- Kelvin (8/5): - My stay at Azura was fantastic! Everything about this adult-only hotel felt relaxing and well thought out. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were incredibly attentive and always went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. One of the biggest highlights was the beach of Carrillo, located right next to the property — absolutely stunning and peaceful, easily the highlight of the entire trip. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I’m giving it four stars only because nothing’s ever completely perfect, but this came very close! I’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, adults-only getaway.
- Victoria (10/5): - What a wonderful resort. The beds were comfortable the air conditioning appreciated and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Also, when you stay at an all inclusive resort it can tend to have mediocre food. That was not the case with this property. Our lunches and dinners were fantastic and it just added to our trip being delicious and relaxing!

I don’t like that the restaurant only opened on certain nights and I had a swim up room but no one came to clean the leaves out the pool other then once at night when we’re trying to get dress. The staff was slow moving. All request had to go through WhatsApp and I found my self sending the same text more than once. No live activity, games, or entertainment on this resort which I didn’t like. Food was good, drinks depending on who made them if they was good or not. This resort is for relaxing only that’s it.

- Abdulsetar (10/5): - The resort and its location was gorgeous and lush. Tucked away in a remote part of Costa Rica, Samará is blessed with mountains and ocean views. Azura was quiet escape from the hustle and allowed us to feel relaxed. The resort restaurants were excellent, my favorite being the Chill & Grill. I was underwhelmed by the spa service and the gym, however it didn’t dampen my overall experience and happily recommend anyone to visit Samará and Azura for a calm trip.

Also the pool bartender had to keep leaving for supply reasons, so took forever to get drinks. We just walked over to main bar each time we wanted a drink. Lastly, the food could have been better but it was edible. Super quiet and relaxing though with pretty ocean and beach.

The food was subpar, and you have to schedule your meal time with the concierge every morning. They were understaffed, and it takes a while to receive any orders; However, the employees were extremely friendly and helpful. It's a great place if you want to just relax and not be around a lot of people.

But great time, made some cool friends, and the wet bar is the best!

- Kayla (4/5): - This resort is falsely advertised as adults-only, there were kids present, including in the pool early in the morning. Nightlife was non-existent; all food and drinks, including room service, stopped by 10pm (really 9:30pm). The buffet was tiny with limited options—mostly fruit, three cereal options, eggs, and two meat choices (sausage and bacon). No turkey bacon, veggie options, and on two days there was no bacon at all. They claim to have five restaurants, but only three were open (Chill & Grill, Bocatto, Tao), all requiring daily reservations, even if tables were clearly empty. Some were closed without notice. Buffet dinner also required a reservation and had barely any food; no meat, mostly fruit and potatoes. Any ordered food takes atleast an hour each time. The beach water was murky brown with seaweed and debris; we even saw a dead stingray. It was warm with a nice view but not safe for snorkeling. Worst of all, $160 was stolen from our room on day one. We reported it to the front desk and nothing was done. This resort advertises a hot tub, which they dont have. Even when I asked staff about it, they were confused. They did have a Jacuzzi that was slightly warm. It didn’t work for three days and was shared with kids. The only highlight was Jasmine at the Chill & Grill, her vibe was nice and her drinks were always fresh and amazing. Despite the beautiful view, I would not return. The trip was full of disappointments and false advertising. Dont let pictures fool you.

We rented a car a drive there, took a while to get there, and the road is a bit sketchy to drive at night, but it was cheaper that scheduling a ride. Takes about 2-3 hours from Liberia depending on traffic. We will be back though. It was so relaxing and the cocktails were delicious! Just go!

- Reneh (2/5): Worst resort ever - DO NOT BOOK HERE. We checked in and our entire room was filthy. The bed had blood and urine stains all over. The bathroom fixtures were all rusted and the sink was leaking anytime we turned the water on. The roof had BLACK MOLD all over it. The couch had stains and mold all over. The shower head was dirty and had mold on the corners. The resort pool water was too low for the filter and the water was basically just sitting and not filtering at all. The gym was a joke. The door handle is a zip tie. The walls have mold and termites eating away at them. The equipment broke halfway through a workout and we were hurt by the impact of falling. This resort is a complete joke. Not even half a star. To make matters worse, the hotel staff are complete liars and they refused to allow me to speak to anyone in charge. They would not provide management or any corporate contact. STAY AWAY. Check photographs!!

