Guest Reviews
- Jackie (7/5): Good location. Lovely staff. - Great staff, very warm and welcoming. Good location Had to walk down the side of the building to enter the hotel from the back of the hotel after hours. The alleyway next to the hotel was pitch black and quite dangerous.
- Łukasz (8/5): - Bath tube, breakfast was fresh and tasty Pillows too tick, there was no other available
- Tjin Asjoe (8/5): Uitstekend - Goede locatie en net hotel met uitstekende ontbijt en dinner. De kamers zijn ruim en schoon. Goed bed.
- Samuel (8/5): -
- Adrian (10/5): Warm clean and excellent value for money worth a stay - Location warm clean perfect Street parking not great
- Andy (6/5): Adequate for 1 night and staff really welcoming - Location to town No view and couldn’t open window due to pigeons nesting outside and told they come into room if window open
- david (7/5): - Good holiday brilliant location Safe didn't work reported on first day, three days later still not working. It said if you didn't want room service, put your do not disturb sign out by 9am. But second day at 6.30 I had someone knocking the door saying room service. I didn't put sign out but it was 6.30
- Ellie (6/5): - Friendly welcome. Clean room The 'breakfast included' turned out to be just 2 items from a continental menu. The cooked breakfast, which has received good reviews, was not included. The parking at the back was not very user-friendly in terms of payment. No sign of the advertised coffee maker in the room
- Alina (10/5): Mi-a plăcut totul și comfort și curat și preț ✨👍 -
- Josephine (5/5): - Friendly, helpful staff - clean everywhere, including bathroom - Uncomfortable mattress, we both kept waking during the night trying to get comfy - Really uncomfortable pillow -, only one cheap pillow per person -- no pillow cover under pillowcase - poor room layout, small sofa tucked in an alcove facing the bed, not the tv - lack of small fridge - lots of the free view channels on tv didn't show - cups provided were okay for coffee but too small for tea - small mugs preferable - only one hand towel in bathroom booked for 2
- Brian (7/5): - Location - comfy bed Breakfast
- darren (1/5): - There was no breakfast, half the hotel was locked down, the bar was shut. It was dirty and decrepit, it isn't a 5 star hotel by any standards and would not even comply for a 2 star in my opinion.
DO NOT BOOK HERE
- Stacey (9/5): - Our apartment was great and comfortable. Great location and really friendly staff. Partner went down to the bar at 10 and they said they were closed. Felt early for a Friday night.
- Dennis (8/5): -
- Andrea (8/5): Great hotel with lovely people, good food and really excellent value! - Lovely quirky decor, great staff and fab restaurant on site. Need enough towels for the number of people in the room, a tad more focus on cobwebs please.
- Carl (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent, great staff We booked a double which it was , the bed was very small
- wayne (9/5): - Everything about this hotel is excellent Nothing
- Anthony (7/5): -
- Matt (8/5): Comfortable room for a work trip, imagine I will stay again. - The room was very tidy and comfortable. The food was good for both breakfast and dinner, nothing exceptional but reasonably priced food with good portion sizes and a good selection of drinks. Staff were really lovely and friendly. The TV was a bit temperamental, kept rebooting, and it didn't have any apps so I could sign in to Netflix etc. Only other draw back was parking not being included in the price but this was a pretty minor inconvenience as the car back behind wasn't very expensive.
- Cannon (8/5): Brilliant staff and food with comfortable, warm rooms - The staff went above and beyond. They cannot do enough for you and are amazing. When we checked in, they waited outside in the rain to make sure we got in ok! Checkout and breakfast was another member of staff who was so incredibly kind and always there is help. I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff are.
The rooms were warm and comfortable! The toilets were clean and newly renovated. So swish! The beds and pillows are soft. Towels all freshly laundered.
The breakfast was AMAZING! So delicious. Made with beautiful ingredients. The eggs and mushrooms in particular were favourites. The plates were nice and hot with the hot breakfasts and cool with the cold breakfasts. Nice, large pot of tea. Great coffee and assorted fruit juices. Light comes in from hallways under the doors. We had to move suitcases there overnight and try to block light.
One of the rooms had a large window immediately opposite the toilet. Pattern over the glass, but it felt very exposed. No one wanted to do anything but brush teeth or hair in that toilet, and they did everything more serious in another room we had booked.
Parking is an issue. The car park directly behind the hotel is privately owned and known to be dubious. We parked at a nearby location instead.
