fringes of a large birthday celebration with a pianist and singers. Perhaps would have liked a warning before we entered restaurant as we had to endure the music whilst eating which was too loud to talk over. ( we had already ordered before music started) Throughout our stay the hotel was extremely quiet and no disturbances which is refreshing. However after the celebration in the restaurant was finished the staff decided to rearrange the tables (12.30) and our room was underneath so a little thoughtless! Position of the hotel is idyllic for a quiet beach holiday. Hotels own private beach cleaned with a machine and sun loungers put out on request. Restaurant and beach bars just a short walk down the hill. Tried them all and can recommend all. Bus stop at the bottom of the hill , direct to Sorrento. Hotel provides free shuttle service to Meta train station and if you ring the hotel they will come and collect on your return. Also taxis available to hire, €2 for 2 adults to hotel. Be prepared for a very busy local train. Never experienced a quiet spell at any time. So have to learn to push on like the locals! We really enjoyed our stay and the hotel has clearly been updated and refurbished since much earlier posts. Would love to return one day.

Staff was helpful and they also helped us with the parking that was the hotel's underground garage. The private beach was still under construction for the summer and out of use but this was not clearly indicated when we reserved the hotel. Beach looked nice though.

Abbiamo esposto il problema e loro hanno detto di non essere stati loro …peccato che la macchina era andata dal carrozziere settimana prima ed ora è graffiata ma non da noi 😉

Chambre (surclassée) top avec terrasse chaises et bains soleil. Le plus : J'adoré la fenêtre donnant vue sur la mer directement de la salle des bains. Restaurant, leur soirée d'ouverture une belle reussite ! Navette à la gare Meta bien. Arrêt bus à seulement quelques minutes. Petit déjeuner un peu limite par rapport à la qualité du reste... Oeufs trop cuits. Jus de fruits de base etc.

Bardzo miła obsługa hotelu zarówno na recepcji jak i w restauracji. Śniadanie świetne, było naprawdę wszystko, dodatkowo można zamówić sobie zrobioną na świeżo jajecznicę lub omlet. W pokojach czysto, bardzo ładnie.

- Jürgen (2/5): Ich war zweimal da, das erste und das letzte Mal. - Direkt vor dem Fenster befand sich eine lärmende Klimaanlage in ca. 1,5 m breiten Zwischenraum der Häuser. Der Lärm war auch bei geschlossenem Fenster zu hören. Nachfrage bei der Rezeption für anderes Zimmer brachte keinen Erfolg. Mir wurde gesagt das die Anlage um 23:00 abgestellt werde. Sie lief die ganze Nacht. Dann wird man auch noch verarscht. So ein Zimmer darf nicht vermietet werden, es sein den man hört sich den Lärm an und sagt dann ja. Elementar und primär bei einer Übernachtung ist ein guter Schlaf und das setzt Ruhe voraus. Beim Auschecken wurde ich gefragt ob alles gut war und habe diese Kritik so geäußert.

- Gwen (10/5): Definitely will be back. One of best hotels I have stayed in. - Beautiful hotel with private beach. Spotlessly clean, well maintained and stylish. Many room have fabulous views. The on-site restaurant is good. There are other places in the same cove to eat. Roof top bar which is open in the summer has stunning sunset views. We had a big, confusing group and the hotel front desk staff patiently solved everyone’s problems. They were great and helpful. I loved this hotel, and would definitely stay again. The minor downside is location. The private beach means that you are the bottom of a hill with 85 steps. There is a local bus to the Circumvesuviana train station which comes every 15 minutes, the hotel sometimes has a shuttle available, or it is a 20 minute walk. The train goes to Naples (1 hour 15 minutes), Pompei (1 hour) and Sorrento (30 minutes). There is on-site parking. These issues are a worthwhile trade-off, making this a great trade-off in value for money.

On checking out we were offered a complimentary shuttle to the train station. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay here. The property is a good bit away from sorrento town but there is a public bus stop 50m from hotel that travels very regularly into sorrento and the hotel can provide a shuttle bus in the evening

- Lorne (7/5): The staff was accommodating and the breakfast was plentiful. - The seaside and view were beautiful A little secluded, and our room was too close to the noise. Charging for beach towels, chairs and umbrella are not cool.