The staff was incredibly hospitable, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was spotless and well-maintained, the food was absolutely delicious, and the overall appearance of the resort was both impressive and inviting. A beautiful getaway all around!
- Tenesha (6/5): - This was a nice resort overall esthetically but the lack of versatility that it provides is awful. You can’t do activities everyday. Only on certain days and they should make that known. Why send me an entire brochure of activities and NONE of them are available especially on Saturday. Just because you all don’t book them maybe you can connect the guest with other companies to do activities. Even if you are unable to provide entertainment outside there was no entertainment on the property. Nothing. Literally I entertained myself. The prices are normally more than what it cost and we got a major discount but they shouldn’t be charging anymore than what they charge now. The location is inconvenient for what they want to charge someone to be there. This wasn’t the best choice for a vacation and they need to do a better advertisement of the overall grounds. They were doing renovations and constantly while in my room, I was disturbed with noise. The staff was very nice and I enjoyed them. Also do not book transportation with them. But the management lacks providing great entertainment to those looking for an all inclusive adult only resort. It’s $165 per person one way when you can book a taxi from the airport round trip for $280 for 3 people.

We went during the rainy season, so the resort was relatively empty. This is a all inclusive resort on the smaller side of that category, so it had fewer food options than larger resorts, but the quietness of it was great. On the down side, despite the resort being relatively empty, service was a bit slow and sometimes the staff at meals was hard to find. The beach is a bit narrow and admittedly trash washes up as is common for the area, but they could have cleaned the beach more frequently if at all to get up the bottle caps and the like that washes up. I would however say that they should enforce a headphone rule and stop people from talking on speaker phones. This is a big pet peeve of mine and my wife, and perhaps I would have given it 5 stars if they enforced this. I would also get a car or plan that you are going to take organized trips daily, as there is not much to do on the resort itself. In summary, this is a great resort for a getaway and the midrange price might justify putting up with the shortcomings.

If you like an authentic, quiet and quaint secluded beach resort vacation in Costa Rica, feeling as if you owned a piece of Costa Rica all to your self, this resort would not disappoint you. Very close to the town to where you can walk thru the beach which takes only 15 mins. There is an excursion desk that helps organize daily activities for staying guests. We took the 3 hours horse ride and a separate coffee tour on alternative days during our stay, which are very enjoyable. The food and service at the resort are also nice.

- Christian (6/5): - This resort labels itself as all inclusive, which it partly is. They serve guests food and drinks, to include room service, from 7am - 10pm. Before 7am, it’s difficult to find coffee and after 10pm no drinks are served. Also, after breakfast, there was really no where to get snacks until lunch began being served around 12:15. Outside of service being subpar, the grounds are gorgeous. The entire hotel has green luscious plants, vines and beautiful flowers. The town is close enough to walk and the excursions they offer were simply amazing.

The staff was exceptional and the service, while at times longer, was also high-quality. This resort doesn’t necessarily stay open very late and is for someone looking for a more laidback atmosphere. The food and cocktails were without question the best we’ve had at an all-inclusive. We were well-pleased and enjoyed every meal. The nearby town, Samara, is also a quick cab ride or a 30-40 minute walk by beach for a change of scenery. Overall, we loved our stay here, will recommend it to those we know, and hope to return someday!
- Brad (10/5): - First and foremost, the staff were absolutely fantastic!!! They were ALL so friendly, funny and accommodating. They made the stay so enjoyable. The resort boasts 5 restaurants but based on hotel occupancy they are not all open each night. It does make business sense and I get it. I was just surprised by this when we got there. You need to make reservations each day for where you want to dine that night (based on what restaurants are open). You need to do this first thing in the morning or you may not get into your preferred restaurant for that night. For the most part, the food was very good to excellent. Our favorites were the Asian and Italian restaurants. They seemed to be most guests favorites. Laundry seemed to be an issue every day. We were never given a full compliment of towels each day and often had to go to the front desk to ask for hand towels and wash clothes. The beach was really nice but it's not a "sugar sand" beach. When the tide is out you have around 150 (or more) yards of hard-pack sand that is great for beach walking or running. It's a nice walk into Samara on the beach - about 1.5 miles and takes about 25-30 minutes. Some good tourist shopping and beach bars there. There are also several surfing schools there if you want to try that. The waves are great to learn on. We could not believe how warm the water was in the ocean (March). I've never felt the ocean that warm before. We were very happy there!

- Angela (4/5): - The property was smaller than I like. The staff spoke very little English. Reservations were needed for restaurants, but no one to seat you on arrival, you can seat yourself. When ordering food, the order was always incorrect. The mini bar in the room was restocked once in 5 days.
- Paula (10/5): - We have gone to quite a few all inclusive hotels and this was by far one of best ones. This place was absolutely incredible! Really well kept, super clear. The staff was amazing, very accommodating, the food at every one of restaurants was really good. We also booked massages at their spa, by far one of the best massages we’ve ever had! We went to the spa on our last day and we wished we had gone earlier so that we could have gone back a second time. We did the sunset excursion which was super fun. I cannot say enough good things about this resort, we cannot wait to go back and we will.
- Weixia (6/5): - Azura is a smaller all inclusive. The staff were welcoming and lovely; although, it was evident that the place was very understaffed. Room cleaning usually came around 3-4pm each day when we were taking a break in the room. The turn down service was somewhat inconsistent. The hot water was consistent as well; there were two days where the shower only got to lukewarm. Nevertheless, the beach is beautiful. The place was not super crowded, which made for a nice, restful stay.