- A (10/5): -
- Nathan (8/5): - not the hotels fault i didn't have time for a cooked breakfast so had porridge instead. unfortunately this was prepared poorly. The bed was pushed against a wall.
porridge wasn't very nice.
- Gary (8/5): Very enjoyable with very friendly staff - A small but very comfy room ideal for my neefd A slightly large room
- Daniel (7/5): All in all pretty positive. - The food is excellent.
The staff member Jasmine Jem was very nice and helpful It was not obvious how to get into the hotel after the front door was closed. I was beginning to panic but fortunately another guest arrived and found the way in.
I had a bit of a struggle closing the curtains
- Stephen (8/5): -
- David (7/5): Comfortable, friendly staff, but in reality too far for my work location at Duxford airfield. - Fine, clean, quiet. Helpful friendly staff. Small single room. Working at Duxford airshow, hotel was the booked but in reality too far (25 mins). Long way from where I worked. Parking difficult (a public pay 24/7 car park), and payment was either up to 3hrs or 48 hours ending midnight the following day. As I leave at 7am to go to airfield there is no way to pay for just 7 hrs, so had to pay another 48 hr ticket.
- Claire (9/5): - Food was Thai, even though we ordered non-spicy dishes it was slightly spicy but very delicious. Served up lovely. Room.was as described. Comfy bed. Easy check in and out. Staff on hand to help if needed. Half board option gave you £25 each off your food bill, we had to ask about this as wasn't sure or told prior. Breakfast was continental although no baked beans even when asked. Wetherspoons across the road for when the bar shuts in evening. Would definitely come back. Parking is a nightmare. No dedicated parking area and only pay and display nearby.
- Colin (7/5): Great room & staff. very Poor restaurant . - The room was fantastic. The food in the bar below was disgusting, both in appearance, taste, substance.
Very cheap mince meat and onion pie , you get better ones at an away day football match.
- David (10/5): -
- Akhila (8/5): -
- Iris (8/5): - My partner and I stayed at the Suffolk Hotel after realising it worked out cheaper than the Travelodge once breakfast was included, and overall we had a good stay.
The bed was genuinely the highlight of the room - incredibly comfortable, with a wonderful mattress and very decent duvet and pillows.
The included breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options. The coffee was delicious. The room itself had a few minor issues, though nothing major. The coffee pods provided were all decaf (there were sachets of normal coffee, although it’s not quite the same), which made the coffee machine fairly pointless for us. The shower was slightly confusing and temperamental, becoming exceedingly hot at times. The body wash and conditioner provided were also quite poor, and the hand soap had a grimy scum on it. Overall though, the cleanliness was good.
We paid for a late checkout, yet housekeeping staff entered the room unannounced in the morning. This happened at a very inopportune moment and caused a great deal of embarrassment, particularly for my partner. At the very least, we feel staff should have knocked, particularly as there was not a provided ‘do not disturb’ sign.
- Richard (8/5): Made this a great Christmas for us. - We stayed over the Christmas period so from 18:00 on Christmas Eve there were no staff or room service until the 27th December.
We knew this in advance, so we can’t comment on all their services.
Staff were very friendly and helpful on check in and check out. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean.
It was in an ideal location for us to visit our family over Christmas.
PS the local taxi service , ‘Dash’, were excellent. There were some minor maintenance issues but as there were no staff on duty we couldn’t report them until check out. The staff said these would be immediately redressed by the maintenance team. This didn’t detract from our stay.
- Michaela (8/5): 😊 - Good Not applicable
- Karen (6/5): - Ease of check in
- Steve (6/5): Staff great, room warm and comfortable, food, well let’s say I’d never eat or stay here again - The location was good and the staff were excellent Tbh the food I had in the bar in the evening was probably the worst pie I’ve ever been served up! The crust was so hard it was difficult to cut, it seemed like a stale pie heated up in the oven.
It was supposed to be homemade, but seriously was a joke! I ate it because I was hungry and I didn’t complain because I had no desire to take the edge off an otherwise ok stay. Breakfast was better, but again average.
You say it’s a find in Suffolk on your advertising and pride yourself on your food! Either that’s rubbish or I was in on a bad day in the kitchen.
Whoever prepped the pie must have known it was inedible for any decent restaurant.
- Anna (9/5): -
- Stefanus (8/5): - Staff were very helpful and friendly. The facility was neat and clean. The shower door was offits rails and the extractor fan was not working.
