My wife had just been maid of honour at her sister’s wedding, and I wanted to surprise her with a well-deserved break to help her relax. It was the perfect choice! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Caitlin, who was absolutely lovely. She provided the most wonderful service from start to finish and made us feel so welcome - thank you so much, Caitlin, you were fantastic! Our suite was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had a stunning view from the window. The building and grounds are simply beautiful, full of character and charm. There’s also plenty of parking available on-site, which made everything so convenient. We had an amazing time and I’m already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend! N/A

Julie (7/5): Started off well but deteriorated - We received a very warm welcome from the receptionist and we were even upgraded on our choice of room. Dinner was excellent and the bar had a fabulous selection of wines. The check out experience was excellent and the staff member listened to my feedback and did not charge us for breakfast. The bed was too firm and I had a very poor nights sleep. This followed by a very disappointing breakfast which left me feeling that I would not stay at this hotel again. I had expected table service with fresh tea/coffee but unfortunately there were two urns with water and coffee both tepid and the coffee was bitter. The choice of continental was limited and it seemed as if there had been no thought behind the offerings. The cooked vegetarian breakfast was let down by undercooked cherry tomatoes on the vine, cheap baked beans which were more juice than bean, no salt and pepper or other condiments available without asking.
Dipak (9/5): Had a lovely stay in a Georgian period house. - We came to stay and attend a wedding here. The booking staff were very attentive. The reception staff were extremely helpful. We had Nice comfortable room in this historic house , The room was well lite with all facilities. The rooms with large sash windows got cold so the shutters needed to be closed. But the heating was good. Bathroom drainage & towel rail heating were slightly below par.

Jim (8/5): All in all, a very pleasant stay. - All very good. Minor niggle about breakfast (see next question). Just a minor niggle that the poached eggs at breakfast were overcooked. The yolks were solid. We invited 7 of our family who live locally to join us, and several had teh poached eggs, which were all the same. :-)

Huge bathroom with a bath and seperate shower... We had booked a deluxe double but we were upgraded which was so nice. The bed was very comfortable and a proper king size We opted for a small breakfast but it was lovely. Staff very friendly especially Nico, lovely gentleman. Nothing to dislike

We requested one room with a king bed and another room with 2 beds. we got two rooms with queen beds. overall the room was a bit shabby. carpet needs replacement. and for the rate we paid it really should have included breakfast but I guess that's the nature of shifting costs.

Pippa (9/5): Enjoyable! Thank you, Winstanley House! - The staff were lovely - Nabeena and the two on reception in the morning. Their good humour and helpfulness made all the difference to my stay. The sink plug didn't work and so I used the shower to clean my teeth! I didn't complain about this however as I didn't want to change rooms.

Loved the building and original features such as old shutters. Decor everywhere was beautiful. Evening meal in steakhouse excellent. Disappointed with the breakfast. Very poor selection of buffet items no croissants or breads. Only orange juice . No choice of yoghurts and very poor fruit offerings. No hams or cheeses and coffee and tea in help yourself thermos dispensers which were cold. No muffins for the eggs Benedict, just 1 very thin slice of toast. After the fabulous evening meal I had high expectations. We were offered fresh hot drinks though when I asked for them.

Bruce (3/5): Great place - wrecked sleep! - Met at the door by Niko - incredible front man for the place. Very welcoming and informative. Superb room. great food and cocktails. The room was large and roomy and benefitted from air conditioning. The food we had in the garden and the restaurant was superb - as were the cocktails. Best Old Fashioned ever! The sleep! Big reason for staying away from home is a comfy bed and a good nights sleep. We didn't get that. Got disturbed just after midnight by a mob outside the main entrance (below our window) who were screaming, shouting, laughing for an eternity. This went on till at least 1.30am and wrecked the sleep. No consideration by the rabble or control by the property management. Wrecked the visit which you don't expect for the money spent. Angry and disappointed.

The bed was comfortable but the pillows less so. Pillows made my ears hurt. The tap in the bathroom only trickled when moved to cold water. Driving in the area wasn't very nice.

David (9/5): Really nice so many things right but if I was only a day guest I would think twice ie bar - Loved the garden, patio etc sunny fab 1. Speed of the bar average 20mins to get a drink, x 3 in the afternoon =an hour queuing. Bar Room has too many tables and chairs makes it very cramps when in the queue, take one side out, the bar is huge compared to ones I have worked in, organisation would make it better. One for the kitchen, when doing an English Breakfast never never deep fry mushrooms !!! Killed them

Amg (9/5): THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN LEICESTER!! MAGNIFICENT 👌 - Exceptional staff from Mohammed and Nabilla in Reception and the amazing Housekeeping and Restaurant staff. I have travelled the world and staff like Nabilla are rare! An asset to your establishment;) The mattress in room was like a 🕳 hole!
