• Annette M (10/5): Excellent location - I chose the Excelsior for its proximity to the train station, as I was arriving and leaving by train and also did an excursion by train to the Certosa nearby (which I highly recommend). It also was close enough to all of the other sights to be walkable. The room was spotlessly clean. Also, the city map provided by the hotel was excellent! Tourist maps often do not label all streets, or use printing so small that they are not user-friendly, but this one was great.

• Pierre (2/5): Bof - Ils disent qu'ils ont un parking, en fait c'est celui de la gare Resultat 27€ pour la nuit et il facture 20 ,€ pour 3 petits chiens. Resultat prix de la chambre plus parking plus chiens il est préférable de prendre un hôtel plus cher mais avec des services. Et l'accueil est vraiment impersonnel, sans sourires donc bof a éviter.
• FIDA (6/5): - The hotel was walking distance from train station, though from our rooms we could hear the trains arriving and leaving the station. The staff were nice and helpful and their dining suggestions were really good. It was also a walking distance from shopping areas and restaurtants.
• Sonia_ITA-UK (8/5): Nice and cozy stay, good location near both train and bus station and the city centre - WHAT I LIKED: Very big and comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and clean. Room service impeccable. Nice location attached to the train station, not too far away by walk from the city centre as well. So it is recommended for travellers. WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Walls too thin so you hear literally everything and I have been woken up in the middle of the night by other people who arrived in the room next to mine one. I didn't like also the fact that you were given a unique code to join the free Wifi, which last just 24 hours. So, every day, you have to go at the reception and ask for a new code.

• ANGELOV230 (4/5): Hotel Excelsior Pavia - From the positive side: - Hotel Excelsior is in the square of the main railway station, and it is in good position to visit the city. - My room was big, with a comfortable enough bed and a small balcony. - Breakfast was barely OK for the price I was charged (8.00 euros per day). Staff were friendly. From the negative side: - Insulation from noise in the room is almost non-existent: from outside I could hear passing trains day and night, and from rooms nearby people talking aloud. - The bathroom was small, with a very noisy fan, and with a shower that was far too small (less than one square meter) and without any place where I could put the soap. - Checkout was very early: at 10:30 am of the day of departure.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Rent, fräscht och prisvärt - Rummet såg ut precis som på bilderna och var rent och fräscht. Bra säng och stort badrum. Precis vid tågstationen vilket passade mig perfekt. Kort promenad till centrum. Kunde lägga till frukost för 8€. Fanns bagagerum att lämna väskan i vid utcheckning, ingen märkning av väskor gjordes dock och de står öppet i en nisch vid receptionen. Över lag nöjd - väldigt prisvärt!

• Salvatore (8/5): A decent hotel close to city centre - In Pavia there is just a few of hotels. Therefore you must get satisfied by what you can get. Nevertheless, the comfort and the services are at a top level. Breakfast is worthy of a 4* hotels. After all it worths a stay.

• Karim (4/5): False advertisement - On the ad it says that kids stay free without confirming the age. My daughter is 4 and when we reached there, first the receptionist asked me my daughters age and then said up to the age of 3 is free and charged me €20 more. There was no safe parking available so I had to park in a paid lot and then walk. It wasn’t a pleasant experience checking in at 11:30 at night.
• pauln65 (10/5): Great Hotel in Pavia - I recently came to stay at this hotel and had a really positive experience. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was large with a comfortable bed and the location was excellent. For a 3 star, it was very good value and I would definitely return.
• gordon (8/5): a friendly smile! - location is very handy to the train station. Also close to the main shopping areas. within two blocks, there are numerous cute cafes and bakeries. The hotel is a little bit older, but well-maintained. We found all of the staff to be extra friendly and efficient!
• patrick (6/5): watch out for the cramped bathroom/shower! - hotel is okay and is probably standard for the town of Provia. it is centrally located, next to the train station and a laundry facility close by. the main street to the center is only a block away and the center is maybe 1/4 - 1/2 mile away. The main issue with the hotel is the shower/bathroom in rm 116. The shower is so small, you can barely close the door. in addition, there is absolutely no room in the shower for soap, shampoo, etc. Also, no place to hang them! So, you have to water down, stop, open the door, grab the soap/shampoo, soap up, close the door, then rinse off. Bad design. Having one or two hooks from which to hand your toiletries would have been a blessing. Other rooms may not have this issue so check to be sure.