- ruben (5/5): -
- Trudy (2/5): - Staff were friendly enough Room/bed tiny. Radiator was broken meaning it was stuck on maximum heat all night long and extremely hot! Valve was broken. Partner is a gas engineer and couldn't fix it. Extremely uncomfortable night sleep! Extremely low stock at the bar.
- Patricia (10/5): -
- wayne (10/5): - Exceptional welcome, very welcoming and the room was impeccable Nothing it was perfect
- Michael (9/5): -
- Glyn (10/5): Only stayed the night , but everyone was superb - Fabulous staff, couldn’t have had a better reception, I would definitely recommend, and I will be staying there again Everything was great
- Lofton (7/5): - Breakfast was very nice Bed wasn't that comfortable, and sink wouldn't drain
- Jake (10/5): -
- Charlotte (6/5): Friendly staff but disappointing hotel. - It was a good location on the high street. Helpful and polite staff. The room had some problems (e.g., the blind did not work, the toilet was dirty). The breakfast was only not great (e.g., soya milk had gone off and was lumpy, limited healthy vegan options).
- Piotr (9/5): -
- Sandra (9/5): - The room size was good, as was the decor.
The breakfast was delicious Some marks on the ceiling and walls in the room.
Quite a long wait at breakfast. There was only 1 member of staff
- AA (9/5): - Lovely little hotel, the room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was tasty too. Nothing not to like
- Tracey (8/5): Overnight stay in Haverhill - Well located with fairly priced public car park immediately to the rear. Good food in the restaurant which was also good value. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Double Bed against wall. Free standing mirror reduced space in the room. TV could not maintain signal and kept dropping out.
- Maria (8/5): Served a purpose and will stay again - Location was fabulous A little grubby and dusty in rooms. One lumpy pillow.
- ali (8/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Lloyd (9/5): Good - Clean and comfortable. Excellent shower . Friendly staff. No complaints
- Michael (8/5): Well situated hotel, friendly staff, large clean rooms - Well situated hotel, friendly staff, large clean rooms, easy access to carpark, ideal for a short break and would book again. Nothing to dislike
- Robin (6/5): -
- Rob (10/5): - Great room and location, handy for pubs and restaurants
Good value, great breakfast, polite and helpful staff
Public car park is immediately adjacent to the hotel and not expensive Room was really hot overnight, and with the windows open, the noises from the street ( Saturday night!) we're a bit loud. Not a big issue, just to be aware of. Excellent otherwise
- Jose (9/5): Good quality rooms and breakfast. - Room was very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was good quality. Central location was good. Lack of private parking. Very noisy in the very early hours with bin collections and road sweepers.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): good accommodation at a low price - room was large and comfortable
Breakfast was good and plentiful
Staff were all very friendly and accommodating No actual parking on site - but pay and display car park near through rear door.
Limited choice for evening meal - but they may be our taste
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colin (1/5): Zero sleep in hell - Staff were very friendly. My room was boiling, I thought due to the recent weather we have had ?
The thermostat on the radiator was set on 30 degrees, I turned the thermostat to off but with the little ventilation due to the window only opening slightly the room was unbearable. Zero sleep! Even with the fan it just moved the hot air around. I was shattered the next day , and had a 3 hour drive so not happy with my experience. Speaking to another guest at breakfast he said his radiator was also on full , so clearly this is an issue that needs to be addressed urgently on your part.
- Ngwenya (8/5): Very good - The room was large & clean Checking in area is in the pub/ restaurant and had to go & look for staff. It's not the best check in area as the pub was also busy. Too much bird noise from 4am making it hard to sleep.
- Ziedina (5/5): Passable - We stayed at the hotel and overall the room was fairly clean, which we appreciated. However, there were a few issues that made our stay uncomfortable.
At night, the room became extremely stuffy, and without any air conditioning, it was hard to breathe and sleep properly.
In the morning, we couldn’t find where breakfast was served. No one informed us about the location or the time, so unfortunately we missed it.
A bit more attention to guest comfort and communication would definitely improve the experience.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Staff went above and beyond to please. Nothing
- Tim (9/5): Superb - We requested an early check in as we were going to a wedding but none of our three rooms were ready makes a mockery of making a request. Radiators in corridors were on all night, even though to temperature was 30 degrees
- Tim (8/5): This ruin our stay and meant we had to rush to change - We requested an early check in as we were attending a wedding and needed to change, this was accepted, but when we arrived as predicted at 11am none of our rooms were ready, but other people checking in were given their room keys immediately
- Dennis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (6/5): Suffolk hotel - Room was good good staff The cost of parking closing restaurant early sitting in very dim bar to eat meal no room phone to ring for anything had to keep going to bar when it was open which wasn't much 🙃 there was a long wait for water to heat up no tea spoon for the days no clean towels we had to ask for them
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Sharp (9/5): Superb -
- Suresh (8/5): Very good -
- William (8/5): Very comfortable and made our visit to the area very relaxed - Room - Large and comfortable. Ideal for preparing to go to a wedding and then returning late via the rear door entrance
Breakfast - Almost missed the 10am cut off on Sunday but staff very helpful and lovely breakfast provided Little wrong...