We had a Junior King Suite, nice setup, however would have loved to have in the room a comfy chair or sofa to relax or stretch out on instead of the bed. The French restaurant is closed so that limited our choices. The Italian food was great, best risotto! The wait, pool and bar staff was very friendly. Just a note, the resort is about 2 1/2 hours away from the Liberia airport so be aware. We were able to arrange a pick up to and from the airport thru the resort for an additional fee. Overall a nice stay!

- Imane Merveille (2/5): - This hotel is a scam. There are no ocean view rooms. The hotel is set back from the beach with large trees blocking the view. The hotel is 3 stories tall so u can’t really see the ocean. It’s a beautiful view, but don’t expect an ocean view if u are paying extra for one. They “upgraded” us to a ground floor pool view with no tub even though we booked an ocean view tub suite. We pushed back and finally got the room we booked but we were disappointed to see there was no ocean view. Additionally, The bathroom had black mold all around the shower floor, the curtains were broken so we had no privacy. The couch in the room was dirty, our bed frame was stained with a suspicious liquid. We were locked out of our room multiple times and had to wait for a technician to open to our door. We saw other guests experiencing to the same thing. No hot water when we tried to shower. Chemicals were poured into the pool while guests were swimming. Breakfast buffet was barely edible. We booked for 6 nights but packed our bags and left 2 days later. They are refusing to refund us for the remainder of our stay but we don’t care because we are so grateful to no longer be in that nightmare of a resort. If you are well travelled and expect a 4 star experience, you will be greatly disappointed. Also please avoid the gym, my husband almost broke his ankle using their treadmill because the treadmill carpet kept sticking and randomly stopping. They also make their workers work 18 hours a day. Terrible.

The resort is a perfect mix of luxury and relaxation, making it an ideal home base to explore the beauty of Costa Rica. While some may find the food service slower than expected, we embraced the “Pura Vida” lifestyle—taking time to enjoy the stunning atmosphere. If you’re in a rush, we recommend McD's ;) otherwise enjoy paradise. The real standout at Azura is the exceptional staff. Roxanna made our trip with her warmth and unmatched attentiveness that made us feel like the most important guests at the resort. She creates connections that go beyond service <3 Jonathon always greeted us with a wave and food recommendations that never disappointed. Alejandro wowed us with his incredible cocktails and tipped us off to a nearby spot to see wild monkeys. Jazmine kept the bar lively and fun, ensuring our evenings were full of laughter. Brenda and Hanisey brightened our mornings, serving coffee with sweet smiles and patience as we practiced Spanish. Axel and Danny provided attentive, speedy service, while Lux and Wendy planned excursions we’ll never forget—like seeing whales and dolphins or zip-lining and soaking in hot springs. Roberto, our driver, doubled as an amazing tour guide. He pointed out creatures and sights we’d never have noticed and was a joy to travel with. We’ll miss him and everyone at the Azura dearly.

That said, the resort as a whole was short-staffed, which resulted in some longer wait times for food and drinks - not a deal breaker, just room for improvement. Also, given Costa Rica is known for its coffee, the coffee at the resort was subpar. Again, just room for improvement, but still a wonderful experience.

The rooms are clean, however the daily service in not reliable. Several times they ran out of towels. The only negative point is dining/food. There are very limited choices - 3 restaurants - and some day only 2 restaurants are open. The menu selections are also limited. While the food is fresh and well prepared the wait time is sometimes very long - 3 hours for a 3 course dinner is too long.

They then moved me to a dirty room.They told me there were no more ocean view rooms available . That i would have to wait until the morning. #2 They moved me to another room the next day at around 2 pm. It was so many dirty dishes laying at the front door to the room. This was a partial ocean view. You still can hardly see the ocean. I rented a car through Expedia and I drove 5 hours from San Jaun, Costa Rica specifically for THE OCEAN. #3 I went to book an excursion with guest services and they said They didnt have the equipment to do the Atv tours they advertised. They also didnt have a tour guide for the horse back riding that they advertised. There were other activities they advertised but once we tried to book it would say a minimum of four people could do the tours or activities. They only offered snorkeling, kayaking and a sunset boat. #4 There was never any hot water. I had to shower, wash my hair and shave in cold water. It was not ice cold but It was very cold. #5 They made us walk half a mile to the entry gate from the resort in order to leave for excursions. They did not allow any tour guide to pick us up. did they have any type of transportation to get us back and forth to the entrance.I feel off an atv and was hurt they still made me walk to the resort. This was definitely not the VIP experience that I wanted

Rooms is very musty and smell mold. My bathroom sink had mold in the corners and in the drain. A/C leaked all over my room on the first day. I wouldn’t go back. Staff is the best part of this resort. We saw a lot of deterioration on the property, and areas we were not allowed to use. The best part of the resort is the staff, room, and easy access to the beach and surrounding areas. And of course love the Britta Coffee machines.