The staff was excellent The room was cozy and the bathroom was enough to do want you need. It’s across the street from the train station, so that makes it easy to arrive and to exit.
• Jose (2/5): - We pay for two rooms in one of them the AC unit never work and according to the only person was there at the front desk, there wasn't possible to turn the AC on because the te city regulations . We ended it opening the window, and because the weather we ended sick. Old building and pretbad maintenance. Never again.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Zu empfehlen für ein Business Trip - Sehr nettes Personal. Freundlicher Empfang. Mit Englisch war es kein Problem sich zu unterhalten. Das Frühstücks-Buffet ist nicht nur Continental, es gibt auch Ei, Wurst und Käse. Parken mit dem Auto ist ein bisschen schwierig, doch gibt es eine Garage die extra gebucht werden muss. Ein Angestellt stellt das Auto dann dort ein und holt es auch wieder

Televisión a la distancia correcta. Ducha amplia, te puedes mover y sistema con manguera o desde lo alto. Muy bien. Desayuno correcto, tienen de todo aunque no tanto para elegir, pero había huevos duros, que no suele haber en muchos sitios y los curasanes eran blanditos y sabrosos. La única pega es que el colchón de la cama era demasiado fino para mi gusto. Lo demás bien.

Buona la posizione, sia per la vicinanza dal centro storico che dalla stazione. Se ci si sposta in auto, il parcheggio in zona non è facile da trovare (strisce blu in prossimità della stazione), ma segnalo anche un parcheggio multipiano a qualche centinaia di metri.

• Francesca (8/5): Albergo comodo e pulito..ma vecchiotto. - Come prima volta in questo albergo posso dire che la camera singola mi è piaciuta,pulita e confortevole..solo la doccia un pochino stretta. La colazione ..se devo essere sincera.. è un po' misera per quanto riguarda il salato. Le struttura dell albergo è un po' vecchiotta quindi per quanto riguarda le zone comuni lo sistemerei un pochino. Il personale invece giovane ,cordiale e disponibile. Come zona è comodissimo perché vicino al centro della città.

• Patrice (8/5): - De passage à Pavie en direction de la Suisse. Satisfaits de notre séjour d'une nuit à l'hôtel Excelsior, bien placé pour visiter la ville. Il faut par contre prendre en plus le service parking de l'hôtel avec voiturier, trouver une place dans ce quartier de la gare étant à priori très difficile. Etant satisfaits , nous avons retenu une autre nuit directement à l'hôtel à notre retour de Suisse, ce qui nous a permis de compléter notre visite de la ville.

• claudiamN1885DJ (6/5): No good - The location is not bad but really, awful... maybe the only thing nice were the employees but the hotel is barely 2 stars. Have to say that at least it is clean... the bathroom barely fits one, the decoration style is early ‘60. Won’t recommend it.

Note negative: hotel estremamente vecchio, arredamento terribile e rovinato, le coperte del letto sono quelle di lanetta tipo ospedale, il materasso era a bozzi (Camera Superior), bagno rifatto nuovo e bello ma con doccia così piena di calcare che il getto andava ovunque tranne che nella direzione supposta corretta. L'impressione è quella di un posto che cade a pezzi e che riesce ad essere tenuto in piedi solo dalla cortesia e professionalità dei dipendenti i quali sorridono nonostante lavorino in una location che ha più di un teatro abbandonato che di un hotel.

When you enter the carpet is dirty. The bed even if i got the big room the bed was very hard, and it was cold, no central heating. The breakfast had nothing hot like baked bread. The 1st day the receptionist wasnt even able to talk in English. Other than that the room it was clean, but very old fashioned.

When called to repairing the air conditioning system, never showed up and they seem to not want any foreigners in their place. Better to sleep anywhere else.