- Peter (10/5): Comfortable, spacious, accommodating venue in a great location - Large room, great value, flexible arrival time. Toilet was dirty but probably just missed
- John (7/5): Comfortable - Breakfast very good.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- David (7/5): Good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Traveling around Europe for a few weeks and had a wedding to go to in a little town nearby. I just needed a place to stay the night but this was the best room that I have stayed in on my trip so far. I wish I had stayed longer. The bed was amazingly comfortable and everything was clean. The only negative was some pigeons making a ruckus outside the window in the morning. It was a great place to stay. Just the pigeons making a ruckus outside of the window in the morning
- Liam (3/5): Won’t be back - Nothing. It’s miles away from Stansted but came up on a search for that location, when I got there at 1am after having repeatedly called to try to change / amend my booking before 11pm (no one answered the phone) I could not access the property for some time. I contacted the key safe people who hadn’t a notion where the key was either. Eventually I found the key at the door which was to the rear of the property and you had to walk around several other properties to access it probably fine if you have a car and were parking to the rear it would be more obvious . After that the experience improved. See above. No communication, not near the airport and no one to talk to about the key
- Jon (8/5): Perfect location and although overlooking the High Street, it was quite at night. - Perfect location in the centre of town for a trip to the theatre. Top floor room and old people don’t mix well when there’s no lift. Maybe it was in the description but I didn’t see it?
- David (1/5): Bad - Nothing When I arrived the hotel was shut, I tried to ring the contact number numerous times but no one answered
In desperation I managed to book another hotel
- Jimbo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (6/5): Pleasant -
- Don (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was freshly made. Nothing all was good.
- Lord (9/5): 100% worth it - Oh wow!!! What a hidden lil gem of a hotel!! My room (room 3) was absolutely massive!! Had a lully bathroom with a really nice bath with i used and of course and enormous supercomfy bed......ecerytime I visit haverhill I'm staying here for sure...the staff were sooooooo nice they helped me with shops around town as I forgot my trainers and a charger and....doh.....
Also dinner was really nice here too....
- Cristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (8/5): Ok - A little bit expensive for one night with no food or drink. Mattress was very hard and had a slight bend in it
- Kevin (10/5): Would definitely return we had a lovely stay, think Sophie is worth her weight in gold she’s such a hard worker and very - Lovely modern clean room No urinal in gents toilet which meant my partner had to use toilet which weren’t particularly clean due to users not cleaning up after themselves
- Kirk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb - Basic but clean and comfortable
- Sharon (9/5): All in all a really nice stay - Great and filling breakfast, very comfortable bed,
Nice modern bathroom, very quiet despite the bar being downstairs. The bathroom sink drained very slowly
- Janet (10/5): Would stay again - All meals were very good dinner and breakfast.
- Morris (7/5): Fits the bill for a weekend stay. - We stayed a couple of nights to visit family. Room only, which was very comfortable and it's in the heart of town. A public car park is immediately to the rear. The only issue was being awoken early by pigeons.
- Kenneth (9/5): Great stay all round, not sure we will ever be back in Haverhill but it will be the place to stay! - Location was perfect for our needs, breakfast was great, dinner was very good, staff were great! The longer I was there the more I saw and the more i liked it Room 2 which was perfect apart from fact it doesn’t have a chair to sit on to watch tv, or drink a cup of tea.
- Julia (9/5): Superb - Nicely decorated, a bit quirky, excellent food, lovey helpful staff.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Room was super spacious and that was a wonderful surprise! Ditto bathroom and to have a separate area with a desk was welcome to work. Beautifully set out. Bed was very comfortable even for a bad back sufferer. They have a quiet period from 11pm to 7am which is good, but prior to that you can hear music from the bar underneath in the room. Not particularly loud on my midweek stay, but if you are sensitive noise (which I am ) bear that in mind.
- Ian (10/5): Great staff, service and accommodation - Clean, modern and fresh
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