Limit access around the property as they are in the middle of some updates. Dinner ends at 10 for all the restaurants. The chill and grill was great. The fish tacos amazing (mahi-mahi fish) the surf and turf with mashed potatoes good. The Italian restaurant is good as well. I had the risotto(shrimp) and the Asian restaurant was ok but the beef and broccoli was a little salty.

- Guadalupe (8/5): - The property was nice and newer than many of the surrounding hotels; however, there was a section that was under construction. The sister hotel was under repair as well. However, I was able to use their small exercise room since the primary hotel does not have one. This fact was a surprise as I was under the impression that my hotel had one. Although the hotel surroundings and landscape were lovely, my reservation, which indicated that I would have a partial ocean view, did not reflect my room at all. I was given a room with a nice balcony and a view of the courtyard and walkway. The food options were nice. The pool was great, and the beach seating area was perfect! Suggestions: take plenty of mosquito repellant, speak with an agent if you want an ocean view, and be ready to relax because it is very secluded and quiet. Overall, I had a nice time and would go back.

- Gregory (2/5): - Front Desk Assistance: The front desk was often unhelpful, and responses to requests made via WhatsApp were significantly delayed, averaging 45 minutes, with some inquiries going unanswered. Food Service Delays: Our lunch orders consistently took over an hour to arrive, even when other guests who ordered after us were served first. Additionally, several food items were out of stock at each dinner service, and we experienced long waits and cold food. Pool Noise: The pool area was extremely loud, and the staff did nothing to address the disruptive behavior of other guests, which forced us to leave the area multiple days. The noise was also audible from our room. We even had someone yelling outside our balcony and I had to ask them to leave since it took the staff 20 minutes to respond to our complaint. Room Amenities and Maintenance: Our room lacked basic amenities such as towels and robes, and the hot water was unavailable on one of the days and even when it was fixed it was only luke warm at best. Housekeeping services were also delayed until late in the day, which was inconvenient, often coming after we had gotten back to the room after being gone all day. I even explicitly asked the desk if they could come sooner. Power Outages: The power went out multiple times each day with no backup power or lighting, significantly affecting our comfort and safety. There were no emergency lights in the room so when the power went out and I got up I slipped and fell due to not being able

It would definitely feel more comfortable if the rooms were pristine but they can use some overall shining up. The shower is impractical and leaks all over the floor. The food was really good and available. The staff are very friendly but are a little slow so just be patient and they’ll get what you need. There are limited restaurants and no type of entertainment on the resort besides the lone singer in the main restaurant. Room service is limited so you’d have stock your room with what you need before 10pm. It’s a natural element with the full beauty of Costa Rica for a relaxing experience. Fair warning that there are a plethora of insects and they are relentless. Pack lots of repellant. To enjoy entertainment you do have to leave the resort but the area is pretty safe. We used Guancaste travel for a good price and they were very reliable. Overall I enjoyed my stay in this quaint resort for the price but it could use a few updates.

We the Asian one was the least favorite but the other ones were fantastic!! If you want to have a nice, calm vacation this is the place to be. It’s one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve been to.

They were so rude and not helpful at all! We had to get up and ask for everything at every meal and at the pool! No one served! We were asked if we wanted coffee for the first time on our last breakfast! We had to get up and ask for everything at the other 2 breakfasts. Even water!! Horrible!! There’s no pool wait service and the bars and pool restaurant are supposed to open at 10:30 but that never happened. They would stroll over there around 10:30/11 and set up. But the drinks were awful!!!! The liquor is weak and I’m pretty sure it’s half water. Disgusting! They have no idea what they are doing at the hotel. The staff act like they are there on vacation and how dare you ask to be waited on!! We ordered food poolside at 10:40 am and at 11:20 I asked about it. It never came out in and he didn’t care at all! We had to go on our excursion hungry. The food is ok. Definitely not worth the all inclusive price. We went to Gustos beach in town 2/3 days we were there! The service, food, atmosphere there was amazing! Thank goodness! It may have saved our whole experience in Samara! I would never return to this hotel and I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. I’m so happy we checked out and went to another hotel. The service there was amazing! Please take my advice DON’T GO HERE! Awful everything! It was clean

While everyone there was very helpful, nice, and great I want to recognize some that went above and beyond for us. Yudith is AMAZING!! I cannot say enough great things about her. Eden, Danny & Kendal were outstanding as well. You are very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of staff. They are extremely hard working, smiling all the time, very kind and helpful. They are a huge reason our stay was so wonderful.