• Manjare15 (8/5): Hotels must be functional - Elsewhere people have wondered whether this a 2- or 3-star hotel. It is a discussion that does not need to be repeated here. Yes, it may have the look and feel of 2-star hotel, so what? The rooms are clean, towels are changed every day, the radiator works, breakfast (by Italian standards) is sufficient (perhaps they could get the coffee machine to make hotter coffee), and the location (though near the train station) is pretty good. It is only a five to ten minute walk into the old town of Pavia and the river. A nice big Esselunga supermarket is about 10 minutes away. All in all good value for money.
• sarapicassa (6/5): Great location - We only stayed one night the location was good, right next to the train station. Clean rooms, a decent breakfast. We only spent one night in Pavia. The next day we had a plane to catch at Milano Malpensa to go back to the States. This hotel was perfect for our needs, right next to the train station. The rooms were clean and fairly comfortable, the breakfast decent. Pavia is a lovely town; I wish we had more time to explore.

Usually hotel have a wonderful reception bit rooms are not so cared. For Hotel Excelsior it is exactly the opposite: gentle Receptionists and wonderful rooms!!! Good breakfast.

• oskg (6/5): Good for one night - We stayed at this hotel one night and it suited us fine. We didn't have reservation so we didn't know what to expect. Room was clean, furniture old but all was in good working order. There was considerable noise from traffic and trains so good earplugs came in handy. Breakfast was standard affair nothing spectacular but sufficient.
• sovva25 (2/5): Formal and unprofessional staff - My husband reserved the room for 3 nights 2 weeks before coming, he also asked for a bed for baby (we traveled with 11 months baby). When we (my husband, little son and I) came to reception for checking in, the boy from reception asked us to give the passports of everybody who was supposed to live in the room. My husband gave his ID, but I had just a copy of my passport (actually the original i gave to the embassy for the visa). After 50 minutes of waiting and sending the copies of my documents, this boy from the reception refused us to give the room, because I don't have the original of my passport with me. Actually he was ready to let my husband and baby to stay in the hotel, but not to me! Incredible that in the modern civil country, in not bad hotel (according to the comments here) somebody can refuse staying in the hotel to a family with a little baby or to propose to separate the baby and mother just because u do not have the original of the passport (there are a lot of other ways to identify the personality). Fortunately there were the places in the hotel not far for 2 nights, after we had to change hotel because for the third night it was sold out. So... the result of our trip to Pavia - stress for us and baby, huge disappointment of the service of Hotel EXcelsior, lost money for one night (first night in this hotel have been already paid). Highly unrecommended!
• Victor (8/5): Solid! - I stayed here for a week over the Holidays while visiting my son who's been studying at the University of Pavia. Staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. The single room was extremely comfortable and very clean. Granted, I don't need much to make me happy and this Hotel exceeded my humble expectations. The only drawback (and it was minor) was the reliability of the in-house internet. It tended to drop you regularly and require you to log back in. In its defense, the Hotel recently changed internet providers and may be working out bugs. I would unconditionally recommend this Hotel to any traveler who doesn't require all the bells and whistles to make for a happy stay. The overall rating and condition scores are a 4 only because of the internet. Otherwise, I would score this Hotel and 5 across the board.
• ThomasM337 (4/5): A disappointing stay in Pavia - On arrival, the young man at reception was confused about our booking. It seems that we were expected the next night despite our vouchers. He found me a smallish room on the first floor, overcrowded with three single beds. The furnishings were tired, the wall paper was starting to peel from the walls, the toilet would not flush properly, there was an excessively long wait for hot water in the small shower, controlled by an antiquated faucet. On a very warm evening I could find no controller for the airconditioner. I had to plead for one at reception. Eventually a box of them were found in a back office, and at last one for my room was found. The night manager then hunted for live batteries. Next day my bags were moved to a tiny single about room, the size of a small caravan, barely room for a single bed, no room to swing a cat! The bathroom was tiny too, with no shoulder or knee room for the toilet or in the shower. Not really suitable for the overly large or claustrophobic. Breakfast was frugal, certainly not three star that this hotel claims. The wifi was somewhat difficult to access and very slow. My four friends fared little better.
